Artificial Intelligence (AI) and digital technologies have revolutionized language education, providing new opportunities to enhance sociolinguistic awareness and Arabic language skills, including listening, speaking, reading, and writing. This study explores how AI-driven applications and digital platforms support learners in understanding and using various Arabic dialects alongside Modern Standard Arabic. The study uses a qualitative approach to analyse how these technologies bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical communication. The study focuses on tools such as interactive chatbots, speech recognition systems, assistive technologies, virtual assistants, and language learning platforms. These tools align with the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) for Languages 2020 and Sustainable Development Goals 4 (SDG 4), highlighting their potential to promote inclusive and equitable language education. The study analyses how AI and digital tools contribute to Arabic learning and enhance communicative competence rather than involving testing or experiments. The findings suggest that these technologies offer significant potential for improving language proficiency and addressing diverse learners' needs.

This article explores the use of directive speech acts in dialogues presented in English textbooks. Drawing on the theoretical framework of speech act theory by Parker and Riley (1994), the study focuses on understanding how directives—utterances that seek to influence the behavior of the listener—are presented in various dialogues. It examines the various forms and functions of directives, their role in communication, and how they help learners of English understand and practice practical conversational strategies. The article highlights the importance of directive speech acts in both formal and informal contexts, with specific examples drawn from English language textbooks. This study uses qualitative descriptive research where data is found in dialogues in textbooks and then matched with theory and poured into a sentence. This study found that there are five types of directive speech acts, namely, orders, warnings, giving advice, suggestions, and recommendations. In this study, 7 command data, 3 warning data, 2 advice data, 8 suggestion data, and 1 recommendation data were found. In this study, two techniques were found in the delivery of speech acts, namely direct and non-direct. Non-direct techniques tend to contain an element of politeness rather than direct. In addition, the speech actions in this textbook can help students understand, and using directive speech acts effectively can significantly improve communicative competence in language learners.

This latah trend phenomenon is inseparable from the development of the television entertainment world in comedy shows in Indonesia, which considers the disorder of latah speech to be something funny among the younger generation. So, students consider someone who is latah in class to be something that is considered funny. This study aimed to identify the echopraxia latah speech disorder in elementary school teacher education students with a psycholinguistic approach. This research method uses the Milles and Huberman model content analysis method with data collection techniques conducting observations, interviews, and documentation on students of the Elementary School Teacher Education Study Program at Esa Unggul University. The study results from three students who experienced echopraxia latah disorders. The sounds produced were categorized as moderate and caused noise during the learning process in class. This is because the noise created in the classroom is not from the latah utterances issued but because of the response of the classroom environment, which makes it noisy because someone who experiences echopraxia latah disorders does not only repeat their words but is followed by latah movements that are spoken. The causes of echopraxia latah disorders include spontaneity, daydreaming, being surprised when talking and being surprised from behind.

This article presents a systematic review of pragmatic competence in second language acquisition (SLA), emphasizing its critical role in effective communication and intercultural understanding. Pragmatic competence encompasses the ability to understand and use language appropriately in diverse social and cultural contexts, including mastering speech acts, politeness strategies, conversational implicatures, and intercultural pragmatics. Despite its importance, pragmatic competence often receives less attention in language instruction compared to grammar and vocabulary. The review highlights the effectiveness of explicit and implicit teaching methods, authentic interaction, and cultural immersion in developing pragmatic skills. It also underscores the role of technology, such as digital platforms and simulations, in enhancing learners’ ability to navigate real-life communication scenarios. The findings reveal significant challenges, including cultural variability in pragmatic norms, difficulties in standardizing assessments, and the influence of learners’ individual differences. The study calls for innovative teaching and evaluation methods, focusing on personalized approaches and the integration of pragmatic learning with emotional intelligence. By synthesizing current research and practices, this article provides valuable insights for educators, curriculum developers, and researchers, advocating for adaptive, culturally informed, and technology-supported strategies to enhance pragmatic competence in SLA.

Poets must be able to effectively convey unrest through their work. .Feast tends to use a variety of majas that are less popular among its listeners so that the messages that .Feast wants to convey to the listeners of its songs become varied and do not match the main message it wants to convey. This research aims to analyze the use of majas in the lyrics of the song “Kami Belum Tentu” by .Feast. This research uses a qualitative method with a literature study approach to identify and understand the types of majas used. The results of the analysis show that there are 12 types of majas with a total of 51 uses of majas, including metaphor, personification, hyperbole, irony, paradox, and others. This research reveals that the variety of majas in songs provides aesthetic appeal while strengthening critical messages. However, the complexity of meaning in the lyrics is often a challenge for listeners, especially those who are less familiar with the majas used. Through this research, it is hoped that listeners can understand the meaning of songs more comprehensively, so that the message of the singer can be conveyed effectively.

This study examines the rhetorical strategies employed by gubernatorial candidates Edy Rahmayadi and Bobby Nasution during the 2024 North Sumatra election, focusing on their use of ethos, pathos, and logos within Aristotle’s rhetorical framework. The research also compares their rhetorical approaches and evaluates their alignment with ethical communication principles, including transparency, truthfulness, and accountability. Using a qualitative approach, this study analyzes five campaign speeches from each candidate to identify persuasive strategies, compare their communication styles, and assess their ethical implications. Findings reveal that while both candidates effectively employ rhetorical strategies, their approaches differ significantly. Edy Rahmayadi emphasizes his track record and regional pride, often adopting a defensive tone to address criticisms. Bobby Nasution presents a more inclusive, proactive, and solution-oriented rhetorical style, appealing to optimism and collaboration. Furthermore, Bobby’s speeches align more closely with ethical communication principles through transparent, truthful, and actionable commitments, whereas Edy demonstrates partial alignment, occasionally deflecting responsibility or lacking specificity in his arguments. This study focuses on the analysis of language errors at the linguistic level. It employs a descriptive method to depict an existing and ongoing phenomenon to address the research problem. The process includes a literature review of several journal articles and other sources relevant to the analysis of language errors. Additionally, a video from the TikTok account Pegele, specifically a short video from the ADA Podcast, was used as the analysis material. The video analyzed at the linguistic level was transcribed into written form to facilitate the research process. The short video from the TikTok account Pegele was used as analysis material based on the subtitle textlines included in the video. The study identified several language errors at the linguistic level, including phoneme addition, phoneme reduction, phoneme substitution, affix addition, affix reduction, and affix substitution. These language errors can be attributed to several factors, such as the influence of the mother tongue, limited proficiency in Indonesian, and a lack of formal language instruction. Efforts to reduce linguistic errors in the speech acts performed by Arafah Rianti, Halda, and Derbi Romero in the ADA Podcast program include studying Indonesian sentence structures, expanding vocabulary, and practicing speaking more frequently.

Poetry, as a form of literary work, contains intrinsic elements that are interrelated and shape its meaning. In the poems Hujan Bulan Juni and Tentang Matahari by Sapardi Djoko Damono (1994; 1996), intrinsic elements such as physical and spiritual aspects play a significant role in conveying the message and meaning. Using the theories of Ivor Armstrong Richards (1947) and J.A. Richards (1929), this study examines elements such as line, stanza, rhyme, rhythm, figures of speech, and typography (physical elements), as well as theme, message, tone, and feeling (spiritual elements). This study aims to provide a deeper understanding of the role of these intrinsic elements in shaping the overall meaning of the poem. The research method used is descriptive analysis of the two poems. The findings suggest that these elements work together in delivering deep meaning through the structure and language used by the poet. Readers are encouraged to consider the relationship between form and meaning in understanding the message of the poems.
