Ketoprak as a form of traditional Javanese theater has the characteristics of historical storytelling or legend supported by artistic elements such as music, dialogue, clothing, and stage settings. In its development towards a modern form of ketoprak, the use of multimedia technology has become one of the significant innovations, especially in the creation of performance settings. This article examines in depth the function of multimedia in supporting the creation of modern ketoprak settings, both from aesthetic, dramatic, and production efficiency aspects. This study uses a qualitative descriptive method with data collection through observation of ketoprak performances that integrate multimedia, in-depth interviews with directors, artistic stylists, and multimedia technicians, and literature studies that discuss contemporary performing arts. The results of the study show that multimedia plays an important role in building richer imaginative atmospheres and spaces and allows for the depiction of complex settings such as palaces, forests, or battlefields quickly and effectively. In addition, multimedia expands visual possibilities through projection of images, videos, and dynamic light effects that cannot be achieved with traditional physical properties alone. The multimedia function has also been proven to enhance the viewer experience by presenting a more modern visual sensation without losing the traditional identity of ketoprak. These findings indicate that multimedia serves not only as a complement, but also as an integral element that influences the overall aesthetic, reinforces dramatic messages, and facilitates transitions between scenes.

This study discusses the architectural transformation of Pasar Johar Semarang before and after the major fire incident in 2015. Designed by architect Thomas Karsten, Pasar Johar holds significant historical and architectural values. The fire prompted a comprehensive revitalization of the market’s environment, site, and building while maintaining its original character. This research employs an architectural anatomy approach covering three main scopes: environment, site, and building, and uses a qualitative descriptive-analytical method through four stages: (1) documenting conditions before and after the fire, (2) classifying architectural elements, (3) comparing visual and structural transformations, and (4) drawing conclusions based on the analysis to evaluate the extent of the transformation. The results show that the revitalization made the area more organized, functional, and sustainable. Distinctive structures such as mushroom columns and drainage systems were preserved, while zoning and public spaces were reorganized to improve efficiency and comfort. This restoration not only improved physical aspects but also strengthened the market’s social function as a community interaction space. Pasar Johar now serves as an example of a traditional market that can adapt to modern urban challenges without losing its architectural identity and its potential as a sustainable economic and social hub.

The era of digital transformation demands that the younger generation acquire technology-based entrepreneurship skills, or technopreneurship. However, in the context of Vocational High Schools (SMK), many students still lack understanding and skills in developing structured and applicable business models. This Community Service Program (PKM) was carried out to address this challenge, particularly at SMK Negeri 1 Mengwi, Badung, Bali, by leveraging local potential such as tourism and traditional culinary products. The training program focused on the use of the Business Model Canvas (BMC) as a visual tool for business planning, alongside the introduction of trending technologies such as digital marketing. The activities were implemented in four stages: pre-test, socialization, intensive training, business idea presentation, and post-test evaluation and reflection. A total of 36 students participated in this program. The results of the pre-test and post-test showed an increase in understanding of 53.85% in the aspect of technopreneurship and 58.33% in understanding the elements of the BMC. These findings indicate that practical and visual-based approaches are effective in fostering students’ strategic thinking, collaboration, and creativity in developing business ideas based on local potential and technology. The use of digital media as a medium to communicate social messages is increasingly widespread, including in environmental conservation campaigns. One of the platforms used is YouTube, which allows messages to be delivered through a visual and narrative approach. However, not all content produced is able to present emotional impacts and environmental awareness effectively. The strategy for delivering messages is an important factor, especially through literary and visual expressions that can build emotional closeness with the audience. The Rekam Nusantara YouTube channel is an interesting example to study because it combines literary and visual elements in conveying the message of an environmental cleanliness campaign. This study aims to analyze the forms of literary and visual expressions used in the channel and how effective they are in building audience awareness. This study uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive method, which systematically describes the characteristics of the content based on the data analyzed. Data were obtained through literature studies and analysis of video content published by the Rekam Nusantara channel. The results of the study show that this channel utilizes literary elements in the form of poetic narratives and a cinematic visual approach to move the emotions of the audience. However, the effectiveness of the campaign can still be improved by adjusting the theme to the local context and a more specific audience profile. These findings underscore the importance of a relevant and touching narrative-based content strategy to optimize the role of digital media in social and environmental campai.

Regian Music is a music service provider company established in 2021 and has been operating in the regions of Cirebon, Indramayu, Majalengka, and Kuningan, contributing to various events including parties. The Regian Music band has the potential to emphasize professionalism, but it faces challenges with its visual logo element. The current logo of Regian Music does not yet represent the band's vision and mission. In the old logo, there is inconsistency in the use of elements, typography, and colors. There is also a "Canva" watermark in the center of the logo, which detracts from its professionalism in a visual context. Therefore, a logo redesign is necessary to better reflect the characteristics of the Regian Music band. The logo redesign process follows the Brand Identity design method (Alina Wheeler, 2013). The new logo is created with a music theme and minimalist design style, using a combination of red, black, and white colors, as well as incorporating Japanese element concepts.

This study analyzes the use of symbols in the animated film Wall-E, directed by Andrew Stanton, which conveys environmental and social issues through a semiotic lens. The research applies a descriptive qualitative method, focusing on the interpretation of signs and meanings embedded within the film’s visual elements and narrative structure. The aim is to explore how symbolic representations contribute to the film’s critique of human behavior and modern lifestyles. The findings identify several key symbols used throughout the film. The barren, deserted Earth serves as a metaphor for environmental destruction caused by human greed and overconsumption. Wall-E, the main character, symbolizes resilience and hope amidst ecological collapse. A small green plant becomes a central symbol of renewal and the possibility of life returning to Earth. The spaceship Axiom represents a society dominated by extreme consumerism, where humans have become passive, dependent, and physically detached from nature. Additionally, the depiction of human interactions—or the lack thereof—illustrates the theme of social alienation driven by overreliance on technology. These symbols collectively function as a powerful critique of unsustainable living patterns, warning audiences of the consequences of neglecting environmental responsibility. Furthermore, the film emphasizes the need for balance between technological advancement and ecological awareness. In conclusion, this research highlights the effectiveness of animated films like Wall-E in delivering social and environmental messages. It suggests that cinema can be a potent medium for raising awareness, fostering critical thinking, and educating audiences about the importance of sustainability and human connection in the face of modern challenges.

This study aims to analyze the design of Indonesian horror film posters through Pierre Bourdieu's sociological lens. The main focus of the study is to understand how the visual elements in the poster reflect the social dynamics, culture, and structure of the film industry. By using the concepts of habitus, capital (cultural, symbolic, economic), field, doxa, and social reproduction, this study reveals that the design of horror film posters not only functions as a promotional tool, but also as a medium that reproduces local cultural values and community beliefs about the supernatural world. Elements such as traditional ghosts such as genderuwo, kuntilanak and mystical symbols such as keris, offerings, then there are dark colors, and a scary atmosphere reflect the habits of audiences who are familiar with local myths. This study also shows that horror film posters reproduce stereotypes about the relationship between humans and the supernatural world, and strengthen the hierarchy of spiritual power through visual symbols. These findings confirm the relevance of Bourdieu's theory in understanding cultural phenomena through visual media. This study is expected to provide new insights for filmmakers, graphic designers, and students in understanding the interaction between culture, aesthetics, and the film industry.

The creation of batik outerwear combines three techniques: hand-drawn batik (batik tulis), shibori, and ecoprint, to produce designs that are both functional and aesthetically rich, while promoting local cultural identity. The process follows the Art Creation Methodology, consisting of four stages: exploration, experimentation, realization, and evaluation. In the exploration phase, the techniques used are studied, and how their combination can create unique motifs. This phase also includes an in-depth understanding of the history and philosophy of each technique, ensuring a strong foundation for their application in the design of the outerwear. In the experimentation phase, various patterns, colors, and compositions are tested to determine the best combination of the three techniques. This stage involves creating several design samples to test the harmony between hand-drawn batik, the visually appealing folds of shibori, and the natural impressions left by ecoprint leaves. Then, in the realization stage, the batik outerwear is completed by integrating these elements into a cohesive design. The techniques of batik tulis, shibori, and ecoprint work together to create rich textures and motifs. In the evaluation phase, the aesthetic and functional quality of the final product is assessed. The final result demonstrates that combining these techniques not only creates unique designs but also adds value in terms of beauty and sustainability, while supporting the preservation of local culture through innovation in batik art.
