Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) have a strategic contribution to economic equality and job creation, especially in rural areas. However, limitations in mastering digital technology, especially in marketing, are still a major challenge for MSMEs in Pepelegi Village, Sidoarjo. This community service activity aims to increase the digitalization capacity of MSMEs through training and mentoring in utilizing Google Maps as a promotional media. The method used in this study is Participatory Action Research (PAR), which includes observation, interviews, training, and evaluation. The location of the activity focused on the MSME Warkop Pojok SR in Pepelegi Village, involving the active participation of local business actors. The results of the activity showed an increase in participants' knowledge and skills in creating and managing business profiles on Google Maps. This has a positive impact on business visibility and the potential for increasing income. Digitalization through Google Maps not only makes it easier for consumers to find business locations, but also provides information regarding operating hours, customer reviews, and business contacts. Thus, this activity is expected to be a model for empowering MSMEs based on digital technology that can be replicated in other areas. The sustainability of the program can be strengthened through cross-sector collaboration to support the acceleration of MSME digital transformation.

Maternal and child health (MCH) is a priority in health development, especially in preventing pregnancy complications that may endanger the lives of both mothers and babies. One way to reduce these risks is through routine antenatal care and early detection of complications. However, in some areas, pregnant women still lack understanding of the importance of regular antenatal checks. This community service activity aims to increase pregnant women’s knowledge about the importance of antenatal care and early detection of pregnancy complications at Posyandu Ester 24, a working area of Puskesmas Dua Puluh Tiga Ilir, Palembang, conducted from December 1 to 6, 2024. The activity involved counseling, free antenatal care checks, and training for healthcare workers. The results showed an improvement in pregnant women’s understanding of pregnancy danger signs and the importance of routine healthcare. Antenatal care successfully detected several health risk factors, such as anemia and chronic energy deficiency (CED), allowing for early intervention. Although the main challenge was motivating pregnant women to attend routine checks, the activity successfully increased participation in antenatal care and health education. It is hoped that this activity can serve as a model for other maternal and child health programs in the future.

Iodine deficiency remains a major health issue, especially in highland regions like Cisukadana Village, leading to an increased risk of goiter that affects metabolism and growth. This study explores an alternative method to improve iodine intake through the use of factory ash waste in salted egg processing. Factory ash waste is known to contain microelements such as iodine, calcium, and magnesium, which can enhance the nutritional value of salted eggs. The research consisted of three stages: community counseling on iodine importance, practical training on making salted eggs using a salt and ash mixture, and product distribution for evaluation. Eggs were soaked in a brine solution mixed with ash waste for 8–10 days to ensure iodine absorption. The results showed that this method increased iodine content in the eggs, extended shelf life, and improved texture and taste. The program positively impacted the community in health (goiter prevention), social (community involvement and student participation), and economic (potential new business using local resources) aspects. This innovation demonstrates a sustainable approach to enhancing iodine intake while reducing industrial waste impact.

This research evaluates the implementation of public policies related to natural resource management in Makassar City, Indonesia. Using a qualitative case study approach, this study examines the effectiveness, challenges, and impacts of these policies on sustainable development practices. Data was collected through in-depth interviews with 25 key informants including government officials, resource managers, and affected community members, complemented by document analysis of policy papers and reports. The findings reveal significant gaps between policy formulation and implementation due to institutional fragmentation, limited community participation, and inadequate human resource capacity. While some policies have increased public awareness of conservation, others have failed to prevent environmental degradation, including water quality deterioration and deforestation. This study contributes to understanding the complex dynamics of natural resource governance in rapidly developing urban centers and offers practical recommendations for improving policy implementation through enhanced inter-agency coordination, meaningful community engagement, and capacity building initiatives.

This research examines the influence of development policies on community empowerment in rural areas. Using a mixed-methods approach combining quantitative surveys (n=400) across four diverse rural districts with qualitative interviews (n=40) and focus group discussions (n=12), the study identifies key factors affecting the success of empowerment programs. Findings reveal that community participation in planning phases and equitable access to resources (financial, informational, and material) are fundamental determinants of successful rural empowerment. The research demonstrates that development policies are most effective when they: (1) enable genuine participation beyond mere consultation, (2) build on existing community institutions, (3) address power imbalances within communities, and (4) provide appropriate external facilitation. Statistical analysis shows strong correlations between empowerment outcomes and participation in planning (β=0.73, p<0.001) and access to financial resources (β=0.68, p<0.001). This study contributes to the theoretical understanding of empowerment processes and practical knowledge for policymakers and practitioners seeking to design more effective community development interventions in rural contexts.
