One of the basic skill methods to begin learning or mastering a foreign language, especially in Arabic is listening skills (istima'). So for teaching and learning foreign languages, especially Arabic, it is very important to have the ability to hear or listen (istima'). This istima' proficiency can help learners to easily understand a word that is heard well and clearly. The success of istima' learning is highly dependent on 3 stages, namely the planning stage (intention), the implementation stage, and finally the evaluation stage. Tools are very important to improve istima' skills such as media, both audio and audio-visual media. In this very modern era, habituation of istima' is very easy to do, because students do not need to visit Arab countries to be able to hear Arabic directly from local residents there, but students only need to open gadgets or other electronic devices such as laptops, computers, etc. to access audios or videos containing Arabic to help students in the process of habituation of istima'. If students have done istima' habituation regularly, then of course it will be easier for students to learn Arabic, because they have previously been accustomed to hearing it.

Differentiated learning videos are learning method videos for educators delivered to students. Pragmatics is the science of language that studies the relationship between language and its context, grammatically or encoded in the structure of language use. In this research, there are expressive speech acts, namely a type of speech act in which the utterance states something or things that the speaker intends to feel, and directive speech acts are speech acts that express the speaker's intentions, which can be realized in the form of pragmatic statements. This article was written using descriptive research, which ultimately attempts to describe the speech spoken by the object, which is in accordance with the actual picture. This research uses a qualitative approach, namely by applying a qualitative descriptive method using data collection techniques, namely listening and note-taking analysis, which then uses collection analysis and matching analysis. This research aims to collect data, explain the data clearly, and analyze the forms of directive and expressive speech acts contained in differentiated videos. Differentiated video is a medium that allows the delivery of messages or information more specifically according to the target audience. Directive speech act analysis involves identifying commands, requests, or instructions given in the video, while expressive speech act analysis focuses on the expression of feelings, opinions, or expressions of emotion in that context. The results of the analysis show variations in the use of directive and expressive speech acts depending on the purpose of communication and audience characteristics. These findings provide insight into how differentiated video is used to achieve diverse communicative goals, including educating, motivating, or influencing audience actions. Based on the results of the analysis of expressive and directive speech acts in differentiated videos, it can be concluded that there were 23 forms of speech acts found. These speech acts consist of 7 expressive speech acts and 16 directive speech acts. The benefits of this research can provide guidance for content creators and communicators in designing and conveying messages effectively in differentiated video contexts by considering various speech acts that are appropriate to the situation and communication objectives.

During this pandemic, most of people’s activities are carried out through digital media. Both learning and working processes are using the video-conference platform, a platform deemed effective to facilitate the needs of distance communication. One of the limitations of using video-conference lies in difficulty in understanding emotional conditions based on solely camera video. Hence, speakers generally do not know their interlocutors’ feelings related to the materials being presented. Grounded on this issue, we examined a facial expressions-based emotion recognition tool. Micro expression is one of the micro-languages of communication. Machine learning model developed in this study was Deep Learning with Convolutional Neural Network (CNN). The library that was used was Keras, this was used to recognize micro expression pattern. Additionally, OpenCV was also used for the general face recognition process. Both libraries were operated using Python programming language. The result of the micro expression test involving thirty participants detected three types of facial expression, namely joy, sadness, and anger expression. However, face recognition applied in the present study still needed some improvements, especially for anger and sadness expression. With regard to joy expression, 89% of the expression were recognized. Based on the recorded data, it is necessary to improve the recordings criteria to obtain a clearer expression.
