This study aims to examine the effectiveness of assertive communication techniques in cross-cultural counseling for reducing avoidance behavior among students experiencing interpersonal friendship conflicts. Cultural differences between counselors and clients may influence communication patterns, emotional expression, and conflict resolution processes during counseling sessions. Friendship conflicts among university students commonly arise from jealousy, misunderstanding, social comparison, and ineffective interpersonal communication. These conditions often encourage students to avoid direct interaction to prevent further conflict. This study employed an experimental method using a One Group Pretest-Posttest Design. The participants were students who experienced friendship conflicts and demonstrated avoidance behavior tendencies. Data were collected through counseling individual. The intervention was delivered through counseling sessions that used assertive communication techniques and combined behavioral and humanistic approaches in a cross-cultural counseling setting. The findings revealed that assertive communication techniques were effective in reducing students’ avoidance behavior. After receiving the intervention, participants demonstrated greater confidence in expressing opinions, improved emotional regulation, increased openness in communication, and healthier interpersonal relationships. The study indicates that assertive communication in cross-cultural counseling can serve as an effective counseling strategy to help students manage interpersonal conflicts and improve social adjustment in higher education environments.

Rekomendasi: Diperlukan integrasi advanced security frameworks dan dukungan infrastruktur policy-driven untuk optimalisasi adopsi dan sustainability jaringan 5G.

Effective communication is an important element in the early childhood learning process because it plays a significant role in children’s social, emotional, and cognitive development. This study aims to determine the influence of teachers’ roles in developing effective communication among early childhood children aged 4–5 years at TK Damhil, Kota Selatan, Gorontalo Province. The research used a quantitative method with a descriptive research design. The research subjects consisted of 5 children aged 4–5 years selected through purposive sampling techniques. Data collection techniques were carried out through direct observation of children’s communication activities during the learning process. The results showed that the teacher’s role is very important in building effective communication through the use of simple language, responsive attitudes, active listening skills, and the use of verbal and nonverbal communication that is appropriate to children’s developmental characteristics. The implementation of effective communication was proven to improve children’s self-confidence, social interaction skills, and readiness to face formal education. Therefore, effective communication applied by teachers provides a positive contribution to optimizing early childhood development.

This study endeavors to elucidate the application of educational videos pertaining to Heroes' Day in fostering the social communication competencies of early childhood learners at Kindergarten 001 Bunguran Timur Laut. Social communication skills are essential for young children as they support language development, social interaction, emotional expression, and the ability to build positive relationships with others. Therefore, educators are encouraged to utilize innovative and engaging learning media that can effectively stimulate children's communication abilities. The methodological framework employed in this investigation was qualitative in nature, utilizing a descriptive approach. The participant cohort comprised 15 children from Group B, aged between 5–6 years. Data were gathered through systematic observation, structured interviews, and comprehensive documentation to obtain a thorough understanding of the learning process and its outcomes. The findings revealed that the integration of educational videos concerning Heroes' Day facilitated the development of social communication skills among children, including verbal expression, responsive inquiry, collaborative engagement, and interactive discourse with peers and educators. The participants demonstrated heightened enthusiasm, greater confidence in expressing their opinions, and increased active participation throughout the instructional sequence. Moreover, the visual and auditory elements of the videos helped children better understand the learning material and encouraged meaningful discussions. Consequently, educational videos pertaining to Heroes' Day may serve as an effective pedagogical medium for nurturing the social communication competencies of early childhood learners at Kindergarten 001 Bunguran Timur Laut.

Pengabdian masyarakat merupakan salah satu bentuk implementasi Tri Dharma Perguruan Tinggi yang bertujuan memberikan kontribusi nyata kepada masyarakat, khususnya dalam bidang pendidikan. Penelitian ini membahas program UKPI Pengajaran yang dilaksanakan oleh UKPI UIN Sunan Ampel Surabaya sebagai bentuk pengabdian masyarakat berbasis pendidikan. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pelaksanaan, dampak, dan luaran dari program UKPI Pengajaran terhadap mahasiswa maupun siswa yang terlibat dalam kegiatan pembelajaran. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode deskriptif kualitatif dengan teknik pengumpulan data melalui observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa program UKPI Pengajaran memberikan dampak positif terhadap siswa dalam meningkatkan motivasi, semangat belajar, kedisiplinan, serta keaktifan selama proses pembelajaran berlangsung. Selain itu, program ini juga memberikan pengalaman dan wawasan kepada mahasiswa dalam bidang komunikasi, pengajaran, kepemimpinan, kerja sama tim, dan kepedulian sosial terhadap masyarakat sekitar. Kehadiran siswa dalam kegiatan pengajaran mampu menciptakan suasana belajar yang lebih interaktif, kreatif, dan menyenangkan bagi siswa. Program UKPI Pengajaran merupakan bentuk implementasi pengabdian masyarakat yang tidak hanya membantu proses pendidikan di sekolah, tetapi juga mengembangkan kemampuan intelektual, sosial, dan karakter siswa maupun siswa secara berkelanjutan sehingga memberikan manfaat positif bagi dunia pendidikan dan masyarakat lingkungan.

This study aims to analyze the role of organizational communication in improving organizational performance using a systematic literature review approach with a descriptive qualitative method. The data were obtained from various relevant scientific literature sources, including national journals and academic articles discussing organizational communication and performance. The results indicate that organizational communication plays a significant role in enhancing performance through effective vertical and horizontal communication patterns, clarity of information flow, and improved work coordination. In addition, organizational communication contributes to building harmonious working relationships, increasing motivation, and strengthening organizational commitment. Leadership plays a crucial role in managing communication effectiveness within the organization. However, communication effectiveness is also influenced by supporting and inhibiting factors, such as work environment, communication skills, and differences in individual perceptions. Therefore, organizations need to manage communication strategically to achieve optimal performance. This study provides theoretical contributions to the development of organizational communication studies and practical implications for organizations in improving communication effectiveness.

Family communication plays a crucial role in shaping the character and behavior of adolescents, especially in facing social challenges such as online gambling. This study aims to determine how parental communication patterns influence adolescents' involvement in online gambling activities in Lalang Village, Rana Mese District, East Manggarai Regency. Furthermore, this study also identifies various efforts made by parents to address this problem. The method used was a descriptive qualitative approach, with data collection through interviews, observation, and documentation. The results indicate four family communication patterns implemented by parents: pluralistic, consensual, protective, and laissez-faire. The pluralistic pattern is characterized by open communication and equal discussion, which encourages children to avoid online gambling. The consensual pattern combines warm communication with an emphasis on shared values. Conversely, the protective pattern tends to be dominant, where parents supervise without providing space for dialogue, resulting in children becoming withdrawn. The laissez-faire pattern, with minimal communication, makes children feel free to engage in gambling. This study uses the symbolic interaction theory, namely mind, self, and society. In addition to communication patterns, this study also found that parents undertake various efforts, such as limiting digital device use, providing advice, and increasing supervision of their children's social environment. These efforts demonstrate that their effectiveness is highly dependent on the quality of communication within the family.

Desa Kotayasa merupakan salah satu desa yang memiliki potensi besar di bidang pertanian dan pariwisata. Mayoritas masyarakat bekerja sebagai petani serta pelaku usaha di sektor pariwisata yang berkontribusi terhadap perekonomian masyarakat dan daerah. Namun demikian, masih terdapat siswa yang putus sekolah akibat keterbatasan ekonomi sehingga memilih bekerja untuk membantu keluarga. Kondisi tersebut menyebabkan rendahnya akses pendidikan, termasuk kemampuan bahasa Inggris yang penting dalam mendukung sektor pariwisata dan komunikasi dengan wisatawan asing. Selain itu, masyarakat juga perlu memahami kosakata bahasa Inggris yang berkaitan dengan empon-empon sebagai komoditas lokal unggulan. Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini bertujuan meningkatkan kemampuan dasar bahasa Inggris peserta didik PKBM Desa Kotayasa melalui pelatihan simple present tense, simple past tense, dan pengenalan kosakata empon-empon dalam bahasa Inggris. Metode pelaksanaan menggunakan pendekatan partisipatif melalui ceramah interaktif, latihan terstruktur, diskusi, dan permainan edukatif berbasis gamifikasi. Kegiatan dilaksanakan secara komunikatif dan menyenangkan agar peserta lebih aktif dan mudah memahami materi. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan adanya peningkatan kemampuan peserta dalam menyusun kalimat sederhana menggunakan simple present tense dan simple past tense, serta meningkatnya pemahaman kosakata empon-empon dalam bahasa Inggris. Program ini diharapkan dapat menjadi model pembelajaran kontekstual dan aplikatif bagi PKBM lainnya, khususnya pada wilayah berbasis pertanian dan pariwisata.

The development of information technology in the era of globalization has significantly transformed communication patterns in modern society, particularly through the emergence of social media. Social media functions not only as a communication tool but also influences ways of thinking, social interaction, and relationship building. This study aims to examine the impact of social media on changes in communication patterns, identify challenges related to the digital divide, and propose solutions to address the negative effects of social media. The method used is a descriptive approach through literature review and analysis of social phenomena related to social media usage. The discussion indicates that social media accelerates information dissemination, expands communication spaces, and increases public participation. However, it also presents challenges such as the spread of misinformation, reduced quality of face-to-face interactions, digital addiction, and disparities in access to technology and digital literacy. Therefore, strengthening digital literacy, promoting ethical communication, enhancing the roles of families and governments, and encouraging self-regulation among users are essential to ensure that social media contributes positively to modern social life.

Barriers to communication can increase patient anxiety, decrease adherence to therapy, and impact the quality of healthcare services. The SPIKES protocol presents a six-stage, systematic and empathetic communication model for conveying clinical information. This study aims to analyze the implementation of the SPIKES protocol as a health communication model in dental practice. The study used a systematic literature review method with data sources from the Scopus, PubMed, and Web of Science databases for the period 2020–2025. Article selection was carried out using the PRISMA approach based on inclusion and exclusion criteria. The results of the study indicate that the implementation of the SPIKES protocol can improve the clarity of information delivery, strengthen the relationship between healthcare professionals and patients, and reduce patient anxiety. In addition, the empathetic approach in SPIKES contributes to increased patient satisfaction and adherence to treatment plans. In conclusion, the implementation of the SPIKES protocol can support the improvement of the quality of clinical communication in dental practice through the delivery of targeted, humanistic, and patient-centered information.

 Penelitian ini mengkaji peran media sosial dalam membentuk pemahaman keagamaan dan toleransi antarumat beragama di kalangan generasi muda Indonesia, yang semakin intens berinteraksi dengan wacana keagamaan melalui platform digital dalam kehidupan sehari-hari. Media sosial tidak hanya berfungsi sebagai sarana untuk mengakses pengetahuan agama, tetapi juga sebagai ruang interaksi lintas iman yang memungkinkan pertemuan berbagai perspektif. Namun, peluang tersebut berjalan beriringan dengan tantangan berupa misinformasi, konten provokatif, serta echo chamber berbasis algoritma yang berpotensi mendistorsi penafsiran ajaran agama dan memperkuat polarisasi. Penelitian ini berfokus pada dua permasalahan utama, yaitu bagaimana generasi muda menafsirkan pesan-pesan keagamaan yang ditemui di media sosial, serta faktor digital dan sosial apa saja yang memengaruhi apakah keterlibatan tersebut mendorong sikap toleran atau justru memicu kesalahpahaman. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan teknik wawancara mendalam yang didukung oleh observasi awal untuk menggali pengalaman hidup pemuka agama dan generasi muda yang aktif dalam kegiatan keagamaan serta penggunaan media sosial. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pesan keagamaan yang positif, kemampuan berpikir kritis, serta keteladanan figur agama dan publik berperan penting dalam memperkuat perspektif keagamaan yang moderat dan meningkatkan keterbukaan antariman. Sebaliknya, rendahnya literasi digital dan paparan informasi yang homogen berkontribusi terhadap kesalahpahaman serta terbatasnya dialog lintas agama. Kebaruan penelitian ini terletak pada analisis terpadu antara praktik digital generasi muda dan perspektif otoritas keagamaan, sehingga memberikan pemahaman kontekstual mengenai dinamika komunikasi keagamaan di ruang digital. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa media sosial dapat mendorong harmoni antarumat beragama dan pendalaman pemahaman agama apabila didukung oleh produksi konten yang etis dan literasi digital yang kuat.

This study aims to analyze the novel Laskar Pelangi by Andrea Hirata using a critical hermeneutic approach developed by Jürgen Habermas. The focus of this research is to uncover the critical meaning contained in the novel as a reflection of social reality, especially in the field of education. The method used is descriptive qualitative research with data collection techniques through literature studies and text analysis in the form of excerpts in novels. The results of the study show that the novel Laskar Pelangi not only presents an inspiring story, but also contains criticism of the education system in Indonesia which is still colored by inequality and injustice. In the aspect of communicative action, it was found that there was a dialogical interaction between teachers and students as well as the value of solidarity and strong struggle. However, in the aspect of communication distortion, there is injustice in access to education and a lack of space for poor groups to voice their interests. In addition, the analysis also reveals the existence of ideology and domination, especially economic dominance over education and social systems that oppress the lower groups. On the other hand, the emancipatory interest in this novel is reflected through education as a tool of liberation and the struggle of its characters in fighting against limitations. Thus, this study concludes that the novel Laskar Pelangi has an important role as a social criticism medium that is able to build readers' critical awareness of the reality of education and social inequality that occurs in society.

Bali, as an international tourism destination, serves as a space for cross-cultural interactions that require effective communication skills, particularly in the hospitality sector. Hotel Masa Inn serves predominantly international guests, requiring front office staff to adapt to cross-cultural communication. This study aims to analyze the process of cross-cultural communication adaptation between Hotel Masainn employees and international guests through the perspective of Willingness to Communicate (WTC). A descriptive qualitative approach was employed using observation, structured interviews, and document analysis. Informants were selected purposively from front office staff. The findings indicate that communication adaptation is carried out through basic English proficiency, the use of nonverbal communication, active interaction, and intrinsic motivation to improve language skills. However, this process also faces challenges in the form of communication anxiety and situational pressure, particularly when dealing with repeater guests. Within the WTC framework, employees’ willingness to communicate is influenced by self-confidence, motivation, anxiety, and interactional context, which collectively contribute to service quality and international guest satisfaction.  

Meningitis is a serious infectious disease that can be prevented through vaccination; however, the vaccination process often causes anxiety in patients, especially during the pre-procedure phase. Uncontrolled anxiety can affect patient readiness and comfort. Therapeutic communication by nurses is one intervention that has the potential to reduce this level of anxiety. This study aims to determine the relationship between nurses’ therapeutic communication and the anxiety levels of patients prior to meningitis vaccination at Pambalah Batung Amuntai Regional General Hospital. This study used a quantitative analytic design with a cross-sectional approach. The sample consisted of 107 respondents selected using a convenience sampling technique. Data on therapeutic communication were collected using an observation sheet, while anxiety levels were measured using the DASS questionnaire (anxiety subscale). Data analysis was conducted using univariate and bivariate methods with the Chi-Square test at a significance level of 0.05. The results showed that most therapeutic communication was in the good category, and patient anxiety levels were predominantly in the normal category. Statistical test results indicated a significant relationship between nurses’ therapeutic communication and patient anxiety levels (p = 0.000 < 0.05). The better the therapeutic communication provided, the lower the patient’s anxiety level. In conclusion, nurses’ therapeutic communication plays an important role in reducing patient anxiety prior to meningitis vaccination and needs to be optimized in nursing practice.

This study aims to analyze the digital communication strategy implemented by the Jakarta Communication, Informatics, and Statistics Office (Diskominfotik) in the dissemination of public information through the @katakotajakarta Instagram account. The research method uses a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection techniques in the form of observation, interviews, and literature studies. The results of the study show that there is a shift in communication patterns from one direction to a more interactive two-way, characterized by the use of visual content, the use of casual language, and systematic content planning. The use of the Reels feature has proven to be effective in increasing audience reach, especially from non-followers. However, the challenges faced include fluctuations in engagement and the risk of information overload that can reduce the effectiveness of communication. This study concludes that adaptive and data-based digital communication strategies are able to increase the effectiveness of public communication and strengthen the relationship between the government and the community. These findings provide practical implications for the management of public communication in the digital era, especially in utilizing social media as an interactive means that support transparency and public participation.

The phenomenon of radical transparency in the Bottled Drinking Water (AMDK) industry in 2025 triggered a reputation crisis and a massive erosion of customer loyalty. This crisis began with negative sentiment on social media that led to surprise inspections by regulatory authorities of the industry leader's "Mountain Spring" claim. The unpreparedness of the communication infrastructure in presenting technical data in real time led to a decline in brand image and a significant correction in market share to a critical figure of 47.4%. This article aims to formulate a conceptual framework for adaptive and data-driven PR presentation techniques through the integration of real-time data visualization and narrative reframing strategies. The method used is a descriptive conceptual analysis by evaluating the chronology of incidents and PR responses during the crisis. The analysis results show that unidirectional communication patterns and static presentation materials are deemed to fail to face viral and spontaneous public audits in the digital space. As a theoretical and practical contribution, this article proposes a new model, The Spontaneous Technical Presentation Model, and recommendations for the development of a Crisis Presentation Kit for the FMCG industry. Through a theoretical approach that expands the theory of Image Restoration, this study confirms that corporate image restoration in the digital era is highly dependent on the precision and transparency of visual data presented during field qualification

This study aims to analyze the influence of effective communication on the emotional intelligence of early childhood. Effective communication is the process of conveying clear, empathetic, and responsive messages between educators or parents and children, which plays a crucial role in shaping children's abilities to recognize, understand, and manage emotions. Emotional intelligence is an essential aspect of child development because it supports social adaptation, self-regulation, and positive interpersonal relationships. The research method used was a quantitative approach with a correlational design. The subjects were early childhood education institutions attending early childhood education institutions, with data collection techniques through observation, questionnaires, and documentation. Data were analyzed using statistical procedures to determine the relationship between the variables studied. The results showed a significant influence between effective communication and children's emotional intelligence. Children who receive good communication tend to have higher empathy skills, are able to control their emotions, and establish positive social relationships. In addition, effective communication helps children express their feelings appropriately and develop self-confidence. Thus, effective communication is an important factor in the development of emotional intelligence in early childhood. This research is expected to serve as a reference for educators and parents in improving the quality of interactions with children and supporting optimal child development.

This study aims to determine the effect of product availability, communication effectiveness, and promotional strategy on sales volume at PT.Distribusindo Cemerlang Jaya, a cosmetic and skincare distribution company in Batam city. The background of this research is based on pre-survey result indicating suboptimal sales volume along with operational challenges including stock shortages, communicatiob gaps, and limited promotional activities.ths research employs a quantitative method. The population consist of all comsumers, with a sample of 43 respondent selected using a saturated sampling technique. Data were collected through questionnaires using a likert scale and analyzed using validity and reliability test, classical assumption tests, multiple linear regression, t-test, F-test, and coefficient of determination (R²) with SPSS. Result show that partially, product availability does not significantly affect sales volume (sig. 0,313 > 0,05), and communication effectiveness also does not significantly affect sales volume (sig. 0,898 > 0,05). However, promotional strategy has a positive and significant effect  on sales volume (sig, 0,000 < 0,05). Simultaneously, all three variables significantly affect sales volume (F = 212.642, sig. 0,000 < 0,05). The coefficient of determination (R²) is 0,942 indicating that 94,2% of the variation in sales volume is explained by the three independent variables. Promotional strategy is the most dominant factor influencing sales volume is explained by the three independent variables.
