Ultraviolet (UV) exposure is a significant ocular health risk for outdoor workers, particularly PPSU officers in tropical regions. This community engagement program aimed to improve UV risk awareness and eye protection. Methods included basic eye examinations, interactive education, and counseling on personal protective equipment involving 53 PPSU workers in Pengadegan, South Jakarta. Results indicated that participants initially had limited knowledge and inconsistent use of eye protection. Following the intervention, there was a notable increase in understanding and a willingness to adopt preventive behaviors. In conclusion, simple educational interventions effectively enhance eye health awareness among urban outdoor workers. Such programs should be sustained as part of occupational health promotion and prevention strategies to ensure long-term worker safety.

Leprosy is a chronic infectious disease caused by Mycobacterium leprae, an obligate intracellular bacterium that affects the skin, peripheral nerves, upper respiratory mucosa, and eyes. Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is a comorbidity that can worsen the course of leprosy. The female patient, Mrs. D, aged 55 years came to the emergency room of Cut Meutia Hospital with the main complaint of red bumps accompanied by pain on the face, hands, chest, and back since 3 days ago and additional complaints such as fever, joint pain, and numbness and loss of feeling in the legs, weakness, frequent thirst, and frequent urination. Dermatologic status is obtained in the facial region in the form of erythema nodules with firm boundaries with numular size, multiple. Laboratory examination showed anemia and leukocytosis. The therapy given was MDT MB package, ferrous sulfate 1x325 mg and PRC transfusion 3 kolf. Complaints arose acutely after the patient resumed taking MDT (multidrug therapy) leprosy drugs which had previously been stopped for more than 3 months. Based on the time of onset of symptoms, history of leprosy treatment, and the manifestation of systemic inflammatory lesions with signs of neurotropism, it can be suspected that the patient is experiencing a type 2 leprosy reaction or Erythema Nodosum Leprosum (ENL).

Introduction: Dengue fever is a viral infection transmitted through the bite of infected female Aedes aegypti mosquito, caused by four dengue virus serotypes (DEN-1 to DEN-4), with clinical manifestations ranging from asymptomatic to severe disease and may be accompanied by warning sign. Concurrent infections, such as acute diarrhea, may worsen outcomes, particularly in children. Case Report: A nine-month-old female presented with a five-day history of intermittent fever and watery diarrhea. Additional symptoms included vomiting, lethargy, and decreased appetite. Physical examination showed a moderately ill appearance and sunken eyes. Laboratory findings revealed positive dengue IgM, negative dengue IgG, thrombocytopenia (22,000/µL), and hematocrit of 37%. The patient was diagnosed with dengue fever with warning sign and acute diarrhea. Management included intravenous crystalloid fluids, antipyretics, antibiotics, H2 receptor antagonists, and zinc supplementation. Conclusion: Dengue with warning sign and concurrent acute diarrhea in children increases the risk of morbidity and mortality. Early and appropriate management is essential to prevent disease progression and improve clinical outcomes.

Dermoid cyst is a benign congenital choristoma frequently found in the periocular region, particularly in children. It results from ectodermal tissue sequestration along embryonic fusion lines. Although generally benign and slow-growing, dermoid cysts may cause cosmetic deformity, mechanical ptosis, or visual disturbance if left untreated. A 4-year-old child presented with a painless, slowly enlarging mass on the upper eyelid that had been noticed since early childhood. Physical examination revealed a well-circumscribed, firm, non-tender mass without signs of inflammation. Visual acuity was within normal limits, and no proptosis was observed. Clinical findings were consistent with a superficial eyelid dermoid cyst. The patient underwent complete surgical excision under general anesthesia. Intraoperatively, the cyst was removed intact without rupture. Histopathological examination confirmed a dermoid cyst characterized by keratinized stratified squamous epithelium lining with adnexal skin structures. Postoperative recovery was uneventful, with good cosmetic outcome and no recurrence during follow-up. Eyelid dermoid cyst can be diagnosed clinically through careful history taking and physical examination. Complete surgical excision is the definitive treatment and provides excellent functional and cosmetic outcomes. Early management is recommended to prevent potential complications and to achieve optimal results.

Hypertension is one of the main risk factors that can cause damage to target organs, including the eyes. One of the complications that often occur in hypertensive patients is hypertensive retinopathy, which is damage to retinal blood vessels due to a persistent increase in blood pressure. This damage can be progressive and asymptomatic in the early stages, so it often goes undetected until severe visual disturbances appear. This study aims to identify and analyze the role of blood pressure control in the prevention of ocular complications in hypertensive patients through a literature review. The method used is literature review by selecting national and international research articles published in 2021–2025 from the PubMed, ScienceDirect, Google Scholar, and Cochrane Library databases. Inclusion criteria include full-text articles, relevant research designs, and discussing the relationship between blood pressure control and ocular complications. The results of the study showed that uncontrolled blood pressure increased the risk of retinal damage, decreased ocular perfusion, and microvascular changes detected through funduscopy and Optical Coherence Tomography Angiography (OCTA) examinations. Some studies have concluded that stable blood pressure control, not just the average value of blood pressure, has a significant effect in preventing the progression of hypertensive retinopathy. In addition, regular eye exams have been proven to be able to detect retinal changes early, so that preventive interventions can be carried out in a timely manner. Thus, optimal blood pressure control, therapy adherence, healthy lifestyle education, and regular retinal examinations are effective strategies in preventing ocular complications and maintaining vision quality in hypertensive patients.

A condition of physical and mental well-being devoid of all illnesses pertaining to the reproductive system, reproductive function, and reproductive processes is known as reproductive health. Women's reproductive health is therefore crucial. Cervical cancer brought on by an infection with the Human Papillomavirus (HPV) is one illness that can compromise the health of reproductive organs. 95% of occurrences of cervical cancer are linked to HPV, which is spread through sexual activity. Cervical cancer is presently the second most common cause of death for women's reproductive health, after breast cancer. After cardiovascular illness, cancer is the second most common cause mortality. There are  number of ways to prevent cervical cancer, including IVA (Visual Inspection with Acetic Acid), a test that uses 3-5% acetic acid in a speculum and is visible with the unaided eye. However, many women still refuse to undergo the IVA test. In order to promote early detection behavior, husbands' knowledge, attitudes, and support are crucial. Counseling is one way to raise public awareness and interest. The purpose of this study is to identify the variables that affect fertile women's lack of interest in having IVA exams. The chi-square test version 25.0 was employed in the analysis. According to the test findings, there is a correlation between husband's support (p-value = 0.010), attitudes (p-value = 0.010), and knowledge (p-value = 0.006). The study concludes that women of reproductive age's lack of interest in undergoing IVA tests at the Butong Health Center is influenced by knowledge, attitudes, and husband support.

Bell's Palsy is a sudden onset of peripheral facial nerve paralysis that is generally unilateral. This condition is characterized by facial muscle weakness, asymmetry, difficulty closing the eyes, and facial expression disorders. Associated risk factors include exposure to cold temperatures and the habit of chewing ice cubes, which can trigger vasospasm of the blood vessels and inflammation of the facial nerve.  Physiotherapy management is important to accelerate recovery, prevent complications such as synkinesis and contractures, and improve the patient's quality of life. This study aims to describe the implementation of physiotherapy in cases of Bell's Palsy at PKU Muhammadiyah Selogiri Hospital and evaluate the effectiveness of physiotherapy intervention on the recovery of facial function in patients. A case report was conducted on a 41-year-old female patient diagnosed with right-sided Bell's Palsy. The examination included anamnesis, static and dynamic inspection, palpation, basic movement examination, sensory examination, and assessment using the House-Brackmann Facial Grading System (HBGS). Physiotherapy interventions were given three times a week, including Infra Red (IR), Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation (TENS), light massage, facial exercises (raising eyebrows, closing eyes, blowing, smiling), and education on preventing exposure to cold. Evaluation was performed using Manual Muscle Testing (MMT) and Ugo Fisch. The implementation of physiotherapy with a combination of IR, TENS, massage, and facial exercises is effective in gradually improving the facial function of patients with Bell's Palsy. Physiotherapy also plays a role in educating patients about the prevention of recurrence related to environmental risk factors and lifestyle.

Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is a chronic metabolic disorder whose prevalence continues to rise, making it a major challenge for health systems worldwide. This disease results from a combination of insulin resistance and impaired pancreatic β-cell function, leading to persistent hyperglycemia and increased risk of long-term complications affecting the kidneys, cardiovascular system, nervous system, and eyes. This report describes the case of a 52-year-old woman diagnosed with T2DM for approximately ten years. The patient presented with fatigue, nocturnal polyuria, nausea after meals, significant weight loss, and tingling in her extremities. Laboratory findings revealed an HbA1c level of 12%, reflecting very poor glycemic control. A family medicine approach was applied through detailed history taking, physical and laboratory examinations, home visits, and completion of a family folder to assess clinical, personal, social, and functional aspects. Interventions included counseling on balanced diet, encouragement of regular physical activity, education on diabetic foot care, and pharmacological treatment with metformin and insulin. The family received counseling about hereditary risk factors, the importance of emotional support, and the need for consistent monitoring of health status. The patient was still capable of light daily activities, supported by a highly functional family environment with an APGAR score of 10. A holistic family medicine–based approach was shown to improve treatment adherence, patient knowledge, and overall quality of life. Therefore, management of T2DM requires a comprehensive strategy that integrates promotive, preventive, curative, and rehabilitative components, emphasizing the active involvement of family and community at the primary care level to reduce complications, slow disease progression, and enhance patient well-being.   Keywords: Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is a chronic metabolic disorder whose prevalence continues to rise, making it a major challenge for health systems worldwide. The development of digital technology has had a significant impact on the health sector, including eye examination services. This study discusses the development and implementation of a Digital Optoscope-based Eye Diagnostic application designed using a web platform (HTML). This application provides two main features: visual acuity testing and astigmatism testing, which can be accessed independently by users through digital devices such as laptops, tablets, or mobile phones. Users only need to follow the visual instructions presented interactively on the screen, then perform the test according to the procedure. The testing method is carried out by displaying font size settings according to the Snellen chart standard and radial astigmatism patterns. The results of each test session are automatically recorded and can be saved for further analysis. In addition, users can perform repeated tests to improve the accuracy of self-diagnosis, and the system will provide lens type recommendations based on the measurement results obtained. The trial results show that this application is able to provide convenience, efficiency, and initial accuracy in the process of examining vision disorders. This is very useful, especially for people in remote areas or with limited access to professional eye health services. Thus, the Digital Optoscope-based Eye Diagnostic application has the potential to be an innovative solution for the early digital detection of vision disorders. This study recommends further development, particularly in clinical validation, testing on a wider sample size, and integration with electronic medical record systems to enhance its benefits in comprehensive public health services. Furthermore, collaboration with medical professionals is crucial to ensure diagnostic accuracy. With this approach, the app is expected to become a reliable tool for continuous eye health monitoring.

Diabetic retinopathy is a microvascular complication that often occurs in people with type 2 diabetes mellitus and is a major cause of blindness in older adults and the elderly. This study aims to describe the characteristics of diabetic retinopathy in people with type 2 diabetes mellitus through a literature review of 10 journals published between 2022 and 2025. The results of the analysis show that the prevalence of diabetic retinopathy globally reaches 35%, with the main risk factors including long duration of diabetes (>5 years), high HbA1c levels (>7%), and poor glycemic control. The majority of cases of diabetic retinopathy are found in the non-proliferative stage (65%), which is characterized by microaneurysms and retinal hemorrhages, while the proliferative stage is less common but has a high risk of causing blindness. The study also revealed that patients with comorbidities such as hypertension and dyslipidemia tend to experience more severe diabetic retinopathy. Further stages of diabetic retinopathy if not managed properly can cause vision-threatening conditions. However, low patient compliance in metabolic control and eye examination is a major challenge. Management of diabetic retinopathy requires a holistic approach that includes patient education, regular screening, and comprehensive risk factor control to prevent progression of diabetic retinopathy and maintain the quality of life of patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus.

Organophosphates are a group of compounds with toxic potential that inhibit cholinesterase, leading to the accumulation of acetylcholine at muscarinic, nicotinic receptors, and the central nervous system, which can result in death. Organophosphates are the most toxic insecticides compared to other types of pesticides and are often responsible for poisoning in humans. The symptoms of organophosphate poisoning vary widely. Each symptom depends largely on persistent acetylcholine stimulation or depression, followed by stimulation of the central and peripheral nervous systems. Early symptoms such as salivation, lacrimation, urination, and diarrhea (SLUD) occur in acute organophosphate poisoning due to stimulation of muscarinic receptors, leading to an increase in acetylcholine levels in the blood, eyes, and smooth muscles. Management of organophosphate poisoning involves stabilizing the patient, decontamination, and administering antidotes such as antimuscarinic agents, oximes, and anticonvulsants. Complications from organophosphate poisoning include respiratory failure, seizures, aspiration pneumonia, and even death. Postmortem examination of organophosphate poisoning may reveal cyanosis on the lips, fingertips, and nails, systemic or pulmonary congestion, dilation of the right heart, dark bluish-red livor mortis that forms more quickly, and a wider distribution of livor mortis due to high carbon dioxide levels.

Myopia or nearsightedness is a visual impairment whose prevalence is increasing, especially among adolescents living in urban areas. This study aims to analyze the risk factors that contribute to the increasing incidence of myopia in adolescents in urban areas. The risk factors studied include near visual activity, exposure to natural light, duration of digital device use, reading habits, and genetic and environmental factors. This study design used a cross-sectional approach involving 300 adolescents aged 12-18 years who were randomly selected from several schools in city X. Data were collected through questionnaires that measured visual habits, daily activity patterns, and family health history, and were strengthened by eye refraction examinations by medical personnel. Data analysis was carried out using logistic regression to identify the relationship between risk factors and the incidence of myopia. The results showed that excessive near visual activity, use of digital devices for more than 4 hours per day, and lack of exposure to natural light were significant risk factors for myopia in adolescents. In addition, genetic factors also play an important role in the predisposition of myopia. These findings are expected to provide a deeper understanding of the factors causing myopia among adolescents and become the basis for formulating effective prevention strategies.
