Crypto asset transactions in Indonesia have rapidly developed alongside financial technology advancements, yet they pose legal challenges concerning investor protection. Under Indonesian civil law, civil liability for investor losses may be based on Article 1243 and Article 1365 of the Civil Code, depending on whether the loss arises from a breach of contract or an unlawful act. Additionally, the Consumer Protection Act may serve as a legal basis in cases involving violations of consumer rights. However, the application of such liability encounters juridical obstacles, including the absence of specific regulations defining the legal status of crypto assets as legal objects, regulatory gaps regarding business actors’ obligations, and evidentiary difficulties due to the anonymous nature of digital transactions. In this context, regulatory reform is essential to establish legal certainty and effective investor protection. The regulation should include digital security standards, transparent risk disclosures, and dispute resolution mechanisms. Active roles of Bappebti and the Financial Services Authority (OJK) in oversight, as well as legal literacy for the public, are critical to creating a responsible and secure crypto asset trading ecosystem.

The military judiciary, as regulated by law, has the authority to handle military criminal cases and general criminal cases committed by military personnel or persons deemed equivalent to military personnel according to the law. However, its closed and hierarchical nature creates the potential for criminal practices within the military justice system, such as conflicts of interest that could lead to new legal violations in the form of collusion. Therefore, a study is needed to analyse how vulnerable the military justice system is to collusion and the urgency of transparency and reform of the military justice system in order to formulate concrete and sustainable legal reform measures. This research uses a legal-normative approach with qualitative methods. The results of this study show that the military justice system comprises three important elements or bodies, namely Ankum, the Military Prosecutor, and the Military Judge. However, all three are part of the military (TNI) and are therefore subject to military hierarchy, which has the potential to cause conflicts of interest that can lead to new legal violations such as collusion and weaken the objectivity of the legal process, exacerbated by corps solidarity. Collusion practices have many negative impacts, especially when involving the public as victims. Given that the Military Court Act (HAPMIL) has not undergone changes in its legislation, there is a need for transparency and reform of the military court system that aligns with current legal standards.

This study investigates category shifts in the Indonesian subtitle translation of The Lion King (2019) using a combination of qualitative and quantitative methods. Drawing on Catford’s Category Shift Theory (1965), the research identifies four types of shifts—structure, class, unit, and intra-system—within the film’s subtitles. The data, collected through documentation and note-taking techniques, were analyzed to determine the nature and frequency of each shift type. The findings show that structure shifts are the most dominant (54%), followed by unit shifts (21%), class shifts (18%), and intra-system shifts (7%). These shifts demonstrate the translator’s strategy in adapting the source language to suit the target language's syntactic and semantic norms. By focusing on the linguistic and functional aspects of subtitle translation, this research highlights the importance of translation shifts in maintaining clarity, naturalness, and audience engagement in cross-linguistic audiovisual media.

The utilization of geothermal energy as a renewable energy source is growing in an effort to reduce dependence on fossil energy and its negative impact on the environment. However, the exploitation of this natural resource still contains potential ecological risks if not managed wisely. This article examines the use of geothermal energy through the perspective of the environmental ethics of Meng Zi (Mencius), a classical Confucian philosopher, who emphasized harmony between humans and nature. Meng Zi's ethical approach highlights the importance of virtue, moderation and respect for the natural order in every human activity, including energy management. Through a philosophical-critical study, this article shows that the application of Meng Zi's environmental ethics can provide a moral foundation for sustainable and equitable geothermal exploration policies and practices. Thus, the synergy between modern technology and classical ethical wisdom is key to realizing ecological sustainability and harmony.

This paper explores the strategic integration of cybersecurity into enterprise risk management (ERM) frameworks to enhance digital resilience in modern organizations. Drawing on a qualitative library research method, the study synthesizes literature, models, and case analyses to identify best practices and governance structures that align technical cybersecurity measures with broader organizational goals. The research reveals that treating cybersecurity as an isolated IT function weakens risk visibility and incident response, while embedding it within ERM enables proactive identification, prioritization, and mitigation of cyber risks. The study highlights challenges such as the communication gap between IT teams and senior leadership, lack of standardized cyber-risk metrics, and siloed governance structures. It proposes cross-disciplinary collaboration, integrated risk frameworks (e.g., ISO 31000, NIST), and metrics-driven decision-making as essential components of effective cybersecurity governance. Although conceptual in nature, the findings emphasize the urgent need for cohesive, strategic, and metric-informed approaches to managing cyber threats. Future research should prioritize empirical validation, industry-specific adaptations, and development of standardized cyber-risk indicators to support evidence-based investment and board-level accountability in cybersecurity governance.

The problem of plastic waste has developed into an urgent global environmental crisis, due to the nature of plastic that is difficult to decompose and can persist in the environment for hundreds of years. This study explores pyrolysis as a promising oxygen-free thermal conversion technology to overcome plastic waste by converting it into valuable products such as oil, gas, and char. The main focus of the study is the use of zeolite catalysts in the pyrolysis of polyethylene plastic waste from household waste, with a total mass of 1.5 kg of plastic waste and 200 grams of zeolite catalyst. The catalyst used, natural zeolite from Klaten, Central Java, was heated at a temperature of ±200°C before being used in a pyrolysis reactor at an operating temperature of 450°C for ±4 hours. The results showed that the use of zeolite catalysts reduced the percentage of liquid and solid products, but increased the percentage of gas products. In addition, the use of catalysts tended to reduce the content of medium fractions (C11-C22) and paraffin fractions, while increasing the light fractions (C4-C11) and olefin fractions. These findings indicate the potential of pyrolysis as a sustainable solution to the plastic waste problem with positive impacts on the environment and economy.

Corruption, particularly in the form of the practice of selling and buying positions, has become a serious issue in the context of regional governance in Indonesia. It undermines the meritocratic system and erodes public trust in government institutions. The aim of this study is to identify the factors that contribute to the occurrence of position trading and to formulate effective prevention strategies to build a transparent and corruption-free bureaucratic system. The approach used in this research is a normative approach with legal document analysis and field research that is prescriptive and applied in nature. The findings of the study show that the high political costs in direct regional elections and the lack of transparency in the selection of positions are the main factors triggering the practice of position trading. Prevention can be achieved through strengthening the merit system, improving transparency, fostering a culture of integrity in the bureaucracy, and enhancing the protection system for whistleblowers. The implications of this research are the importance of a more effective preventive approach to corruption prevention and the need for tighter public oversight to ensure the consistent implementation of policies.

This study examines the status of Bitcoin and its underlying blockchain technology from the perspective of Islamic law. The research utilizes a qualitative library-based method, analyzing primary sources of Islamic jurisprudence alongside recent academic studies. It explores key Shariah principles such as mal mutaqawwam, maysir, gharar, and riba, in assessing Bitcoin's permissibility. The findings reveal that while Bitcoin's volatility, speculation, and lack of intrinsic value raise concerns under Islamic finance, the asset does not inherently involve interest (riba). Furthermore, the research distinguishes between the controversial nature of Bitcoin and the positive potential of blockchain technology, which aligns with the objectives of maqasid al-shariah, particularly in promoting transparency, financial inclusion, and ethical conduct. The study concludes that while Bitcoin may remain contentious, blockchain offers significant opportunities for Shariah-compliant financial innovation when supported by appropriate regulation and ethical oversight.

Journal of Islamic Law and Legal Studies 2025 Mabadi Iqtishad Al Islami

This study explores the enduring legacy of Islamic legal scholarship and its significant influence on both historical and contemporary legal systems, with a particular focus on the multifaceted nature of Sharia. The research addresses the issue of misunderstanding Islamic law as rigid and outdated by highlighting its historical adaptability and intellectual richness. The primary objective is to examine how Islamic jurisprudence, particularly through the principles of Maqasid al-Shariah, has shaped legal systems and continues to inform debates on justice, human rights, and legal pluralism. Utilizing a qualitative library research methodology, the study analyzes classical Islamic legal texts, juristic methodologies, and modern interpretations to trace the evolution of Sharia from its foundational sources—the Quran and Hadith—to its integration into systems like the Ottoman and Mughal legal frameworks. The findings reveal that Sharia is not merely a codified set of rules, but a comprehensive ethical system responsive to context through tools such as Ijtihad, Qiyas, and Istislah. Moreover, the influence of Islamic law extends beyond the Muslim world, contributing to discourses on legal pluralism and ethical governance globally. Ultimately, the study demonstrates the continued relevance of Islamic legal tradition in shaping contemporary legal and moral thought in Muslim-majority societies and beyond.

This study aims to compare two main theories in modern cosmology, namely the Big Bang Theory and the Steady State Theory, using a descriptive cosmographic approach. This study is motivated by the lack of deep understanding as well as the limited Indonesian literature discussing the fundamental differences between the two theories. By employing a qualitative method through literature review, this research examines the characteristics, advantages, and limitations of each theory based on the latest scientific evidence and cosmographic perspectives. The analysis results show that the Big Bang Theory has strong support from observational evidence, such as cosmic microwave background radiation (CMB), galaxy redshift, and the distribution of light elements, which reinforces the narrative of the expansion and evolution of the universe. In contrast, the Steady State Theory is considered less relevant due to the absence of observational evidence for the creation of new matter and its inability to explain structure and the dynamics of the universe that are currently observed.
