Education is a key element in the development of society and the country. This article examines the development of education in Indonesia with a focus on the background, results and conclusions of the historical journey of education in this country. The development of education in Indonesia has been influenced by a long history, especially the period of Dutch colonialism. Education at that time was limited to the native elite and created inequality in access to education. However, after the proclamation of independence in 1945, education became a top priority in national development, resulting in a significant increase in access to basic education. Nevertheless, educational inequality between urban and rural areas and between islands in Indonesia remains a problem that must be addressed..Educational developments in Indonesia include increasing access to education, diversifying higher education programs, and efforts to integrate local culture in the curriculum. The government has allocated a significant budget for education, modernizing the curriculum and improving the quality of teaching. Education reform also includes teacher training and curriculum updates to face changing times. However, there are still challenges in educational governance, unequal access to education, and integrating technology in the learning process. The development of education in Indonesia reflects a journey full of challenges and significant changes. While there has been progress in terms of access and cultural integration efforts, challenges such as educational inequality, complex governance, and technology integration still need to be addressed. Quality education remains a priority, with the hope that continued efforts will ensure that education in Indonesia meets high quality standards and is relevant to face a challenging future. This study aims to analyze the interaction of local culture and climate change from an environmental science perspective, with a focus on the socio-ecological adaptation strategies of coastal communities in the Indonesian archipelago. Climate change has had significant impacts on coastal areas, ranging from increased tidal flooding and coastal erosion to decreased fisheries productivity. In this context, coastal communities rely not only on technical approaches but also utilize local wisdom that has been passed down through generations. The research method used is a qualitative study with an environmental ethnography approach, which allows researchers to explore the relationship between culture, ecology, and environmental adaptation. Data were collected through participant observation, in-depth interviews with traditional leaders, fishermen, and local communities, and analysis of cultural documents covering rituals, customary rules, and traditional ecological practices. Data analysis was conducted thematically to identify adaptation patterns, then compared with technical approaches in environmental studies. The results show that coastal communities in the Indonesian archipelago have various forms of culturally based adaptation that are relevant to the challenges of climate change. For example, the practice of marine sasi in Maluku serves to preserve fishery resources, traditional rituals in Bali support collective ecological awareness, and mutual cooperation (gotong royong) on the coast of Java helps mitigate tidal flooding. These practices demonstrate that local wisdom serves a dual purpose: strengthening social cohesion and sustainably protecting the environment. The study's conclusions confirm that adaptation strategies will be more effective if they integrate local wisdom with science-based technical approaches. This integration not only strengthens ecological resilience but also ensures the socio-cultural sustainability of coastal communities.

The problems that exist in the Pekalongan Regency Tourism, Culture, Youth and Sports Office (Disporapar) on the one hand are problems in the organisational structure, especially in charge of Tourism, which has no sub-fields, even though the workload is very high. With data collection techniques using interviews, observation and documentation. Data analysis techniques through four stages that must be passed, namely information collection, data reduction, data presentation and drawing conclusions.Based on the results of the analysis of the above research, the conclusion is that first, the development of institutional capacity in coordinating public services in the tourism sector at the Pekalongan Regency Disporapar is not yet sufficient internally, such as budget improvement, improvement of organizational structure, recruitment of human resources apparatus, and provision of infrastructure facilities. Second, externally, there has been no development and improvement of tourism objects that are adequate for the consumption of local and foreign tourists in Pekalongan Regency. Thirdly, there is a lack of participation and awareness of the people to form "Rakyat Sadar Wisata" groups, but more people are not aware of tourism, so there is still "robbery" and destruction of tourist attraction facilities, illegal parking in tourist attraction areas, inadequate number and condition of tourist attraction facilities, and a lack of investors. However, there is a relief in the support from the Provincial and Central Governments as well as the availability of large areas of coastal, inland and mountainous land in Pekalongan Regency and the many potential natural resources in Pekalongan Regency that have not been utilised.
