Maintaining health is important for every individual, because by maintaining health, it can prevent susceptibility to disease. One important effort to get used to is maintaining hand and mouth hygiene. Washing hands with soap is the process of removing dirt and dust from both hands using water and soap, which can prevent various diseases such as diarrhea and ARI. While brushing teeth is the process of cleaning teeth from food residue stuck in the teeth and oral cavity, the benefit of getting used to brushing teeth is to prevent tooth decay. The importance of awareness about personal hygiene must be instilled from an early age, starting from this, KKN University Karimun students, and then conducted socialization activities at State Elementary School 004 and State Elementary School 007, Belat District. This socialization activity used simple lecture methods, direct practice, educational games, and audio-visual media. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of the Nutritious Meal Program as a public service policy in enhancing the academic achievement of elementary school students in Wonopringgo District. The research adopts a descriptive qualitative approach, with data collected through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and documentation across 19 educational institutions participating in the program. Findings reveal that the program has a significant positive impact on students’ nutritional status, learning motivation, and overall academic performance. Improvements were observed in student concentration, attendance, and classroom participation, indicating a direct link between adequate nutrition and cognitive development. Despite these positive outcomes, several challenges were identified. Issues such as delayed meal distribution, inconsistency in the quality and variety of menus, and limited coordination among stakeholders hinder the program’s optimal implementation. Furthermore, the engagement of parents and community members, while beneficial, was found to be uneven across schools, highlighting the need for stronger collaboration mechanisms. The study identifies three key factors that determine the success of the program: the quality of services provided, the managerial capacity of schools to coordinate and monitor implementation, and active participation from both parents and school committees. To address existing barriers, the research recommends enhancing cross-sectoral collaboration among government agencies, improving managerial competence at the school level, and establishing participatory evaluation systems. These measures would ensure program sustainability, responsiveness to local needs, and greater accountability. Overall, the Nutritious Meal Program demonstrates the potential of inclusive and collaborative public service policies in fostering both student well-being and academic achievement. It reflects a practical example of how government-community partnerships can contribute to creating a healthy, equitable, and sustainable educational ecosystem.

Early character education plays a fundamental role in shaping a generation that is not only intelligent but also physically healthy, emotionally balanced, and morally responsible. The cultivation of these values from an early age is crucial to equip children with the resilience needed to face various social challenges in the future. This community service activity was designed to increase awareness among elementary school students regarding three critical issues: the dangers of drug abuse, the practices of bullying, and the detrimental impact of corruption. The program was conducted at SDN 1 Citeluk with the participation of approximately 80 students from grades IV to VI. The educational materials were delivered through an interactive approach combining lectures, group discussions, role-playing, and quizzes. This approach was selected to ensure that the learning process was enjoyable, engaging, and easily understood by children at the elementary school level. During the sessions, students were introduced to the basic concepts of drugs, their harmful effects on health and life, and the importance of avoiding them. Additionally, the program emphasized identifying the various forms of bullying—whether physical, verbal, or social—and encouraged students to develop empathy and mutual respect. Another important aspect addressed was corruption, where students were guided to recognize the value of honesty and integrity through relatable examples in daily life. The results of the activity revealed that students were able to clearly understand the dangers of drugs, recognize the different forms of bullying, and provide examples of honest and moral behavior. This indicates that early character education delivered through interactive and participatory methods can effectively enhance children’s comprehension of healthy and moral values. It is expected that similar programs can be carried out sustainably in elementary school settings as part of continuous character-building efforts to support the development of a responsible and ethical young generation

This research is based on the importance of relevant and contextual teaching materials that foster understanding and practice of religious values, particularly in the teaching of voluntary fasting at the elementary school level. In the context of Islamic religious education, voluntary fasting material not only aims to provide knowledge but also to shape students' religious character from an early age. The purpose of this study is to critically examine the suitability of the learning objectives, materials, and teaching methods in the teaching materials with the expected competency achievements in the curriculum. The research method used is descriptive qualitative with a document study approach, through content analysis of Islamic Religious Education and Character Education teaching materials for grade VI. Data were collected through documentation techniques and interviews with Islamic Religious Education teachers, then analyzed through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results show that the teaching materials generally contain voluntary fasting material in accordance with the applicable curriculum. However, there are still shortcomings in aspects of material depth, relevance to students' daily lives, and the diversity of learning methods used. The materials tend to be textual and do not fully encourage students' emotional involvement or spiritual practices. Furthermore, the emphasis on character building and internalization of religious values in students' lives is not optimal. The conclusions of this study indicate the need to develop more applicable, interactive, and contextual teaching materials to improve students' understanding, religious attitudes, and active involvement in consciously and consistently observing the sunnah fast. As a follow-up to these findings, collaboration between teachers, textbook authors, and curriculum developers is crucial to ensure that teaching materials are not only cognitively appropriate.

The low level of students’ understanding of Islamic practices and values in daily life remains a significant challenge in the teaching of Islamic Religious Education (IRE) at the elementary school level. The teaching of IRE on the topic “Hajj and Qurban” in Grade V at SDN Bangbayang, Cisolok District, plays a strategic role in shaping Islamic character and instilling noble moral values in students. This study aims to critically examine the learning objectives, teaching materials, instructional methods, evaluation system, references, and teaching resources used in the learning process. The research employed a qualitative approach with data collected through classroom observation, interviews with teachers and students, and an analysis of instructional documents. The findings reveal that, in general, the teaching of IRE in Grade V has been implemented in accordance with the objectives and curriculum standards. Teachers have designed teaching modules based on the basic competencies and learning goals outlined in the curriculum. However, several aspects still require further development. Among these are the limited relevance of the learning materials to students’ everyday experiences, the lack of integration of technology-based media, and an evaluation process that places greater emphasis on cognitive aspects while paying less attention to affective and psychomotor domains. This situation indicates that while the learning process is carried out in line with procedural standards, students’ comprehension of Islamic values in practical and contextual terms remains insufficient. Therefore, strengthening the understanding of Islamic teachings in real-life contexts is essential so that students not only acquire theoretical knowledge but are also able to internalize and practice Islamic values in their daily lives. The teaching module currently used is adequate, yet further development is needed to make learning more practical, contextual, and impactful in fostering a strong Islamic character among students.

This research was conducted with the main purpose of examining and analyzing the specific needs of elementary school teachers in designing and implementing a Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model that is grounded in the Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge (TPACK) framework, with the ultimate goal of enhancing students’ critical thinking skills as a crucial competency in the 21st century. The study is rooted in the understanding that critical thinking is not only a fundamental learning outcome but also a key skill for students to thrive in modern society, while at the same time recognizing the current limitations in technology integration within elementary-level PBL practices. A quantitative descriptive method was employed, involving a purposive sample of 100 elementary school teachers who provided data through structured questionnaires and interviews. The analysis focused on five core indicators, namely teachers’ initial knowledge of TPACK-based PBL, the availability of facilities to support its implementation, teachers’ participation in relevant professional training, the degree of TPACK integration in classroom learning, and the actual application of PBL in teaching practice. Findings revealed that only 36% of teachers possessed sufficient awareness of TPACK-based PBL, 40% reported having adequate facilities in their schools, 40% had previously joined related training, 36% had integrated TPACK into their instruction, and 50% had applied PBL in their classrooms. These results clearly demonstrate a significant gap between existing practices and the ideal conditions needed for maximizing the potential of TPACK-based PBL. Consequently, the study emphasizes the urgency of developing and strengthening this model by improving teacher knowledge, ensuring continuous professional development opportunities, and promoting the effective use of technology to foster innovative, contextual, and student-centered learning that can systematically nurture critical thinking abilities in elementary school students.

Breakfast is an important habit that plays a major role in meeting children's energy and nutritional needs. The energy obtained from breakfast is essential for daily activities, including learning and playing, enabling children to achieve optimal performance both physically and cognitively. Furthermore, breakfast habits also contribute to children's nutritional status, reflecting the balance between nutritional intake and needs. However, the reality shows that in Indonesia, approximately 40% of children still do not have breakfast before going to school, potentially affecting their nutritional status. This study aims to determine the relationship between breakfast habits and the nutritional status of students at Muhammadiyah Kayen Elementary School. The study used a quantitative approach with a cross-sectional design and utilized primary data. The study population was all 225 students in grades I to IV. Of these, 112 students were selected through a purposive sampling technique. Data were collected using a questionnaire to explore breakfast habits and anthropometric measurements of height and weight to determine nutritional status. Data analysis was performed using the Fisher exact test. The results showed a p-value of 0.742 (p > 0.05), indicating no significant relationship between breakfast habits and students' nutritional status. A total of 79.5% of students had good breakfast habits, while 20.5% were classified as adequate. Meanwhile, the students' nutritional status consisted of good nutrition (57.1%), overnutrition (19.7%), obesity (11.6%), malnutrition (8%), and undernutrition (3.6%). Thus, it can be concluded that breakfast habits are not significantly related to the nutritional status of students at the school.
