Anxiety disorders are common mental health problems among adolescents, particularly high school students who face academic demands, social pressure, and emotional changes. Family support, sleep quality, and academic stress are considered factors related to students’ anxiety levels. This study aimed to examine the relationship between family support, sleep quality, academic stress, and anxiety disorders among students of SMAN 1 Sumbawa Besar. An analytical study with a cross-sectional design was conducted involving 114 students selected through stratified random sampling. Data were collected using the Perceived Social Support–Family (PSS-Fa), Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI), Educational Stress Scale for Adolescence (ESSA), and Depression Anxiety Stress Scale (DASS-42). Bivariate analysis was performed using the chi-square test, while multivariate analysis employed binary logistic regression. Bivariate results indicated significant associations between family support, sleep quality, academic stress, and anxiety disorders (p < 0.05). However, multivariate analysis revealed that only family support and sleep quality were significantly associated with anxiety disorders, while academic stress was not significant after controlling for other variables. These findings suggest that anxiety prevention efforts should prioritize strengthening family support and improving sleep quality, alongside academic stress management within the school environment.

This study aims to examine the relationship between family support and depression levels among the elderly in Pejuang Village, Bekasi City, through a descriptive-narrative literature review. The review analyzed relevant scientific articles discussing family support, social support, and depression in older adults. Literature was selected based on the suitability of the elderly population, the presence of family or social support variables, and the measurement of depressive symptoms or depression levels. The analysis compared each article’s objectives, research design, respondent characteristics, instruments, findings, and conclusions. The results indicate that most studies found a relationship between family support or social support and depression among the elderly. Adequate family support, including emotional, instrumental, informational, and appraisal support, helps older adults feel cared for, valued, secure, and better able to adapt to the aging process. Preliminary findings at the Elderly Posyandu in Pejuang Village also show variations in family support and depression levels among elderly participants. Conversely, limited family support may increase loneliness, psychological distress, and depressive symptoms. Therefore, family support functions as a protective factor in reducing depression risk among older adults. Strengthening the involvement of families, health workers, and elderly posyandu cadres is necessary as a promotive and preventive strategy to maintain psychological well-being through education, early detection, and sustainable community-based assistance for vulnerable elderly groups living in community and family environments.

Maternal Mortality Rate (MMR) remains a major global health issue that requires serious attention. Based on the Indonesian Health Survey (Survei Kesehatan Indonesia/SKI), Indonesia’s MMR in 2022 was recorded at 195 per 100,000 live births and decreased to 189 per 100,000 live births in 2023. Although this decline indicates some progress, the figure remains far from the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) target of fewer than 70 maternal deaths per 100,000 live births by 2030. Therefore, various promotive and preventive efforts are needed to reduce MMR, one of which is by improving pregnant women’s compliance in attending antenatal classes. This study aimed to examine the relationship between pregnant women’s knowledge and family support and their compliance in attending antenatal classes in the working area of Sinaboi Public Health Center. This research employed a quantitative analytic method with a cross-sectional design. The total number of respondents was 136 pregnant women. The results of the univariate analysis showed that 78 respondents (57.4%) had good knowledge, 74 respondents (54.9%) received family support, and 106 respondents (78.0%) were compliant in attending antenatal classes. The Chi-square test results indicated a significant relationship between pregnant women’s knowledge and compliance in attending antenatal classes (p-value = 0.03), as well as a significant relationship between family support and pregnant women’s compliance in attending antenatal classes (p-value = 0.02). This study is expected to serve as a reference for health workers and future researchers in enhancing education and family involvement to encourage active and regular participation of pregnant women in antenatal classes.

Diabetes mellitus is a chronic disease with a steadily increasing prevalence in Indonesia. This condition not only affects physical health but also requires patients to make significant lifestyle changes to maintain stable blood glucose levels. Efforts to adopt a healthy lifestyle such as regulating diet, exercising regularly, and managing stress are often met with various challenges. In this context, family support plays a crucial role in helping patients adapt and remain consistent in self-management. This study aims to describe the experiences of type 2 diabetes patients in maintaining a healthy lifestyle and the forms of family support they receive. A qualitative phenomenological approach was used, involving three participants undergoing outpatient treatment at RSUD Sultan Iskandar Muda Nagan Raya. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation, then analyzed thematically. The findings show that patients face challenges in maintaining dietary control, consistent exercise, and emotional balance. However, family support such as reminding patients to take medication, providing healthy meals, and offering emotional motivation serves as a key factor that strengthens patients’ commitment to a healthy lifestyle. The study concludes that the success of diabetes management is highly influenced by active family involvement. Therefore, educational and health intervention programs should integrate families as essential partners in supporting patients with diabetes.

Pulmonary tuberculosis (TB) remains a major public health problem in Indonesia. Despite the implementation of national TB control programs through the Directly Observed Treatment Shortcourse (DOTS) strategy, treatment success continues to face significant challenges, particularly related to patient adherence to anti-tuberculosis drug (ATD) therapy. Non-adherence to TB treatment can lead to treatment failure, disease relapse, and the development of drug-resistant tuberculosis, thereby increasing the overall burden of the disease.Treatment adherence in TB patients is influenced not only by medical factors but also by social and behavioral determinants. Family support plays a crucial role in encouraging patients to comply with treatment regimens by providing motivation, reminding medication schedules, and offering emotional support throughout the long duration of therapy. Patients who receive adequate family support tend to demonstrate higher levels of treatment adherence compared to those with limited support. In addition, the use of herbal medicine as a preventive and supportive health measure is common among the Indonesian population. Herbal medicine is often utilized to enhance immune function, reduce medication side effects, and improve patient comfort during TB treatment. However, the use of herbal remedies without proper medical guidance may lead to misconceptions regarding standard TB therapy. Therefore, it is important to examine the relationship between family support and the use of herbal medicine as preventive measures with treatment adherence among pulmonary TB patients in primary healthcare settings. Such evidence is expected to support a comprehensive family medicine approach and strengthen TB control programs in primary care services.

Self-harm among adolescents is a mental health problem influenced by various psychosocial factors, including family support. The family serves as the primary support system that can protect adolescents from the effects of stress and maladaptive coping behaviors. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between family support and the incidence of self-harm among adolescents. The study employed an analytic quantitative design with a cross-sectional approach. The research sample consisted of 476 adolescents selected using a cluster random sampling technique. Family support was measured using the Perceived Social Support–Family (PSS-Fa) questionnaire, while the incidence of self-harm was assessed using the Self-harm Inventory (SHI). Data were analyzed using the Spearman Rank test. The results showed that the majority of respondents had high levels of family support (65.8%) and did not engage in self-harm (78.2%). Bivariate analysis indicated a significant relationship between family support and the incidence of self-harm among adolescents (p < 0.001), where adolescents with high family support were more likely to be in the non–self-harm category, while mild and severe self-harm were more commonly found among adolescents with low family support. This study concludes that family support plays an important role as a protective factor against self-harm among adolescents. Strengthening the role of the family should be a key focus in family-based nursing interventions for the prevention of mental health problems in adolescents.

Diabetes mellitus is the second leading cause of death worldwide after cardiovascular disease. This condition causes physical and psychological burdens. Quality of life is influenced by various aspects, including the ongoing special needs of diabetes mellitus patients. Family support is a form of assistance provided by family members to provide physical and psychological comfort when someone is ill. This study aims to determine the relationship between family support and quality of life of diabetes mellitus patients at Santa Elisabeth Hospital Medan in 2024. This type of research is quantitative with a correlational design and a cross-sectional approach. The sampling technique used purposive sampling with a sample size of 80 respondents. Inclusion criteria included patients who had been diagnosed with diabetes mellitus for more than one year, were accompanied by their family, and were able to communicate in Indonesian. Data collection was conducted using the HDFSS questionnaire and the DQOL questionnaire. The results showed high family support and a high quality of life for diabetes mellitus patients. The Spearman statistical test produced a p-value of 0.048 and a correlation of 0.222. Thus, there is a positive relationship between family support and quality of life for diabetes mellitus patients. Background: The frequency of hypertension continues to increase in line with the low compliance of hypertension sufferers in carrying out their treatment, one of which is a hypertension diet. Family support plays a crucial role in increasing self-confidence, motivation, and life satisfaction of hypertension sufferers. Family involvement in health education programs helps patients with their needs met, understanding when to seek medical help, and support for treatment compliance, which can prevent recurrence and serious complications due to hypertension. In addition, compliance with a hypertension diet is very important to keep blood pressure stable. A good understanding of the benefits of diet and the role of family and health workers in providing support can increase diet compliance. Conversely, low understanding can reduce awareness of the importance of diet, potentially causing ongoing complications. Therefore, hypertension management strategies must involve family support and education about the right diet to achieve optimal health outcomes. This study was conducted to analyze the Relationship Between Family Support and Diet Compliance in the Elderly in Controlling Hypertension at the Kedungmundu Health Center. Methods: This study uses a quantitative method with a correlational approach. Data were collected through demographic questionnaires, family support, and hypertension diet compliance, with a study sample consisting of 90 people using random sampling techniques. Somers' D test was chosen as the statistical analysis method for this research data. Results: Based on the study, it was found that some respondents received quite good family support, with a total of 57 people (63.3%) and were quite compliant with dietary compliance as many as 57 people (63.3%). The results of the Somers' D test showed that the significance value of p = 0.000 <α (0.05), so H0 was rejected. Conclusion: Based on the data analysis, the conclusion obtained is that there is a relationship between family support and dietary compliance in the elderly in controlling hypertension at the Kedungmundu Health Center, Semarang City.
