In today’s rapidly changing global context, employee motivation has emerged as a strategic issue in human resource management, particularly in sustaining organizational productivity and competitiveness. Developments such as digitalization, economic uncertainty, and workplace transformation have prompted companies to focus more deeply on effective motivational approaches. Recognizing the role of motivation in influencing employee retention, productivity, and operational efficiency, this study conducts a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) to map key concepts and empirical trends regarding the relationship between employee motivation and organizational performance. Grounded in theoretical frameworks such as Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs, Herzberg’s Two-Factor Theory, and Self-Determination Theory, the study examines major drivers including leadership, compensation, and work-life balance. Findings reveal paradoxes in motivational strategy effectiveness across sectors and highlight research gaps, particularly in cross-industry approaches and integrative synthesis. This study provides valuable contributions for academics and practitioners in designing evidence-based, context-relevant motivation strategies aligned with the dynamics of modern organizations.

This study aims to determine the effect of training, compensation, and work facilities on employee performance at the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Langsa City. The approach used in this research is quantitative, with a population of 156 employees. The sample determination in this study is a random sampling technique, and the calculation uses the Slovin formula with an error rate of 5% (0.05), so that the number of respondents in this study is 112 people. The data analysis method used is multiple linear regression, t test for partial analysis, F test for simultaneous analysis, and the coefficient of determination test (Adjusted R²). So from the results of multiple linear regression, the equation Y = 10.491 + 0.247X₁ + 0.275X₂ + 0.255X₃ is obtained. Thus, based on the t-test results, it shows that training has a significant value (t sig.) of 0.000 < 0.05, compensation of 0.001 < 0.05, and work facilities of 0.012 < 0.05. This result indicates that training, compensation, and work facilities significantly affect employee performance at BPBD Langsa City. Furthermore, the F test results show a significant value (F sig.) of 0.000 < 0.05, which explains that training, compensation, and work facilities simultaneously significantly influence employee performance. The coefficient of determination test (Adjusted R²) produces a value of 0.336, which indicates that the variables of training, compensation, and work facilities affect employee performance by 33.6%. The remaining 66.4% is influenced by other variables not included in this study, such as occupational safety and health (OHS), work stress, work experience, competence, workload, job satisfaction, work culture, work discipline and external organisational factors.

The study population includes all 39 employees of the office, with a census sampling technique so that all members of the population are respondents. The research instrument was tested for validity and reliability, while data analysis was carried out using multiple linear regression tests and t-tests using the SPSS version 23 program for Windows. The test results show that training has a significant effect on employee performance, with a significance value of 0.011 and a calculated t of 2.678 > t table 2.02269. Furthermore, compensation also has a significant effect on employee performance, with a significance value of 0.009 and a calculated t of 2.755 > t table 2.02269. Beta coefficient analysis shows that compensation has the most dominant influence on employee performance, with a Standardized Coefficient Beta value of 0.440. This finding indicates that improving training quality and providing adequate compensation can contribute significantly to employee performance in local government agencies. This study aims to examine the influence of cross-cultural leadership style and reward provision on employee job satisfaction, with workload serving as an intervening variable. The research was conducted at PT X, a multinational company managed by foreign leaders who come from diverse cultural backgrounds. As organizations become increasingly global, understanding how leadership and reward systems function in multicultural environments is essential to improving workforce performance and satisfaction. This research applies a quantitative approach using survey methods, with data collected through questionnaires distributed to 105 employees across various departments. The analysis was carried out using structural equation modeling (SEM) to explore both direct and indirect relationships among the variables. The findings show that cross-cultural leadership style has a significant positive impact on workload, suggesting that cultural differences in leadership influence how employees perceive and handle their tasks. Furthermore, reward provision shows a strong and direct influence on job satisfaction, highlighting the importance of fair compensation and recognition in motivating employees.Importantly, the study also finds that workload partially mediates the relationship between leadership style and job satisfaction. This indicates that leadership practices affect job satisfaction not only directly but also through the perceived amount and nature of the work assigned. These results underscore the necessity for companies, particularly those with a multicultural workforce, to adopt inclusive leadership models and implement transparent, performance-based reward systems. By doing so, organizations can create a more supportive work environment, improve employee morale, and ultimately enhance overall productivity and satisfaction.

This study aims to determine the effect of Discipline and Motivation on Employee Performance at PLTU Pangkalan Susu Sejahtera. The research was conducted at PLTU Pangkalan Susu Sejahtera with a total of 48 respondents. The sampling technique used in this study was total sampling, so the sample size was 48 respondents. The results of the validity and reliability tests indicate that each question item produced from the questionnaire data is valid and reliable. The data quality tests, namely the normality test, show that the data is normally and significantly distributed. Furthermore, the multicollinearity test also indicates no multicollinearity, as the Tolerance value is >10 and the VIF value is <10. Meanwhile, the heteroscedasticity test shows that the data is not homogeneous, meaning it does not form a specific pattern and is evenly spread throughout the area. The results of the hypothesis test show that, based on the t-test, the variables that influence Employee Performance are Compensation Motivation and Discipline, both of which have an effect. The detailed t-test results are as follows: For variable X1, the t-count is 6.604, while the t-table is 2.014, so t-count (6.604) > t-table (2.014). This is also supported by a significant value of 0.003 (0.003 < 0.050), meaning that Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted, which implies that Discipline has a significant effect on Employee Performance. For variable X2, the t-count is 4.452, while the t-table is 2.014, so t-count (4.452) > t-table (2.014). This is also supported by a significant value of 0.004 (0.004 < 0.05), meaning that Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted, which implies that Motivation has a significant effect on Employee Performance. The F-test result shows that F-count is 11.021, which is greater than the F-table value of 3.20. This is further supported by a significance level of 0.003, which is smaller than α = 0.05, meaning Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted. Discipline and Work Motivation (simultaneously) have an effect on Employee Performance. The R-square value is 62.2%, which means that the independent variables in this study contribute significantly, while the remaining 37.8% is influenced by other factors outside this study.

Remote work has expanded rapidly in Indonesia and created new challenges for sustaining employee performance in digitally mediated work settings. This study examines the role of employee engagement in mediating the effects of compensation and career development on the performance of remote workers. A quantitative approach was employed using survey data from 200 Indonesian remote workers, and the relationships among variables were analyzed through Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling. The results show that compensation and career development both have significant positive effects on employee engagement, while employee engagement has a strong positive effect on employee performance. The direct effect of compensation on performance is not significant, indicating that its influence operates mainly through engagement. In contrast, career development affects performance both directly and indirectly through engagement. These findings indicate that employee engagement is a key mechanism linking organizational support to remote employee performance. The study implies that organizations should not rely solely on financial rewards, but also provide clear career pathways, continuous learning opportunities, regular feedback, and meaningful recognition to strengthen engagement and improve performance in remote work environments.
