This study, entitled "Dynamics in Village Leadership (A Study of Village Apparatus Recruitment in Weseben Village, Malaka Regency)," aims to analyze the leadership style of village heads in the apparatus recruitment process, uncover the growing practices of patronage and clientelism, and examine their implications for the implementation of good governance principles at the village level. Theoretically, this research is based on village leadership theory, patronage-clientelism theory, and the concept of good governance, which emphasizes the values of transparency, accountability, and public participation in village governance. The method used was a qualitative approach with a case study design. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with village heads, village officials, traditional leaders, members of the Village Consultative Body (BPD), and the community, and was supported by field observations and documentation studies. The results indicate that: (1) the leadership style of village heads in Weseben is dominant and personalistic, with the village head retaining full control over the apparatus recruitment process, (2) apparatus recruitment places greater emphasis on loyalty and personal closeness than on professional competence, (3) The practice of patronage and clientelism is strongly evident in the relationship between the village head as patron and village officials as clients, which is built through kinship ties and reciprocal interests, (4) decisions regarding the appointment of officials are often tinged with elements of nepotism and collusion to strengthen the village head's political support base, and (5) the recruitment system is not yet oriented towards the principle of a merit system, namely a selection system based on individual ability, achievement, and integrity, as implemented in professional governance. Thus, it can be concluded that the dynamics of village leadership in Weseben are still strongly influenced by the practice of patronage and clientelism, which hinders the realization of democratic, transparent, and accountable village governance.

Our country is known as a nation that upholds human rights values. This is manifested in the recognition of the right to express opinions, which is specifically regulated in Law Number 9 of 1998 concerning Freedom of Expression in Public. Along with the increasing dynamics of political contestation and polarization in society, the frequency of demonstrations has also escalated. This condition places the professionalism and neutrality of the police force under increasing public scrutiny. The reduction in citizens' freedom to express their aspirations often creates a negative image of the police, particularly due to repressive actions and the use of discretion that is deemed disproportionate. Based on a normative juridical approach, this study aims to analyze the extent to which the state upholds access and protection of freedom of expression in public, as well as examine the application of human rights principles from both national and international legal perspectives in demonstrations

This study discusses the phenomenon of language interference on the Instagram account of public figure Cinta Laura Kiehl. Language interference is a language phenomenon characterized by the entry of elements from one language into another language commonly used by bilingual or multilingual speakers. In this context, the interference of Indonesian and English on Cinta Laura's Instagram account is interesting to study because of its consistent and striking use in various uploads and digital interactions. This study uses a qualitative descriptive approach with a content analysis method on data in the form of image captions uploaded by Cinta Laura at a certain time. The results of the study show that the interference that appears can be classified into several linguistic levels, namely lexical, morphological, syntactic, and semantic levels. Lexical interference appears in the use of English vocabulary in Indonesian sentences. Meanwhile, morphological interference is seen from the structure of mixed word formation that does not comply with the rules in Indonesian. Syntactic interference appears in the form of sentence structures that follow the structure of English. Factors that cause interference include the speaker's bilingual background, the habit of using foreign languages in everyday life, the influence of an international social environment, and expressive and modern communication styles on social media. This study shows that interference in the context of social media is not merely a form of language deviation, but can also be seen as part of the construction of self-identity and digital communication strategies. These findings are expected to contribute to contemporary sociolinguistic studies and enrich understanding of the dynamics of language use in digital public spaces.

Islamic boarding schools (pesantren) are religious institutions focused on education, the dissemination of Islamic knowledge, and the propagation of Islamic propagation, as well as serving as centers for the development of religious thinkers. Furthermore, pesantren also serve as platforms for human resource development and empowerment for alumni, families, and the wider community. This research aims to collect data to uncover fundamental issues arising from phenomena, realities, and experiences, thereby providing a diverse range of knowledge regarding the life and practice of pesantren-based economic empowerment. Economic empowerment is understood as both a process and a goal. As a process, economic empowerment encompasses a series of efforts to improve the economic capabilities and strengths of vulnerable communities to improve their quality of life. As a goal, economic empowerment represents the desired condition or outcome and serves as a measure of the success of the process. To realize an empowered people's economy, three main elements are required: production potential, distribution potential, and consumption potential. These three elements constitute concrete and applicable steps for effectively implementing community economic empowerment. By considering these three potentials, empowerment can be implemented in a focused and sustainable manner. Pesantren, in their historical and cultural dynamics, play a vital role in the life of the nation. Therefore, Islamic boarding schools have the capacity, both in quality and quantity, to contribute and play a significant role in efforts to empower the community's economy.

This study aims to analyze the semantic shift in language within digital culture through the perspectives of linguistics and the philosophy of language. The focus of the study is directed toward the phenomenon of memes, emojis, abbreviations, and popular expressions that have rapidly developed on social media platforms and often deviate from their standard meanings. The research employs a descriptive qualitative method using content analysis combined with a philosophical literature review. Data were obtained from various digital platforms such as Instagram, TikTok, and Twitter/X, as well as relevant academic sources. The results indicate that semantic shifts in digital language occur through patterns of meaning expansion, metaphorization, polysemy, and linguistic innovation. From the standpoint of the philosophy of language, these findings align with Wittgenstein's meaning is use theory and Austin's speech act theory, both of which emphasize that meaning is determined by the practical use of language and speech acts within social contexts. Thus, the changes in meaning in digital culture are not merely linguistic but also reflect the social, cultural, and technological dynamics that shape modern communication patterns.

This study aims to analyze the role of digitalization in driving social development in Indonesia through the perspective of development sociology. Digitalization has become a major force transforming social structures, values, and interaction patterns in societies worldwide. The results show that digital technology contributes significantly to increased social participation, economic empowerment, and equitable access to information. However, on the other hand, challenges arise in the form of a digital divide between urban and rural communities that can deepen social inequality. In the context of development sociology, digitalization is not only viewed as a technological process, but also as a social phenomenon that influences the dynamics of community life. Therefore, digital-based development must be directed inclusively so that all levels of society receive equal benefits. The government, educational institutions, and the community need to synergize in strengthening digital literacy and maintaining socio-cultural values amidst the current of technological globalization. With a fair and participatory approach, digitalization can be an important means of strengthening social solidarity and realizing shared prosperity.

The Interpersonal and Communication Skills course plays an important role in equipping elementary teacher education (PGSD) students with the ability to build positive relationships, understand others’ feelings, and communicate information effectively. These skills are believed to influence success in the Guidance and Counseling course, which requires students to understand socio-emotional dynamics and analyze problems based on theory. This study aims to determine the relationship between the final grades of the Interpersonal and Communication Skills course and the Guidance and Counseling course among PGSD students. This research employed a quantitative correlational approach. The sample consisted of 28 PGSD students from the University of Riau, class of 2023, group B, who had completed both courses in the fourth semester. Data were obtained from the final grades of both courses and analyzed using the Spearman Rank correlation test. The results showed a correlation coefficient of 0.146 with a Sig. (2-tailed) value of 0.458 (p > 0.05). These findings indicate that there is no significant relationship between the two variables. The results suggest that students’ academic achievement in the Guidance and Counseling course is more strongly influenced by theoretical mastery and analytical skills rather than differences in grades in the Interpersonal and Communication Skills course.

The rapid growth of open-source software (OSS) in machine learning (ML) has intensified the need for reliable, automated methods to assess project quality, particularly as OSS increasingly underpins critical applications in science, industry, and public infrastructure. This study evaluates the effectiveness of a diverse set of machine learning and deep learning (ML/DL) algorithms for classifying GitHub OSS ML projects as engineered or non-engineered using a SMOTE-enhanced and explainable modeling pipeline. The dataset used in this research includes both numerical and categorical attributes representing documentation, testing, architecture, community engagement, popularity, and repository activity. After handling missing values, standardizing numerical features, encoding categorical variables, and addressing the inherent class imbalance using the Synthetic Minority Oversampling Technique (SMOTE), seven different classifiers—K-Nearest Neighbors (KNN), Decision Tree (DT), Random Forest (RF), XGBoost (XGB), Logistic Regression (LR), Support Vector Machine (SVM), and a Deep Neural Network (DNN)—were trained and evaluated. Results show that LR (84%) and DNN (85%) outperform all other models, indicating that both linear and moderately deep non-linear architectures can effectively capture key quality indicators in OSS ML projects. Additional explainability analysis using SHAP reveals consistent feature importance across models, with documentation quality, unit testing practices, architectural clarity, and repository dynamics emerging as the strongest predictors. These findings demonstrate that automated, explainable ML/DL-based quality assessment is both feasible and effective, offering a practical pathway for improving OSS sustainability, guiding contributor decisions, and enhancing trust in ML-based systems that depend on open-source components.

Constitutionalism plays a fundamental role in limiting state power and ensuring that government authority operates within ethical, legal, and democratic boundaries. Indonesia and Thailand offer two contrasting examples of constitutional development in Southeast Asia. Following the 1998 Reform era, Indonesia successfully strengthened mechanisms of checks and balances through the establishment of the Constitutional Court, decentralization reforms, and the empowerment of independent oversight bodies. In contrast, Thailand has experienced repeated cycles of military intervention, where post-coup constitutions have served not as tools to restrict state power, but rather as instruments legitimizing centralized authority and military dominance. This article synthesizes existing scholarly literature and identifies critical research gaps related to constitutionalism studies in both countries. First, there remains a scarcity of long-term empirical and quantitative studies assessing the effectiveness of constitutional limitations on executive, legislative, and judicial power. Second, current research has insufficiently examined informal political practices, including patronage networks, oligarchic influence, and military entrenchment within state institutions. Third, comparative constitutional studies covering the 2014–2025 period remain limited, particularly in assessing post-authoritarian and post-coup constitutional dynamics. The findings of this review highlight the need for deeper interdisciplinary research, integrating political science, legal studies, and institutional analysis to better understand the evolving nature of constitutionalism in Southeast Asia.
