JURNAL EKONOMI BISNIS DAN MANAJEMEN (JISE) 2026 CV. ALIM'SPUBLISHING

This study investigates the role of Baitul Maal wa Tamwil (BMT) in empowering Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) through the integration of Maqashid Sharia principles and financial inclusion strategies. Despite the strategic importance of MSMEs in economic growth and poverty reduction, many face challenges in accessing formal financial services. BMT, with its dual function of social (maal) and commercial (tamwil) activities, offers a unique platform to bridge this gap. Using a qualitative systematic literature review guided by PRISMA, this study analyzes 30 relevant articles to examine BMT operational models, implementation of Maqashid Sharia objectives, financial inclusion practices, and their impact on MSME performance. Findings indicate that BMT effectively supports MSMEs in capital access, income generation, and business resilience, but inconsistencies in balancing social and commercial objectives limit. holistic empowerment. Integrating Maqashid Sharia principles enhances ethical and sustainable outcomes, while financial inclusion expands outreach to underserved entrepreneurs. Optimization strategies, including strengthening institutional capacity, combining financial and non-financial support, and context-specific interventions, are essential for maximizing BMT effectiveness. This study contributes a comprehensive framework linking ethical, financial, and empowerment dimensions, offering practical guidance for policymakers and BMT managers in promoting inclusive and sustainable MSME development.

Data validity was ensured through source and method triangulation. The findings indicate that MSME customers generally hold a positive perception of sharia financing. It is perceived as offering easy procedures, good service quality, and compliance with Islamic principles, thereby supporting capital increase and business sustainability. Perceptions are influenced by internal factors such as business experience and motivation, as well as external factors including market conditions and competition. Furthermore, customers' perceptions tend to become progressively more positive as their experience with receiving financing increases. The significant role of interpersonal service quality and mentoring in shaping positive perceptions is a key finding. In conclusion, sharia financing at BMT NU Ngoro Regional Office plays a vital role in supporting MSME business sustainability. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of corporate zakat management in reducing economic inequality from the perspective of muamalah. The research employs a library research method with a qualitative-descriptive approach by examining various literature sources, empirical data, and regulations related to corporate zakat in Indonesia. The findings reveal that corporate zakat management achieves optimal effectiveness when zakat funds are distributed through a productive zakat scheme. This scheme is implemented through six main stages: preliminary surveys of beneficiaries, regular assistance, provision of business capital, business partner guidance, motivational training, and periodic evaluations of beneficiaries’ business development. However, practical implementation still faces several challenges. The allocation of funds for business capital among economically disadvantaged communities has only reached approximately 0.4%, while the majority of zakat funds, around 97.1%, are still utilized for consumptive assistance. This condition indicates that the economic empowerment function of zakat has not yet been fully optimized. Therefore, integrative solutions are required, including institutional strengthening through the establishment of Islamic microfinance units such as Baitul Maal wat Tamwil (BMT) internally, as well as stronger government regulations through tax deductible incentive policies externally to support the sustainable optimization of corporate zakat distribution.

This study aims to analyze the understanding of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Harjosari II Village regarding Islamic financial inclusion and its contribution to expanding access to business capital financing. Although the national financial inclusion index continues to increase, the implementation of Islamic financial inclusion still faces challenges at the grassroots level. This research used a descriptive qualitative method with data collection techniques consisting of observation, documentation, and in-depth interviews with MSME owners in Harjosari II Village and staff from KSPPS & BMT Syariah Sejahtera (SS) Medan. The findings show that MSME owners’ understanding of Islamic financial inclusion is influenced by religiosity and the perception of justice through the profit-sharing system. Islamic financial inclusion is implemented through a kinship approach and simplified administrative procedures for the informal sector. However, the main obstacles to expanding financing access include limited Islamic financial literacy, restricted financing ceilings, and entrepreneurs’ lack of confidence in formal banking procedures. Islamic financing contributes to increasing production capacity and providing spiritual peace of mind by offering capital alternatives free from usury (riba). This study recommends strengthening direct technical socialization and implementing more flexible financing ceiling policies to support MSME growth in suburban areas.

This study aims to analyze the implementation of problematic murabahah financing settlement at KSPPS BMT Huwaiza Depok and assess its compliance with the DSN-MUI Fatwa Number 47 and 48 of 2005. The approach used is descriptive qualitative with the type of normative-empirical Islamic law research. Data were obtained through interviews, observations, and documentation, which were then analyzed descriptively comparatively between field practices and the provisions of the fatwa. The results of the study indicate that the settlement of problematic financing is carried out in stages, starting with a persuasive approach, issuing warning letters, to restructuring through rescheduling and collateral sales. The rescheduling practice is carried out without increasing the amount of debt, only adjusting the payment period, while collateral sales are carried out based on market prices with the principle of justice. In conclusion, the implementation of problematic murabahah financing settlement at KSPPS BMT Huwaiza is in accordance with sharia principles and the DSN-MUI Fatwa, although the sharia arbitration mechanism has not been implemented.

This study analyzes the application of good governance principles in the context of Islamic financial service management at Baitul Maal wat Tamwil (BMT) Islam Berdaya Mandiri Kaitakan. This study uses a qualitative approach with a case study method, collecting data through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and analysis of internal documents. The results of the study show that the five principles of good governance transparency, accountability, responsibility, independence, and fairness have been adequately implemented, albeit with varying degrees of depth. Transparency is realized through routine financial reporting at the Annual Member Meeting, although access to daily information is still limited. Accountability is maintained through internal and external oversight mechanisms from the Cooperative Office, although independent external audits have not been carried out routinely. The institution's responsibility is reflected in its sharia compliance, which is supervised by the Sharia Supervisory Board, and the accuracy of its financial reporting. Independence is realized through a deliberative decision-making process, while fairness is applied in the form of non-discriminatory services and the distribution of financing based on field verification. The findings reveal that the main challenges lie in the digitization of information systems and limited resources for external audits. Overall, the implementation of good governance at BMT has created a governance foundation that is in line with sharia principles and modern public administration values, with room for improvement mainly in the optimization of information technology and institutional capacity building.

This study aims to determine the effect of service quality and promotion on members' saving decisions at BMT Fajar Bina Sejahtera Metro Branch. This research uses a quantitative approach with data collection through questionnaires given to 98 respondents, selected using purposive sampling technique. Data analysis was conducted using multiple linear regression with the help of SPSS software. The results show that both service quality and promotion have a positive and significant effect on saving decisions, both partially and simultaneously. However, service quality has a more dominant influence compared to promotion. The coefficient of determination (Adjusted R²) indicates that 32.4% of the variation in saving decisions can be explained by these two independent variables. Therefore, BMT Fajar Bina Sejahtera needs to continuously improve service quality and design more effective promotional strategies to attract and retain members to be more active in saving. This research provides important insights for BMT management in formulating more precise policies to enhance members' saving decisions.

The development of digital technology has driven the transformation of financial services, including in Islamic microfinance institutions. One form of innovation is the implementation of mobile banking services, which aims to improve transaction efficiency and digital financial literacy among the public. This study aims to analyze customer perceptions of the Mobile UGT service program at BMT UGT Nusantara Labang Branch and its role in improving digital financial literacy among the public. This study uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive method. Data was collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation of five active customers who have used the Mobile UGT service. The results show that customers generally have a positive perception of the Mobile UGT service. The application is considered easy to use, practical, and able to facilitate various financial transactions such as checking balances, transferring funds, and making payments, without having to come directly to the BMT office. In addition to increasing transaction efficiency, the use of Mobile UGT also contributes to improving customers' digital financial literacy, as reflected in their increased understanding of income and expenditure management, budget planning, utilization of digital transaction features, and awareness of data and account security. However, this study also found several obstacles, mainly related to technical disruptions to the application and internet network limitations. Overall, the Mobile UGT service plays an important role in supporting customers' financial independence and digital financial inclusion. This study recommends strengthening technological infrastructure and continuing education programs to optimize the benefits of digital financial services in the BMT environment.

Baitul Maal wat Tamwil (BMT) is an Islamic microfinance institution that plays an essential role in expanding financial access for low-income communities and supporting sustainable economic development. This article aims to analyze the role of BMT as an inclusive monetary instrument within the framework of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The study employs a library research approach with descriptive-analytical methods based on secondary data from books, academic journals, research reports, and official documents. The findings show that BMT significantly contributes to financial inclusion through real-sector-based Islamic financing, especially for micro-enterprises and low-income households. Moreover, BMT’s social function—realized through the management of zakat, infaq, and sadaqah—strengthens income redistribution, poverty alleviation, and community welfare. BMT supports several SDG targets, particularly in reducing poverty, creating decent employment, developing MSMEs, and minimizing socioeconomic inequality. However, the optimization of BMT’s role still faces challenges such as limited capital, governance constraints, digital transformation, and institutional strengthening. Therefore, synergy between BMT, the government, regulators, and the community is needed to enhance BMT’s contribution as an inclusive, sustainable, and Sharia-compliant economic development agent.

This study aims to examine the implementation of Qardhul Hasan in Islamic Microfinance Institutions (Baitul Maal wat Tamwil – BMT) in Indonesia through the perspective of qard and ‘Ariyah contracts. The research applies a qualitative descriptive approach using a library research method. Data were collected from scholarly articles, books, and Islamic finance regulations, then analyzed to assess the alignment between fiqh al-mu‘āmalah principles and real-world practices. The findings reveal that qardhul hasan plays a vital role in community empowerment and in promoting Islamic financial inclusion. However, its implementation still faces several obstacles, including high non-performing financing rates, limited social funds, weak sharia supervision standards, and low literacy in fiqh mu‘āmalah among BMT managers. On the other hand, there are significant opportunities for development through digital transformation, human resource capacity building, optimization of social funds (ZISWAF), and the strengthening of regulations based on maqāṣid al-sharī‘ah. This study proposes an integrative model combining qard and ‘ariyah contracts as an alternative approach to enhance the social function of BMTs while maintaining financial sustainability.

This study aims to analyze the factors influencing members’ decisions to take murabahah financing at BMT Mentari Umat Wangon. The research employed a quantitative approach with descriptive and verification methods. The population consisted of active members using murabahah financing, selected through purposive sampling. Independent variables included service quality, knowledge of Islamic products, trust, location, promotion, profit margin, and financing procedures, while the dependent variable was the members’ financing decision. Data were analyzed using multiple linear regression after validity, reliability, and classical assumption tests. The results show that service quality, Islamic product knowledge, trust, profit margin, and financing procedures significantly affect members’ decisions, whereas location and promotion have no significant effect. The most dominant factors are service quality and institutional trust. These findings support the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB), which emphasizes that attitudes, trust, and perceived control are key determinants of financial decision-making. The study implies that BMT should enhance service quality, strengthen financial literacy related to Islamic products, and develop digital-based service systems to improve efficiency and competitiveness.

This study examines how Baitul Maal wat Tamwil (BMT) resolves financing disputes internally. Employing a qualitative approach with library research, the study draws on scholarly articles, books, and related documents. Data were analyzed descriptively and qualitatively to identify common internal settlement practices that align with Sharia principles and national law. Results indicate that BMTs typically use deliberation among parties, mediation involving management or the Sharia Supervisory Board, and restructuring of financing as primary means to resolve conflicts. These options are favored to preserve institutional-member relationships and reduce adverse financial and social consequences. When internal measures do not succeed, disputes may be referred to Sharia arbitration or to religious courts. The findings highlight the importance of blending Sharia values with positive legal frameworks to ensure dispute resolution is fair, efficient, and sustainable.

The development of digital technology provides significant opportunities for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) to improve the quality of their product promotions. However, most MSMEs fostered by Sharia cooperatives still face obstacles in utilizing the latest technology, particularly artificial intelligence (AI), as an effective and efficient promotional tool. Given this situation, this community service activity was carried out with the aim of increasing the capacity of MSME members in utilizing AI technology to create more attractive product promotional content that aligns with digital marketing trends. The activity took place at Kedai Fatiya Sukodono in July 2025, coinciding with the BMT Insan Mandiri Sukodono Branch member gathering. The methods used included counseling on the importance of AI-based digital marketing, technical training on using AI applications for content design, and hands-on practice in creating promotional materials by participants. A total of 40 MSMEs from various sectors, such as culinary, fashion, and services, participated in this activity. The results showed an increase in participants' knowledge and skills in creating more creative, professional, and cost-effective promotional content.
