Poetry is part of a literary work that has aesthetic value and is visualized in verses with full meaning. The purpose of this study is to analyze poetry with an expressive approach. The method used in this research is descriptive method with content analysis, by analyzing poetry with an expressive approach. Expressive is an approach in a very scientific and well-studied way. Because the expressive approach to poetry is based on our interpretation of a structured poem. So, previously poetry could not be understood by everyone who did not understand the world of literature because the words contained figures of speech (hyperbole in particular) became understandable to everyone who did not know about the world of literature because the words in the poem were interpreted in ordinary words. What used to contain a lot of figurative language became words that are common or easily understood by everyone.

This study aims to find and analyze the intrinsic elements contained in the short story "Robohnya Surau Kami" by AA Navis. This research was conducted within the scope of the field of literature and was carried out using qualitative methods and descriptive data analysis techniques. In this research, it is necessary to study documents and study literature. In the world of education, the teacher's role is not only AS a provider of material, but also AS an educator who teaches character for each student. Educators AS examples and reflections in the world of education that teach how to shape students with character. One way to shape the character of students is through a literary work. Literary work is something that is conveyed communicatively both orally and in writing in which there is a message or intention to be conveyed by the author. Through literary works students can easily understand how to build a good character in everyday life, because literary works are also a reflection of life. There are many theories and literary approaches to studying a literary work. One of them is the expressive approach. Through an expressive approach students can recognize the characters in a literary work. One of them is in a short story literary work entitled "Robohnya Surau Kami".

Artikel ini membahas analisis struktural tokoh Hanif dalam novel Meraih Bintang karya Muhammad Afrilianto yang memiliki kepribadian luar biasa berkat didikan orang tuanya. Novel ini terinspirasi dari kehidupan masa lalu pengarang, dan Novel ini mengusung konsep realis yakni dengan mendeskripsikan nama tempat dengan jelas pada saat proses konflik. Artikel ini bertujuan mengkaji Novel Meraih Bintang dengan menggunakan pendekatan Ekspresif dan Pendekatan Objektif. Aspek Kepribadian tokoh Hanif dimaknai dari berbagai sikap yang diekspresikan Hanif dalam bersosialisasi dengan teman, kerabat dan orang tua dalam sudut pandang sastra. Hal ini bisa menjadikan teladan dan motivasi bagi semua orang dalam balutan karya sastra.

Penelitian pada artikel ini menunjukkan bahwa pada puisi “Aku ingin melukismu” karya Nenden Lilis Aisyah memiliki majas metafora yang mengandung makna tertentu salah satunya pada kata ‘melukismu’ memiliki arti yaitu ‘mengabadikanmu’ yang selanjutnya dapat disimpulkan dengan pendekatan ekspresif dan metode penelitian deskriptif kualitatif yakni melihat dari sisi pengarang dalam membuat puisi tersebut yang terdapat satu momen atau kenangan pada saat itu yang membuat dirinya ingin melakukan sesuatu yang dapat diabadikan dan adapun hal yang menarik pada pengarang yaitu pengarang tersebut memilih pilihan kata majas yang unik sehingga muncul rasa ingin tahu dari pembaca dan dengan dibuatnya artikel ini bertujuan untuk menemukan makna yang terkandung dalam majas metafora pada puisi tersebut dan maksud atau tujuan dari ungkapan pengarang yang dituju untuk pembaca.
