Preventive Behaviors and Glycemic Control Among Patients with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus: A Cross-Sectional Analysis

Abstract
Effective glycemic control in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is closely linked to the adoption of preventive health behaviors. This study explores the association between preventive behaviors—including diet, medication adherence, physical activity, and routine check-ups—and glycemic control among T2DM patients attending a primary healthcare center in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. A total of 450 patients were included in this cross-sectional analysis. Findings showed that patients who regularly monitored blood glucose, maintained dietary discipline, and adhered to prescribed medications had significantly better HbA1c levels. The study underscores the importance of patient education and behavioral counseling in improving diabetes management outcomes.
