Documentary film scriptwriting is a crucial element in structuring and delivering information coherently to audiences. This article examines the application of expository narrative in the scriptwriting of the documentary film Mindful Sip: Matcha Beyond the Trend, which addresses the social phenomenon of matcha consumption among Generation Z in Indonesia. The creative process was conducted through pre-production, production, and post-production stages, with scriptwriting as the primary focus. The narrative is structured through three sequences aligned with the three-act framework: sequence orientation introduces the matcha phenomenon contextually and factually; sequence development elaborates the issue across social, scientific, and personal dimensions; and Sequence resolution synthesizes the overall exposition while offering a non-judgmental space for audience reflection. The findings indicate that expository narrative, applied through these three sequences, enables coherent, communicative, and critically reflective scriptwriting. This approach demonstrates how documentary scriptwriting can function not merely as a textual framework, but as the primary instrument in constructing meaningful narratives about contemporary social phenomena.

This study examines compounding in exposition texts written by Grade XI students of SMA Swasta Anastasia. The study is motivated by the importance of word formation processes in enriching vocabulary and improving students’ writing skills, particularly in expressing ideas clearly and systematically. This research aims to identify the forms and meanings of compound words used in students’ exposition texts. A qualitative descriptive method with content analysis was employed, and the data were analyzed based on the concept of compounding in morphological studies. The findings reveal that students use various types of compound words, including noun–noun combinations, adjective–noun combinations, and reduplication forms that produce new meanings. The results indicate that compounding contributes to meaning clarification and enhances students’ ability to communicate ideas effectively through written texts. However, students’ competence in using compound words is still developing and influenced by their linguistic environment and learning experiences. This study contributes to morphology research and Indonesian language education by highlighting the role of word formation in students’ writing development.

This research focuses on the correlation between students’ reading habit and their reading comprehension in analytical exposition texts of eleventh grade students at SMA PGRI Pekanbaru. This research was motivated by the fact that some students face difficulties in reading English texts due to a lack of reading habit and challenges in understanding English texts, especially analytical exposition texts. This research employed a correlational design. The sample consisted of 37 eleventh grade students of SMA PGRI Pekanbaru in the academic year 2024/2025, selected through total sampling technique. To collect the data, the researcher used a questionnaire to measure students’ reading habit and an objective test to assess their comprehension of analytical exposition texts. Pearson Product-Moment correlation analysis showed a correlation coefficient (r_xy) of 0.501, indicating a moderate positive correlation between the two variables. With a significance value of 0.001, which is lower than 0.05, the correlation was statistically significant. Furthermore, since the r_value (0.501) was greater than the r_table value (0.344) for 37 respondents at the 5% significance level, the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted. These findings indicate that students with better reading habits tend to have higher comprehension in understanding analytical exposition texts.

This study aims to develop and evaluate the feasibility of PEMAPOSI (Pemahaman Eksposisi), an interactive digital learning media designed to improve fourth-grade students’ comprehension of exposition texts. The study employed a Research and Development (R&D) method using the ADDIE model, which includes analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation stages. The media was developed in the form of an interactive flipbook integrating local cultural elements and was implemented in an elementary school setting. Data were collected through validation sheets and questionnaires involving media experts, material experts, teachers, and students. The results showed that PEMAPOSI obtained a validity score of 93.5% from media experts and 89.5% from material experts, both categorized as “very valid.” User response results also indicated a high level of practicality, with teacher and student assessments reaching 91.6% and 87.5% respectively. These findings indicate that PEMAPOSI is feasible, practical, and effective as a learning medium to support students’ understanding of exposition texts in elementary schools. The integration of interactive features and local cultural elements contributes positively to student engagement and learning outcomes.

This study aims to investigate the effectiveness of using Trello as a learning tool in project-based learning (PjBL) to improve senior high school students' hortatory exposition text writing skills. The research employed a quasi-experimental method with a pretest-posttest control group design. It was conducted in one of the senior high schools located in Sidoarjo, Indonesia. The total population of the study consisted of 202 students, from which a sample of 60 students was selected using purposive sampling. The sample was divided equally into two groups: an experimental group and a control group. The experimental group was taught using Trello as part of the PjBL approach, while the control group received instruction through a conventional learning method. The instruments used to gather data were writing essay tests and a writing assessment rubric. Data were collected through pretests and posttests to assess students' writing performance. The statistical analysis showed that there were significant differences in the writing outcomes between the two groups. The experimental group’s mean pretest score was 64.50, which improved to 91.23 in the posttest. Meanwhile, the control group’s pretest score averaged 64.37 and increased to 83.80 in the posttest. Notably, the improvement in the experimental group was more substantial, particularly in the areas of content development and text organization. These findings indicate that integrating Trello into a project-based learning framework can significantly enhance students’ abilities in writing hortatory exposition texts. In conclusion, the use of Trello as a collaborative digital platform within PjBL has a positive impact on students’ writing skills and can serve as an effective learning tool in EFL writing classrooms.

Another aim is to find out how the problem-based learning model (PBL) and the SAVI (Somatic, Auditory, Visual and Intellectual) learning model have an impact on the exposition text. This research involved all students in class X SMA N 14 Medan, with a simple random sample, consisting of 36 students in class X-1 and 36 students in class X-2. A two-group post-test experimental method was used and the research instrument was an expository text writing test. The "t" test data is used to test the hypothesis. The results show that students' ability to write expository texts using the PBL learning model is in the fair category with an average score of 70.36, while their ability with the SAVI learning model is in the very good category with an average score of 89.36. Furthermore, the results of the hypothesis test show that the null hypothesis (H0) is rejected, and the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted, because tcount is greater than ttable, namely 9.82 is greater than 1.934. Thus, it can be concluded that the expository text writing skills of class X SMA N 14 Medan students are greatly influenced by the use of the SAVI learning model.
