This research is motivated by the importance tank cleaning process on tankers to prevent cargo contamination, maintain cargo quality, and ensure crew safety. MT. Marina Prosperity, a chemical/oil tanker, uses the Butterworth system as the primary method for tank cleaning at every cargo change. However, in practice, technical and operational constraints are still found that affect the results of tank cleaning. The research method used is descriptive qualitative with data collection techniques through direct observation on the ship, interviews with the Chief Officer and Boatswain, and documentation studies in the form of log books and SOPs. Data were analyzed by focusing on three aspects, namely work efficiency, work safety, and operational procedures for using Butterworth. The results show that the use of Butterworth can increase time and energy efficiency compared to manual methods, with an average cleaning time of 2–4 hours per tank depending on the type of cargo. From a safety aspect, Butterworth reduces the need for crew to enter the tank, thereby reducing the risk of exposure to chemicals and hazardous atmospheres. However, work effectiveness and safety are greatly influenced by the condition of the equipment, the stability of water pressure, and the crew's discipline in implementing the SOP. On several occasions, steps such as nozzle cleaning, manual mopping, and safety meetings were not consistently performed, resulting in residual load in certain areas. With routine equipment maintenance, close supervision, and ongoing crew training, Butterworth can be optimized to produce more effective, safe, and standards-compliant tank cleaning process.

Occupational health and safety (OHS) is a crucial aspect that must be addressed by companies to protect employees from the risks of accidents and health issues in the workplace. This study aims to examine the legal responsibilities of companies regarding the implementation of OHS and to explore the challenges they face in fulfilling these obligations. The research method used is descriptive qualitative, by collecting data through literature studies and in-depth interviews with relevant parties. The results show that companies generally have a good understanding of their legal obligations related to OHS, which is reflected in policies and routine training provided to employees. However, the implementation still faces several obstacles such as limited facilities, lack of supervision, and low work discipline, all of which affect the effectiveness of OHS practices. Legally, the regulations governing OHS are adequate, but law enforcement and monitoring must be improved to ensure that companies fulfill their responsibilities optimally. Furthermore, the social and ethical dimensions are also essential in building a safety culture that supports employee well-being and business continuity. In conclusion, the legal responsibility of companies for OHS must be implemented comprehensively and sustainably to ensure a safe and productive work environment.

The success of operational management at an airport is highly dependent on the performance and discipline of the Apron Movement Control (AMC) officers (Nurifi, 2024). AMC officers are required to be able to carry out high discipline, considering the many safety procedures that must be followed in order to avoid potential risks and incidents, because this affects the effectiveness of work and also the efficiency of airport officers, namely Apron Movement Control (AMC). The purpose of this study was to determine whether there is an influence of work discipline on the effectiveness of the work of Apron Movement Control (AMC) officers at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport and how much influence it has. This study uses a quantitative approach. The location of the research was carried out at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, Benda District, Tangerang City and Kosambi, Tangerang, Banten. With a research period of August 2024 to February 2025. In this study, all Apron Movement Control (AMC) officers at Terminal 3 of Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, totaling 19 people, will be used as respondents by filling out the questionnaire provided. Based on the results of the research and analysis that have been conducted, it can be concluded that work discipline has a significant influence with a contribution of 75.9%. Meanwhile, the remaining 24.1% is influenced by other factors that were not analyzed in this study. This influence is proven by the coefficient of determination (R²) value of 0.759, which shows that work discipline contributes 75.9% to the effectiveness of the Apron Movement Control (AMC) officers at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport.

Occupational Safety and Health (K3) is an aspect of activities in the work environment as a form of implementation of safe and comfortable work to achieve an organizational goal, namely zero incidents so as to increase effectiveness and productivity in the workplace. Workplace accidents can be caused by two things, namely unsafe actions and unsafe conditions. From work accident data, it is estimated that 85% of work accidents occur due to unsafe work behavior and the average accident is caused by human factors. PT. Pelabuhan Indonesia (Persero) Terminal Petikemas Kendari is an Indonesian State-Owned Enterprise engaged in port services, specifically container services. In the past year, there have been 21 accidents involving operators who experienced incidents classified as light at PT. Pelindo. The purpose of this study was to determine the factors related to work accidents among operators at PT. Pelabuhan Indonesia (Persero) Kendari Container Terminal in 2024. The design of this study was cross-sectional using quantitative research methodology. Using a total sampling of 49 peoples. The data analysis technique used the chi-square test and fisher's exact test on the SPSS application. The results showed that there was a relationship between K3 knowledge (0.011), behavior (0.035), use of PPE (0.001) and there was no relationship between supervision (1.000) and work accidents among operators at PT. Pelabuhan Indonesia (Persero) Kendari Container Terminal. The researcher advised the company to improve K3 knowledge, provide rewards as motivation, and carry out punishments to discipline workers.

Airplane Accident Assistance and Fire Fighting (PKP-PK) is a unit at the airport that is responsible for handling aviation emergencies and fires. This research discusses the influence of work discipline and work safety on the work effectiveness of PKP-PK unit employees at airports. Work discipline itself means attitudes and behavior that show compliance and adherence to the rules, norms, procedures and work ethic established in the workplace. Meanwhile Occupational safety itself is a series of actions, policies and procedures implemented to protect the health and safety of employees in the workplace. The aim of this research is to analyze the influence of employee work discipline and work safety on the effectiveness of the PKP-PK work unit. This research also aims to determine the effectiveness of the work of firefighters regarding obstacles and the efforts made to overcome these obstacles. The method used in this research is library research, which involves collecting and analyzing data from various relevant literature sources. This research focuses on previous studies regarding work discipline and work safety on work effectiveness in the PKP-PK unit. The research results show that good work discipline and safety have a positive effect on the work effectiveness of the PKP-PK firefighting unit employees. Discipline that is embedded in the souls of every employee increases work effectiveness and enthusiasm for work, so that responses to emergency situations can be carried out quickly and effectively. Therefore, there is a need for better personnel training and more detailed safety equipment readiness to improve operational performance.
