This study explores the phenomenon of abuse of authority in the investigation stage of corruption cases, focusing on various violations of practices, causative factors, and implications for justice and legal certainty. The study uses a normative juridical approach through the study of laws and regulations, legal doctrine, and empirical literature to build a comprehensive and systematic analysis. The findings indicate that oversight gaps, weak institutional control, and low integrity of the authorities are the main triggers for actions that go beyond authority, which in turn reduces the effectiveness of evidence and lowers public trust in law enforcement institutions. In addition, the lack of transparency and accountability mechanisms further exacerbates the risk of procedural violations during the investigation process. These conditions can potentially undermine the principles of due process of law and fairness in the criminal justice system. To address this problem, it is necessary to improve internal and external control mechanisms, strengthen supervision by independent institutions, and ensure the consistent implementation of disciplinary measures and legal sanctions against violators. By reinforcing these efforts, it is expected that law enforcement agencies can enhance professionalism, maintain integrity, and restore public confidence in handling corruption cases. This study aims to analyze the strategic management of disaster services in handling flood-affected communities in Surabaya City. This study uses a qualitative descriptive approach with an analytical framework of strategic management theory according to Wheelen and Hunger (2008), which includes four main stages: environmental observation, strategy formulation, strategy implementation, and evaluation and control. Data were obtained through documentation studies, field observations, and secondary data searches from official reports from the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), and relevant online sources. The results show that the BPBD of East Java Province has implemented a systematic strategic management cycle in disaster services. During the environmental observation stage, the BPBD was able to identify the main threat in the form of the dominance of hydrometeorological disasters, particularly floods. During the strategy formulation stage, the BPBD established a mission, objectives, and strategic policies focused on disaster risk reduction, increasing community preparedness, and strengthening cross-sectoral coordination. Strategy implementation is realized through mitigation, preparedness, and emergency response programs, as well as the utilization of early warning systems and command centers. Meanwhile, evaluation and control are carried out continuously through monitoring disaster events and adjusting policies based on actual conditions in the field. The flood-affected community management strategy demonstrates a responsive and collaborative approach, despite still facing structural challenges such as tidal flooding and limited drainage infrastructure. This study concludes that implementing strategic management based on the theory of Wheelen and Hunger (2008) can improve the effectiveness of disaster services, but requires strengthening long-term mitigation and community empowerment.

The investigation stage constitutes a crucial phase in the criminal justice system, as it determines the direction and quality of subsequent law enforcement processes. Within the context of Indonesian criminal procedural law, the Criminal Procedure Code (Kitab Undang-Undang Hukum Acara Pidana/KUHAP) grants extensive authority to law enforcement officials, particularly investigators, in order to ensure the effective disclosure of criminal offenses. However, such dominance of authority has the potential to create an imbalance between the interest of law enforcement effectiveness and the protection of human rights, especially when it is not accompanied by adequate mechanisms of limitation and oversight. This study aims to critically analyze the dominance of law enforcement authority at the investigation stage and its implications for law enforcement effectiveness and the potential for abuse of power. The research employs normative legal research using statutory and conceptual approaches, supported by qualitative analysis of legal doctrines, legislation, and relevant academic literature. The findings indicate that while the dominance of investigative authority does contribute to the effectiveness of investigations, it simultaneously creates opportunities for abuse of power due to weak internal and external oversight mechanisms. This condition results in the erosion of the principles of due process of law and the protection of suspects’ rights within the criminal justice system. Therefore, this study emphasizes the need to strengthen judicial control mechanisms, enhance the accountability of law enforcement officials, and reform criminal procedural law in order to achieve a balance between effective law enforcement and the protection of human rights within a democratic rule-of-law state.

Adolescents are a vulnerable group to digital sexual violence, including sextortion, which involves sexual extortion through threats to distribute sexually explicit content. Low levels of self-control may increase adolescents’ vulnerability to such risks. This study aimed to examine the effectiveness of psychoeducation in enhancing self-control understanding as a preventive effort against sextortion among adolescents. A quantitative approach with a pre-experimental one-group pre-test–post-test design was employed. The participants consisted of 36 students aged 15–17 years from a public senior high school in Samarinda. The psychoeducational intervention was delivered through interactive lectures, Focus Group Discussions (FGD), and educational video screenings. Data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon Signed-Rank Test. The results of the analysis showed a statistically significant difference (Z = −2.201; p = 0.028 (p < 0.05)). This indicates that there was a difference in adolescents’ self-control before and after the psychoeducation intervention. The post-test mean score (M = 8.39) was higher than the pre-test mean score (M = 8.00). These findings suggest that psychoeducation was effective in improving adolescents’ understanding of self-control as a preventive effort against sextortion. Self-control psychoeducation can therefore be considered a relevant preventive approach to be implemented in school settings.

This study aims to determine the effect of implementing the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model on student learning outcomes in the Ignition System competency at SMKN 1 Katapang. The background of this study stems from the low understanding of students regarding the ignition system material due to the dominant use of the Teacher-Centered Learning (TCL) model, which tends to make students passive and only memorize concepts without understanding the overall working process. PBL is considered more relevant because it emphasizes real problem-solving, critical thinking, collaboration, and analysis according to constructivist theory. The method used is a quasi-experiment with a Nonequivalent Control Group Design. The research subjects consist of two classes of 11th-grade Light Vehicle Engineering students: an experimental group using the PBL model and a control group using TCL, with a total population of 70 students. Data collection was done through pretests and posttests using a validated multiple-choice objective test instrument. Data analysis includes comparing the learning outcome improvements of both groups to determine the effectiveness of PBL. The results show a more significant improvement in learning outcomes in the class using the PBL model compared to the TCL class. This proves that the implementation of PBL is effective in improving analysis skills and diagnostic skills in the ignition system. Therefore, PBL is recommended as a more suitable teaching model for practice-based subjects in vocational schools, especially in automotive electrical competencies.
