Studi Literatur Keanekaragaman Kepiting Bakau (Scylla Serrata) di Papua

The mangrove ecosystem in Papua is recognized for its rich biodiversity, including various species of mangrove crabs (Brachyura) that play a crucial role in maintaining ecological balance. This study examines the diversity of mangrove crab species in several mangrove areas of Papua using plot and quadrat transect methods for sample collection, along with morphological identification keys for species determination. Literature review results indicate that the diversity of mangrove crabs in Papua is quite high, with the genus Scylla being the dominant species. Environmental factors such as substrate, salinity, and vegetation density influence the distribution and abundance of crab species. Healthy and well-preserved mangroves are key to supporting this species diversity. The study emphasizes the importance of conservation efforts for mangroves to maintain the diversity and stability of Papua’s coastal ecosystems, which are increasingly threatened by human activities and climate change.
