Hypertension, which is common in the elderly, is a condition when blood pressure increases abnormally when measured in the systolic and diastolic phases. Blood pressure that exceeds 140/90 mmHg (systolic/diastolic) may indicate the presence of a health condition in the individual. comparison of the effectiveness of progressive muscle relaxation therapy and slow deep breathing on blood pressure of hypertensive clients at Perdha Pucang Gading Semarang is the main objective of this study. This study used a quantitative quasy-experiment method with a two group pretest and posttest group design, with 48 respondents selected through nonprobability sampling techniques. To ensure the normality assumption was met, the data was tested using the Shapiro-wilk test. Furthermore, statistical analysis was carried out with two types, namely paired t-test and independent t-test, to compare differences between data groups. The results showed that the elderly aged 60-75 years in the Panti experienced mild hypertension. Statistical analysis concluded that progressive muscle relaxation therapy and slow deep breathing were effective in reducing systolic and diastolic blood pressure significantly (p<0.05). However, no substantial variation was found in the effectiveness between the two therapies in reducing systolic blood pressure (p 0.066>0.05).

One of the health issues that can lead to significant consequences, including heart disease and organ damage, is hypertension. For hypertensive patients, non-pharmacological treatments such as progressive muscle relaxation (PMR) offer an alternative to reduce discomfort and blood pressure. This study uses a quantitative methodology and a quasi-experimental design. For two weeks, 66 hypertensive patients from Puskesmas Bangetayu Semarang participated in the ROP intervention. The T-Test and Wilcoxon statistical tests were used to measure blood pressure and pain levels before and after the intervention. According to the Numeric Rating Scale (NRS), ROP therapy reduced pain from 2.68 to 1.76 and systolic blood pressure from an average of 150.15 mmHg to 133.64 mmHg. With a p-value of less than 0.05, statistical analysis revealed a significant difference. It has been proven that progressive muscle relaxation helps hypertensive individuals with their pain and blood pressure. This approach can be used both independently and in healthcare settings as a simple and safe non-pharmacological treatment. the effect of progressive muscle relaxation on pain and blood pressure in hypertensive patients

Sleep disorders or insomnia refer to a condition where individuals struggle to achieve adequate sleep in terms of both quality and quantity. Insomnia sufferers often experience fatigue and drowsiness throughout the day due to a lack of optimal rest. Based on its duration, insomnia is classified into acute insomnia, lasting less than four weeks, and chronic insomnia, which persists for more than four weeks. One non-pharmacological approach to managing this issue is relaxation therapy, including the use of aromatherapy, which promotes a calming effect through pleasant scents. This community service program aims to provide awareness about the benefits of aromatherapy in managing insomnia. The methods used include health education, discussions, and Q&A sessions with participants. The target audience consisted of 12 elderly individuals experiencing sleep disturbances. The evaluation results indicated a significant improvement in participants' knowledge after the session, with 91.7% demonstrating a good understanding, while 8.3% had a moderate understanding of aromatherapy’s benefits. These findings suggest that educating the elderly on the use of aromatherapy for insomnia management positively impacts their awareness of relaxation therapy’s role in improving sleep quality. It is hoped that this method can be continuously promoted as an effective natural alternative to address sleep disorders.
