This conceptual research article develops an eschatological-hope-based pastoral counseling model for congregants experiencing bereavement. Bereavement is not only an affective response to death but also a disruption of meaning, embodied routines, social belonging, and theological imagination. Contemporary grief research has clarified the distinction between normative grief, prolonged grief disorder, complicated spiritual grief, and the heterogeneous trajectories through which bereaved persons adapt. However, pastoral responses in local churches often remain fragmented, oscillating between sympathetic presence, doctrinal explanation, ritual care, and informal advice without an integrated model that is clinically cautious and theologically constructive. This study employs a qualitative constructive literature review, synthesizing bereavement psychology, meaning reconstruction theory, spiritual care research, and Christian eschatological theology. The article proposes the PASTOR model: Presence, Assessment, Story, Scripture, Theological lament, Ongoing communal practice, and referral and review. The main synthesis argues that eschatological hope should not be used to bypass grief but to hold lament, embodied absence, continuing bonds, and future-oriented resurrection hope within a disciplined pastoral process. The model contributes a practical framework for churches seeking to accompany mourners without medicalizing ordinary grief, minimizing suffering, or ignoring cases that require professional mental health referral.

Poetry is a form of literary work that is full of meaning and beauty, as a result of protective expressions and feelings that are bound by certain elements such as rhythm, meter, rhyme, lyric composition, and stanzas. In this study, we investigate the meaning of metaphors expressed by authors in poetry. Lafamane (2020:1) and Sumardi (in Lafamane:2020) emphasize that poetry is condensed, shortened and given rhythm with imaginative figurative words. Herbert Spencer (in Lafamane: 2020) added emotional dimensions and beauty as important elements in poetry. Thus, the meaning of metaphor in poetry explores the emotional depth and beauty expressed by the author through figurative language that captivates the reader. Through analyzing the meaning of metaphor, we can understand more deeply the essence of poetry and the richness of the author's imagination in conveying messages beautifully and captivatingly.

Literary works, such as novels, poetry or drama, require a linguistic style that reflects the way the author wrote the literary work. Novels are a form of literary work. Novels usually tell the story of a person's life in relation to the lives of the people around him and each other. In novels, this has a major impact on the written story. The characters in a story have the greatest influence on the author's psychological state. Most people assume that the main character is someone who is similar to the author, especially if the main character is of the same gender. Imaginations arising from the author's environment – environmental conditions, events, places – can arouse in him the desire to immortalize them in literary works.

In this research, the author aims to reveal the character values contained in the short story entitled "Sacred Tree" by Yus R. Ismail and then relate them to real life. In his research, the author used a qualitative descriptive method, which in the process displays the data as it is without manipulation or other treatments. The aim of this research is to present a complete picture of an event or is intended to expose and clarify a phenomenon that occurs. The steps for collecting data in the short story "Sacred Tree" are by (1) reading the short story intensively, then (2) analyzing the character values and (3) presenting the data. Apart from using qualitative descriptive methods, the author also uses a mimetic approach, namely research that connects the content of literary works and real life. In this short story the author finds character and moral values depicted in each character, as well as a real storyline that occurs in life. A difference of opinion which then becomes the cause of a dispute, but can be resolved by a figure who has a wise nature. Then the policy leads to changes that cause regret in the future. And the moral value presented in this short story is not to force change on a group or person if we cannot be responsible for the change. This short story by Yus R. Ismail is a simple short story that describes real life clearly without engineering and contains several useful lessons for the reader.
