The Labor-Intensive Housing Program is one of the Surabaya City Government’s policies aimed at reducing poverty and unemployment through labor-intensive community empowerment. This study aims to describe and analyze the implementation of the Labor-Intensive Housing Program (RPK) at the Pitstop business unit in Lidah Kulon Village, Lakarsantri Subdistrict, Surabaya City. This study employs a qualitative method with a descriptive approach, utilizing Van Meter and Van’s policy implementation theory. Primary data were collected through interviews and observations, while secondary data were derived from official documents and relevant publications. The results showed that the implementation of the Pitstop Labor Intensive Housing Program has not yet been optimal. In terms of policy standards and objectives, the program’s goals have been clearly defined but have not yet been fully achieved. Regarding resources, the availability of facilities and funding is adequate, but there are still limitations in human resources, particularly skilled technicians in the automotive repair field. Inter organizational communication has taken place but has not been intensive enough to support business sustainability. Characteristics of the implementing agents indicate that the structure of the Labor-Intensive Housing team has been clearly defined; however, implementation in the field has not been optimal due to weak coordination and communication. Economic, social, and political conditions-such as a less-than-strategic business location and high competition from similar businesses-have also contributed to the low number of customers. Meanwhile, the disposition of the implementers demonstrates a positive attitude in supporting the Labor-Intensive Housing program. The Labor-Intensive Housing Program must be supported by professional mechanics through education, certification, and collaboration with the private sector and training institutions to ensure the quality of services. In addition, building public trust, coordination among stakeholders, and intensive support through monitoring and evaluation are key to the success and sustainability of the Labor-Intensive Housing Program.

This study explores the themes of poverty and educational values in the novel Al-Bidayah wa al-Nihayah by Naguib Mahfouz using the sociology of literature approach developed by Alan Swingewood. The novel is selected because it portrays the social reality of Egyptian society in the 1940s, particularly the lower class facing economic hardship, social inequality, and limited social mobility. This research employs a qualitative descriptive method through reading, note-taking, and library research. The data are drawn from narratives, dialogues, and events in the novel that reflect both poverty and educational values. The analysis is conducted by relating the textual content to its social and historical context. The findings indicate that poverty is not merely an economic issue but also a structural condition affecting the psychological, moral, and social aspects of the characters. Furthermore, the novel conveys educational values, including religious, moral, social, and cultural dimensions, which are closely linked to the realities of pre-revolutionary Egyptian society. Overall, Swingewood’s approach highlights the novel as a form of social critique as well as a medium for fostering readers’ social awareness.

Limited competence among teachers in systematically managing scientific references remains one of the main challenges in producing high-quality scientific writing. This community service activity aims to enhance the competence of Biology MGMP teachers in Sidoarjo in reference management through a Smart Referencing approach using the Mendeley application as a Reference Management System. The methods employed include training sessions, hands-on practice, and mentoring in the use of Mendeley, covering installation, library management, and the automatic integration of citations and bibliographies into scientific documents. The evaluation of the activity was conducted through questionnaire distribution to measure participants’ improvement in understanding and skills. The analysis results indicate that several technical aspects, such as the use of the Mendeley plugin in Microsoft Word (score = 3.40) and the overall ease of use of the application (score = 3.00), fall into the high category on a maximum scale of 4. Work discipline is a crucial element in improving employee performance, particularly in the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME) sector such as automotive workshops, which often face managerial and structural challenges. This study aims to explore the understanding, implementation, and influence of work discipline on employee performance at Gandi Jaya Motor Workshop, Jombang, within a local context characterized by religious values and informal work culture. The research employs a descriptive qualitative method with a case study approach. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation, and were analyzed thematically. The findings reveal that work discipline is perceived as a form of personal responsibility driven by leadership example and religious values, rather than by formal systems alone. External factors such as limited infrastructure and the absence of a structured HR evaluation system also affect performance effectiveness. These findings expand the scope of Work Discipline and Employee Performance theories by incorporating social and cultural dimensions as determinants of work behavior. The study concludes by emphasizing the need for a humanistic approach to HR management in MSMEs and recommends further exploration with broader participant coverage and more diverse methodological approaches.

Environmental damage caused by human activities has become an increasingly pressing global issue. Poetry as a literary work has the power to represent ecological problems symbolically and critically. This study aims to describe the representation of the impact of the environmental crisis in Taufiq Ismail's poems, namely "Menengajah Ke Atas, Merenungi Ozone yang Tak terlihat" and "Membaca Tanda-Tanda." The analysis is based on Greg Garrard's ecocritical study. This study uses a qualitative method with content analysis techniques. There are two stages of analysis, namely the literal and symbolic meaning of the poems, then an ecocritical interpretation is carried out based on Garrard's categories which include pollution, wilderness, apocalypse, dwelling, animals, and earth. The results of the study indicate that both poems represent the impact of the environmental crisis through health problems due to pollution and radiation, damage to water and forest ecosystems, climate change, threats to human living space, and the decline in biodiversity. The research findings also show that the most dominant categories are pollution and apocalypse, which confirms that the environmental crisis in Taufiq Ismail's poems is the result of human behavior that ignores nature. Thus, Taufiq Ismail's poems not only function as aesthetic works, but also as cultural criticism and moral warnings for humanity.
