Abstract. PT XYZ, a wooden furniture manufacturing company, served as the research site for this study which applied the Theory of Constraints (TOC) method to analyze production performance and identify bottlenecks. The company faces capacity imbalances between workstations, resulting in production targets that have not been achieved optimally. Data collection involved direct observation and interviews with related parties in the production area. The analysis was conducted by comparing the required capacity with the available capacity at each production workstation. The findings reveal that solid processing, machining, sanding, assembling, painting, and packing have sufficient available capacities to meet production requirements, thus categorized as non-bottleneck processes. In contrast, the panel processing station is identified as the main bottleneck due to its highest workload among all processes. By implementing the Theory of Constraints, the company can identify major constraints and establish improvement priorities to enhance production flow smoothness. It is expected that improvements in bottleneck processes will increase production efficiency, balance capacity among workstations, and support more optimal achievement of production targets. PT XYZ sebuah perusahaan manufaktur furnitur kayu, menjadi lokasi penelitian ini yang menggunakan metode Theory of Constraints (TOC) untuk menganalisis kinerja produksi dan mengidentifikasi bottleneck. Perusahaan menghadapi ketidakseimbangan kapasitas antar stasiun kerja yang menyebabkan target produksi belum terdengar secara optimal. Pengumpulan data meliputi observasi langsung dan wawancara dengan pihak terkait di area produksi. Analisis dilaksanakan dengan membandingkan kapasitas yang dibutuhkan terhadap kapasitas yang tersedia pada setiap stasiun kerja produksi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa proses pembahanan solid, machining, sanding, assembling, painting, dan packing memiliki kapasitas yang tersedia yang masih mampu memenuhi kebutuhan produksi, sehingga termasuk kategori non-bottleneck. Sebaliknya, stasiun kerja pembahanan panel diidentifikasi sebagai bottleneck utama karena memiliki tingkat beban kerja tertinggi di antara seluruh proses. Dengan penerapan Theory of Constraints, perusahaan dapat mengidentifikasi kendala utama dan menentukan prioritas perbaikan untuk meningkatkan kelancaran aliran produksi. Diharapkan perbaikan pada proses bottleneck dapat meningkatkan efisiensi produksi, menyeimbangkan kapasitas antar stasiun kerja, serta mendukung pencapaian target output perusahaan secara lebih optimal. The continuous increase in paper consumption has a direct impact on waste accumulation and environmental degradation due to the exploitation of wood as the primary raw material. This study aims to design an innovative product called seed paper as a solution for managing paper and cardboard waste, transforming it into something more useful while supporting Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) No. 12 on responsible consumption and production. The production method involves several stages: processing waste into pulp, mixing it with chili seeds, followed by natural printing and drying. The analysis shows that both paper and cardboard waste can be processed into an effective planting medium, where the paper naturally decomposes and the embedded seeds germinate once planted. In terms of production costs, one batch of seed paper requires approximately Rp23.000 for the paper variant and cardboard variant. Technically, this process demonstrates that waste, which would otherwise accumulate in landfills, can be transformed into an innovative product that promotes reforestation while also carrying economic value through a structured calculation of the cost of goods sold.

Indonesia, as a country located at the intersection of three tectonic plates, is highly vulnerable to earthquakes. This has led to the development of various innovations in earthquake-resistant housing. An interesting phenomenon can be found in Sigi District, Central Sulawesi, where several vernacular houses of the Kaili people constructed with a hybrid design (wooden frame and mud walls) have proven to withstand the major earthquake that struck Palu, Central Sulawesi, in 2018. This study aims to examine the architectural typology of non-engineered hybrid houses within the Kaili community using a qualitative descriptive approach and typological analysis. Data collection involved direct observation, interviews, and literature reviews, with a focus on the spatial and physical systems of the buildings. The sample for the study was determined through purposive sampling with specific criteria. Data analysis was conducted using a qualitative descriptive approach. The results of the study indicate that, despite changes in materials due to adaptations to technological advancements and reconstruction policies, the spatial layout and fundamental structure of the houses have maintained traditional philosophies. These houses demonstrate the integration of cultural values, local knowledge about seismic activity, and the use of local materials, which allow for both structural flexibility and some rigidity, contributing to the buildings’ resilience. These findings highlight the importance of combining technical and cultural approaches in designing earthquake-resistant houses within a local context.

This community service activity aims to increase the business capacity of the wood ear mushroom food MSME through integrated mentoring on business legality and access to financing. The subject of the activity was the Brother Farm MSME in Kediri Regency, which initially ran its business informally without adequate legality and had limited access to formal financing. The method used was a participatory approach with activity stages including: initial observation and problem identification, mentoring in creating a Business Identification Number (NIB), mentoring in understanding halal certification, mentoring in processing Fresh Food of Plant Origin (PSAT) permits, and education on access to financing through the People's Business Credit (KUR) scheme. Data collection techniques were carried out through observation, interviews and documentation, while data analysis used a qualitative descriptive approach by comparing conditions before and after mentoring. The results of the activity showed that the MSME successfully obtained business legality in the form of a Business Identification Number and Fresh Food of Plant Origin permits and experienced an increase in understanding regarding halal product guarantees and access to formal financing. This integrated mentoring had a positive impact on increasing consumer confidence, expanding market opportunities, and business readiness in accessing capital. Thus, this activity is able to encourage business transformation towards a more formal, structured and sustainable condition (SDG 8 and SDG 12) thereby contributing to increasing the competitiveness of food MSMEs.

This study aims to analyze the strategic relationship of human resource management (HRM) in improving the productivity and competitiveness of the Bakti Setia small-scale wooden furniture business. Small furniture enterprises play an important role in supporting regional economic growth and employment opportunities. However, many small businesses face challenges in human resource management, such as low workforce skills, lack of training, and minimal structured management systems. This research employed a qualitative descriptive method with data collection techniques through observation, interviews, and documentation. The results of the study indicate that the implementation of HRM strategies, including recruitment, job training, motivation, work discipline, and reward systems, has a significant relationship with increased business productivity. In addition, good communication between business owners and employees also influences work effectiveness and the quality of the furniture products produced. This study concludes that effective human resource management strategies can enhance the sustainability of the Bakti Setia small-scale wooden furniture business.

This study aims to analyze the role of brand equity in enhancing the competitiveness of batik sandal products at “Dinara Wooden Heel.” The research adopts a qualitative approach using a case study method to gain an in-depth understanding of how the elements of brand equity namely brand awareness, perceived quality, brand association, and brand loyalty are developed and utilized by the business actors. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with the business owner and consumers, direct observation, and documentation. The data analysis technique was conducted descriptively through the stages of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that brand equity plays a significant role in improving the competitiveness of Dinara Wooden Heel. The dimensions of perceived quality and brand association serve as the primary strengths in creating competitive advantage through consistent product quality and culture-based differentiation. Meanwhile, brand awareness declined due to distribution limitations during the pandemic, but has gradually recovered through the utilization of social media. On the other hand, brand loyalty has been established through repeat purchases, although its management remains relatively informal. Overall, the four dimensions of brand equity are integrated in enhancing competitiveness through brand visibility, product differentiation, consumer trust, and customer loyalty.

Abstract. Nutritional problems and low levels of healthy food literacy remain significant challenges in rural communities. The utilization of functional foods derived from locally available ingredients represents a strategic approach to improving community health quality. This community engagement program aimed to enhance the knowledge and skills of residents—particularly housewives and adolescents—through education and hands-on training in the production of banana–sappan wood yogurt as a nutrient-dense functional food alternative. The program was conducted on January 10, 2026, in Pabuaran Village, Serang Regency, using an educational and participatory approach. Activities included the delivery of educational materials on functional foods and the health benefits of probiotics, as well as a practical demonstration of yogurt preparation. Program evaluation was carried out through observation of participant engagement and interactive discussions. The results indicated that participants were able to successfully follow all stages of yogurt production and demonstrated high enthusiasm for the use of local ingredients as healthy food alternatives. The resulting product exhibited acceptable sensory characteristics and an appealing appearance. This activity contributed to improved nutritional literacy and food processing skills and demonstrated potential to support household-level food self-reliance.

Textile motifs are works that employ designs created through various techniques. One method of creating textile motifs is the gesek godong technique. This technique is a traditional method in textile design that uniquely uses dried leaves as natural materials to transfer leaf patterns. In this study, the gesek godong technique will be developed using different tools: a wooden rolling pin, a wooden cutting board, and PVC pipe. This study aims to explore the creation of innovative and creative textile motifs using the gesek godong technique. It also seeks to understand the process of creating textile motifs through the gesek godong method using the 4D R&D approach. The findings show that the gesek godong technique can be used to create unique and appealing textile motifs, using leaves as the primary material and different rubbing tools such as a wooden rolling pin, wooden cutting board, and PVC pipe. In addition, this study also discusses how to use each of the rubbing tools. The results from each tool show distinct outcomes, each producing motifs with their own unique quality. In applying the gesek godong technique, one can also select leaves with thick veins to achieve well-defined motifs. In addition to using leaves with thick veins, the coloring technique should avoid excess moisture, so the dye does not spread too much.

Cardiovascular dysfunction is a disorder of the blood vessels, such as hypertension, heart failure, and stroke. In 2016, cardiovascular disease was the leading cause of death worldwide, based on data from the World Health Organization (WHO). Coronary Heart Disease (CHD) is the leading cause of death, along with stroke, as shown by the Sample Registration System survey in 2014.This case involves a 64-year-old male, Mr. N, who presented to the emergency department of RSUD dr. Fauziah Bireuen with complaints of chest pain that developed gradually and worsened over the past month. The pain was located across the entire chest and radiated to the back and neck. The pain was described as severe, like being crushed by a heavy load, worsened during strenuous activities such as cutting grass and chopping wood, and relieved when the patient bent forward. The pain could occur at any time, with a Visual Analog Scale (VAS) score of 10 (severe pain). The patient also reported easy fatigue during heavy physical activity over the past month. Laboratory examination revealed elevated leukocytes, mean corpuscular volume (MCV), segmented neutrophils, troponin I, cholesterol, and triglycerides. The patient was diagnosed with extensive anterior ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) post successful fibrinolytic therapy.

SMEs play an important role in Indonesia's economy, one of which is the woodcraft industry that has great potential for export. Putra Mandiri Woodcraft (PMW) faces sales instability, ranging from 30% to 145.48% of the set target, which affects production efficiency. This study aims to formulate an effective marketing strategy to increase sales volume and business competitiveness. The methods used in this study include the IFE and EFE Matrix analysis to identify internal and external factors affecting the company, SWOT analysis to formulate various strategies, and QSPM to determine strategy priorities based on the Total Attractiveness Score (TAS) value. The analysis results show that Putra Mandiri Woodcraft has an IFE score of 2.70 and an EFE score of 2.80, indicating that the company's internal condition is quite strong, although the response to external factors is still moderate. The company's main strengths lie in product quality and consumer trust, while its weaknesses are the lack of innovation in product design. Based on the SWOT analysis results, eight potential strategies were found, and the QSPM shows that expansion through a marketplace based on product quality and more varied designs is the main priority with a TAS value of 6.16.

Seren Village has abundant organic waste potential, particularly banana peel waste generated from banana-processing MSME activities and wood ash resulting from household firewood combustion. To date, this waste has not been optimally utilized and is often discarded, thereby posing potential environmental problems. This study aims to process banana peel waste and wood ash into an innovative, environmentally friendly shoe polish made from natural materials, while also enhancing the economic value and welfare of the community. The research employed a descriptive qualitative method with a case study approach. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation involving the women’s Family Welfare Empowerment Group (PKK) of Seren Village as the target participants. The shoe polish production process includes drying and grinding banana peels, mixing them with a wood ash solution that functions as a natural coloring agent, adding supporting materials, and heating the mixture until a ready-to-use shoe polish is obtained. The results indicate that the shoe polish produced from banana peels and wood ash has a solid texture, is slightly coarse, non-glossy, and has a relatively fast drying time of approximately one minute. In addition, the product shows good resistance to water splashes and does not damage the surface of shoes. The use of natural ingredients makes this shoe polish safer for health. The utilization of this waste has the potential to support MSME development, reduce environmental pollution, and sustainably improve the welfare of the Seren Village community.

A suitable and targeted marketing plan is required because of the intense competition in the retail drinking water sector. Customer segmentation using RFM (Recency, Frequency, and Monetary) analysis is one of the techniques employed. Additionally, K-Means clustering, a clustering technique based on machine learning, is employed. This study's goal is to present the findings in the form of graphs that can be used to examine consumer trends according to their attributes. With a value of 10286, the Calinski Harabaz index is a suitable metric to move on to the segmentation step in this study, which also tests three metrics using the clustering method. An ideal cluster is created for every cluster evaluation by dividing the Calinski Harabaz index into three more manageable clusters. This contrasts with other evaluation metrics that only yield two clusters. For instance, when XYZ drinking water sales transaction data was distributed, it was discovered that, out of the total drinking water sales, woodsale had 422 customers, diamond had 1061 customers, and star diamond had 2005 customers. The management of the XYZ drinking water company and other marketing fields are expected to encounter more intense competition as a result of the study's findings.

This study aims to 1). Observe and understand the stages of propagating F2 white oyster mushroom seedlings at Wairita Farm. 2). Compare the growth of F2 white oyster mushroom seedlings between corn cobs and a mixture of corn cobs and wood powder. 3). Improve the skills and add to the experience and knowledge of students so that they can apply the knowledge they have gained in the lecture hall. This study used a comparative descriptive experimental approach, which is to compare the growth of F2 white oyster mushroom (Pleurotus ostreatus) seedlings on two different types of seedling media. This research was conducted at the Wairita Farm in Wairbleler Village, Waigete District, Sikka Regency, East Nusa Tenggara Province, over a period of 7 days (Monday to Sunday) during working hours from 08:00 to 16:30 with a break from 11:30 to 14:00. This location was chosen because it is an agricultural business unit engaged in the cultivation of white oyster mushrooms (Pleurotus ostreatus). The study period was 3 months, from September 17 to November 17, 2025. Independent variables and dependent variables. Data were obtained through direct observation of mycelium growth, daily recording during the incubation period, and visual documentation. The results of this study indicate that the success of white oyster mushroom F2 seedling propagation is greatly influenced by the suitability of the medium to the physiological and ecological characteristics of the mushroom. A mixture of corn bran and wood powder proved to be more suitable and is recommended for use in the propagation of F2 white oyster mushroom seeds compared to pure corn bran media.

This study investigates biomass-derived surface engineering of AISI 1020 steel for electromedical applications using galam wood charcoal and chicken bone waste as carburizing media. Surface modification is required to improve the mechanical performance of low-carbon steel, particularly in applications that demand high wear resistance and long-term durability. A pack carburizing approach was applied using various ratios of biomass-derived media at a treatment temperature of 800 °C for 2 hours. Chemical composition was analyzed using Optical Emission Spectroscopy (OES), surface hardness was evaluated using Micro Vickers hardness testing, and microstructural characteristics were observed using optical microscopy. The results show a significant increase in surface carbon content with increasing fractions of chicken bone powder, indicating its effectiveness as a carbon donor and diffusion promoter. The surface hardness increased from approximately 150 HV in the untreated condition to a maximum of about 860 HV in the treated specimen. Microstructural observations revealed the formation of a distinct carburized layer with increasing thickness and uniformity, consistent with enhanced carbon diffusion and surface strengthening. These findings demonstrate that biomass-derived surface engineering provides an effective and sustainable approach for improving the surface properties of low-carbon steel. The proposed method offers strong potential for environmentally friendly manufacturing of durable and reliable electromedical components.

This study aims to analyze product failures and propose improvement actions for cabinet products at CV. Arafah Jaya Purwakarta. Based on production data from November 2024 to April 2025, cabinet products showed the highest defect rate compared to other products, reaching 13%. The most common defects include wood cracks, warped wood, and brittle wood. Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA) was applied to identify and prioritize potential failures based on the Risk Priority Number (RPN), while Fault Tree Analysis (FTA) was used to systematically determine the root causes of failures. The analysis results indicate that the main causes of defects are related to substandard raw material quality, environmental conditions, and insufficient supervision during the production process. Based on the results of FMEA and FTA, improvement proposals were developed using the 5W+1H approach, focusing on improving raw material selection, controlling wood storage conditions, and enhancing work procedures and production supervision. These improvement efforts are expected to reduce defect rates and improve the overall quality of cabinet products.

The creative industry sector, particularly the musical instrument craft, is showing a positive growth trend due to the increasing interest in music among the public. However, this rising demand often does not match the production capacity of small and medium enterprises (UMKM). This study aims to analyze the production capacity and demand patterns of Nira Gitar, a UMKM located in Klaten, Central Java. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, data was collected through in depth interviews with the owner and employees, field observations, and sales reports from January to December 2025. The findings show that Nira Gitar has an average monthly production capacity of 50 guitar units, with each unit taking 2 to 3 days to complete. This capacity is limited by several key factors, namely the use of manual production tools, a shortage of experienced workers, fluctuations in the availability of high-quality wood materials (mahogany and meranti), and weather conditions affecting the drying process. On the other hand, the total demand for the year 2025 reached 598 units, with the highest order recorded in December, totaling 118 units. The company's strategy of educating customers about the product and focusing on quality rather than quantity has built consumer trust, even though the production capacity is not yet able to meet market demand instantly. This study recommends the need for gradual modernization of production tools, training for workers' skills, and strengthening the supply chain of raw materials to improve efficiency and production volume in order to meet the continuously growing market demand.

Wood consumption in Indonesia, which is expected to reach more than 64.84 million m³ by 2025, is putting enormous pressure on forests, as evidenced by the reduction in forest area through the clearing of 96,230 hectares of forest in 2023. To reduce dependence on wood as a building material, alternative materials with comparable physical and mechanical properties are needed. Bamboo, especially laminated bamboo, was chosen because it has high tensile strength, a short harvest time, and abundant availability. This study examines the behavior of hollow section laminated bamboo beam-column connections with a glue-in-rod-bracket system to determine the ductility of the connection under unidirectional (static) loads. An experimental method was used with the independent variables of diameter and number of bolts, while the dependent variables included the moment-rotation of the connection, stiffness, strength, and ductility. The results show that the average ductility values for 4 and 6 thread rods D6, D8, and D10 mostly meet the SNI 1729 (≥1.25) and AISC 360 (rotation >0.03 rad) standards, with classifications ranging from "partially ductile" to "fully elastic." However, the 10-diameter 6-thread rod only achieved a ductility of 1.2, thus failing to meet the SNI standard. Based on the Handbook of Structural Steel Connection Design and Details, all connections fall into the non-seismic category because their ductility values are less than 3. These findings confirm the potential of laminated bamboo as an environmentally friendly construction material, while also providing technical guidelines for the design of non-seismic beam-column connections.

The unknown exact flexural strength of low carbon steel, Randu ribs wood, paving stones, and lightweight bricks is a problem faced. The purpose of this research is to obtain the flexural strength of low carbon steel, Randu ribs, paving stones, and lightweight bricks. The research method is carried out through the preparation of low carbon steel specimens 16mmx200mm, Randu ribs 40mmx60mmx250mm, paving stones 55mmx100mmx200mm, lightweight bricks 95mmx100mmx300mm, Tarno Grocky flexural testing machine settings, flexural testing support distance for low carbon steel 160mm, Randu ribs 220mm, paving stones 170mm, and lightweight bricks 260mm, flexural testing of each material, making flexural stress and deflection curves for low carbon steel, and analyzing flexural test results. The results of the study showed that the flexural strength of low carbon steel was 698 MPa at a deflection of 1.1 mm, the flexural strength of Randu rib wood in an upright position was 40.7 MPa, in a horizontal position was 55.5 MPa, in a normal position of paving stone in an upper position (normal) was 6.64 MPa, in a lower position (upside down) was 6.62 MPa, and in a lightweight brick was 1.28 MPa, which implies that the type of material, the distance between supports and the cross-section of the specimen greatly affect its flexural strength, except for ductile materials for low carbon steel which do not have flexural strength, but have yield strength at a certain deflection.

The use of laminated bamboo columns as alternative building materials has attracted increasing attention, particularly as a substitute for wood in construction. Bamboo lamination techniques enable the production of structural materials with tailored mechanical properties. Numerous previous studies have investigated the compressive strength of laminated bamboo short columns subjected to various treatments. This study aims to evaluate the compressive strength and failure patterns of laminated bamboo short columns under compression loading. The experimental program included physical and mechanical characterization of bamboo, followed by compression testing of laminated bamboo short columns with dimensions of 10 cm × 10 cm × 30 cm. Three treatment variations were examined: untreated laminated columns, epoxy resin–coated columns, and steel plate–reinforced columns. The results indicate that untreated laminated bamboo columns exhibited an average compressive strength of 28.044 MPa, with cracking concentrated at the top of the column. Epoxy resin–coated laminated bamboo columns achieved an average compressive strength of 28.774 MPa, showing crack formation distributed across several regions of the column. Steel plate–reinforced columns demonstrated the highest average compressive strength of 31.138 MPa, with failure localized in the region between the steel plates. These findings provide valuable insights into the effectiveness of different treatment methods in enhancing the compressive performance and failure characteristics of laminated bamboo columns.

This paper was made to explain the results of research on how to obtain the most appropriate citric acid adhesive composition in the manufacture of randu wood fiber composites in order to obtain a strong and suitable composite material. The research was carried out by experimental methods in the laboratory through a series of mechanical tests, namely the bending strength test and the screw grip strength test. The sample specimen is 5 cm × 20 cm × 1 cm for flexural strength testing and 5 cm × 10 cm × 1 cm for screw grip strength test. Composite specimens were made with variations in the composition of citric acid adhesives of 2.5%, 5%, 7.5%, 10%, 12.5%, 15%, 17.5%, and 20% by weight of randu wood. The results showed that the composite of randu wood particles with a citric acid matrix had optimal strength at a certain ratio, which was 7.5%. At the same ratio, the test results of the screw grip strength test also provide the highest value. These findings confirm that the exact composition of the adhesive has a significant impact on the final performance of the resulting composite.
