Assessment practices in Indonesian language learning at vocational high schools are still predominantly oriented toward written tests and cognitive achievement, resulting in limited measurement of communicative competence, language politeness, and self-control. This condition is not fully aligned with the characteristics of vocational education, which prepares students to meet workplace demands through professional communication skills and strong personal character. This study aims to develop an integrative authentic assessment model based on language politeness and self-control in Indonesian language learning at vocational high schools. The study employed a qualitative approach using library research by analyzing 16 relevant references consisting of journal articles, policy documents, and supporting academic sources. Data were analyzed through identification, classification, comparison, interpretation, and conceptual synthesis. The findings reveal that the proposed model should integrate four principal dimensions: linguistic knowledge, language skills, language politeness, and self-control. The model may be implemented through contextual assessment tasks such as presentations, job interview simulations, customer service practices, digital portfolios, peer assessment, and reflective evaluation. This model offers a more comprehensive assessment framework and may serve as a practical guideline for teachers in evaluating students’ academic competence, communication ethics, and work readiness. The study contributes to the development of character-based assessment innovation in vocational education..

Expressive short story reading instruction requires both verbal and nonverbal skills so that students can convey the story’s content in a communicative and meaningful way. However, the instructional models currently in use tend to focus on only one aspect, resulting in suboptimal development of oral expression. This study aims to describe the innovative design of the Story Physical Expression (SPE) learning model for expressive short story reading instruction. The study employs a library research method with a qualitative descriptive approach. Data were obtained from various books, scientific articles, and relevant research findings, then analyzed using content analysis techniques. The results indicate that the SPE model was developed through the reconstruction of the storytelling and Total Physical Response (TPR) models by integrating verbal and nonverbal skills into a single learning sequence. This model consists of seven components: stimulation and motivation, story reading examples, exploration of physical expression, guided expression practice, story performance, feedback and reflection, and evaluation and reinforcement. The novelty of the SPE model lies in the integration of story immersion, intonation, pronunciation, facial expressions, gestures, and body movements in the expressive learning of short stories. The SPE model serves as an alternative instructional model that can be used to develop students’ oral expression skills in Indonesian language learning.

Arabic language instruction in various educational institutions today is still dominated by the structuralist paradigm, which emphasizes the mechanical memorization of patterns and repetition without addressing aspects of linguistic creativity. This study aims to explore the essence of Generative-Transformational Linguistic Theory proposed by Noam Chomsky and to formulate innovative ways to implement it in Arabic language learning. The approach taken in this study is qualitative, specifically a literature review (library research). Data were collected through primary and secondary literature, which were then examined using content analysis methods through the steps of simplification., categorization, and interpretation. The research findings indicate that Generative-Transformative Theory shifts the focus of learning from imitation to creation through the use of the Language Acquisition Device (LAD). Through the dichotomy of deep structure and surface structure, students are guided to perform various transformational operations such as substitution (al-ibdal), expansion (al-ittisa’), elision (al-hadzf), and addition (al-ziyadah). This principle is also found to align with the classical linguist Ibn Jinni’s thoughts on the concepts of Asl and Furu’. This research suggests that teachers of grammar and word structure should change how they teach strategies into a cognitive-creative process that enables students to independently and authentically generate an unlimited number of new utterances.

The rapid development of social media in the digital era brings both positive and negative impacts on society. One of the most concerning negative impacts is the widespread dissemination of hoaxes or false information that threatens social stability, religious harmony, and national security. Indonesia, as one of the largest social media user countries in the world, faces serious challenges in addressing this issue. This study aims to examine the role of digital literacy in countering the spread of hoaxes on social media from the perspective of Islamic values. The method used is a library research with a descriptive qualitative approach, drawing from the Qur’an, hadith, scientific journals, and relevant national and international literature. The findings indicate that good digital literacy, encompassing the ability to identify, verify, and critically filter information, is aligned with Islamic principles such as tabayyun (clarification), amar ma’ruf nahi munkar (enjoining good and forbidding evil), and the prohibition of spreading false information (slander). Islam firmly encourages its followers to be critical, selective, and responsible in receiving and disseminating information. The integration of Islamic values with digital literacy competencies can shape individuals who are not only technologically intelligent but also morally upright in the digital space. Therefore, the internalization of Islamic values in digital literacy practice is an effective and holistic strategy in minimizing the spread of hoaxes on social media.

Dependence on social media among students has become a phenomenon that negatively impacts their critical thinking abilities, including difficulties in analyzing information, evaluating sources, and drawing logical conclusions. This study aims to examine contextual learning strategies as an effort to overcome the decline in critical thinking skills caused by social media dependence. The method used is a library research approach by reviewing various scientific sources such as books, journals, and previous studies relevant to contextual learning and critical thinking. The results of the study indicate that contextual learning can improve students’ critical thinking skills by linking learning materials to real-life situations, using authentic problems, and encouraging active student involvement in the learning process. This strategy promotes students to become more reflective, analytical, and independent in responding to information, including content obtained from social media. In addition, contextual learning helps students develop the ability to filter information and build deeper understanding. The implication of this study suggests that the consistent implementation of contextual learning strategies can serve as an effective solution to enhance students’ critical thinking skills and reduce the negative effects of social media dependence in the learning process.

This study uses a qualitative library method aimed at analyzing the use of slang from a semiotic perspective among elementary school students and its implications for Indonesian language learning. The slang frequently used by students has certain symbols, meanings, and signs that reflect group identity, social dynamics, and the cultural development of early adolescence. In this context, slang functions not only as a means of communication but also as a means of self-expression and building social relationships among peers. The use of slang among elementary school students creates a space for them to interact and understand each other, as well as strengthen social bonds within their group. This study examines various literature and previous research results on semiotic theories proposed by Ferdinand de Saussure and Charles Sanders Peirce. These theories serve as an important foundation in understanding the linguistic signs and meanings behind the use of slang. However, the uncontrolled use of slang can potentially obscure the rules of standard Indonesian. If not addressed with an appropriate pedagogical approach, this can disrupt the learning process and students' understanding of formal Indonesian. Therefore, it is important for educators to understand the dynamics of slang use among students in order to manage and direct its use in learning contexts. This way, students will not only be able to communicate well in slang but also be able to apply standard Indonesian language rules in appropriate situations, enabling them to become effective and competent communicators in today's global era. This research is expected to provide deeper insight into the importance of understanding slang in educational contexts, as well as encourage the development of more innovative and relevant teaching methods to meet the needs of students in the modern era.

The purpose of this study was to analyze the influence of reading habits at home on elementary school students' reading comprehension skills using a literature review approach methodology (library research). Reading comprehension skills are a significant factor in learning activities, and early reading habits in the family environment are considered to have a great influence in improving them. Based on the results of studies from various literature sources, it was found that students who regularly carry out reading activities at home tend to have better levels of reading comprehension, more vocabulary, and higher reading interest compared to students who do not have these habits. Many influencing factors such as parental involvement, variety and availability of reading materials, and special time for reading at home, foster this influence. Thus, improving reading culture at home is an important strategy to support the literacy success of elementary school students.
