The family plays a central role in shaping children’s growth and well-being, particularly in marginalized communities where access to education and healthcare is limited. This study aims to describe the forms of family support in improving the well-being of children at Sanggar Anak Sungai Deli, a non-formal educational institution located along the banks of the Deli River in Medan City. Using a qualitative descriptive approach, the research involved observations, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The informants included families of children, sanggar administrators, and children actively participating in the program. The findings reveal that family support is manifested in six main indicators: (1) positive emotional relationships, (2) provision of safety and comfort, (3) instilling positive values, (4) support for education and talent development, (5) protection from negative influences, and (6) partial fulfillment of basic needs. These supports contribute significantly to children’s emotional, social, and intellectual well-being, although the physical aspect remains less fulfilled due to economic constraints. Despite limited financial resources, families demonstrate care and commitment to supporting their children’s development. Sanggar Anak Sungai Deli serves as an essential partner by providing a safe and supportive learning environment. This study concludes that family involvement, combined with community-based interventions such as SASUDE, is crucial in ensuring holistic child well-being. The implications highlight the importance of strengthening collaboration between families, community organizations, and government to address gaps in child welfare programs in marginalized areas.

Hospitalization in preschool children often causes anxiety, which can disrupt the recovery process. If this anxiety is not addressed, it can worsen the child's condition, lengthen hospital stays, and cause negative psychological effects. Therefore, an effective intervention is needed to help children manage their anxiety. This study aims to examine the effect of puzzle play therapy on the anxiety levels of preschool children hospitalized at Meuraxa Hospital, Banda Aceh. The research used a one group pre-test post-test design with 15 selected samples based on specific criteria. The instrument used was an observation sheet filled out three times to assess the children's anxiety before and after the intervention. The data were analyzed using a Paired T-test to compare anxiety levels before and after the therapy. The results showed a significant reduction in anxiety after the children participated in puzzle play therapy, with a p-value = 0.000 (p < 0.05). In conclusion, puzzle play therapy can effectively reduce anxiety in preschool children during hospitalization and can be implemented as a routine nursing intervention with support from healthcare professionals and families.

This study examines how interactive storybooks can help children aged 7 to 9 years learn about the dangers of excessive sugar consumption in packaged drinks. The book is designed with interactive techniques such as pop-up, pull-the-tab, and lift-the-flap to enhance the effectiveness of learning for children. Each mechanical method is aimed at capturing the children’s attention and delivering an educational message in an engaging and easy-to-understand way. The results show that the pull-the-tab technique was the most commonly used because of its ease of use and effectiveness in illustrating gradual changes. This technique allows children to visually see how excessive sugar consumption affects the body through changes that occur when they pull the tab on the book. Additionally, the use of pop-up and lift-the-flap methods provides a visually and physically engaging experience, which makes children more involved in the learning process. Based on the findings, interactive storybooks have proven to be a highly effective learning tool for educating children about important health issues. Therefore, book developers are encouraged to continue innovating by incorporating various interactive methods, such as adapting the books into digital formats. By doing so, a broader and more effective educational impact can be achieved, allowing children to learn in a fun, interactive, and easily accessible way.

Fine motor skills are the abilities to control small muscles for successful skill performance.  Developing fine motor skills in children is crucial to prepare them for writing upon entering formal education (elementary school). This research aimed to analyze the influence of beading body part pictures on the fine motor skill development of 5-6-year-old children at RA Mawar Ar-Rahman. This study employed a pre-experimental design with a one-group pre-test post-test approach. The population consisted of 38 respondents, with all 38 included in the study using total sampling. The intervention was implemented over four sessions, three days apart, using the Denver Developmental Screening Test II (DDST II), observation sheets, Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), and beading modules as instruments. Data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon test. The results showed that before the beading activity, almost half of the respondents (17 respondents, 44.7%) showed developing fine motor skills. After the beading activity, a significantly larger number of respondents (23 respondents, 60.5%) showed very good development. This indicates a significant influence of beading body part pictures on the fine motor skill development of 56-year-old children at RA Mawar Ar-Rahman (p-value 0.001 < α = 0.05). Playing stringing games can develop fine motor skills and optimize children’s development. It looks enjoyable for the children, increases their knowledge, and also encourages them to communicate with one another.

This study was motivated by the high number of stunted children found in stunting locations, namely in Kelurahan Kahean and Sigulang-gulang, Kecamatan Siantar Utara, Kota Pematangsiantar. This study also found indications of inadequate parenting patterns in terms of nutrition and child health care. This condition is a serious concern because stunting not only affects children's physical growth but also influences their cognitive development and future quality of life. To understand this phenomenon in depth, this study used a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observations, literature studies, and documentation, involving six main informants. The results of the study revealed that 4 of the 6 parents with stunted children practiced inadequate parenting, particularly neglectful parenting, which was the most dominant parenting style. This neglectful parenting style was characterized by a lack of adequate supervision and attention to providing nutritious food and health care for children. Parents who apply this parenting style tend to consistently ignore their children's nutritional and health needs, thereby increasing the risk of stunting. In addition, some parents also apply a permissive parenting style, which is characterized by allowing children to freely choose food without clear boundaries or rules. As a result, children often consume unhealthy foods and have irregular eating schedules. In addition to parenting factors, limited socioeconomic conditions also exacerbate the risk of stunting. Parents' low level of knowledge about balanced nutrition and child health care further increases the likelihood of children experiencing stunting. This shows that economic and educational factors are major obstacles in efforts to prevent stunting in the Kecamatan Siantar Utara.

This study aims to identify words that contain lexical ambiguity, explore their meanings, and classify them in the children’s book Amelia Bedelia by Herman Parish. The data were collected from the Amelia Bedelia Chapter Books series, which consists of twelve books published between 2013 and 2018. The analysis identified a total of 58 words with lexical ambiguity, including 46 instances of polysemy and 12 of homonymy. The classification of polysemy and homonymy is based on the semantic relatedness or unrelatedness between the multiple meanings of each word. The Amelia Bedelia stories effectively illustrate how children perceive and react to lexical ambiguity through the main character, Amelia, who is known for her literal interpretations of figurative language. This literal understanding often leads to humorous situations. Lexical ambiguity in these books functions not only as a source of entertainment but also as a valuable linguistic learning tool. Therefore, the stories contribute to language development in early childhood readers.

Marriages between Indonesian citizens and foreign nationals present complex legal challenges, particularly regarding the citizenship status of children born within such unions. This research explores the legal tension between Indonesia’s Marriage Law No. 1 of 1974 and Citizenship Law No. 12 of 2006, which adopt different approaches to the inheritance of nationality and the safeguarding of children’s rights. Employing a normative juridical method, the study examines statutory regulations, judicial rulings, and scholarly legal works, supported by a comparative analysis of practices in other jurisdictions. The results demonstrate that although the 2006 Citizenship Law introduced the notion of limited dual citizenship for minors, the family unity principle maintained in the Marriage Law creates procedural ambiguities especially in matters of registration and the age threshold for citizenship determination. Such inconsistencies often give rise to administrative barriers that may place children at risk of statelessness. The study argues that aligning the two legal frameworks is imperative to achieve legal certainty and uphold the best interests of the child, consistent with international conventions ratified by Indonesia. It further suggests amending overlapping provisions and improving administrative mechanisms to ensure more coherent and effective citizenship protection for children of mixed marriages.

This study aims to examine the implementation of Article 88 of Law Number 35 of 2014 concerning Child Protection against child exploitation as clown buskers in Gorontalo City, as well as identify the factors that cause the exploitation. This study uses an empirical legal method with a descriptive approach to obtain data related to behavior, social conditions, and symptoms in society. Data was collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The results of the study show that the implementation of Law Number 35 of 2014 has not been optimal, because the relevant apparatus, such as the Social Service and Satpol PP, have not followed up on this case with a criminal law approach, but only with coaching and administrative efforts. This causes child exploitation to continue without strict legal sanctions. The factors that cause the exploitation of children as buskers in clown costumes in Gorontalo City include economic, family, environmental factors, lack of law enforcement, and low legal awareness in interrelated communities. This research emphasizes the importance of synergy between the government, law enforcement officials, social institutions, and the community to reduce child exploitation practices through preventive, repressive, and rehabilitative efforts in a sustainable manner.

Biomass is one of the materials that can be utilized as fuel. To ensure optimal quality, effective management of biomass is required to maximize its potential. One possible approach is the application of a biomass stove fueled by rubber wood pellets. By integrating a thermoelectric generator, data can be obtained to determine whether all aspects meet the established standards. This system is designed to generate electrical energy from combustion heat, supported by components such as a buck-boost converter and a 3V DC lamp. Testing was carried out using proximate and ultimate analyses on the fuel as well as the Water Boiling Test (WBT) on the stove, referring to SNI 8021:2020 and SNI 8021:2014 standards. The results showed that rubber wood pellets contained 7.64% moisture and had a calorific value of 4050 kcal/kg. The stove demonstrated an efficiency of 23.53%–37.28% and a fuel consumption rate of 0.61–0.77 kg/hour, both of which meet the requirements. In addition, the thermoelectric generator produced a voltage of 3.6 V and an electric current of 0.05 A, which are higher than those reported in previous studies (2.06 V and 0.01 A, respectively). Therefore, this thermoelectric biomass stove system is considered successful and feasible for further development as an alternative energy application.
