Indonesia as an agricultural country rich in natural resources, relies heavily on agriculture to support its economy, especially in Central Java where the majority of the population are farmers. However, many rural areas, such as Tegalrandu village in Srumbung, Magelang, face challenges due to limited agricultural knowledge and resources. This study aims to empower farmers in Tegalrandu by improving their agricultural practices through the use of compost as a sustainable fertilizer. This study uses the Asset Based Community Development (ABCD) methodology, which focuses on local strengths and assets to catalyze community-driven development. Participants included local farmers who were engaged through a series of workshops and hands-on training in compost production using household waste and natural activators. The results showed that farmers successfully produced high-quality compost, leading to improved soil health and crop yields. In addition, the community showed increased knowledge and confidence in sustainable agricultural practices. This study underscores the importance of participatory approaches in agricultural development, highlighting the potential of composting to not only increase crop production but also foster economic resilience among rural farmers. The implications extend beyond local agricultural practices, suggesting that similar empowerment strategies can be applied in other rural contexts to promote sustainability and community development.

Forest and land fires are a serious problem that has a negative impact on the environment and the economy, especially in the Riau Islands region, including Bintan Regency. The background of this research is the high frequency of forest fires that cause ecosystem damage, air pollution, and significant economic losses. This study aims to analyze the forest and land fire prevention and law enforcement strategies that have been implemented and identify obstacles in their implementation. The research method used is qualitative with a case study approach. The data was collected through in-depth interviews with law enforcement officials, forestry officers, and local communities, as well as analysis of documents related to forest fires in Bintan over the past few years. In addition, questionnaires were also distributed to get a broader perspective on the effectiveness of existing strategies. The results of the study show that although there have been various prevention efforts such as routine patrols, socialization, and the installation of prohibition signs, the effectiveness is still not optimal. The main obstacles identified include limited resources, lack of community participation, difficulty in identifying perpetrators, hard-to-reach terrain, and pressure from certain parties. The lack of resources such as personnel and equipment, as well as the low level of public awareness and participation in forest fire prevention, are the main factors hindering the effectiveness of these strategies. In addition, pressure from landowners or influential parties often hinders firm and fair law enforcement. Suggestions for improving the effectiveness of prevention and enforcement strategies include increasing the budget and capacity of officers, the use of advanced technology for monitoring and investigation, and education and empowerment of local communities. In addition, there is a need for increased coordination between agencies and legal protection for officers who face pressure in carrying out their duties. With a comprehensive and inclusive approach, it is hoped that forest and land fires in Bintan can be minimized, so that a more sustainable environment and a stable economy can be realized

Batam City, as a rapidly growing industrial center, faces major challenges in allocating agricultural land for farmers who need legal certainty over the land they manage. The background of the problem in this study is the conflict of interest between industrial development and the need for agricultural land protection, which often sacrifices farmers' rights and causes legal uncertainty. The purpose of this study is to analyze the role of the government in allocating land for farmers in Batam City and to provide policy recommendations that can increase legal certainty over agricultural land. The research method used is a normative and empirical juridical approach, which includes an analysis of relevant laws and regulations such as Law Number 5 of 1960 concerning Basic Regulations on Agrarian Principles, Law Number 41 of 2009 concerning the Protection of Sustainable Food Agricultural Land, and Law Number 19 of 2013 concerning the Protection and Empowerment of Farmers. Primary data was collected through interviews with farmers, government officials, and other stakeholders, while secondary data was obtained from legal literature, policy documents, and previous case studies. The results of the study show that the implementation of land allocation for farmers in Batam City has not been optimal. Farmers often do not get adequate legal certainty because the allocated land can be revoked at any time by the government for the benefit of industrial development. The main obstacles identified include conflicts of interest between economic development and agricultural land protection, lack of legal certainty, weak coordination and oversight, development and urbanization pressures, and lack of supporting infrastructure. As a suggestion, this study recommends that the Batam City Government develop a balanced and inclusive spatial planning policy, accelerate the land certification process for farmers, improve coordination between institutions, and invest in agricultural infrastructure development. In addition, farmers are expected to strengthen their organizations to advocate for their rights, while the people of Batam City need to actively participate in the process of land use planning and monitoring to ensure sustainable and equitable development.

The transformation of affirmative action policies in the digital era serves as a strategic step to improve the Gender Empowerment Index (GEM) and accelerate gender equality in Indonesia. These policies focus on enhancing women's access to economic, political, and educational sectors, leveraging opportunities provided by digital technology. However, several challenges remain, such as limited internet access, low digital literacy, patriarchal social norms, and underrepresentation of women in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) sectors. The government has implemented several initiatives, including a 30% quota for women's representation in parliament, empowering women-owned MSMEs through Kredit Usaha Rakyat (KUR), and offering scholarships to increase women's participation in STEM and technology fields. In addition, affirmative policies within state-owned enterprises (BUMN) aim to promote female leadership in strategic positions. Despite some progress, the gender gap in the digital economy and the risk of gender-based violence online remain significant issues that require further attention.Policy recommendations include improving access to technology and digital literacy for women, providing incentives for companies that promote gender equality, and strengthening protection against online gender-based violence. Collaboration between the government, private sector, and civil society is essential to ensure the successful implementation of affirmative action policies in the digital era. This transformation is expected not only to enhance the IDG but also to empower women to actively contribute to inclusive and sustainable economic development.

This study looks at the meanings of words and their context in Maya Angelou’s poem "Still I Rise." This poem is well-known for its message of strength and empowerment, especially for African American women during the civil rights movement. Using a qualitative approach, this research combines examining the text and interpreting its context. The lexical analysis looks at dictionary definitions of important words in the poem and their deeper meanings within the poem’s context. The contextual interpretation places the poem within the larger historical and cultural background of Angelou's life and the civil rights era. The findings show that Angelou’s use of language not only strengthens the poem’s themes of defiance and self-worth but also deeply connects with the socio-political climate of its time. The study aims to provide a deeper understanding of the lexical and contextual meanings of some of the lines in Angelou's literary work "Still I Rise" as well as in discussions of race, identity and empowerment.

National food security is one of the crucial issues or problem that is the focus of government attention in order to ensure the availability, access, and quality of food for the entire community. Government policies that support local independence are believed to have an important role in achieving sustainable food security. This study aims to analyze government policies from a legal perspective in advancing local independence and their implications for national food security. The methodology used in this study is normative legal analysis with a descriptive approach. The data used comes from primary sources such as laws and regulations and related policies, as well as secondary sources in the form of literature and other supporting documents. The analysis is carried out to identify policies that have been implemented, evaluate their effectiveness, and the legal implications that arise. The results of the study show that there are a number of policies that have been implemented by the government to advance local independence, but there are still various challenges in their implementation. Several policies that are effective at the local level have not been fully integrated with national policies, which causes a lack of harmony in achieving food security. In addition, this study found that the legal aspects of the policy still need improvement to support the sustainability of local independence in the long term. The conclusion of this study emphasizes the importance of strengthening a more integrated legal and policy framework that focuses on local empowerment. Recommendations are given to policy makers to improve existing regulations, improve coordination between institutions, and encourage local community participation in efforts to achieve sustainable national food security.
