PT. X is a textile company that produces greige fabric. One of the crucial stages in the greige fabric production process is inspection. Currently, the facility layout of the inspection area at PT X is still suboptimal. This results in longer fabric movement distances and increased time, leading to delivery delays and higher material handling costs. This study aims to design an optimal facility layout in the inspection area using the Activity Relationship Chart (ARC) method and to determine the distances, times, and costs for the proposed layout. In the initial production layout, the fabric movement distance reached 26,130 meters in one working day, and the fabric movement time was 936 minutes. Furthermore, the initial production layout generated a relatively high OMH of Rp 13,742,980 per month. After designing the facility layout using the Activity Relationship Chart (ARC) and Blockplan methods, the proposed layout was arranged according to the production process sequence, resulting in a smoother material flow. The proposed layout yields 16,830 meters of fabric movement per workday, 660 minutes of required time, and a monthly OMH of Rp 7,945,622, with an efficiency of 39.32%.

The development of MSMEs in the traditional food sector requires business actors to increase production capacity. MSME Gethuk Lindri Niki Eco plans to build a larger facility to meet increasing demand. However, the layout planning is still based on rough drawings and experience, which can lead to inefficient material movement. This study aims to provide an overview of recommendations for a more efficient production facility layout using the CRAFT method. The research method involves collecting data on production processes, departmental areas, and material movement frequency. Moreover, an Activity Relationship Chart (ARC) is compiled to identify the close relationships among departments. The results of the analysis are visualized with a Block Plan. Furthermore, the layout is optimized using the CRAFT method. The results show that the recommended layout reduces the total material movement distance from 60.96 meters to 58.19 meters or a reduction of 4.53%. In addition, material handling costs also decreased from Rp. 780.64 to Rp. 766.19 or a savings of 1.85%. Thus, the application of the CRAFT method resulted in a more efficient production layout at the Gethuk Lindri Niki Eco MSME.

The management of used goods in warehouses involves a high level of complexity due to the wide variety of item types, differences in economic value, and limitations in space and labor. These conditions result in unstructured item arrangement, difficulties in determining item priorities, and inefficient loading processes caused by relatively long material handling distances. This study aims to analyze the application of the ABC Analysis method to improve layout efficiency and the management of used goods at the warehouse of UD. Barokah Mulia Rongsok. The research method employed is descriptive quantitative with a case study approach. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and warehouse record documentation, then analyzed using the ABC Analysis method as well as an analysis of the relationship between material handling distance and loading time. The results show that Category A items have the highest contribution in terms of value and movement frequency; however, under existing conditions, these items are still located far from the loading area. In addition, a relationship was found between material handling distance and loading duration. Based on these findings, a proposed warehouse layout was developed that prioritizes placing Category A items closer to the loading door, thereby potentially improving warehouse layout efficiency.

Lifting activities are an essential part of manual material handling across various industrial sectors and constitute a primary source of ergonomic risk exposure when performed with inappropriate work postures. The use of hands-off tools such as push-pull sticks is often implemented to maintain a safe distance between workers and loads and to reduce exposure to line-of-fire hazards. However, the implementation of work aids does not automatically ensure neutral work postures, as push-pull techniques, reach distances, and environmental conditions can still lead to awkward postures. This study aims to evaluate the work posture risk in lifting activities using a fiber-composite push-pull stick based on the Rapid Entire Body Assessment (REBA) method. The research was conducted as an observational analytic field study involving nine workers in tubular pushing and pulling activities. Work postures were documented through direct observation and visual recordings, then assessed using REBA to obtain risk scores, risk categories, and required corrective actions. The results indicate that work postures fall into the medium to high-risk categories, with trunk and shoulder components being the dominant contributors. These findings confirm the need for improvements in work methods, ergonomic training, and strengthening of lifting SOPs to optimize the safety and ergonomic benefits of work aids.

Coal quality must be controlled from the pit area to the ROM stockpile to ensure compliance with market specifications. However, hauling and stockpiling processes often lead to changes in coal characteristics. This study aims to analyze variations in proximate parameters between coal from Pit B1 and ROM Stockpile Km4 at PT Trisensa Mineral Utama and to identify factors contributing to these changes. The methodology includes field sampling at both locations, sample preparation based on ASTM standards, and laboratory testing of inherent moisture, residual moisture, ash content, volatile matter, and fixed carbon. The results indicate that coal undergoes quality changes after being stored in the stockpile, marked by a decrease in inherent moisture of 2.54% (from 17.64% to 15.10%), a decrease in residual moisture of 1.42% (from 17.17% to 15.75%), a slight reduction in ash content of 0.16%, a decline in volatile matter of 0.28%, and a reduction in fixed carbon of 0.18%. These changes are influenced by field conditions, material contamination during mining, rainfall, coal porosity, and handling activities at the stockpile. The findings highlight the need for improved sampling management, better surface water control, and stricter material handling procedures to minimize coal quality degradation.

The continuous operation of airlock machines in wheat milling facilities plays a critical role in the material handling system, especially in the transfer of grain from ships to silo storage. At PT XYZ, the airlock machine has been identified as the equipment with the highest frequency of downtime over a three-month observation period, leading to significant disruptions in production flow and increased corrective maintenance costs. This study aims to analyze the failure modes of the airlock machine using the Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA) method and to develop preventive maintenance recommendations based on the highest Risk Priority Number (RPN) values. The research adopts a quantitative descriptive approach, involving field observations, interviews with maintenance personnel, historical breakdown analysis, and machine technical documentation review. The FMEA results indicate that the seal, gear, and bearing are the most critical components, with RPN values of 224, 210, and 192, respectively. These components are prioritized for preventive actions such as regular seal replacement, scheduled lubrication, gear inspections, and motor monitoring. Simulation of the proposed maintenance strategy demonstrates a 66.7% reduction in downtime, from 18 hours to 6 hours per month, and a 43.7% reduction in total maintenance costs, from Rp 9,034,500 to Rp 5,087,500 monthly. These results validate the effectiveness of the FMEA method in identifying risk-prone components and optimizing maintenance planning. It is recommended that PT XYZ institutionalize periodic FMEA updates and establish a cross-functional analysis team to continuously monitor and improve equipment reliability.

Material handling is a term for transportation or transport activities carried out by industrial companies, which involve moving raw materials, semi-finished goods or finished goods from one location to another predetermined location. Apart from that, material handling is also important in quality control, where 3-5% of damaged goods are caused by material handling. The aim of this research is to identify and redesign the layout conditions of concrete production facilities at PT. XYZ. The method of this research is the Activity Relationship Chart (ARC), Activity Relationship Daigram (ARD) and Total Closeness Rating (TCR) methods. In the current layout conditions, the sand warehouse and crushed stone warehouse work stations should be close to the two hoppers, namely the batching plant hopper and the asphalt mixing plant hopper, but in the actual conditions these two work stations are not close to each other. In the new facility layout there are changes and relocation of work stations based on the degree of proximity. Future research is expected to consider the amount of time generated during the material handling process and also consider cost aspects during the process of designing changes to the facility layout.

PT EQY is a textile company, especially yarn spinning. The activities of the staffing/packing department at PT EQY are packing, lifting, and moving cardboard boxes. This activity still relies on human power or manual material handling. This work is carried out repeatedly and continuously, causing complaints of pain in several parts of the body during work. This raises the risk of work postures such as Musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs). This research aims to produce a design for work aids that can reduce the risk of Musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) using the Ovako Work Analysis System (OWAS) method. Based on the problem, work posture analysis was carried out using the OWAS method to find out whether the work posture of staffing/packing employees falls into the risky posture category or not. Based on the results of the Ovako Work Analysis System (OWAS) analysis research, it shows that the posture of staffing/packing workers is included in the high risk category and needs immediate improvement. This improvement involves designing work facilities, namely a handlift and packing table with an ergonomics approach, resulting in a handlift design with a height of 200 cm (2000 mm) and a packing table with a width of 200 cm (2000 mm) and a packing table with a length of 60 cm (600mm), width 60 cm(600mm), and height 104 cm(1040mm).
