A mid the growing complexity of contemporary education, the challenge of integrating intellectual achievement with moral and spiritual development has become increasingly urgent. This study examines educational strategies in the Qur’an through the perspective of tafsir tarbawi, focusing on four core approaches: exemplary conduct, advice, dialogue, and storytelling. The research aims to explore how the Qur’an presents pedagogical methods that not only convey knowledge but also shape character and internalize values in learners. Employing a qualitative library research design with thematic and tafsir tarbawi approaches, this study analyzes relevant Qur’anic verses and supporting scholarly literature. The findings reveal that the Qur’an offers a holistic and dynamic model of education in which exemplary conduct functions as a behavioral model, advice serves as a means of value internalization, dialogue promotes reflective and critical thinking, and storytelling strengthens moral awareness through narrative experience. These strategies are interconnected and operate across cognitive, affective, and behavioral domains. The study concludes that Qur’anic educational strategies remain highly relevant for contemporary Islamic education, particularly in strengthening character formation, reflective learning, and the integration of values in educational practice.

The study of Islamic manuscripts contributes to understanding the development of thought, values, and social practices in Muslim communities, especially when texts are viewed as cultural artifacts. This research examines the Eid al-Adha sermon manuscript from the private collection of Mgs. Muhammad Jufri using a philological approach combined with value and da'wah analysis. The method is qualitative, applying philological stages such as inventory, description, transliteration, and textual criticism to produce a reliable text edition close to the original form. The analysis is strengthened by hermeneutics and da'wah studies to interpret meanings, values, and messages contextually. The findings show that the manuscript has a structured sermon format consisting of opening, main content, and closing, with strong rhetorical and religious functions. The text contains core values such as tawhid, obedience, sacrifice, social solidarity, and morality, as well as da'wah messages emphasizing piety, qurban practice, ukhuwah, and social awareness. Although limited by the absence of data regarding authorship and transcription time, the manuscript remains relevant as a source of Islamic values. This study shows that combining philology with interpretive approaches can enrich textual meaning and support Islamic studies development in contemporary society and strengthening cultural understanding among modern Muslim communities today worldwide context.

This study aims to analyze the relationship between self-control and the moral development of students at Medan State University. Self-control is an individual's ability to control emotions, impulses, and behavior to align with prevailing moral norms and values in both academic and social settings. This study employed quantitative methods, collecting data through questionnaires distributed to students. The research instrument was used to measure students' levels of self-control and their moral development, as reflected in their attitudes of responsibility, honesty, discipline, and ethical behavior on campus. The data obtained were analyzed to determine the relationship between the two variables. The results showed that students' levels of self-control were considered good and had a positive relationship with moral development. This suggests that students with better self-control tend to display behaviors consistent with prevailing moral values and norms. Therefore, self-control plays a crucial role in the moral development of students, necessitating ongoing efforts by universities to support the development of self-control through character development and academic activities oriented toward moral values.

The moral crisis in contemporary education demands a reconstruction of moral values derived from the Qur'an as the epistemological foundation of Islamic education. This study aims to identify and analyze the moral educational values found in Surah Al-Imran, verse 159, particularly through the perspectives of Ibn Kathir’s tafsir and Quraish Shihab’s Tafsir Al-Misbah, and formulate its implications for contemporary Islamic education practices. Using a qualitative approach with a library research method, this study analyzes primary data from Ibn Kathir’s tafsir and Tafsir Al-Misbah, confronted with secondary literature on moral education theory. The analysis technique used was content analysis with a comparative-analytical approach to extract both explicit and implicit moral educational values. The findings revealed three fundamental values: first, gentleness (ar-rifq) as a humanistic pedagogical communication method; second, forgiveness (al-‘afw) as a mechanism for restoring educational relationships; third, consultation (asy-syura) as a democratic principle in educational decision-making. This study concludes that these values are not merely individual ethics but methodological principles that must be integrated into the culture of Islamic educational institutions. Practically, this requires a transformation from authoritarian-monological to dialogical-participatory educational approaches and strengthening educators' socio-emotional competencies.

This study aims to analyze the short story “Siapakah Keluarga dari Tubuh yang Kacau Itu?” by Radja Sinaga using structural and moral approaches in order to obtain a comprehensive understanding of its content and meaning. The structural approach is employed to examine intrinsic elements, including theme, characters and characterization, plot, setting, point of view, language style, and message. Meanwhile, the moral approach is used to reveal the ethical values and life lessons contained in the short story. This study applies a descriptive qualitative method, with data collected through library research by means of intensive reading and systematic note-taking of the text. The results show that the short story demonstrates a strong structural unity, with the main theme focusing on human suffering caused by war and the loss of family. In addition, several moral values are identified, such as humanity, familial love, criticism of violence, loss of identity, and resilience in facing suffering. The use of the second-person point of view also strengthens the reader’s emotional engagement with the story. Therefore, the combination of structural and moral approaches provides a deeper understanding of the meaning of the short story and its relevance to real-life contexts. This study is expected to enrich literary studies and enhance readers’ appreciation of literary works.

Changes in values in modern society have led to a shift in the meaning of love in marital relationships, from moral and spiritual commitment to momentary emotions oriented towards personal satisfaction. This shift has weakened long-term commitment and increased relational conflict within families. Islam, with its concept of marriage as mitsāqan ghalīẓā and love as amanah, offers a relevant normative framework to respond to this crisis. This study aims to examine the concept of marriage in Islam and analyze how the values of sakinah, mawaddah, and raḥmah can be solutions to the crisis of the meaning of love in modern families. The method used is a qualitative literature study, through an examination of classical and contemporary Islamic literature and scientific studies on the dynamics of modern families and relationships. The data were analyzed thematically to identify the relationship between the meaning of love, commitment, and relational conflict. The results and discussion show that reducing love to mere emotion weakens the stability of marriage, while understanding love as a spiritual and moral trust strengthens empathy, communication, and conflict resolution mechanisms. The principles of ṣabr, raḥmah, and musyawarah have proven to play an important role in maintaining the resilience of relationships. In conclusion, Islamic marriage values provide a solid and adaptive ethical foundation for building a harmonious, mature, and sustainable family amid the challenges of modernity.

This study examines the contribution of Aqidah, Sharia, and Morals to the formation of Muslim character. Aqidah serves as the foundation of faith, Sharia serves as a guideline for regulating daily behavior, while Morals are the manifestation of ethical behavior reflected in social life. These three components are interrelated and together form a balanced Muslim personality. The approach and method used in this study were qualitative, using a literature review method obtained through theories of Islamic education, character formation, and moral development from various books and scientific journals. The collected data were then subjected to further analysis. The results of the study indicate that the integration of Aqidah, Sharia, and Morals plays a role in shaping individuals with strong spiritual awareness, commendable behavior, and social responsibility. Individuals who possess strong Aqidah, consistently adhere to Sharia, and practice good Morals tend to demonstrate honesty, discipline, and empathy in social life. Furthermore, character education based on Islamic values can also strengthen moral awareness and create harmonious social relationships. The implications of this research suggest that both formal and non-formal educational institutions need to integrate faith values, religious practices, and morals into character education programs. This integration is expected to produce a generation with integrity, religious character, and the ability to adapt to the challenges of the modern era.

Civic Education holds a strategic position within the national education system as the primary instrument for shaping the personality of citizens in alignment with the values of Pancasila. This research is motivated by the phenomenon of moral degradation and the fading spirit of nationalism among the younger generation due to the unfiltered influence of globalization. The primary objective of this study is to analyze the extent of Civic Education's role in the school environment in transforming student character to possess noble morals, broad national insight, and a deep love for the motherland. The research method employed is a literature study with a qualitative approach, where data were collected through the analysis of various curriculum documents, scientific journals, and textbooks relevant to the implementation of the independent curriculum. Research findings indicate that Civic Education is not merely a theoretical transfer of civic knowledge but rather an effective process of value internalization through behavioral habituation within the school environment. The integration of teaching materials with practical applications in school life is proven to increase students' awareness of their rights and obligations as citizens. The analysis also reveals that strengthening moral character and national insight highly depends on teacher creativity in delivering interactive learning that is relevant to the students' social reality. The implications of this research emphasize the importance of revitalizing Civic Education teaching methods to be more adaptive to modern developments without losing national identity. Schools are expected to serve as laboratories of democracy and centers for sowing patriotic values to produce a golden generation that is not only intellectually competent but also possesses strong moral integrity to maintain the integrity of the Republic of Indonesia.

Modern higher education faces significant challenges regarding character crisis and moral degradation amidst mass digitalization. This study aims to analyze the mechanism of internalizing ethical values from Ibn Jama’ah's book Tadzkirat al-Sāmi‘ wa al-Mutakallim among STIT Riyadhussholihiin students as a response to contemporary moral issues]. The research employs a qualitative descriptive-analytical approach, combining field research and library research through content analysis, observation, and in-depth interviews. The findings reveal that the internalization process occurs systematically through stages of value transformation, transaction, and transinternalization. Key ethical values internalized include soul purification (tazkiyatun nafs), sincerity of intention, time management, and adab toward educators. The success of this internalization relies heavily on the synergy between students' intrinsic awareness, lecturers' role modeling (uswah hasanah), and a conducive campus ecosystem. The implication of this study is the provision of a practical strategy for Islamic higher education institutions to produce graduates who are khair al-barīyah—individuals who possess broad knowledge, fear of Allah, and leadership integrity.

The creation narrative in Genesis 1–2 serves as an essential theological foundation for understanding the origin of the world and the nature of humanity. This text not only describes God’s creative acts but also affirms the unique dignity of human beings. This study aims to examine the meaning of the creation narrative in Genesis 1–2 and its relevance to the concept of human dignity in the modern era. The method employed is a literature study using exegetical and theological approaches, through analysis of biblical texts and relevant scholarly sources. The findings indicate that Genesis 1 emphasizes order, the goodness of creation, and the creation of humans in the image and likeness of God (imago Dei), while Genesis 2 highlights the relational and existential dimensions of humanity, including relationships with God, others, and nature. The concept of imago Dei affirms that humans possess intrinsic value, freedom, reason, and moral responsibility. In a contemporary context, this narrative remains relevant as an ethical foundation to reject violations of human dignity such as discrimination, violence, and exploitation, while also encouraging ecological awareness and responsibility toward the environment. Therefore, the creation narrative holds not only theological significance but also contributes meaningfully to the development of humane, dignified, and sustainable values.

This community service activity aims to instill religious values in the students at TPQ Miftakhul Huda by establishing the habit of praying before and after wudu, as an effort to transform worship practices from mere physical routines into profound spiritual experiences. Using the Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD) approach, this program is carried out through five main stages: discovery, dream, design, define, and do. The results of the activity indicate that through intensive demonstration and practical guidance, the students experienced significant improvement in discipline, awareness of maintaining purity, and moral responsibility as manifestations of Muslim character from an early age. Integrating prayer into the wudu practice has proven effective as an educational tool in building the foundation of faith from an early age, or the “golden age.” The synergy between the student team, educators, and the utilization of institutional facilities proved effective in establishing operational standards for character education that comprehensively integrate physical, mental, and theological aspects. Thus, the practice of wudu prayer serves as a strategic educational tool in strengthening children’s foundational faith during the golden age amidst the challenges of shifting global values.

The research in this paper aims to explore the concepts and principles of the educational environment from the perspective of the Qur'an and Hadith using a tafsir tarbawi (educational exegesis) approach. The developmental dynamics of human potential, both spiritual and intellectual, do not occur in a vacuum but are heavily influenced by environmental factors (educational ecology). By employing textual, thematic, and contextual analysis methods on several key verses such as QS. Al-Alaq: 1-5, QS. At-Tahrim: 6, QS. Luqman: 13-19, QS. Al-Kahfi: 66-70, and QS. Al-Hujurat: 13 this study maps the Islamic educational ecosystem into several primary domains. The results of the analysis indicate that the Qur'an constructs the educational environment as an integrative macro-systemic unity, comprising the domestic family environment (as a fortress for moral and creedal protection), the formal academic school/pesantren environment (as a space for teacher-student etiquette and ethics), and the socio-communal environment (as an arena for egalitarian multicultural inclusivity). Furthermore, this study formulates five fundamental paradigms of Islamic educational ecology: the integralistic, tawhid (monotheistic), humanistic-egalitarian, gradual-systemic, and transformational-emancipatory paradigms. This theoretical reconstruction corrects Western secular empiricism while simultaneously providing a holistic foundation for educators in managing an educational environment that aligns with divine revelation values and the demands of modern civilization.

This research is driven by the significance of examining language meaning, particularly connotative meaning which is often used to convey implicit messages in literary works. Folktales, as one type of oral literature, often utilize character names that carry specific meanings, such as Malin Kundang from Minangkabau. The aim of this research is to uncover the connotative meaning of the character name “Malin Kundang”, as well as its relationship with the moral and cultural values of the society. The methodology involves qualitative research using semantic analysis and a descriptive approach. Data were collected from the Malin Kundang folktale text thru library study and documentation techniques. Next, the processes of identification, classification, and interpretation of meaning were done in order to examine the data. The research result show that denotatively, the name Malin Kundang only functions as the identity of the character, but connotatively, it functions as a symbol of a disobedient child who does not respect their parents. The meaning is formed from the plot of the story and reinforced by the Minangkabau cultural values that uphold respect for parents. The implications of this research indicate that the naming of characters in folklore is not only linguistic but also reflects the moral and cultural values inherited by society.
