Human personality is diverse and influences the way people act, think, and interact in daily life. These differences also appear in literature, especially in drama, where characters reveal their traits through dialogue, actions, and conflicts. This study aims to analyze the personality of Othello in William Shakespeare’s Othello using the Big Five Personality Traits (OCEAN). This research employs a qualitative descriptive method with data taken from selected dialogues and monologues that reflect Othello’s personality. The data were categorized into five dimensions: Openness, Conscientiousness, Extraversion, Agreeableness, and Neuroticism. The findings show that Neuroticism (30.77%) is the most dominant trait in Othello’s character, followed by Extraversion (23.08%), Agreeableness (15.38%), Conscientiousness (15.38%), and Openness (15.38%). These traits influence his decisions, relationships, and eventual downfall, indicating that emotional instability and insecurity play a crucial role in the tragic development of the play. This study demonstrates how universal personality traits shape human behavior and conflict in Shakespeare’s drama and shows that modern psychological frameworks can be effectively applied to classical literature.

The rapid growth of social media has significantly influenced the psychological dynamics of adolescents, particularly regarding their mental health. This study aims to examine the relationship between the five dimensions of the Big Five personality traits (neuroticism, extraversion, openness, agreeableness, and conscientiousness) and adolescent mental health in the digital era. Using a qualitative method with a literature review approach, the study analyzed various recent scientific sources. The findings indicate that certain personality traits, such as high neuroticism, are positively correlated with mental health issues, while others, like extraversion and conscientiousness, serve as protective factors. The interaction between personality traits and social media usage patterns also affects adolescents' levels of stress, anxiety, and tendencies toward negative behaviors such as FOMO and digital addiction. These results highlight the importance of a personalized approach in supporting adolescents, involving parents, teachers, and counselors, to prevent psychological disorders and promote mental well-being based on individual personality characteristics.

This study examines this description of personality through the lens of the Big Five personality model (OCEAN: Openness to Experience, Conscientiousness, Extraversion, Agreeableness, and Neuroticism). By examining how the characters interact and behave, this study aims to identify the ways in which the characters display the characteristics associated with each of the Five Five personality traits. Using a descriptive method, the analysis focuses on the dialogue and monologues of the characters, supplemented by extensive library research on personality psychology, the Big Five Personality theory, and cinematic analysis. The study found that the characters in this movie possess characteristics related to the Big Five pattern, which can be seen in their actions, speech and behavior throughout the film. The results showed that openness to experience, extraversion, and neuroticism were the most prominent traits, while conscientiousness and flexibility were less common. It is important to understand how people affect people, because it determines how people act and how they treat others. Examining the characters in this movie not only enhances the viewing experience of the film, but also enhances the value of the Big Five model for analyzing characters in various literary and film works.
