This community service project aims to raise awareness and knowledge about health among the elderly through the GERKASA-LASAKIT program (Movement for Healthy and Disease-Aware Seniors) in Dusun 1, Tanjung Anom Village, Deli Serdang Regency. This initiative is driven by the high prevalence of degenerative diseases and the lack of accurate information regarding the prevention and management of these diseases among seniors. Through comprehensive health education, it is hoped that the elderly can improve their quality of life by adopting a healthy lifestyle and gaining a better understanding of common illnesses they may face. The methods used in this project include health education sessions, practical training on early disease detection, and physical activities tailored to the physical condition of the elderly. Health education is provided by medical professionals and public health experts. Additionally, individual consultation sessions are held to offer more personalized care for each participant. The results of this activity show an increase in health knowledge and awareness among the elderly, as evidenced by high participation and enthusiasm in each session. Seniors involved in this program have also begun adopting healthier lifestyles, such as engaging in regular light exercise and having routine health check-ups. This project has successfully built a support network among the elderly, their families, and the local community, creating a more caring and health-conscious environment. Thus, the GERKASA-LASAKIT program makes a significant contribution to improving the quality of life for the elderly in Dusun 1, Tanjung Anom Village. The sustainability of this program is expected to serve as a model for other villages in efforts to enhance the welfare and health of the elderly at the local level.

Heart rate is an important indicator of overall heart health. Changes in heart rate can indicate underlying health problems, even before other symptoms appear, especially for the elderly population who are vulnerable to cardiovascular issues such as heart disease, stroke, and arrhythmia. Therefore, a heart rate monitoring device is needed that can monitor heart rate and allow early detection of such cardiovascular disorders. Along with modern technological advancements, heart rate monitoring devices are now available for everyone, but heart signal diagnosis still needs to be conducted by doctors or medical professionals. A heart monitor can be made using a heart rate sensor attached to a NodeMCU device. The Pulse Sensor, which functions to detect human heartbeats, can be placed in three measurement locations: on the finger, hand, or forehead. The data is then processed by NodeMCU, and the measurement results, which are Beats Per Minute (BPM), will be displayed on a website and stored in a database. The test results show that the average heart rate measurement using the device is 74 BPM, while the manual measurement is 74 BPM, with an accuracy of 97.74%, and it takes 60 seconds to display the average Beats Per Minute (BPM).

This research investigates maritime health literacy among cadets, focusing on its alignment with international standards and implications for professional practice in the maritime industry. Using qualitative methods, the study explores cadets' perceptions and experiences regarding health management practices onboard ships. Findings reveal a strong alignment with safety and environmental protocols outlined by the International Maritime Organization (IMO). However, gaps in practical training effectiveness and continual professional development highlight areas for improvement. Cadets express the need for enhanced practical simulations and lifelong learning initiatives to better prepare for health-related challenges at sea. The study also identifies positive perceptions of health promotion policies mandated by the maritime labour convention, underscoring industry commitment to promoting occupational health and safety standards. Recommendations include integrating comprehensive mental health support, fostering collaborative research efforts, and conducting longitudinal studies to assess the sustainability of health literacy interventions. By addressing these recommendations, stakeholders can enhance operational efficiency, promote crew welfare, and sustain a culture of safety within the maritime sector.

The maritime industry requires financially literate and strategically competent professionals to navigate challenges in shipping management, business sustainability, and economic resilience. However, vocational maritime education often lacks practical financial training and sustainability-driven business strategies, creating gaps between academic learning and industry needs. This research addresses these gaps by analyzing how maritime education aligns with financial sustainability and business competency development. Unlike previous studies that separately examine maritime education or financial sustainability, this research integrates expert insights, graduate experiences, and educator perspectives to develop a holistic framework for maritime business and financial training. The findings contribute to policy discussions on improving vocational curricula and bridging industry-academia gaps. This study investigates the effectiveness of maritime vocational education in developing competencies in financial decision-making, economic resilience, and business sustainability. It evaluates curriculum alignment with industry demands and identifies key areas for enhancement. A qualitative research design was used, incorporating semi-structured interviews with 13 maritime professionals, 4 educators, and 33 graduates. Thematic analysis was applied to assess vocational training effectiveness in financial sustainability and business resilience. Findings reveal strong technical competency but gaps in financial literacy and sustainability-driven business strategies. Maritime education programs scored 9/10 in effectiveness, but practical applications of financial decision-making and risk management need reinforcement. This study provides actionable insights for vocational training reforms, emphasizing applied financial education, industry collaboration, and sustainability-driven business strategies. The Industrial Revolution 4.0 has drastically changed the global employment landscape, necessitating the comprehensive development of 21st-century skills in education systems. This study examines how private high schools in Indonesia implement 21st-century skills, focusing on the barriers faced, the strategies used, and their impact on student learning outcomes. We used a mixed-methods approach involving 200 students, 25 teachers, and 10 principals from five private high schools in Java. Data were collected through surveys, semi-structured interviews, classroom observations, and document analysis. Quantitative data were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics, while qualitative data were analyzed using thematic analysis. The results revealed four main barriers: limited teacher preparedness, limited resources, difficulties in assessment, and resistance to changes in teaching methods. Effective strategies implemented included ongoing professional development programs, integrating learning technology, project-based learning, and strengthening teacher collaboration. Our findings demonstrate significant improvements in students' critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, and communication skills in schools implementing the comprehensive strategy. This research provides theoretical contributions to understanding the implementation context in developing countries while offering practical implications for policy makers, school administrators, and educators in designing contextual and sustainable 21st-century skills development programs.
