Prevalence and Behavioral Determinants of Obesity Among Urban Adults: A Cross-Sectional Study

Abstract
Obesity has become a significant public health concern in urban areas of Indonesia, driven by lifestyle changes and environmental factors. This cross-sectional study assessed the prevalence of obesity and examined its behavioral determinants among adults living in Jakarta. A total of 1,200 participants aged 20–60 years were surveyed using structured questionnaires and anthropometric measurements. The findings revealed an obesity prevalence of 28.5%, with higher rates among women and individuals aged 40 and above. Key behavioral determinants included physical inactivity, frequent consumption of fast food, and irregular sleep patterns. The study underscores the need for targeted health promotion strategies focusing on behavioral modifications to address the rising obesity trends in urban Indonesia.
