Accessible tourism has become an increasingly urgent need as awareness of the rights of persons with disabilities, the elderly, and other travelers with special needs grows. Although Indonesia, particularly Bali, has enormous potential as a tourism destination, implementing inclusive principles in travel services still faces numerous challenges. This study aims to design a tailor-made travel package based on accessible tourism as a destination management company innovation to address accessibility issues and realize inclusive tourism in Bali. This research applied a qualitative descriptive method using a case study approach. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews with tourism stakeholders, including destination management companies, travelers with special needs, and local partners, as well as field documentation. The research was conducted in Bali as the tourist destination region and the Netherlands as the traveler-generating region, with a focus on the destination company management, Jewel Indonesia Tour and Travel. Findings show that destination management companies still face challenges such as inaccessible infrastructure, limited staff knowledge, and a lack of understanding of universal design concepts. However, there are significant opportunities through niche market demands, national regulatory support, and collaboration with disability communities and international partners. The developed travel package includes inclusive accommodations, disability-friendly activities, accessible transportation, and digital information adapted to user needs. This research significantly contributes to the existing literature gap regarding the role of destination management companies in accessible tourism. Furthermore, the designed model is expected to serve as a best practice framework for developing inclusive tourism products in other destinations across Indonesia. The study concludes that a customer-centered approach, cross-sector collaboration, and sustainable innovation are crucial in building an equitable tourism ecosystem. It is recommended that tourism stakeholders enhance accessibility education and integrate universal design principles into all tourism services.

This study aims to examine the influence of tourist behavior on interest in visiting historical tourist destinations in Bandung, with a focus on Generation Z as a growing potential tourist segment. Tourist behavior in this context is analyzed through four main factors, namely cultural, social, personal, and psychological factors that theoretically can influence tourist decisions in choosing a destination. This study uses a quantitative approach with a descriptive-verification method, where primary data is obtained by distributing questionnaires to respondents included in the Generation Z category and who have or have the potential to visit historical tourist destinations in Bandung. The data analysis technique used is Partial Least Square (PLS), because it is able to test the relationship between variables simultaneously and partially. The results show that tourist behavior simultaneously has a significant effect on interest in visiting historical tourist destinations. However, partial analysis shows that not all factors contribute equally. Social, personal, and psychological factors are proven to have a significant influence on the interest in visiting Generation Z. This indicates that social interaction, lifestyle, individual characteristics, and motivation and psychological needs are more dominant in encouraging Generation Z to choose historical tourism as a destination. On the other hand, cultural factors do not show a significant influence, indicating that cultural background is not a major consideration in Generation Z's travel decisions. This finding provides practical implications for managers of historical tourism destinations in Bandung City, namely the need to develop promotional strategies and service development that emphasize social aspects, personalization of experiences, and fulfillment of the psychological needs of Generation Z. Thus, the appeal of historical tourism can be improved and be more relevant to the preferences of the younger generation.

This study aims to analyze the framing of heritage tourism news in the online media DetikJatim.com during the period of July to December 2024. The research uses a qualitative method with Robert N. Entman’s framing analysis approach, which includes four elements: define problem, diagnose causes, make moral judgment, and treatment recommendation. A total of 28 news articles were analyzed and classified into six categories of heritage tourism. The findings show that DetikJatim frames the main issue as the lack of historical preservation and the weakening of the meaning of heritage areas amid modernization. The highlighted causes include weak historical literacy, dominance of folk narratives without academic support, and the repurposing of historical spaces. Morally, the media views historical preservation and the strengthening of local identity as a collective responsibility, encouraging the public to understand and appreciate history. The suggested solutions include reintroducing historical knowledge, educating through narratives of struggle, revitalizing sites, or simply highlighting their existence

This research is motivated by the importance of implementing sustainable tourism management principles in the management of Citumang Nature Tourism, Bojong Village, Parigi District, Pangandaran Regency. This management not only emphasizes the utilization of economic value, but must also pay attention to the preservation of the natural environment, socio-cultural values and aspects, and the active involvement of the local community. This aims to ensure that the benefits of Citumang's existence can be felt by all levels of society. The purpose of this study is to determine the form and effectiveness of collaboration between the village government, stakeholders, and the community in managing this nature tourism. This study uses a qualitative method with data collection techniques through literature studies and field studies. Data analysis is carried out in three stages, namely data collection, data reduction, and data presentation. The results of the study indicate that the collaboration between the village government, stakeholders, and the community still faces several obstacles. Problems identified include the lack of official licenses or professional guide certificates for tour guides, an unclear organizational structure resulting in weak coordination between the village government and tour guide groups, limited proactive leadership, which reduces community motivation and participation in tourism development, low community involvement in the planning and implementation of tourism activities, and a lack of effective promotion to attract visitors. These conditions have resulted in the suboptimal development of Citumang's tourism potential as a leading regional destination. This study recommends the establishment of a clear organizational structure, increased human resource capacity through guide training and certification, strengthening the role of visionary and inclusive leadership, increasing community participation in all stages of tourism management, and implementing creative and targeted promotional strategies. This will enable Citumang's nature tourism management to be more effective, sustainable, and provide optimal benefits for all stakeholders.

This article explores the integration of creative and historical tourism through a comparative examination of two prominent cultural destinations in East Java, Indonesia: Bandar Grisse in Gresik and the Bung Karno Memorial Park in Blitar. Bandar Grisse, a revitalized old-town district, exemplifies a unique urban tourism model that blends colonial architectural heritage with a contemporary pedestrian-friendly layout reminiscent of Malioboro Street in Yogyakarta. Central to its historical significance is the Garling (Gardu Suling), an iconic heritage structure equipped with a siren, strategically located amidst a multicultural urban fabric encompassing Dutch, Arab, Chinese, and indigenous settlements. The institutionalization of the “Bandar Grisse” tourism brand has catalyzed a series of recurring cultural events, including the annual Bandar Grisse Festival and the biweekly Cokro Ekraf Festival, fostering local creative economies. Complementing this urban heritage is the Bung Karno Memorial Park, a monumental site that not only serves as the final resting place of Indonesia’s first president but also as a locus of national remembrance and civic education. Employing a qualitative descriptive approach, this study underscores the symbiotic relationship between heritage preservation and cultural innovation in promoting sustainable tourism rooted in local identity and historical consciousness.

This study examines the contribution of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) actors in supporting community economic empowerment through their strategic role in strengthening tourist attractions in two destinations in East Java, namely religious tourism of Cheng Hoo Mosque Pasuruan and natural educational tourism of Jati Sewu Gresik. This research is based on the reality of tourist destinations that are the target of the study, where the role of MSMEs in both areas reflects a significant role in strengthening tourist attractions in destinations for visitors. Cheng Hoo Mosque Pasuruan and Jati Sewu Gresik have become new growing spaces for MSMEs that not only sell food, drinks, or tourist services, but also convey the distinctive values of the destination to visitors through direct interaction and the products sold. The method used is descriptive qualitative with a content analysis approach. The data collected was obtained from participatory observations in the field directly with MSME actors, and supported by secondary data obtained from various online sources such as news articles, tourism websites, and official information from the two related destinations. The results show that MSMEs in these two tourist destinations not only play a role in enriching the variety of attractions offered to tourists, but also play an important role in supporting the economy of the surrounding community. Trade activities carried out by MSME players around the tourist area directly create new economic opportunities while increasing community participation in tourism dynamics. In addition, MSMEs also create a more authentic, communicative, and inclusive travel experience for tourists.

This study discusses how tourist attractions play a role in shaping destination identity through the integration of cultural, educational, and natural values. The focus of the study is directed at three tourist locations in East Java, namely Pari Temple, Surabaya Museum, and Pandawa Valley. All three represent different models of attractions—from historical sites with spiritual nuances, educational museums in the middle of the city, to thematically designed family recreation parks. The method used is a qualitative descriptive approach with a comparative case study, through observation, documentation, and semi-structured interviews.  The results of the study show that each location has its own way of constructing destination identity. Pari Temple emphasizes cultural continuity and sacred nuances. Surabaya Museum builds city identity through interactive historical education. Pandawa Valley offers a visual and emotional experience that is close to family tourists. All three show that destination identity is formed from a combination of design elements, cultural symbols, and visitor experiences. This study recommends strengthening local narratives and approaches that unite cultural, educational, and natural values in sustainable tourism development.

As one of the oldest heritage tourism sites in Indonesia, KBS (Kebun Binatang Surabaya) faces challenges in sustaining its relevance and competing with other modern tourism offerings. The sustainability of KBS is largely influenced by the image communication strategies used to market the zoo and attract family tourists. This study aims to assess the communication strategies along with social media promotion, as well as the tourists’ experience regarding their visit. The data collection technique was field observation, digital documentation analysis, and interviews using a semi-structured format which was analyzed descriptively qualitatively. Research findings indicate that KBS has social media and stakeholder collaboration as main promo media and, education as the fundamental pull factor. Moreover, despite its strengths, KBS suffers from gaps in destination branding and lack of innovation in digital on-site experience. A competitive repositioning by building a unique identifiable brand through, integrated and comprehensive communication strategies was proposed for the use of KBS as a family-friendly competitive educational tourism site.
