Christian Religious Education (PAK) research in Indonesia has undergone significant developments, but its future direction and relevance are still crucial questions. This article aims to map the PAK research landscape and identify key challenges and opportunities through a literature review of publications in national and international journals, theses, and dissertations. The analysis is focused on three aspects: dominant themes, methodology, and contextual relevance. The findings show the dominance of conventional themes such as teaching methods, curriculum, and the role of teachers, with a qualitative approach limited to case studies, making generalizations difficult. Contemporary issues such as religious pluralism, digital media, Generation Z spirituality, integration of faith and knowledge, and inclusive approaches in multicultural contexts are still underexplored. This article proposes the reorientation of PAK research through an interdisciplinary approach (theology with psychology, sociology, media studies), methodological strengthening (longitudinal and mixed-methods studies), and emphasis on Indonesia's socio-cultural reality as a starting point. With this strategy, PAK's research is expected to be able to expand its theoretical contribution while answering practical challenges in shaping the character and spirituality of students in the era of modernity.

This study aims to understand the perspectives of pastors from the Punguan Kristen Batak Church (GPKB) regarding disability-friendly services for congregants. As a faith community, the church has a significant responsibility to create an inclusive environment where every member, including those with disabilities, is accepted and served equally. People with disabilities are seen not only as part of human diversity but also as part of the whole body of Christ, and therefore, their service must be prioritized in church life. This research uses a qualitative descriptive analytical approach, with data collected through in-depth interviews with six pastors from GPKB districts in Indonesia to explore theological understanding, practical experience, and challenges in serving congregants with disabilities. Data analysis was conducted thematically to identify patterns of views, service practices, and obstacles that arise. The results show that 84% of pastors have a positive perspective on inclusive service and support congregants with disabilities. However, the study also found challenges such as inadequate physical facilities, minimal service strategies, and limited theological understanding of disabilities. In conclusion, a paradigm shift, capacity building for pastors, and ongoing institutional support are needed to create an inclusive and disability-friendly church.

The sulang-sulang hariapan tradition is a significant cultural heritage of the Batak Toba community that embodies values of love, respect for elders, family reconciliation, equitable inheritance distribution, and leadership regeneration. The ritual is traditionally performed by offering food to parents who have reached the status of saur matua, symbolizing gratitude and respect. It is also accompanied by requests for blessings, advice, and public acknowledgment of mistakes, thus fostering peace, forgiveness, and social harmony within the community. However, in contemporary practice, the meaning of this tradition has gradually shifted toward a more formalized ceremony that emphasizes social status rather than its original spiritual and communal values. This study employs descriptive qualitative methods, combining field research with theological reflection, to examine how the values inherent in sulang-sulang hariapan can be understood in the light of the Gospel. The findings indicate that the tradition has profound potential to serve as a contextual medium for Christian faith expression. Therefore, it is crucial to revitalize its theological meaning so that the tradition remains relevant and transformative in strengthening family bonds and nurturing leadership in the modern era.

Education plays a crucial role in shaping the personality, morals, and spiritual values of students. In the Islamic perspective, education is not solely focused on the mastery of knowledge but also includes the cultivation of noble character, the strengthening of faith, and the enhancement of religiosity as a form of devotion to Allah Swt. Islamic boarding schools (pondok pesantren), as traditional Islamic educational institutions, have a strategic role in instilling these values through religious activities, the teaching of classical Islamic texts (kitab kuning), and the habituation of virtuous behavior. Pesantren serve not only as centers of learning but also as institutions for character formation and spiritual development. However, the forces of globalization and modernization bring new challenges in the form of cultural, technological, and informational influences that often conflict with Islamic values. Therefore, pesantren are required to develop adaptive, innovative, and relevant educational strategies that align with contemporary needs without losing their Islamic identity. One effective approach is the implementation of Islamic counseling, a process of psychological and spiritual guidance grounded in the Qur’an and Sunnah. Through this counseling, students are expected to strengthen their faith, enhance their religiosity, and develop moral resilience in facing the dynamics of modern life based on strong Islamic values.

The spirituality of today’s church youth encounters multidimensional challenges, particularly the pervasive influence of digital culture, the gradual decline in interest toward spiritual disciplines, and the weakening of involvement in ecclesial ministry. Such dynamics often create a gap between theological knowledge and lived faith experiences. This Community Service (PkM) initiative was designed to respond to these issues by implementing an interactive model aimed at enhancing the spiritual understanding of the youth at GKSI Trimorejo Congregation. The model emphasizes participatory learning processes, in which youth are not merely passive recipients of teaching but active contributors to collective faith formation. The methodological framework consisted of three main stages: initial observation to identify needs and spiritual conditions; preparation of training modules contextualized with the congregation’s realities; and the implementation of interactive activities such as group discussions, thematic Bible studies, role-play, and collective reflection. Evaluation strategies integrated both quantitative and qualitative approaches, including pre-tests and post-tests to measure cognitive growth, alongside participatory interviews to capture experiential insights. The findings reveal a notable increase in youth comprehension of biblical principles, heightened enthusiasm and participation in church programs, and the establishment of a more cohesive spiritual learning community. Furthermore, the process encouraged a deeper sense of belonging and responsibility among the participants toward their ecclesial environment. In conclusion, the interactive model demonstrates significant effectiveness in fostering youth spirituality and may serve as a viable alternative strategy for churches encountering similar challenges within contemporary contexts of ministry.

Humans are social creatureswho need interaction with other people to build their lives. Shared life emphasizes love that comes from God. People are not only involved in certain communities, people must also be more involved in the life of the Church. Their involvement in Church life is about how they actively participate in strengthening their spiritual bond with God. The advancement of digital technology in society has caused many people to utilize modern technology in carrying out catechetical activities because of the importance of building society’s faith in the digital era. Learning catechesis with various new services, both for the general public and small groups, will facilitate and encourage their ability to understand technology and their faith in God. Catechesis is a systematic and planned process in pastoral activities, catechesis has its own goal, namely to maintain, develop and mature the faith of the people through a systematic and planned teaching process so that people will increasingly live in the fullness of their faith in Jesus Christ and live according to his will (cf. CT. arts 20-21). The experience of using social media generally provided benefits for who felt they gained insight and were strengthened in the religious identity of the people. People see social media as a means to apostolic role with various spiritual content.

This study thoroughly explores the role of Christian women’s fellowship as a locus of spiritual recovery for survivors of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). The research was conducted through a library study of scholarly literature published in the past decade on faith-based community support, religious coping, and trauma-informed ministry. Thematic analysis indicates that women’s fellowship can provide a safe and inclusive recovery environment, facilitate faith reconstruction through positive religious coping and trauma-sensitive practices, and bridge spiritual care with professional mental health services. The novelty of this research lies in integrating recent findings from the psychology of religion with pastoral theology principles to develop a theoretical-practical framework adaptable to church contexts. The practical implications include implementing trauma-informed ministry standards, designing adaptive spiritual curricula, training facilitators, and conducting continuous evaluations. Therefore, Christian women’s fellowship has the potential to strengthen the church’s capacity as a holistic, safe, and resilient recovery community for PTSD survivors.

The global ecological crisis demands that the church reconsider its calling as a participant in the missio Dei, which encompasses the restoration of all creation. This study aims to examine the concept of eco-missional stewardship as a model of Christian leadership that integrates spirituality, mission, and ecological responsibility. Using a theological-descriptive approach, this study interprets biblical texts and contemporary theological literature to formulate a leadership paradigm oriented toward the care of creation. The results show that stewardship leadership positions Christian leaders as stewards of God's will, guiding the church to live in harmony with creation through love, justice, and sustainability. Leadership rooted in ecological spirituality affirms that caring for the earth is an active expression of faith. Thus, eco-missional stewardship becomes a theological paradigm that expands the church's mission from human salvation to the reconciliation of all creation. These findings contribute to the development of a contextual and environmentally friendly theology of leadership.

The development of digital technology has changed the paradigm of church ministry from a conventional model to a more participatory digital and metaverse-based ministry. This study aims to analyze how Christian values are integrated into the digital ministry management of the KGPM Sidang Syalom Tetey Church, North Minahasa. Using a qualitative approach with a contextual case study method, this study explores the application of faith principles such as love, responsibility, honesty, loyalty, and servant leadership in the management of the church's digital ministry. The results show that digital ministry management in this church successfully combines technological innovation with Christian spirituality through the use of digital media, multimedia team coordination, and accountable online reporting. The integration of Christian values enables the church to carry out technologically relevant ministries without losing their ethical and spiritual dimensions. In the context of the metaverse era, churches face ethical, relational, and spiritual challenges, but also gain new mission opportunities to expand their ministry across geographical boundaries. The theological implications of this study emphasize the importance of theological discernment and spiritual accountability in directing the use of technology as a means of mission, not as an end in itself. Thus, the church is called to be an ethical and prophetic agent in the midst of digital transformation, making technology a tool to glorify Christ and strengthen the faith life of the congregation.

The doctrine of the Perseverance of the Saints-also known as "once saved, always saved"-has been one of the most important tenets of the Reformed tradition. It states that those who are truly chosen and born again will never lose their salvation. However, this doctrine is not free from criticism, both from the perspective of Arminian theology and from the pastoral reality of people who fall into sin. This journal aims to evaluate the biblical basis, systematic logic, and practical implications of this doctrine. The research is conducted through a theological-critical approach, taking into account the primary sources of Scripture and the thought of classical and contemporary theologians. The results show that this doctrine, while having a strong Biblical foundation, requires caution in its application so as not to give rise to a permissive attitude towards sin or neglect the importance of continued growth in faith.

Church discipleship is a concrete manifestation of the shepherd's primary role and responsibility within the life of the church. A shepherd is not merely a preacher or worship leader, but a spiritual mentor committed to guiding the congregation toward spiritual maturity. This discipleship process involves various aspects such as deep biblical teaching, personal and communal pastoral care, and continuous discipleship. The main goal is for the congregation to move beyond superficial faith and grow into Christ-like individuals in character, knowledge, and action. This article explores biblical and theological principles of church discipleship and how the shepherd's role must be contextualized to meet the challenges of the present age and the needs of the people. In a world that is constantly changing and spiritually challenging, effective discipleship becomes crucial for the church to remain relevant and spiritually strong. This study affirms that spiritual maturity cannot be achieved instantly, but through a purposeful, consistent process rooted in love and the truth of God's Word. Therefore, discipleship must be a pastoral priority to build a mature, strong, and impactful church.

This study aims to determine the exemplary leadership of Joshua and its implications for the ministry of the Elders at the GKPPD Penjaraten Resort Kuta Dame Pakpak Bharat. The background of this study departs from the fact that not all Elders demonstrate leadership character in accordance with Biblical values, especially as exemplified by Joshua as a humble, selfless, and exemplary leader of the Israelites. This study uses a qualitative method with a descriptive analysis approach, namely by analyzing and describing the character of Joshua's leadership and its relevance to the current condition of the Elders' ministry. The results of the study show four exemplary aspects of Joshua's leadership, namely: Joshua always prioritizes God, Joshua has great empathy for the Israelites, Joshua demonstrates obedience and steadfastness of faith, and Joshua implements servant leadership. Emulating Joshua's leadership is important for GKPPD Elders because Joshua demonstrates leadership that always prioritizes God in every decision. His exemplary in having empathy and concern for the congregation becomes a real example for Elders in serving the congregation with heart. Joshua's obedience and steadfast faith also encouraged the Elders to live with integrity and serve as spiritual role models. Furthermore, Joshua's selfless leadership style taught that true service is done with sincerity, not for personal gain.

This study aims to analyze the representation of character values within the Eight Dimensions of Graduate Profiles aligned with the vision of the Pancasila Student Profile in Amalia Najichah’s poems from the anthology Surat dari Samudera (Letters from the Ocean). The research employs a qualitative approach using content analysis, complemented by stylistic and literary reception theories. The data consist of six poems analyzed based on eight character dimensions: Faith and Piety to God Almighty, Citizenship, Critical Thinking, Creativity, Collaboration, Independence, Health, and Communication. The findings reveal that all poems reflect these character values, with Citizenship and Collaboration as the most dominant dimensions. Stylistic analysis shows that the use of repetition, metaphor, and onomatopoeia not only enhances aesthetic quality but also reinforces moral and social messages. Meanwhile, reception theory analysis indicates that young readers can internalize these values cognitively, affectively, and socially through reflective and contextual reading experiences. The study concludes that youth poetry has strong potential as an effective medium for character education in the Merdeka Curriculum, both in intracurricular and co-curricular contexts. Therefore, Amalia Najichah’s works serve not only as aesthetic expressions of adolescence but also as strategic instruments for shaping a faithful, independent, collaborative, and Pancasila-oriented generation.

This research  examines the transfiguration of Jesus in the Synoptic Gospels, with particular emphasis on the theological distinctiveness of the Gospel of Mark. The study employs a qualitative method using a literature review approach, focusing on narrative analysis, textual comparison, and theological reflection. The analysis shows that although Matthew, Mark, and Luke present the transfiguration event, each Gospel offers distinctive features in wording, narrative structure, and theological emphasis. Mark presents the transfiguration in a concise form, portraying Jesus as the messianic Son of God and as a prophet like Moses, while highlighting the apocalyptic and symbolic aspects of this divine encounter. From Mark’s perspective, the transfiguration serves as a prefiguration of Jesus’ resurrection and a revelation of His messianic identity, which in the Greco-Roman context may be understood as apotheosis—the elevation of a human into divinity. This study affirms that the transfiguration in Mark is not only a historical event but also a theological event that encompasses eschatological and christological dimensions, as well as a reflection on divine hiddenness. In conclusion, the transfiguration is understood as a manifestation of Jesus’ hidden glory within suffering, confirming that the path to resurrection and glory must pass through the cross. This article contributes to biblical and theological studies by demonstrating how Mark articulates a unique christology, one that remains relevant for contemporary Christian faith and opens avenues for further exploration through apocalyptic theology and scriptural intertextuality.

This research discusses the development of multimedia technology in the postmodern era and examines its profound influence on the life of the church. In this era, the presence of multimedia technology provides both new opportunities and complex challenges for the church in carrying out its mission and maintaining the relevance of its message. The study emphasizes that technology can serve as a bridge between tradition and modernity, helping the church to communicate values of faith more effectively to the congregation and the wider public. The research applies a qualitative approach with data collection techniques that include direct observations in the field, in-depth interviews, and analysis of related phenomena obtained from relevant sources. The findings highlight that multimedia technology has the potential to become an important mediator in connecting the context of contemporary life with the growth of the congregation’s faith, especially in worship practices, spiritual formation, and outreach activities. Thus, technology is not only a tool but also a partner in ministry.

Believers, both in the time of Jesus and in today’s context, live in situations shaped by social, political, economic, religious, and cultural influences that often give rise to anxiety and doubt about God’s providence. In Luke 12:22–32, Jesus delivers a teaching that prohibits worry and calls His followers to direct their hearts toward the Kingdom of God. For those living under Roman rule, these words were a source of comfort and encouragement to remain steadfast in their faith in God’s power, and for believers today, the same message continues to be relevant as guidance for managing worry with trust and hope. This study seeks to analyze Luke 12:22–32 from the perspective of the theology of God’s providence and to explain its implications for contemporary Christian life. The findings emphasize three key points: first, the passage affirms God as a sovereign, loving Father who cares deeply for His people; second, God’s providence includes both physical and spiritual needs, thus framing faith as an active trust that combines prayer, hope, and concrete action; and third, reflection on God’s providence strengthens believers to face modern anxieties by prioritizing the Kingdom of God, practicing spiritual discipline, and embodying solidarity with others. Although limited in scope as a textual study without cultural or empirical application, this research contributes significantly to understanding God’s providence in Luke 12:22–32 and underlines its relevance for addressing contemporary challenges while encouraging Christians to live out their faith in tangible ways.

This study discusses child adoption in the context of Christian theology, focusing on the opinions of the congregation of HKBP Kana Resort Kana Duri. Child adoption is an effort to provide affection and protection to children who do not have biological parents or who have been abandoned, in accordance with the values of love and acceptance taught in the Bible. In the Christian view, adoption is not only seen as a social solution, but also has a deep theological dimension, reflecting the relationship between God and His people as Father and His children. This study uses a qualitative descriptive approach to explore the congregation's views on child adoption and the challenges they face in implementing this practice. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and literature studies, which were then analyzed to understand the theological meaning of child adoption and the congregation's opinions on adoption. From the results of the study, it can be concluded that the problems that exist are in the personal and social readiness of the congregation, lack of education, and the absence of special assistance from the church as an institution of faith that should be a protector and director in making ethical and moral decisions for its congregation.

The character crisis and the weakening of Islamic understanding among the younger generation have become serious issues that need to be addressed starting from early childhood education. Kindergarten children are at a phase of fitrah development, which significantly determines the formation of their personality in the future. Islamic education is expected to provide a comprehensive solution in shaping the child's personality from an early age, balancing cognitive, emotional, social, and spiritual aspects. This study aims to examine the theoretical implementation of Islamic Montessori learning as a means of forming an integral Islamic personality in early childhood. Using a literature review approach and qualitative content analysis, this study examines various theories, previous research findings, and expert views sourced from books, journals, and scientific works related to early childhood education and Islamic education. The results show that Islamic Montessori significantly contributes to the development of an integral Islamic personality. Children not only develop cognitively and psychomotorically but also become accustomed to the habits of worship, discipline, responsibility, empathy, and respect for others. Through a conducive learning environment and direct practices of Islamic life, Islamic Montessori serves as a strategic tool in preparing a Muslim generation that is faithful, noble in character, with strong Islamic personality and independence.
