Financial purity is a fundamental principle in Islamic economics that emphasizes the management of assets in a halal, fair, and responsible manner in accordance with sharia provisions. In the context of Islamic financial institutions, zakat plays a strategic role as an instrument for the purification of assets (tazkiyat al-mal) and as a mechanism for wealth redistribution to achieve social justice. This study aims to analyze the role of zakat in maintaining the financial purity of Islamic financial institutions. The research method used is a quantitative approach with an explanatory design. Data were collected through a structured questionnaire distributed to managers and related parties in Islamic financial institutions that have zakat management programs. The research variables include zakat management as the independent variable and financial purity as the dependent variable, which were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistical techniques. The results of this study indicate that zakat management has a positive and significant impact on the financial sanctity of Islamic financial institutions, primarily through increased sharia compliance, transparency, and institutional accountability. This finding confirms that zakat serves not only as an obligatory act of worship but also as a strategic instrument in strengthening the ethics, legitimacy, and social responsibility of Islamic financial institutions. This research is expected to provide theoretical and practical contributions to the development of sustainable zakat governance in the Islamic financial system.

Tajwid learning in rural mosque communities (DKM) is generally conventional, unstructured, and has not optimally utilized community potential, resulting in low quality of Qur’anic recitation (tahsin). This community service aims to improve the quality of santri’s Qur’anic recitation at DKM Al-Islah, Pangadegan Village, Pagelaran District, Cianjur Regency, through learning the Matan Tuhfatul Athfal using an Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD) approach. The method applied the ABCD framework through the stages of discovery, design, delivery/action, and reflection and sustainability, involving local ustadz, DKM administrators, and santri as key participants. The results indicate that mapping and utilizing local assets successfully established a more structured, participatory, and sustainable tajwid learning system. The integration of Matan Tuhfatul Athfal with peer learning increased active participation, self-confidence, and accuracy of Qur’anic recitation among santri. Furthermore, the program strengthened the institutional capacity of the DKM and fostered a strong sense of community ownership of the learning process. This study concludes that integrating classical matan-based learning with a community empowerment approach is an effective strategy for sustainably improving the quality of Qur’anic recitation in rural DKM settings.

This study aims to analyze the inventory management practices of qurban cattle at Purnomo Sapi Mulyo Farm in Boyolali, Central Java, particularly in facing the surge in demand prior to Eid al-Adha. The research is motivated by the unique characteristics of qurban cattle inventory, which involves living assets, seasonal demand, and biological risks that differ significantly from conventional inventory management. A qualitative descriptive approach with a case study design was employed to capture in-depth information regarding inventory planning, procurement, storage, and sales practices. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with the business owner as the key informant, direct observation of operational activities, and documentation review. The findings reveal that inventory management at the farm is conducted in a responsive manner based on consumer orders, enabling the business to minimize overstock risks and operational costs. However, inventory recording remains manual and unstructured, potentially limiting the accuracy of cost calculation and long-term planning. Price fluctuations and supply availability are strongly influenced by the Eid al-Adha momentum, while cattle health and lead time are critical factors affecting inventory effectiveness. From a theoretical perspective, the study extends inventory management concepts to the context of live and seasonal inventory. Practically, the findings suggest that implementing a simple yet structured inventory recording system could enhance operational efficiency and decision-making accuracy in local qurban cattle farms.

Corporate financial performance is an important factor in maintaining business sustainability amid increasingly intense competition. One of the commonly used indicators of financial performance is Return on Assets (ROA), which reflects a company’s ability to generate profits through the efficient use of its assets. Corporate profitability is influenced by various internal factors, including capital structure and liquidity. This study aims to analyze the effect of Debt to Equity Ratio (DER) and Current Ratio (CR) on Return on Assets (ROA). This research employs a quantitative approach using secondary data obtained from corporate financial statements. The research sample consists of 36 observations selected through purposive sampling. Data analysis techniques include descriptive statistical analysis and multiple linear regression analysis using SPSS software. The results show that, partially, the Debt to Equity Ratio does not have a significant effect on Return on Assets, while the Current Ratio has a positive and significant effect on Return on Assets. Simultaneously, Debt to Equity Ratio and Current Ratio have a significant effect on Return on Assets, with Current Ratio being the most dominant variable. The findings indicate that effective liquidity management plays a crucial role in improving corporate profitability. The implications of this study are expected to provide useful insights for corporate management in making financial decisions, particularly related to liquidity management and capital structure.

This study investigates the determinants of capital structure within the healthcare industry, focusing on the influence of asset structure, profitability, and company size. Given the capital-intensive nature of healthcare—characterized by significant investments in medical technology and infrastructure—understanding how these firms balance debt and equity is critical for financial sustainability and operational growth. Using a quantitative approach, this research analyzes a panel dataset of healthcare companies listed on the Indonesian Capital Market from 2018 to 2023. Furthermore, the capital structure is quantified by the debt-to-equity ratio. Meanwhile, asset structure, profitability, and company size are measured by the ratio of fixed assets to total assets, return on assets, and the natural logarithm of total assets, respectively. Moreover, the data are analyzed using multiple linear regression, supported by the classical assumption testing. As a result, asset structure has a significant positive impact on capital structure, aligning with the static trade-off theory. Conversely, profitability demonstrates a significant negative relationship with capital structure, supporting the pecking order theory. Finally, company size positively affects capital structure, indicating that larger firms have greater access to debt financing. These findings suggest that healthcare managers should optimize their asset utilization and internal reserves to maintain an efficient capital structure that supports long-term healthcare delivery and investor confidence.

This study aims to examine and analyze the effect of capital structure and fixed asset turnover on return on assets (ROA) at PT Argo Pantes Tbk during the period 2013–2022. The research employs a quantitative method with a statistical analysis approach, using secondary data obtained from the company’s financial statements. The data analysis techniques include classical assumption tests, namely normality, multicollinearity, heteroscedasticity, and autocorrelation tests, followed by multiple linear regression analysis. Hypothesis testing is conducted through the coefficient of determination, partial statistical testing (t-test), and simultaneous statistical testing (F-test). The results indicate that capital structure has a significant effect on return on assets. This is evidenced by a t-value of 2.986, which is greater than the t-table value of 2.36462, and a significance level of 0.020, which is lower than 0.05. These findings suggest that an optimal capital structure plays an important role in improving the company’s profitability performance. Therefore, capital structure management should be considered a strategic factor by management in enhancing financial efficiency and overall corporate performance.

Kajian Ekonomi dan Akuntansi Terapan 2025 Asosiasi Riset Ekonomi dan Akuntansi Indonesia

This study aims to analyze the impact of business combinations through acquisition on the financial performance of PT Sarana Menara Nusantara Tbk. The research employs a descriptive quantitative approach, focusing on the acquiring firm in the Indonesian telecommunications infrastructure sector. The data used are secondary data obtained from the company’s annual financial statements for the period 2019–2023, sourced from the Indonesia Stock Exchange and the company’s official website. Financial performance is analyzed using Return on Assets (ROA), Return on Equity (ROE), Net Profit Margin (NPM), and Debt to Equity Ratio (DER) by comparing the periods before, during, and after the acquisition conducted in 2021. The results indicate that the acquisition exerted short-term pressure on asset efficiency and profitability, as reflected by the decline in ROA and NPM in the year of acquisition. However, in the post-acquisition period, the company demonstrated an improvement in operational performance, particularly in Net Profit Margin, suggesting that the economic benefits of the business combination gradually materialized. Meanwhile, fluctuations in ROE and DER reflect adjustments in the capital structure following the acquisition. These findings suggest that the success of an acquisition cannot be evaluated solely based on short-term financial performance but requires continuous assessment to capture its medium- and long-term effects. This study provides practical implications for management in formulating post-acquisition integration strategies and contributes empirically to the accounting and finance literature on business combinations in Indonesia.

This study examines the influence of foreign ownership, return on assets (ROA), and firm size on environmental, social, and governance (ESG) disclosure among energy sector companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) during 2022–2024. The sample was selected through purposive sampling, including firms that consistently published annual and sustainability reports in accordance with the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) standards. ESG disclosure was measured as the proportion of disclosed GRI indicators to the total applicable indicators. Multiple linear regression analysis shows that foreign ownership and firm size significantly enhance ESG disclosure, while ROA has no significant effect. These results support legitimacy theory, suggesting that companies increase ESG transparency primarily to secure societal acceptance and maintain their social license to operate. In the energy sector, where environmental sensitivity and public scrutiny are high, ownership structure and firm scale emerge as stronger determinants of ESG disclosure than short-term profitability.

This study was conducted to analyze the implementation of financial management and accounting practices at a Coffee Shop in South Jakarta operating within the MSME sector, with a focus on the importance of structured financial management and the application of standardized accounting as a fundamental element in supporting business sustainability. The research employed a qualitative descriptive method through interviews, direct observations, and document review. The findings indicate that the Coffee Shop has applied a cash-based recording system and utilizes a simple point of sales (POS) application to monitor cash flow and sales transactions. However, the recording of fixed assets, depreciation calculations, and the recognition of liabilities have not fully complied with the guidelines of FAS MSMEs, resulting in financial information that remains limited, lacks transparency, and does not provide a comprehensive overview of the business’s financial condition. Therefore, this study highlights the need to improve human resource capabilities in accounting and to implement simple yet credible accounting software to support more accurate, efficient, and accountable financial reporting. With more professional financial management, business owners will be better equipped to make strategic decisions, strengthen stakeholder trust, and enhance the competitiveness and long-term sustainability of the Coffee Shop.

Kajian Ekonomi dan Akuntansi Terapan 2025 Asosiasi Riset Ekonomi dan Akuntansi Indonesia

This study investigates the impact of board characteristics on the financial performance of non-financial companies listed in the JII70 index in Indonesia. Motivated by the ongoing debate on the effectiveness of corporate governance mechanisms in enhancing firm outcomes, particularly within Sharia-compliant markets, this study focuses on three key board attributes: board size, board independence, and female representation on the board. Using a quantitative causal approach and panel data from 25 companies over the period 2020–2023, the study employs a fixed effect model to evaluate the relationship between board structure and financial performance measured by Return on Assets (ROA). The results show that board size has a positive and significant effect on firm performance, indicating that larger boards may enhance oversight capacity and provide broader resources beneficial to strategic decision-making. Conversely, board independence and board female representation do not exhibit significant effects on financial performance, suggesting that their roles may be more symbolic or constrained by institutional and contextual factors in the sampled companies. These findings highlight the importance of understanding corporate governance not merely in structural terms, but in relation to functional effectiveness and contextual maturity. The study offers implications for regulators, companies, and governance reform initiatives, particularly regarding strengthening substantive roles of independent and female commissioners in improving firm performance within Sharia-compliant markets.

This study examines how a Maqasid al-Shariah framework can provide a holistic and ethically grounded foundation for regulating fintech and digital assets across Muslim jurisdictions. Drawing upon classical Islamic legal sources and contemporary fintech literature, the research employs a qualitative library-based methodology to analyze how principles such as ḥifẓ al-māl (protection of wealth), maslahah (public welfare), and harm prevention can guide effective oversight of emerging technologies. Findings indicate that rapid digital financial innovation—particularly involving AI-driven platforms, blockchain systems, P2P lending, crypto-assets, and digital banking—poses significant regulatory challenges related to Shariah compliance, cybersecurity, financial stability, and consumer protection. Muslim jurisdictions face fragmented regulatory structures, inconsistent Shariah interpretations, and limited digital literacy, which hinder the development of cohesive governance frameworks. Integrating Maqasid al-Shariah provides an ethical compass to balance innovation with justice, transparency, accountability, and socio-economic welfare. The study highlights the need for harmonized cross-border standards, robust Shariah governance systems, AI ethics protocols, and regulatory sandboxes tailored to Islamic fintech. Ultimately, the Maqasid framework offers a dynamic and future-ready model for guiding digital finance ecosystems towards ethical resilience, social justice, and sustainable development.

Journal of Islamic Law and Legal Studies 2025 Mabadi Iqtishad Al Islami

This study critically reassesses Islamic economic law within the rapidly expanding digital economy, emphasizing the necessity of a globally coherent Sharia-compliant regulatory architecture. Using a qualitative library research method, the paper draws from classical jurisprudence, contemporary fintech literature, and international Sharia standards to examine the tensions emerging from technological innovations such as artificial intelligence, blockchain, digital assets, and Islamic fintech platforms. Findings reveal significant regulatory fragmentation across Muslim jurisdictions, inconsistencies in Sharia interpretation, and gaps in digital literacy, which collectively hinder harmonized governance. Moreover, emerging digital financial instruments raise pressing ethical concerns related to transparency, algorithmic bias, cybersecurity, and compliance with prohibitions against riba, gharar, and maysir. The study argues that Maqasid al-Shariah—particularly the principles of ḥifẓ al-māl, maslahah, and harm prevention—provides a holistic framework for balancing innovation with ethical integrity. It also identifies the urgent need for cross-border regulatory harmonization, AI ethics protocols, enhanced Sharia governance structures, and tailored regulatory sandboxes for Islamic fintech. Ultimately, the research offers a conceptual foundation for constructing a future-ready, inclusive, and ethically resilient global Islamic digital finance system.

Journal of Islamic Law and Legal Studies 2025 Mabadi Iqtishad Al Islami

This study critically reassesses Islamic economic law in response to the accelerating digital transformation reshaping global financial ecosystems. Drawing on classical jurisprudential sources, international Sharia standards, and contemporary literature on Islamic fintech, the research employs a qualitative library-based methodology to evaluate how digital innovations—particularly AI, blockchain, digital assets, and Islamic fintech platforms—challenge existing regulatory structures across Muslim jurisdictions. The findings reveal substantial fragmentation in Sharia governance, inconsistencies in regulatory interpretation, and limited technical capacity, which collectively hinder the development of a cohesive global framework. The study argues that the integration of Maqasid al-Shariah offers a robust ethical and legal foundation for constructing a global Sharia-compliant regulatory architecture capable of addressing cybersecurity risks, algorithmic bias, consumer protection gaps, cross-border inconsistencies, and the complexities of emerging technologies. The analysis highlights the need for harmonized standards, AI ethics protocols, enhanced RegTech adoption, and dynamic regulatory sandboxes to balance innovation with Sharia compliance. Ultimately, the research proposes a forward-looking model that embeds Islamic ethical principles within contemporary digital governance, ensuring that Islamic finance remains resilient, transparent, and socially responsible in the digital age.

This study aims to analyze the effect of asset growth, capital structure, and asset structure on the profitability of PT Astra Graphia Tbk during the period 2016–2023. The research employs a quantitative approach with a causal research design using secondary data derived from the company’s quarterly financial statements. A total of 32 quarterly observations were selected through purposive sampling. Profitability is measured using Return on Equity (ROE), while data analysis is conducted using multiple linear regression. Prior to hypothesis testing, classical assumption tests including normality, multicollinearity, heteroskedasticity, and autocorrelation tests were performed to ensure the robustness of the regression model. The results indicate that asset growth, capital structure, and asset structure simultaneously have a significant effect on firm profitability. However, partially, only asset structure has a significant effect on profitability, while asset growth and capital structure show no significant influence. These findings suggest that efficient asset composition plays a more critical role in improving profitability than mere asset expansion or increased leverage. The managerial implication of this study highlights the importance of optimizing asset structure to enhance the firm’s ability to generate sustainable profits.

This study examines how changes in company value are affected by profitability, liquidity, and asset structure using a case study of PT Bank Central Asia Tbk from 2017 to 2024. The Fixed Asset Ratio (FAR), which serves as a proxy for asset structure, the Return on Assets (ROA), which measures profitability, and the Current Ratio (CR), which measures liquidity, are the independent variables in the Price to Book Value (PBV) ratio. The study data came from BCA's public annual financial reports, and SPSS software was used to do multiple linear regression analysis. The findings demonstrate that changes in firm valuation are significantly positively impacted by profitability, suggesting that improved profit performance fosters favorable investor attitudes. On the other hand, throughout the observation period, changes in the company's value are not significantly impacted by liquidity or asset structure. This result is consistent with some earlier research, although it varies in the area of liquidity's impact, indicating a lack of consistency among investigations. Practically speaking, banking management may utilize the study's findings to develop financial plans that emphasize boosting profitability in order to optimize business value. Academically, this study adds to the body of knowledge on the elements that influence corporate value, particularly in the Indonesian banking sector, and addresses the present research gap on the impact of liquidity and asset structure.

Kajian Ekonomi dan Akuntansi Terapan 2025 Asosiasi Riset Ekonomi dan Akuntansi Indonesia

This study aims to see the effect of Debt to Equity Ratio (DER) and Return on Assets (ROA) on Stock Price in PT. Wilmar Cahaya Indonesia, Tbk which is listed on the IDX during the period 2015–2022. The data used in this study is in the form of the company's annual financial statements obtained through secondary sources. This study uses a quantitative approach with multiple linear regression analysis methods, while data processing is carried out using the SPSS application. The results of the study show that partially the Debt to Equity Ratio (DER) variable has a negative effect on the Share Price, while the Return on Assets (ROA) does not have a positive effect on the company's Share Price. However, the results of the simultaneous test show that DER and ROA together have a positive and significant influence on the Stock Price. These findings provide an idea that the combination of capital structure and profitability remains an important indicator in assessing the performance of a company's shares even though their partial relationships show different tendencies. In addition, this research can be a reference for investors in considering the company's fundamental condition before making investment decisions, as well as provide additional insights for management in managing the capital structure more optimally.

This study aims to examine the influence of capital structure and liquidity on the profitability of manufacturing companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) during the 2019–2023 period. Capital structure is represented by the Debt to Equity Ratio (DER), while liquidity is measured using the Current Ratio (CR). Profitability is assessed through Return on Assets (ROA) and Return on Equity (ROE). This research employs a quantitative approach with a causality design and uses multiple linear regression as the analytical method. The sample consists of three manufacturing companies—PT Chandra Asri Pacific Tbk (TPIA), PT Aneka Tambang Tbk (ANTM), and PT Gudang Garam Tbk (GGRM)—selected through purposive sampling based on predetermined criteria. Prior to hypothesis testing, classical assumption tests including normality, multicollinearity, heteroscedasticity, and autocorrelation were conducted, and all variables met the requirements for regression analysis. The findings reveal that DER has a negative and significant effect on both ROA and ROE, indicating that higher leverage reduces the company’s ability to generate profits. Conversely, CR has a positive and significant effect on profitability, suggesting that companies with stronger liquidity positions are more capable of sustaining operational activities and improving financial performance. The F-test results show that DER and CR simultaneously have a significant influence on profitability. Furthermore, the coefficient of determination demonstrates that more than half of the variation in profitability can be explained by the two independent variables. Overall, the study emphasizes the importance of maintaining an optimal balance between debt utilization and liquidity management. Effective capital structure policies and sufficient liquidity levels are essential for enhancing profitability and ensuring financial stability within the manufacturing industry. These findings provide valuable implications for corporate decision-makers, investors, and stakeholders in formulating financial strategies that support long-term performan.

Akuntansi Pajak dan Kebijakan Ekonomi Digital 2025 Asosiasi Riset Ekonomi dan Akuntansi Indonesia

This study focuses on the role of auditing in improving the credibility and reliability of financial statements, particularly through the examination of cash and cash equivalents, which are the most liquid assets and also the most vulnerable to errors and fraud. The purpose of this study is to improve the understanding of financial statement users, including investors, financial analysts, consultants, academics and accounting practitioners, as well as accounting students, about the function of cash and cash equivalents audit reports in improving business quality. This study found that comprehensive and independent cash and cash equivalent audits can increase user confidence in the transparency, accountability, and reputation of companies. This study conducted semi-structured interviews with eight informants in Jakarta, Bogor, and Depok. The results show that three main factors influence financial statement users' perceptions of audit quality: auditor credibility, audit process independence, and the audit's ability to demonstrate good corporate governance. According to the results of this study, cash audits are very important as a measure of management integrity and a tool for assessing company quality. The study is also expected to help auditors and management improve audit practices that are clearer, more independent, and focused on the needs of financial statement users.
