Smoking behavior among adolescents in Indonesia remains a serious public health challenge with increasing prevalence. Adolescence is a vulnerable period where psychological factors and the social environment significantly influence the decision to smoke. This study aims to review the factors influencing smoking behavior among adolescents based on the Health Belief Model (HBM) theoretical framework. This study is a literature review that analyzes various research findings related to the determinants of smoking behavior using HBM components. The analysis shows that all dimensions of HBM play a role in shaping smoking behavior. Self-efficacy and perceived susceptibility were found to be the strongest predictors. Although adolescents have a good perceived severity of the dangers of smoking, they are often hindered by high perceived barriers, such as peer pressure and psychological dependence. Consistent cues to action and perceived benefits are proven to encourage prevention and smoking cessation efforts. Adolescent smoking behavior is strongly influenced by individual beliefs in self-ability and health risks. Health interventions should focus on strengthening self-control and managing social influences to reduce the number of adolescent smokers.

This study aims to analyze the forms of collaboration between teachers and parents in following up on the results of observational assessments of early childhood self-regulation development. The study employs a qualitative approach with a case study design in a non-formal early childhood education (PAUD) setting. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and analysis of assessment documents. The findings indicate that observational assessment serves as an initial foundation for identifying children’s abilities to manage emotions and behavior. The assessment results are then followed up through collaborative practices in the form of regular communication, exchange of information regarding children’s development, and agreements on guidance strategies between teachers and parents. The role of parents is evident in the consistent implementation of guidance strategies at home, aligned with the stimulation provided by teachers at school. This alignment of roles has been shown to strengthen children’s self-regulation development, particularly in impulse control, behavioral regulation, and the ability to follow rules. The study emphasizes that structured and continuous teacher–parent collaboration is a key factor in the effectiveness of follow-up actions based on observational assessment results in supporting early childhood social-emotional development.

Premarital sexual behavior among adolescents remains a public health concern influenced by social change, technological development, and social environment. This study aims to analyze factors associated with adolescent premarital sexual behavior based on the Health Belief Model (HBM). A systematic literature review was conducted on eight studies published between 2019 and 2025, including journal articles, undergraduate theses, and a doctoral dissertation. The findings were analyzed by categorizing the results into six HBM components: perceived susceptibility, perceived severity, perceived benefits, perceived barriers, cues to action, and self-efficacy. The results indicate that perceived susceptibility is the most consistently associated component with adolescent premarital sexual behavior. Perceived severity, perceived barriers, cues to action, and self-efficacy also show significant associations in several studies, whereas perceived benefits demonstrate the weakest and most inconsistent relationship. Overall, adolescent premarital sexual behavior is shaped by the interaction between risk perception, environmental support, and individual confidence in behavioral control. These findings confirm that the Health Belief Model remains a relevant framework for designing adolescent health promotion and preventive interventions.

Type 2 diabetes mellitus (DM type 2) is a chronic metabolic disorder marked by elevated blood glucose due to insulin resistance and impaired insulin secretion. Its prevalence continues to rise worldwide, including in Indonesia. Psychological stress is known to worsen glycemic control by activating the sympathetic nervous system and increasing cortisol levels, which can cause fluctuations in blood glucose. This case report aims to describe the effect of combining Benson relaxation techniques with warm foot soaking on blood glucose regulation in a type 2 DM patient. The subject was Mrs. M, a 52-year-old woman diagnosed with type 2 DM. The intervention was conducted for seven consecutive days and consisted of daily Benson relaxation followed by warm foot soaking for 15–20 minutes. Blood glucose levels were measured before and after each session using a glucometer and analyzed descriptively. After seven days, the patient’s blood glucose level decreased from 248 mg/dL to 186 mg/dL. She also reported improved relaxation, better sleep quality, reduced anxiety, and decreased fatigue. These findings suggest that Benson relaxation helps activate the parasympathetic response and reduce stress hormones, while warm foot soaking supports improved circulation and metabolic processes. In conclusion, the combination of Benson relaxation and warm foot soaking is a simple, safe, and effective complementary therapy to support blood glucose regulation in type 2 DM patients. This intervention can be integrated into self-care routines and community nursing practice as part of evidence-based non-pharmacological management.

This study aims to identify the representation and manifestation of social values contained in the novel “40 Hari Takdir Itu Bernama Hidup dan Mati” (40 Days of Destiny Called Life and Death) by Adeicama. The research method used is a literature study with note-taking techniques on primary data (novels) and secondary data (related literature). Data analysis was conducted using descriptive qualitative methods based on Wirawan's theory of social values, Mulyana's theory of religious values, and Nurgiyantoro's theory of literary analysis. The results show that this novel represents social values through solidarity, caring, responsibility, and criticism of technological dependence. Religious values are manifested through faith in destiny, sincerity in loss, self-control, and the role of prayer and hope. These two aspects of value are interrelated, enriching the meaning of the story and providing an understanding of how humans deal with the uncertainties of life through social norms and spiritual strength. This research contributes to the development of literary studies and literary sociology, and is relevant for increasing public appreciation and critical understanding of the function of literature as a reflection of ethical and social norms.

The high incidence of risky sexual behavior among adolescents is caused by several factors, such as the environment and low selfcontrol. Adolescents living in former red-light districts are at higher risk of risky sexual behavior due to environmental factors and a lack of self-control. Therefore, appropriate psychoeducational media are needed to help improve adolescents' selfcontrol so that risky sexual behavior can be prevented. This study aims to determine the content validity of the ‘SCOUPER’ self-control psychoeducation module as a preventive measure against risky sexual behavior among adolescents in former red-light districts. This study used the Research and Development (R&D) method with a 3D model (Define, Design, and Develop). The define stage analyzed the needs of adolescents, the design stage developed the self-control psychoeducation module, and the develop stage included validity testing with rating scores by experts or validators. The data analysis used in this study was descriptive analysis with Aiken's V formula and validator input. The validity test results showed that the SCOUPER self-control psychoeducation module scored between 0.75 and 1,00 in the high – very high category. Based on the validity test results, the SCOUPER module can be concluded to be valid for use with some suggestions and improvements from the validator. The SCOUPER self-control psychoeducation module is valid in terms of content, construct, and language, and has the potential to be used as a preventive medium in preventing risky sexual behavior among adolescents, especially in former red-light districts.

Modern education often falls short in nurturing character, as it tends to prioritize cognitive achievement over holistic development producing students who excel academically but lack independence, creativity, and moral strength. This study seeks to explore the concept of Tarbiyah Based on Khudi (Ego/Selfhood) inspired by Muhammad Iqbal, positioning it as a philosophical and pedagogical framework to address the current character crisis and cultivate Independent and Creative individuals toward the realization of Insan Kamil (the Perfect Human). Employing a qualitative method through a library research approach, this study conceptually examines the three fundamental pillars of Khudi development: Obedience (Ita’at)/Discipline, Self-Mastery (Dabt-i-Zabt)/Self-Control, and Vicegerency (Niyabat-i-Ilahiyyah)/Creativity. The findings indicate that Khudi-based Tarbiyah serves as an effective integrative framework. Genuine independence arises from self-control, fostering responsible freedom and autonomy, while creativity embodies the essence of vicegerency through a continuous spirit of Ijtihad that drives social innovation and civilizational progress. Ultimately, Khudi ensures spiritual independence and moral vitality. The study recommends adopting progressive and dynamic learning models such as project-based learning aligned with the Khudi philosophy to integrate affective and psychomotor dimensions into Indonesia’s character education.

The high number of hypertension cases is due to the still low level of hypertension control, specifically medication adherence. Treatment adherence is crucial for maintaining health and well-being in patients with hypertension. In contrast, non-adherence to medication leads to treatment failure. This study aims to determine the relationship between self-management and adherence to hypertension medication in the elderly. This research employed an analytical design with a cross-sectional approach. The study consisted of 49 elderly people with hypertension in Cot Cut Village, Kuta Baro, Aceh Besar. The sample was chosen using a total sampling technique. The MMAS-8 questionnaire was used to assess adherence to hypertension medication with a Cronbach's alpha of 0.860. The self-management questionnaire showed a Cronbach's alpha of 0.766. The research was conducted from April 8th to 14th, 2025. The data analysis used univariate and bivariate methods, using the chi-square test. The results showed that out of 49 respondents, 21 (42.9%) were less adherent to hypertension medication, and 29 (59.2%) had less adherence to self-management. The chi-square test indicated a p-value of 0.001, showing a relationship between self-management and adherence to hypertension medication among the elderly. This research suggests that hypertensive patients should be supervised to improve medication adherence and self-care management to maintain stable blood pressure.

This article offers a philosophical exploration of two classical concepts of self-control: zuhud in Islamic intellectual tradition and apatheia in Stoic philosophy, within the framework of modern character education. Using a qualitative library research approach, this study employs content analysis and philosophical hermeneutics to examine the works of key thinkers such as Al-Ghazali, Ibn Qayyim al-Jawziyyah, Marcus Aurelius, and Epictetus. The findings indicate that zuhud emphasizes detachment from material desires through spiritual awareness and prioritization of divine values, while apatheia focuses on achieving inner peace and moral clarity by rationally managing emotions and eliminating unnecessary passions. Although rooted in different theological worldviews, both concepts converge in promoting a form of self-control that enhances inner freedom, ethical behavior, and self-discipline. This study argues that the integration of zuhud and apatheia can enrich contemporary character education by balancing rational moral reasoning with spiritual consciousness. The educational model proposed in this research emphasizes the importance of teaching students to reflect critically, regulate their emotions, and cultivate inner balance rooted in universal ethical values. Thus, the synthesis of both traditions contributes to the advancement of character education that is holistic, contemplative, and morally grounded.

This study explores the representation of hegemonic masculinity in The Super Mario Bros (2023), focusing on the character Bowser as a central figure of dominance and authority. Using Connell’s (2005) theory of hegemonic masculinity, this research identifies the masculine traits manifested through Bowser’s verbal and non-verbal expressions. The study employed a qualitative descriptive method with textual analysis on thirty selected scenes from the film. The findings reveal that Bowser exhibits all seven traits of hegemonic masculinity, including aggression and competition, dominance and control, physical strength, emotional restraint, risk-taking, sexual conquest, and self-confidence. Among these, aggression and competition (23.3%) and dominance and control (20%) are the most prominent. Bowser’s masculinity reflects how patriarchal ideals are embedded within modern animated cinema, emphasizing control, strength, and emotional suppression. This study contributes to the understanding of how traditional masculinity continues to be reproduced in contemporary media, influencing audience perceptions of male identity and power.

This study aims to analyze the influence of the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model assisted by e-LKPD on students’ problem-solving abilities and self-confidence in vocational high schools. Specifically, the objectives are: (1) to examine the simultaneous effect of the PBL model assisted by e-LKPD on both variables, (2) to determine its effect on problem-solving ability, and (3) to evaluate its effect on self-confidence. A quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental pretest–posttest control group design was applied. The population consisted of all 10th-grade students at SMK Negeri 1 Tarakan, while the sample was selected using purposive sampling, resulting in class X Marketing 1 (35 students) as the experimental group and class X Culinary 2 (34 students) as the control group. Research instruments included a problem-solving test and a self-confidence questionnaire. Hypothesis testing utilized Hotelling’s T² and independent sample t-tests. The findings showed that 97% of students in the experimental class met the Learning Objectives Mastery (KKTP), compared to only 18% in the control group. Improvement in the experimental group was categorized as high, whereas in the control group it was moderate. Self-confidence also increased significantly in the experimental group, with most students moving from low to high categories. Hotelling’s Trace (Fcount = 77.109, p < 0.001) and t-tests confirmed significant effects on both problem-solving (tcount = 11.657) and self-confidence (tcount = 8.140), proving that the PBL model assisted by e-LKPD effectively enhances students’ abilities and confidence.

This study aims to reveal and describe the dramatic structure of the Retna Paniti play as performed by Mariyanto, a puppeteer from Ngawonggo, Klaten. The research was conducted because the performance presents a distinctive dramatic form that differs from the conventional structure of the Surakarta-style pakeliran. This study employs a qualitative approach with a descriptive-analytical method, focusing on the analysis of scene sequences and the interrelation among dramatic elements. Data were collected through literature review, observation of the 2018 performance recording, and in-depth interviews with informants familiar with Mariyanto’s puppetry style. The findings indicate that the dramatic structure of Retna Paniti in Mariyanto’s version follows a pattern close to Freytag’s Pyramid theory, yet adapted to the folk puppetry tradition of the Ngawonggo substyle. The performance opens with the battle scene between Gatotkaca and Baladewa, creating immediate tension, which contrasts with the Surakarta-style convention that typically begins with the jejer scene. The dramatic flow progresses from exposition to falling action and culminates in the achievement of harmony. The central theme emphasizes ethical values concerning harmony, loyalty, and self-control in social life, maintaining its relevance in contemporary society.
