This study employs the 4-D development model (Define, Design, Develop, and Disseminate) adapted from Thiagarajan et al. (1974) to develop a Digital Storytelling medium using Canva for the topic “Family” in Senior High School (SMA/MA). A needs analysis was conducted in the Define phase, revealing that students experienced difficulties in listening and speaking. In the Design phase, a context-based story medium with illustrations, texts, and German audio narration was created. During the Develop phase, the product was validated by two experts. A German language instructor reviewed the material and deemed it suitable for use without revisions. The material validation results showed that the medium is usable without revision, as the material was rated clear, systematic, complete, engaging, and easy to understand. The material expert’s evaluation covered five categories, resulting in a total material score of 95. A media expert evaluated the medium along with audio and video content. The media expert’s assessment included ten categories, resulting in a total media score of 95. Meanwhile, data validation indicated that the medium can be further used with minor revisions, such as enhancing visual elements to make it more dynamic and adjusting audio quality to improve listening comfort. The results of this study show that the development process of the Digital Storytelling medium using Canva for the “Family” topic in Senior High School successfully produced an engaging and communicative product that matches the characteristics of beginner German language learners. This medium contains a story on the theme “Family,” complemented by illustrations, texts, and audio content. The developed video has been uploaded to the YouTube platform to facilitate access for teachers and students.

In German language courses at universities, students must learn four skills: reading, writing, listening, and speaking. To master these four skills, students must have a good command of vocabulary, as this is the foundation needed to master the German language. This software does not require programming code, so users can easily add graphics and sounds to the game. Without vocabulary, skills such as reading, writing, speaking, and listening cannot be performed. This study aims to create a Construct 2 application that can be used by college students to increase their A1 level German vocabulary. The data for this study is A1 level German vocabulary with the theme “Guten Appetit,” and another source of data is the book “Netzwerk neu A1 Kursbuch” published by Ernst Klett Sprachen GmbH in 2019. This research will be conducted in the foreign language laboratory at UNIMED. The application will be tested by subject matter experts and learning media experts. This research will be published in a nationally indexed journal.

The researcher used a qualitative descriptive research type at Robbaniyyin Middle School. The data sources were all 24 students in grade IX of Robbaniyyin Plus Middle School, Islamic Religious Education teachers and the Principal. Data collection instruments were observation, interviews and documentation studies. The results of this study indicate that there is student learning activity in the Islamic Religious Education learning process in grade IX of Robbaniyyin Middle School, namely students are active in writing, reading, speaking, listening, moving, discussing and asking and answering questions. Meanwhile, the factors that influence students in increasing their learning activity are from within the students, namely: healthy physique, having strong attention, perception and memory. From outside the students, namely: a place far from the sound of vehicles, facilities namely personal stationery, a clean room and a clean classroom whiteboard, then the teacher's varied learning methods such as the lecture method with the material of faith in Allah SWT, the practice method with the material of reading and writing the Quran and the method of presentation with the material of congregational prayer.

This study reports on an Independent Community Service Program (KKN Mandiri) conducted in Dusun Betu Raja 3, aimed at strengthening Islamic awareness through community-based educational activities. The program focused on two main initiatives: parenting dialogues with mothers, emphasizing child-rearing practices in line with Islamic values, and interactive sessions with children that introduced moral lessons from the stories of the prophets. Using participatory methods such as discussions, interactive lectures, and storytelling, the activities encouraged active engagement and created a supportive learning environment. Findings indicate that mothers gained a deeper understanding of the significance of Islamic parenting in shaping children’s moral character, while children demonstrated enthusiasm in listening to and applying the values embedded in prophetic stories. The program highlights the effectiveness of dialogical and narrative-based approaches in promoting religious awareness within rural communities. Overall, this initiative contributes not only to the development of individual family practices but also to the collective strengthening of Islamic identity in village life.

This study explores the discipleship and character of the Samaritan woman as portrayed in the Gospel of John. The background emphasizes that discipleship is not merely about listening to Jesus’ teachings but involves a personal relationship, obedience, and life transformation. The Gospel of John offers a unique perspective by presenting that Christ’s disciples are not limited to men but also include women, as illustrated in the narrative of the Samaritan woman at the well. This research employs a qualitative method with a literature review approach, focusing on biblical texts and relevant studies. The findings reveal that the discipleship process of the Samaritan woman demonstrates a progressive transformation: from initial skepticism to faith and recognition of Jesus as the Messiah. This transformation unfolds through three key dimensions: the dialogue on living water, the understanding of true worship, and the testimony shared with her community. The Samaritan woman emerges as a genuine disciple through her faith, courageous witness, and role as Christ’s representative in proclaiming universal salvation. Her notable traits include openness, honesty, curiosity, courage, and willingness to change. The study highlights that the Gospel of John portrays discipleship as inclusive, affirming the role of women as models of faith. Its implications provide theological insight into the equality of disciples in Christ and offer relevance for today’s church in fostering participatory and transformative faith communities.

The approach used in this research is descriptive qualitative. Observation, interviews, and documentation are used for the data collection process. There are 4 respondents from banquet employees, and 3 respondents from guests who have used meeting services at Hotel Bintang Empat Padang. By listening and transcribing and using NVivo software to analyze the data. The results of the research obtained that the implementation of the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for Organizing Meetings at the Four Star Hotel Padang has not been optimal. seen from the role of event technicians (engineering), officers, supervisors, and banquet managers who have not fully implemented properly according to the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) that has been set. The study aims to explore the experience of corporate guests in evaluating room and meeting room services at the Whiz Prime Hotel Padang. The approach used in this research is qualitative research with an exploratory approach. Interviews, and documentation used for the data collection process. There are five informants from corporate guests who have already used the rooms and meeting rooms at the Whiz Prime Hotel Padang. By listening and transmitting and using Nvivo, QSR International software for qualitative data analysis. The results of this study show that the custumer experience dimension has a strong correlation with the corporate guest experience at the Whiz Prime Hotel Padang. As seen from the guest experience during your stay, the custumer experience dimension plays an important role for guests, staff and hotel Whiz Prime Hotel Padang. Companies can look at complaints as well as improve existing facilities to gain the experience of guests staying so that they can have a positive impact on the future of the hotel

The initiative "FUN ENGLISH LISTENING FOR KIDS" at SD IT Nurul Fikri aims to enhance the English language proficiency of young learners through innovative methods. This project utilizes stereophonic styrofoam to introduce and reinforce English vocabulary among elementary school students. Under the guidance of fifth-semester students from the English Language Teaching Program at IAIN Palangka Raya, the project involves stages of introducing vocabulary, using styrofoam to associate sounds with vocabulary, and interactive sessions. This engaging learning method has successfully improved the English skills of elementary students at SD IT Nurul Fikri, demonstrating the potential of creative methods in language education.

Pragmatics is a subdiscipline of linguistics that studies the application of language in social communication by considering situational factors, the purpose of the conversation, and the status of the interlocutor. The main focus of this research is on directive speech acts. A directive speech act is a type of speech act aimed at prompting action from the speech partners by the speaker's direction. This research analyzes the directive speech acts in the movie Home Sweet Loan. A theoretical approach with pragmatic analysis and a methodological approach using a qualitative descriptive method are applied in this research. Data collection employs listening and recording techniques, utilizing the advanced technique of unparticipatory listening. The presentation of the data uses informal techniques. The results indicate a diversity of types of directive speech acts used in the dialogues of this film, including asking, ordering, suggesting, pleading, urging, commanding, advising, charging, and inviting. This finding highlights the importance of directive speech acts in sustaining communication between speakers and partners, clarifying the meaning of each interaction in the social dynamics portrayed in the film. This research contributes to a broader and deeper understanding of speech closely related to social context.  

This study analyzes the quality of content and the ineffectiveness of sentences in opinion texts found on the "Liputan6.com" website in February 2025 as reading material and sources of information for students. This study uses descriptive qualitative research methods and a syntactic approach. Qualitative research and syntactic approaches are used to analyze the quality of content and effective sentences. The research data is the result of identifying ineffective sentences used in opinion texts on the "Liputan6.com" website, February 2025 Edition as reading material and a source of information for students. The data collection technique in this study uses a syntactic approach in the form of listening and note-taking techniques. In this study, data presentation was carried out using informal methods. The data is presented in a table containing several ineffective sentences and their corrections. The results of the analysis of opinion texts found on the February 2025 edition of the "Liputan6.com" website found 263 structured sentences, consisting of 140 effective sentences and 133 ineffective sentences. From this study, ineffective sentences are classified into 5 categories, namely 14 ineffective sentences due to excessive use of words, 19 due to inappropriate word choice, 12 due to use of foreign languages, 5 due to inappropriate use of conjunctions, 9 due to illogical sentences, 6 due to incorrect use of punctuation, 3 due to use of sentences that are too simple. This study can help writers pay attention to how they write opinion texts that are in accordance with linguistic rules and are useful as a guideline for writing effective sentences.

The focus of this article is on analyzing sentences found in opinion texts. The primary goal is to evaluate the effectiveness of sentences in opinion articles from the January 2025 edition of "Harian Jogja" as instructional materials for reading comprehension, particularly regarding word choice and punctuation. A qualitative descriptive method is employed, with a syntactic theoretical framework. The data presented is based on the analysis of sentence effectiveness in the opinion texts from the January 2025 edition of "Harian Jogja." Data collection includes listening and note-taking techniques, while the analysis uses the Aghigh technique. The data is informally presented in tables that highlight ineffective sentences along with their corrections. The study of three opinion texts from the "Harian Jogja" website in January 2025 resulted in a total of 147 sentences, with 118 effective and 16 ineffective sentences. Specifically, in the opinion article titled "Ethics and Productivity of Generation Z," 37 sentences were effective and 5 were ineffective; in "The Rise of Online Purchasing Fraud," 55 sentences were effective and 15 were ineffective; and in "Going through Digital Transformation: Recruitment Challenges in Banking," 26 sentences were effective and 9 were ineffective. This study aims to help distinguish between effective and ineffective sentences in texts.

This study is based on the urgency of understanding assertive speech acts as part of pragmatic studies in speech acts in the movie Sweet 20 by Ody C. Harap. Sweet 20 was chosen because of its richness in dialogue and cross-generational representation, thus allowing in-depth analysis of speech acts. This research aims to identify, classify, and analyze the form and function of assertive speech acts used by the characters in the film. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative with a pragmatic approach. The data were obtained through listening and note-taking techniques on the characters' speech in the movie. Data analysis refers to Searle and Galassi's speech act theory, which emphasizes assertive speech acts. The results show various forms of assertive speech acts, such as stating, telling, suggesting, boasting, complaining, reporting, expressing positive emotions, self-affirmation, and expressing negative emotions, which are influenced by the social and cultural context in the movie. This research contributes to the development of pragmatics studies in linguistics, can be used as a reference in learning Indonesian, especially speaking skills, and provides further insight into the use of speech acts in audio-visual media.

This research is motivated by the fact that effective sentences in historical articles can be a path to progressive learning. The article “Sejarah Dunia” (World History), October 2024 edition on sejarahkita.com, was chosen as the object of research because of its relevance as a medium that can provide historical information in a clear and interesting way. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the effectiveness of sentences in articles that are directed at history education, which not only focus on facts but also on the development of critical thinking skills. The method used is descriptive qualitative with listening and recording techniques. The author analyzes the sentence structure, word choice, coherence between sentences, and the chronological flow of the article using distributional and matching methods. The collected data will be tabulated to identify syntactic errors, accuracy of diction, and spelling. The findings show that the article contains a number of shortcomings in sentence structure, where the message conveyed is less clear. However, in some ways, the article also succeeds in conveying an informative and relevant history. This study will provide benefits and insights into effective sentences in historical articles to provide a basis for readers to understand various suggestions and models for progressive learning oriented towards critical thinking. In addition, this study also provides added value by preserving historical values through an easy and interesting presentation.

Therefore, this study will focus on the effectiveness of a sentence in a collection of opinions. This study was conducted to describe the effectiveness of sentences in a collection of opinions as critical reading teaching materials. This type of study is qualitative with a descriptive method; the technique for collecting data is using the listening and note-taking technique. The results of this study indicate that there are still several sentences that are not effective, so that readers have difficulty capturing their contents properly. Effective sentences meet requirements such as the economy of words, commensurate structure, logical language, and careful reasoning. Meanwhile, ineffective sentences occur because the structure of the sentence does not show unity, is wasteful of words or long-winded explanations, and lacks clarity in conveying information. This study is driven by the researcher’s interest in exploring the various forms of expressive speech acts that appear in the movie “Budi Pekerti.” The primary objective of this research is to identify the types of expressive speech acts performed by the characters in the film. Data were collected using observation and note-taking methods, specifically the free listening approach (simak bebas libat cakap, SBLC) and recording techniques. The analysis was conducted using a pragmatic framework, focusing on dialogue excerpts from the film’s characters. The findings reveal that the characters utilize seven types of expressive speech acts: expressing gratitude, giving praise, apologizing, criticizing, complaining, insinuating, and blaming. This study demonstrates that the expressive speech acts in “Budi Pekerti” are closely tied to the social and cultural context of the story. Each type of expressive speech act conveys functions and meanings that reflect the characters’ emotions and attitudes in specific situations. Overall, this research contributes to a better understanding of how expressive speech acts are used in film media and serves as a reference for future studies related to language use in diverse social and cultural contexts.

The Communication process of human life will not be separated because language has an important role in conveying information. Pragmatics is a field of science that examines the relationship between language and its context and the relationship between language use and its users. This article will focus more on analyzing illocutionary speech acts in a podcast, where the speech act discusses the existence of social, political symptoms, and its sustainability depends on the speaker's language skills in the speech act. The purpose of the study is to identify the use of illocutionary speech acts in the podcast “Indonesia Lebih Baik” on Raymond Chin's YouTube channel. This research uses two approaches, namely pragmatic theoretical and qualitative descriptive methodology. The data is in the form of discourse in the podcast “Indonesia Lebih Baik” on Raymond Chin's YouTube channel, retrieving data using the method of listening and recording and the technique of free listening. The data is analyzed using the commensurate method, and the agih method, and the presentation uses formal and informal data presentation methods. The result shows that there are 426 illocutionary speech acts in the podcast video “Indonesia Lebih Baik” on Raymond Chin's YouTube account and if it is detailed there are 178 repsentative speech acts, 70 directive speech acts, 44 expressive speech acts, 33 commissive speech acts, and 101 declarative speech acts. The dominating speech act is representative speech which is 178 data. While the least data found is 33 data on commissive speech. The realization of this paper is expected to be useful in enriching pragmatic studies on social media speech acts to create an effective work of art, as well as facilitating the public to better understand the purpose and function of speech acts in the ever-growing digital media.
