Cancer remains a major challenge in modern medicine due to drug resistance and the adverse effects of conventional therapies, making it one of the leading causes of death worldwide. Continuous scientific efforts aim to discover safer and more effective treatments. Owing to their structural diversity, strong bioactivity, and relatively low toxicity, natural compounds show great promise as sources of anticancer drug candidates. This article aims to explore the role of medicinal chemistry in investigating, modifying, and optimizing natural bioactive compounds to develop more effective, selective, and stable anticancer agents with improved bioavailability. A narrative review was conducted using scientific literature published between 2020 and 2025 from PubMed, ScienceDirect, Google Scholar, and ResearchGate. The findings indicate that eugenol, berberine, hesperidin, piperine, and quercetin exhibit anticancer activities through apoptosis induction, inhibition of proliferation, and antioxidant and anti-inflammatory mechanisms. Modern medicinal chemistry relies on understanding structure–activity relationships (SAR), chemical modification, and nanoparticle formulation to enhance biological performance. In addition, in silico techniques such as molecular docking and QSAR analysis are applied to study ligands and receptors and predict bioavailability improvements. The development of natural products as rational, effective, and safe anticancer drug candidates is strengthened by integrating experimental, computational, and pharmaceutical approaches.

The Da’wah Institution of Nahdlatul Ulama (NU), as part of Indonesia's largest Islamic organization, faces challenges in adapting to social dynamics, the digital revolution, and the rise of radicalism. In an increasingly diverse and fast-changing society, NU must develop da’wah strategies that are not only moderate and contextual but also adaptable to contemporary shifts. This study aims to explore how NU's social construction of da’wah is structured epistemologically, ontologically, and strategically to strengthen Islam’s role as rahmatan lil 'alamin, promoting social harmony and national unity. The research adopts a multisite case study approach at the Da’wah Institution of the NU Executive Board, employing qualitative methods through document analysis and in-depth interviews. The findings indicate that NU’s da’wah social construction integrates three main dimensions. Epistemologically, NU’s da’wah is grounded in authentic and contextual knowledge, allowing the dissemination of Islamic values in a peaceful, moderate, and inclusive way. Ontologically, the Da’wah Institution acts not only as a formal structure but as a representation of Islam Nusantara, reinforcing Islamic and national identity within a unified da’wah narrative. Strategically, NU’s da’wah is designed to adapt to shifting social, cultural, and technological landscapes by emphasizing participatory methods, utilizing digital media, and incorporating local cultural elements. These three dimensions work together to form a da’wah model that is responsive to contemporary challenges while deeply rooted in the Ahlussunnah wal Jama’ah tradition.

Pine soda is a natural fermented liquid from pine needles (Pinus merkusii) which has a distinctive aroma and contains bioactive compounds with potential as antimicrobial agents. This study aims to determine the antibacterial activity of pine soda against Staphylococcus aureus using the disc diffusion method and to compare its effectiveness with the antibiotic ampicillin as a positive control. The process of making pine soda is carried out through simple fermentation of Pinus merkusii pine needles under certain conditions to produce a fragrant liquid. Furthermore, qualitative tests are carried out to identify the content of bioactive compounds, such as flavonoids, phenols, and essential oils, which are known to have antibacterial properties. In the antibacterial activity test, paper discs that have been soaked in pine soda solutions with graded concentrations (2%, 4%, 6%, 8%, and 10%) are placed on agar media that have been inoculated with S. aureus. The results of the observation showed the presence of inhibition zones in each treatment with varying sizes. The largest inhibition zone was obtained at a concentration of 10% with a diameter of 10 mm, which is included in the medium inhibition category. As a comparison, ampicillin produced an inhibition zone of 26.3 mm, while distilled water, the negative control, showed no inhibition zone. These findings indicate that the antibacterial activity of pine soda is influenced by its bioactive compound content, although its effectiveness is still lower than that of standard antibiotics. This potential opens up opportunities for developing pine soda as a safe natural antibacterial agent, whether in the form of health products such as antiseptics, natural cleaners, or functional beverages that support body health. Further research is needed to optimize the fermentation process, increase the concentration of active compounds, and test its effectiveness against various types of pathogenic bacteria.

Mathematics is a universal science that underlies the development of modern science and technology, and has an important role in the development of human thinking. Mathematics is a subject that is based on logical, rational, critical, and systematic thinking patterns. Religion and rationality are two perspectives that have a strong influence. Humans view religious values and rational values as different entities, causing a dichotomy paradigm, especially in the realm of education. In the perspective of the epistemology of science in Islam, Islam and science are complementary and interdependent entities. The mathematical approach used here does not mean that Islamic values are low, but only to increase the belief of Muslims that all knowledge is valuable and can lead to true goodness and increase faith and closeness to Allah SWT.To examine how Islamic values are applied in mathematics learning, To identify and develop effective strategies or methods in integrating Islamic values in mathematics learning materials, To measure the extent of the application of Islamic values in mathematics learning. This study uses a qualitative approach, while the type of research used by the researcher is descriptive research.Mathematics as a logical and systematic science, has a meeting point with Islamic teachings that emphasize truth, justice, and balance. For example, the concept of monotheism can be associated with the order of the universe expressed through mathematical formulas, fostering a sense of gratitude and obedience. The implementation of Islamic values that are rahmatan lil 'alamin (blessing for all nature) in mathematics learning, especially to form honest and fair characters in students.

Lip balm is a cosmetic product designed to protect and maintain the moisture of the lips, especially from environmental factors that can cause dry, cracked, or irritated lips, such as low temperatures and wind. Dry lips can interfere with comfort and appearance, making protection with lip balm essential. This study aims to formulate and evaluate a lip balm preparation made from a combination of natural and chemical ingredients, such as cera flava, oleum cacao, nipagin, glycerin, lanolin, and the addition of powder dye. These ingredients were chosen because of their ability to maintain lip moisture, provide protection against external factors, and ensure long-term safety for use. The lip balm manufacturing process begins with heating the primary ingredients, cera flava and oleum cacao, which are melted first. After the primary ingredients have melted, additional ingredients such as nipagin, glycerin, lanolin, and powder dye are added gradually. The mixture is stirred carefully to ensure that all ingredients are evenly blended. Once all the ingredients are well-mixed, the liquid mixture is poured into molds and allowed to cool and harden. This process is crucial for achieving the desired lip balm texture, which should not be too hard or too soft and should facilitate easy application to the lips. Based on the analysis results, the formulated lip balm demonstrates good physical stability, without significant changes in color, odor, or texture during testing. The lip balm also provides ease of use, with a smooth texture that is easy to apply to the lips. The results of this study show that the combination of ingredients used can produce an effective lip balm product that maintains lip moisture and provides optimal protection against harsh environmental conditions, such as low temperatures.
