This study aims to analyze the dynamics of interest groups in the food vendor appointment process in Medan City, particularly those based on political proximity. Using a qualitative approach with library research method and content analysis technique, data were collected from official documents, government reports, accredited scientific journals, laws and regulations, and publications from institutions such as the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), the Government Procurement Policy Institute (LKPP), and the Statistics Indonesia (BPS). The analysis shows that the food vendor appointment process in Medan City is not entirely meritocratic. Political proximity and personal relationships play a dominant role as informal mechanisms in vendor selection. Procurement transparency remains limited, as reflected in the low public access to tender documents and vendor evaluations. This practice indicates systemic political patronage, which results in budget inefficiency, a decline in the quality of public services, and an erosion of public trust. This study recommends strengthening the electronic procurement system (e-procurement), increasing participatory oversight, and reforming the bureaucracy at the regional level.

This article discusses strengthening civic identity through multicultural education based on local wisdom in Gorontalo Regency. The main problem raised is how local culture, although recognized as a symbol of regional identity, has not been fully translated into an inclusive and reflective pedagogical design to shape students' civic awareness. This study uses a qualitative case study design based on document analysis, with data sources in the form of indexed journal articles, regional official publications, and educational documents published in 2021–2026. The focus of the study is directed at educational practices in Limboto and Dungaliyo. The data was selected purposively based on relevance, credibility, and thematic proximity, then analyzed through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawn. The results of the study show three main findings: first, huyula local wisdom as the value of mutual cooperation, solidarity, and collective responsibility functions as a cultural bridge that connects social diversity with civic disposition. Second, multicultural education is more effective when local values are explicitly integrated into classroom interactions, school habituation, collaborative work, and reflective discussions. Third, challenges arise because many local values are still implicitly practiced so that they have not yet formed a reflective citizenship consciousness. This article concludes the need for a shift from symbolic recognition to structured pedagogical design through curriculum contextualization, teacher mediation, and school-to-community partnerships.

This research explores hedonistic lifestyle patterns as a social reality that grows within peer interactions, both in adolescence and adulthood. The investigation applies a qualitative descriptive literature review by examining national scholarly publications issued from 2016 to 2026. The findings indicate that hedonistic tendencies should not be interpreted merely as individual choices to seek enjoyment. Instead, they emerge from social processes shaped by interaction, peer influence, and shared norms that develop within a group. In this context, peer circles function as influential socialization agents, encouraging conformity so individuals can be accepted and avoid social exclusion. The study also identifies differences in underlying motivations across life stages. Among adolescents, hedonistic behavior is closely linked to identity exploration and self-definition. For adults, however, it is more associated with maintaining self-image, signaling social standing, and displaying markers of achievement. Overall, environmental dynamics, the expansion of consumer-oriented culture, and intensive exposure to social media play significant roles in strengthening this phenomenon in Indonesia.

The dominance of Western management paradigms in global leadership studies has created homogeneous standards that are less sensitive to non-Western cultural values, while the decolonization of management calls for more contextual, inclusive, and locally-informed approaches. This study aims to analyze the concept of cross-cultural leadership within the framework of management decolonization, identify critiques of Western leadership models, and formulate a conceptual framework for global leadership based on non-Western values. The approach employed is qualitative, drawing on literature review and thematic synthesis of academic publications, international reports, and policy documents relevant to leadership practices in Asia, Africa, and Latin America. The findings reveal that cross-cultural leadership emphasizes collectivism, social harmony, relationality, spirituality, and the integration of local values into decision-making, which significantly diverges from the individualistic and transformational models dominant in the West. These findings underscore the need to reconstruct global leadership standards to be more pluralistic, culturally sensitive, and adaptive to the diversity of multinational organizations. Conceptually, this article contributes an alternative framework for global leadership studies, providing a foundation for managerial practices that respect local cultural values, and offering implications for curriculum development in management education and organizational policies that support inclusivity and sustainability in cross-cultural environments. The abstract reflects the study’s contribution to expanding the literature on cross-cultural leadership through decolonial and indigenous leadership perspectives. Keywords: Cross-cultural leadership, Manajemen decolonization, Non-Western global standards, Indigenous leadership, Postcolonial management, Local cultural values

Strawberries are horticultural commodities that are highly susceptible to postharvest deterioration due to their high respiration rate, microbial activity, and oxidative degradation, resulting in a relatively short shelf life. This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of edible coatings in extending strawberry shelf life through a systematic literature review (SLR) approach. Literature was collected from several scientific databases using keywords related to edible coating, shelf life, and strawberry, covering publications from 2019–2026. From an initial 109 articles, a selection process based on inclusion and exclusion criteria resulted in 35 articles specifically discussing the application of edible coatings on strawberries. The synthesis results showed that all studies reported an extension of shelf life after edible coating application, although the effectiveness was influenced by the type of material, formulation, and storage conditions. Chitosan was the most widely used coating material due to its natural antimicrobial activity and excellent film-forming ability. The incorporation of bioactive compounds such as essential oils, plant extracts, and phenolic compounds was proven to enhance antifungal and antioxidant activities. In addition, nanotechnology-based systems demonstrated better preservation performance compared to conventional systems. However, methodological standardization and industrial-scale validation are still required to support commercial implementation.

The Labor-Intensive Housing Program is one of the Surabaya City Government’s policies aimed at reducing poverty and unemployment through labor-intensive community empowerment. This study aims to describe and analyze the implementation of the Labor-Intensive Housing Program (RPK) at the Pitstop business unit in Lidah Kulon Village, Lakarsantri Subdistrict, Surabaya City. This study employs a qualitative method with a descriptive approach, utilizing Van Meter and Van’s policy implementation theory. Primary data were collected through interviews and observations, while secondary data were derived from official documents and relevant publications. The results showed that the implementation of the Pitstop Labor Intensive Housing Program has not yet been optimal. In terms of policy standards and objectives, the program’s goals have been clearly defined but have not yet been fully achieved. Regarding resources, the availability of facilities and funding is adequate, but there are still limitations in human resources, particularly skilled technicians in the automotive repair field. Inter organizational communication has taken place but has not been intensive enough to support business sustainability. Characteristics of the implementing agents indicate that the structure of the Labor-Intensive Housing team has been clearly defined; however, implementation in the field has not been optimal due to weak coordination and communication. Economic, social, and political conditions-such as a less-than-strategic business location and high competition from similar businesses-have also contributed to the low number of customers. Meanwhile, the disposition of the implementers demonstrates a positive attitude in supporting the Labor-Intensive Housing program. The Labor-Intensive Housing Program must be supported by professional mechanics through education, certification, and collaboration with the private sector and training institutions to ensure the quality of services. In addition, building public trust, coordination among stakeholders, and intensive support through monitoring and evaluation are key to the success and sustainability of the Labor-Intensive Housing Program.

This study analyzes the Public Relations communication strategy of PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) Daerah Operasi 8 Surabaya in socializing the Access by KAI digital application to the Surabaya community. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews with PR staff and Railfans Surabaya community members, participatory observation of socialization activities, and documentation of digital publications. Data analysis followed the interactive model of Miles, Huberman, and Saldana (2014). The findings reveal that PR communication strategies are implemented through a synergy of push communication, pull communication, and pass communication, supported by Two-Way Symmetrical Communication principles developed by Grunig and Hunt (1984). Push communication disseminates official information via social media platforms; pull communication attracts audiences through visually compelling and educational content; while pass communication emphasizes two-way engagement that builds public trust and loyalty. The study demonstrates that public engagement, interactive dialogue, and message adaptation to local audience characteristics positively contribute to increasing public understanding and acceptance of the Access by KAI application. The integration of these three strategies creates a holistic communication ecosystem that effectively bridges the gap between digital innovation and user behavior. Future research is recommended to examine similar strategies in other operational regions or employ quantitative approaches to measure adoption levels.
