Balinese langauge as a core element of Balinese culture, faces challenges amidst urbanization and globalization, particularly in Denpasar City. This study analyzes the implementation of Balinese language development policies based on regulations such as Bali Provincial Regulation No. 1 of 2018 and Bali Governor Regulation No. 80 of 2018. A descriptive qualitative approach is used through document analysis and literature review. The results demonstrate the success of programs such as Balinese Language Month in increasing community participation, although challenges such as declining language use among young people remain. The discussion emphasizes the need for digital and family integration for revitalization, with a focus on language maintenance aspects using Fishman's sociolinguistic theory that highlights intergenerational transmission and strengthening the domain of language use. The conclusion recommends strengthening policies for the sustainability of Balinese language, including a synergistic approach between the government, communities, and educational institutions. This study contributes to the understanding of regional language maintenance in urban contexts, with implications for national policy in Indonesia.

This study examines the role of Guidance and Counseling (BK) teachers in helping students face personal, social, academic, and career problems. Using qualitative descriptive methods through interviews, observations, and documentation, this study found that BK services were carried out routinely through classical guidance, group services, and individual counseling that focused on self-development, career exploration, bullying prevention, and exam readiness. The effectiveness of the service is also supported by a conducive BK environment and collaboration between subject teachers, parents, and external parties such as psychologists or related institutions. However, various obstacles are still found, such as a high ratio of counselors to students, changes in education policies that require rapid adaptation, limited support facilities, and generational differences between counselors and students that affect communication patterns. This research emphasizes the importance of improving the professionalism of BK teachers through continuous training and strengthening synergy between educators to realize effective, responsive, and oriented BK services that are oriented towards the development of students' character in a holistic and sustainable manner.

Learning assessment is a crucial element in the educational process that aims to measure how well students understand the material taught. The tools chosen for measurement have a significant influence on the validity and accuracy of the assessment results. At MAN 2 Bantul, educators generally use two types of measurement tools, namely multiple-choice tests and essay tests. This study aims to assess the effectiveness of essay tests in comparison with multiple-choice tests in assessing student learning achievement at MAN 2 Bantul, using the direct interview method. This study was conducted to gain insight into the views of teachers and students regarding the effectiveness of both types of tests in the educational evaluation process. Data were collected through direct interviews with teachers and students who had experience in using both types of measurement tools. Data analysis was obtained using a descriptive qualitative approach to explore their views and experiences regarding the accuracy and appropriateness of tests in assessing learning outcomes. The findings from the interviews showed that multiple-choice tests were considered more effective and practical in measuring student learning outcomes because they used the JMD (Jogja Madrasah Digital) application, which immediately displayed the scores. However, the teachers also agreed that essay tests provided a more comprehensive analysis of learning outcomes because they encouraged students to think critically. This study recommends the implementation of a combination of both types of exams to make learning evaluation more efficient.

This research explores how people use assertive speech acts in the comment section of a YouTube video titled “Democratic Candidates Debate: Education,” which was uploaded by ABC News. A qualitative method with content analysis is employed to examine how users share their thoughts, express agreement or disagreement, and participate in online discussions through assertive language. The data were collected from selected comments posted between 2019 and 2020, particularly those reacting to the candidates’ views on education. The analysis applies Searle’s speech act theory, focusing on seven types of assertive speech acts: claiming, stating, reporting, describing, informing, complaining, and concluding. A total of 24 assertive utterances were identified, with the following distribution: claiming (11), reporting (3), complaining (4), stating (2), informing (2), describing (1), and concluding (1). Among these, "claiming" appeared most frequently, indicating that many users shared strong opinions or support, especially for Andrew Yang’s stance on education. Overall, the findings suggest that YouTube serves not only as a platform for viewing content but also as a space where people actively engage in discussions, express their beliefs, and respond to public issues through language.

Here, it is examined how language is employed as a weapon on the internet by means of the illocutionary acts in Bhad Bhabie's 2023 diss track "Ms. Whitman." According to J.L. Austin's and John Searle's Speech Act Theory, the paper categorizes the lyrics of the song into the various kinds of illocutionary acts-assertives, directives, commissives, expressives, and declaratives to determine how word aggression is an instrument of cyberbullying. Through qualitative text analysis, the study reveals expressive and assertive acts most prominent in the lyrics to disseminate defamatory claims, insults, and emotional harm against the object of attack Alabama Barker. Commissive and directive acts, on the other hand, serve to threaten, command, and dominate. The analysis shows how these speech acts collectively construct a model of systematic online verbal attack under the guise of musical performance. The findings show how music culture will tend to normalize aggression, make boundaries between entertainment and harassment opaque, and place audiences' understanding of digital communication ethics. The conclusion synthesizes the recommendation of media education as a means to enable listeners to critically understand the linguistic power of such content.

This study delves into the linguistic and ideological dimensions of cyberbullying discourse directed at TikTok creator Putri Padang within the framework of Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA). In Indonesia’s digital landscape, TikTok has become one of the prominent platform for self-expression and cultural performance, yet it also serves as a site for public shaming and moral policing. Drawing on Fairclough’s (1995) three-dimensional model, this qualitative research analyzes fifty hate comments collected from several TikTok videos featuring Putri Padang to uncover how language reproduces power relations and cultural ideologies. The findings reveal that hate comments are not random acts of aggression but structured discursive practices characterized by repetition, labeling, and moral judgment. Linguistic strategies such as mockery, objectification, and intertextual humor—exemplified by terms like “muka kotak” and “Adudu”—function as mechanisms of symbolic domination, reinforcing gendered and regional hierarchies. Moreover, the comments often invoke patriarchal values and cultural authenticity to moral criticism, positioning the target as a violator of feminine and cultural norms. The research contributes to cyber-discourse studies by extending into multimodal contexts and emphasizing the need for culturally grounded approaches to online gender-based violence.

This research aims to describe the forms and functions of expressive speech acts found in the film “Perayaan Mati Rasa” by Umay Shahab. This film was chosen because it showcases various forms of emotional expression that reflect the reality of everyday communication. The method used is descriptive qualitative. The data, consisting of the characters' utterances in the film, were collected thru observation and note-taking techniques, then analyzed using Chaer's theory of speech acts. The research results indicate that there are six types of expressive speech acts in this film: expressing gratitude, apologizing, praising, showing sympathy, expressing anger/disappointment, and praying/hoping. Each type of speech act has a different social function, such as building emotional closeness, improving social relationships, expressing empathy, and affirming moral values in interactions between characters. This finding suggests that the film “Perayaan Mati Rasa” not only represents emotional conflict but also depicts the dynamics of human communication laden with social and psychological values. The results of this research are expected to serve as a reference in pragmatic studies and discourse analysis, particularly in the analysis of expressive speech acts in literary works or film media.

This study aims to describe the role of guidance and counseling (BK) services in supporting the development of students at SMAN 1 Lemahabang Karawang. The focus of the study includes four main areas: academic development, personal development, social development, and the development of students' potential. This study employs a qualitative descriptive approach with data collection techniques through observation and semi-structured interviews involving BK teachers and two twelfth-grade students. The results of the study show that BK services provide an important contribution to increasing learning motivation, discipline, and students' career planning. In addition, BK services also play a role in shaping character and social skills through an empathetic approach and collaboration with Islamic Religious Education teachers in the implementation of religious activities and moral guidance. Although there are still some students who have a less positive view of the guidance and counseling services, in general, they assess that the implementation of guidance and counseling services at SMAN 1 Lemahabang has been effective and has a positive impact on students' personal development.

This study aims to examine the implementation of guidance and counseling services at SMPIT Miftahul Falah Karawang, focusing on the counseling approaches applied and the challenges faced by counseling teachers during the process. The research employed a qualitative descriptive method using observation and interviews as data collection techniques. The results reveal that guidance and counseling services are carried out through a humanistic and persuasive approach grounded in Islamic values. The counseling teacher serves as a facilitator who understands students’ emotional conditions and guides them toward behavioral improvement based on awareness and responsibility. This approach creates a supportive environment that encourages openness and mutual trust between the teacher and students. Nevertheless, several challenges remain, including the limited number of counselors, students’ varying levels of openness, and insufficient coordination among teachers in addressing student issues. These findings highlight the importance of institutional support through the enhancement of human resources, continuous professional development, and stronger collaboration between counseling teachers and school administrators. Such efforts are expected to strengthen the role of guidance and counseling services as a medium for character education in accordance with Islamic principles.

This classroom action research (CAR) aims to improve students’ English-speaking skills in formal communication contexts. The study focuses on second-semester students of the Business and Professional Communication Study Program at Politeknik Negeri Madiun in the 2024/2025 academic year. The main problem addressed is the students’ low ability to speak English formally and fluently. The objective is to determine whether watching YouTube videos can enhance students’ formal speaking performance. The research employed both qualitative and quantitative methods. Qualitative data were obtained from students’ performance scores before and during the implementation, while quantitative data were gathered through observations, questionnaires, and interviews to compare pre-test and post-test results. The intervention used several active viewing techniques, including active viewing, freeze framing and prediction, silent viewing, and reproduction activity. The findings indicate a consistent improvement in students’ speaking abilities across all research cycles. The average scores increased from 61.1 in the pre-test, to 63.6 in post-test Cycle I, 66.6 in Cycle II, and 70.0 in Cycle III. These results demonstrate that integrating YouTube videos with active viewing techniques effectively enhances students’ formal speaking competence. In conclusion, the use of interactive video-based learning can significantly support the development of English-speaking skills in formal contexts for vocational students.

The Interpersonal and Communication Skills course plays an important role in equipping elementary teacher education (PGSD) students with the ability to build positive relationships, understand others’ feelings, and communicate information effectively. These skills are believed to influence success in the Guidance and Counseling course, which requires students to understand socio-emotional dynamics and analyze problems based on theory. This study aims to determine the relationship between the final grades of the Interpersonal and Communication Skills course and the Guidance and Counseling course among PGSD students. This research employed a quantitative correlational approach. The sample consisted of 28 PGSD students from the University of Riau, class of 2023, group B, who had completed both courses in the fourth semester. Data were obtained from the final grades of both courses and analyzed using the Spearman Rank correlation test. The results showed a correlation coefficient of 0.146 with a Sig. (2-tailed) value of 0.458 (p > 0.05). These findings indicate that there is no significant relationship between the two variables. The results suggest that students’ academic achievement in the Guidance and Counseling course is more strongly influenced by theoretical mastery and analytical skills rather than differences in grades in the Interpersonal and Communication Skills course.

This study aims to examine how commitment, academic, and well-being factors influence the attitudes of Primary School Teacher Education (PGSD) students toward the teaching profession. The teaching profession plays a significant role in improving the quality of education in Indonesia, yet it is often perceived as less promising due to low welfare and heavy workloads. This research employed a descriptive quantitative method involving 30 PGSD students as respondents. Data were collected through a Likert-scale questionnaire distributed online via Google Form. The results show that most students have a positive attitude toward the teaching profession, with 37% in the moderate category, 33% in the high category, and 27% in the low category. In terms of specific factors, student commitment to the teaching profession mostly falls into the moderate category (53%), academic factors tend to be high (40%), while perceptions of teacher welfare are generally moderate to low (77%). These findings indicate that PGSD students generally have good appreciation and academic readiness for the teaching profession; however, their commitment remains unstable due to low welfare perceptions and limited social recognition. Efforts to improve teacher welfare and strengthen professional values through the curriculum are needed to foster students’ commitment and pride in pursuing a career as teachers.

This study examines the influence of Instagram on college students' lifestyles, focusing on the discrepancy between reality and expectations formed on social media. Instagram has become an important part of college students' lives, not only as a means of communication but also as a medium for constructing self-identity and social image. Through photo and video uploads, many students strive to project an ideal life filled with happiness and success, although this does not always align with reality. This phenomenon gives rise to social pressure, self-dissatisfaction, and a tendency towards a consumerist lifestyle driven by the desire to conform to popular trends. However, Instagram also has a positive side. If used wisely, this medium can be a source of inspiration, learning, and creativity development for students. Therefore, Instagram's influence on college students' lifestyles is largely determined by the user's level of awareness and maturity in balancing the virtual world and real life.

The form of historicization in literary criminology views criminality as the result of power relations, unequal social structures, and history. Criminal acts in historicization are always placed in a specific time and place context, tracing how a behavior is considered “criminal” or “against the law” depending on the historical construction formed by the legal system, the state, and the rulers. Historicization also reveals that what is referred to as crime is not absolute, but can change according to historical developments and power struggles. The purpose of this study is to describe the form of criminalization in the novel Lampuki, which is not merely an individual deviant act, but a reflection of historical trauma and a flawed social structure. The approach used is literary sociology. This study uses a descriptive-qualitative method with reading and note-taking techniques obtained from the novel Lampuki by Arafat Nur in the form of sentences and paragraphs. The results of the study show that there are seven data points that fall under the form of criminalization of history. From the seven data points, three findings were generalized and discovered in Arafat Nur novel Lampuki, namely: (1) transgenerational trauma of violence, (2) the destruction of the socio-cultural structure, and (3) dark figure of crime.

The digital era has transformed communication patterns among millennials and Gen Z in Indonesia. This study analyzes the phenomenon of code-mixing and code-switching on social media among students at STIE Balikpapan as representatives of the digital generation in a multiethnic environment. Employing a qualitative method with a virtual ethnography approach, data were collected through six months of virtual participant observation and systematic digital documentation across multiple social media platforms. The findings reveal that code-mixing predominantly occurs in intra-sentential and intra-lexical forms, while code-switching takes inter-sentential forms according to communication contexts. The primary factors driving mixed language use are social identity, communication efficiency, and audience adaptation. Balikpapan's multiethnic context enriches these practices through interactions among Indonesian, regional languages, and English. These findings contribute to the field of digital sociolinguistics and serve as a reference for language learning in higher education institutions and the development of Indonesian language policies.

This research is motivated by the low quality of learning in various educational units, one of the causes of which is the gap between curriculum design and classroom implementation. A good curriculum will not have a significant impact without effective implementation by teachers. Therefore, curriculum implementation plays a strategic role as a link between macro-level education policies and classroom learning practices. This study aims to analyze the impact of curriculum implementation on learning quality, identify supporting and inhibiting factors, and formulate strategies to strengthen learning quality. The method used is descriptive qualitative, using observation, interviews, and documentation techniques with teachers, principals, and elementary school students. The results show that the implementation of a flexible curriculum, such as the Independent Curriculum, encourages a shift from teacher-centered to student-centered learning, which increases student motivation and engagement through project-based learning and authentic assessment. However, teacher preparedness, limited infrastructure, and administrative burdens remain major obstacles. Authentic assessment has been shown to improve students' critical thinking skills and creativity, but requires consistent managerial support. The implication is that improving the quality of learning must be accompanied by strengthening teacher competency, the availability of resources, and adaptive school management so that curriculum transformation has a real impact on the quality of national education

This study aims to examine the effectiveness of implementing a descriptive writing learning model based on digital literacy and local wisdom in improving writing skills, learning motivation, and cultural character among junior high school students. Employing a descriptive qualitative approach with a case study design, the research was conducted at SMP Negeri 2 Kroya, Cilacap Regency, during the 2025–2026 academic year. Data were collected through participatory observation, in-depth interviews, and document analysis, and were subsequently analyzed using the interactive model developed by Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña. The findings indicate that the application of this model effectively enhances students’ writing abilities in terms of content, structure, language style, and digital literacy ethics. The integration of digital technology fosters the development of cognitive, technical, and social literacy, while the reinforcement of local wisdom cultivates cultural awareness, regional identity pride, and reflective thinking skills. Writing activities evolved into collaborative and creative processes that combine cultural exploration with the ethical use of digital technology. From a pedagogical perspective, this model aligns with the principles of deep learning promoted by the Kurikulum Merdeka and contributes to strengthening the Eight Dimensions of Graduate Competencies, particularly in critical reasoning and problem-solving, creativity and innovation, collaboration and mutual cooperation, as well as the development of the Pancasila student profile and global citizenship. Therefore, the descriptive writing learning model based on digital literacy and local wisdom can be regarded as an innovative strategy in Indonesian language education to realize a contextual, reflective, creative, and culturally grounded learning process.

Ecofeminism encompasses a broader perspective, linking environmental issues with social issues. Previous research has shown that environmental discourse generated by various actors, including the government, NGOs, and the media, plays a significant role in shaping public awareness and behavior. However, the phenomenon of women often being excluded from decision-making regarding environmental policies requires special attention. In this digital era, women can share stories, adaptation strategies, and sustainable practices in addressing environmental issues through various platforms. This study aims to analyze the ideology of the women's community embodied in eco-discourse on the Modern Women Bali magazine. The research method applied is a qualitative method with data in the form of eco-discourse on the Modern Women Bali magazine. Results show that the ideologies of ecofeminism found in the media include women’s environmental care, women’s support for local sustainability, women’s role as guardian of nature, and women’s growth through nature.
