This study aims to describe and analyze the strategies implemented by the Environmental Agency (DLH) of Karimun Regency in managing waste and to evaluate the effectiveness of these implementations in the field. Employing a qualitative descriptive approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and document reviews. Findings reveal that DLH Karimun has developed and executed key strategies, including the formulation of the Regional Waste Management Master Plan (RIPSD), optimization of Temporary Waste Disposal Sites (TPS) with 3R principles, active collaboration with waste banks and community groups, and community-based education and socialization efforts. However, operational challenges persist, particularly in waste transportation fleet distribution, handling of the Sememal Final Disposal Site (TPA), and monitoring and evaluation mechanisms that remain suboptimal. Additional challenges include limited human resources and funding, low public awareness, and regulatory conflicts impacting strategic decision-making. Nevertheless, the strategies implemented have contributed to improvements in environmental cleanliness across several sub-districts and increased volumes of processed waste through recycling initiatives. Community involvement through schools, youth organizations, family welfare groups, mutual cooperation activities, and waste banks proved critical to success. The study recommends the adoption of digital-based waste management systems (smart waste management), capacity building for DLH personnel, community empowerment, and revision of local regulations to support sustainable waste management. This will enhance the effectiveness and sustainability of DLH Karimun’s waste management strategies moving forward. The findings provide valuable insights for policy formulation and practical implementation in similar regional contexts.

Personal hygiene plays a significant role in food contamination, influenced by several factors including the cleanliness of eating utensils. The human body can be a source of contamination, especially when hygiene is not maintained properly, leading to the contamination of food and utensils. Contamination is not only derived from food and water sources but also from unsanitary eating equipment. In Indonesia, regulations have been established under the Minister of Health Regulation No. 1096/Menkes/SK/VI/2011 concerning hygiene and sanitation requirements for food service providers. This study aims to assess the personal hygiene of ready-to-eat food handlers in Latta Village, Teluk Ambon Baguala District. The research is descriptive in nature, using interviews and observations. The study population consisted of 22 ready-to-eat food vendors, with a sample of 5 vendors selected. The results showed that all five food handlers (Vendors I to V) did not meet the hygiene requirements according to the Ministry of Health Regulation No. 1096/Menkes/Per/VI/2011, with a contamination level of 0 CFU. This indicates that the personal hygiene of the five food handlers in Latta Village, Teluk Ambon Baguala District, does not meet the required standards.

This study aims to examine the optimization efforts made by the Apron Movement Control (AMC) unit in supervising and regulating the movement of people and vehicles in the airside area of Komodo International Airport, Labuan Bajo. The AMC unit is responsible for managing the movement of aircraft, people, and vehicles, including plotting parking stands, arranging ground handling, administering flight data, licensing airside vehicles, supervising engine run-up, apron cleanliness, and handling fuel spills. Supervision is carried out based on SOP, but in emergency situations such as aircraft skidding or unloading on the taxiway, the AMC must be able to adapt quickly to relevant safety procedures. This study uses a qualitative method with direct observation techniques, interviews with three AMC personnel, as well as SOP documentation and incident reports. The results show that the implementation of supervision and control has been running according to PM-IK standards. The focus of supervision includes aircraft movement, engine idle, GSE vehicle speed, completeness of worker PPE, and passenger arrangements to the aircraft. However, the main obstacle is the limited personnel which causes a high workload and supervision is not optimal, so that violations by service users or workers still occur and have the potential to endanger flight safety.

Pasuruan City has an economic dynamic driven by the informal sector, especially street vendors (PKL), which play a crucial role in supporting the community's economy. One of the locations that is the center of street vendor activities is the Pasuruan City Square area. Despite its strategic value, the presence of street vendors in the area has caused problems related to order, cleanliness, and public space management. In response, the Pasuruan City Government has enacted Local Regulation No. 2/2013 on the Arrangement and Empowerment of Street Vendors. This study aims to analyze the implementation of the policy and identify factors that support and hinder its implementation. This research uses a descriptive qualitative approach by referring to Van Meter and Van Horn's policy implementation theory, which includes six main indicators. Data collection techniques were conducted through interviews, observation, documentation, and literature study. The results show that policy implementation is quite effective, as seen from the addition of official locations, assistance with facilities such as carts, and entrepreneurship training. However, challenges remain, mainly related to limited human resources and low compliance of street vendors with zoning regulations.

Purirano Subdistrict is a coastal area in Kendari City with a strong connection to the sea in terms of social, economic, and daily community activities. Along with the increasing domestic activities and utilization of coastal areas, the issue of marine debris has begun to emerge, potentially disrupting ecosystems and environmental comfort. This community service activity aims to educate coastal residents about the importance of maintaining marine cleanliness through visual media such as posters and billboards. Posters were distributed directly to residents’ homes, while billboards were installed in strategic locations to be visible to the broader community. The results of the activity indicate that visual media can effectively attract public attention and deliver educational messages. The distributed posters received positive responses from residents, while the billboards served as strong visual reminders in daily life. This method is considered efficient in raising awareness without requiring intensive direct interaction. This activity is expected to serve as an initial step toward behavioral change among coastal communities in protecting the marine environment sustainably.

This study aims to find the most dominant type of waste that damages the coastal area of Putra Deli Beach, Deli Serdang Regency. Based on field observations and interviews with local people, it was found that inorganic, including plastic, is the type of waste that damages the coastal environment the most. Plastic waste persists such as beverage bottles, plastic bags, styrofoam, and food wrappers which are dominant because they do not decompose quickly. This condition is exacerbated by the low public awareness in maintaining cleanliness and the lack of adequate waste management facilities. The impact is not only visually polluting the environment, but also threatening the marine ecosystem, public health, and reducing the value of local tourism. The results of this study are expected to be the basis for mitigation efforts and improving waste management in coastal areas.

This study aims to compare three main aspects of the experience of enjoying traditional Surabi snacks in a number of places along Jalan Setiabudi, Bandung, namely taste, price, and comfort. The method used is a qualitative descriptive approach with observation, interview, and survey techniques to consumers. The results of the study show that there is a significant variation in the taste of Surabi offered by culinary business actors, both in terms of texture, sweetness level, and the peculiarity of toppings. In terms of price, it was found that differences do not always reflect the quality of taste, but are also influenced by location and market segmentation. The comfort of the dining place, including cleanliness, atmosphere, and supporting facilities, is an important factor in determining consumer preferences, especially young people and tourists. These findings can be a reference for culinary MSME actors in improving competitiveness and service quality, as well as providing practical information for consumers in choosing a place to enjoy Surabi that suits their needs and tastes.
