Lifestyle changes, such as smoking habits, low physical activity, and suboptimal sleep patterns, have the potential to affect various health indicators. However, empirical evidence showing a direct link between lifestyle factors and objective health indicators still shows varying results. This study aims to analyze the relationship between lifestyle factors and health indicators in adult respondents, in an effort to provide an empirical picture of behavioral factors related to health conditions. This study used a quantitative approach with a cross-sectional observational analytic design. Data were obtained from 94 respondents who had complete lifestyle data and health examination results. Lifestyle factors analyzed included smoking habits, exercise frequency, and sleep duration, while health indicators included body mass index (BMI), systolic and diastolic blood pressure, blood sugar levels, cholesterol, uric acid, and pulse rate. Data analysis was performed using descriptive statistics, the Shapiro–Wilk normality test, and the Spearman correlation test according to the characteristics of the data distribution. The results showed that smoking habits were significantly associated with diastolic blood pressure (p < 0.05), exercise frequency was significantly associated with BMI and systolic blood pressure (p < 0.05), and sleep duration was significantly associated with uric acid levels (p < 0.05). Meanwhile, the relationship between lifestyle factors and other health indicators did not show statistical significance. These findings indicate that the influence of lifestyle on health is specific to certain indicators and is not evenly distributed across all health parameters. This study concludes that identifying lifestyle factors relevant to certain health indicators is important as a basis for formulating more targeted health promotion strategies.

Virgin Coconut Oil (VCO) is a high-quality coconut oil that is extracted from fresh coconut meat without the use of high heat or chemicals, preserving its natural nutrients and beneficial properties. The demand for VCO has increased in recent years due to its various health benefits, such as boosting the immune system, improving digestion, and providing antimicrobial effects. The oil is rich in medium-chain fatty acids, particularly lauric acid, which is known for its positive effects on cholesterol levels and cardiovascular health. This study focuses on the production of VCO using a natural fermentation method, a traditional technique that is gaining attention for its simplicity and environmental friendliness. In this method, mature coconut meat is grated and squeezed to extract the coconut milk, which is then fermented at room temperature for 24–48 hours. The fermentation process allows the separation of the oil from the milk, forming a clear oil layer on top, which retains the characteristic aroma of coconut. The quality of the produced VCO was analyzed by determining its acid value and saponification number. The saponification value, which indicates the amount of alkali required to saponify the fat, was found to be 50.49. The acid value, which reflects the free fatty acid content, was measured at 5.61. These results suggest that the VCO produced through natural fermentation is of relatively good quality, with a favorable acid value indicating lower rancidity. Overall, the study demonstrates that natural fermentation is an efficient, eco-friendly, and cost-effective alternative for VCO production. This method not only preserves the natural properties of the coconut oil but also offers a sustainable approach to producing high-quality oil for various health and cosmetic applications.

Successful development encompasses various aspects of community life and cannot be separated from progress in the health sector. Health is one of the key indicators in determining the quality of life of a population. Therefore, attention to health—especially for vulnerable groups such as the elderly—is of great importance. Regular health check-ups serve as a preventive measure to help the community detect illnesses early and encourage individuals to take an active role in maintaining their own health. Several types of examinations are commonly provided free of charge during community service activities, including blood pressure checks, random blood glucose tests, uric acid level tests, and cholesterol level screenings. These health checks are especially beneficial for the elderly, as they help monitor overall health conditions and enable early management of diseases to prevent further complications. In this activity, a total of 40 elderly individuals voluntarily participated in the health screening. The methods used included health education sessions and direct examinations of blood pressure, uric acid levels, and random blood glucose levels. The counseling was delivered using simple and clear language, and it included a question-and-answer session to help participants better understand the information provided. The results of the examinations showed that some of the elderly participants had high blood pressure and elevated blood glucose levels, which led to recommendations for follow-up visits to nearby healthcare facilities. Through this health screening initiative, the overall health quality of the elderly participants improved, and their awareness of the importance of early detection increased. This activity is expected to motivate the broader community to pay more attention to their health and to undergo regular health check-ups. By taking a proactive role in managing their well-being, individuals can reduce the risk of serious complications in the future and contribute to the creation of a healthier society overall.

Uric acid is the final product of purine metabolism, which can increase due to high purine intake or impaired renal excretion. Accumulation of uric acid in the body is at risk of causing joint inflammation and other metabolic disorders. Early detection and dietary education are strategic steps to prevent complications of hyperuricemia. This activity uses the Plan-Do-Check-Act (PDCA) approach by examining uric acid levels using POCT and education on managing purine consumption. The examination was carried out on 62 adult participants. Educational leaflets were delivered directly and individually to each participant. All participants had uric acid levels in the normal range (median 4.2 mg/dL), with the lowest value of 3.5 mg/dL and the highest 6.5 mg/dL. Most participants were women and were in the middle to elderly age group. Although no cases of hyperuricemia were identified, preventive education remains essential to maintain uric acid levels within optimal ranges and reduce future metabolic risks. Lifestyle interventions focusing on diet and hydration are critical for sustainable uric acid control and long-term health outcomes.   Keywords: Uric Acid, Purine, Hyperuricemia, Diet, Nutrition Education

The aim of this study is to show the yield, quality, and the fatty acids composition of VCO produced from coconut growing in several location having different altitudes in West Timor. In addition, it also determined the correlation between the yield, quality, and the composition at one side and the altitude at other side.   The coconut samples were taken from six locations at different altitudes. Virgin coconut oil is fermented using baker's yeast (Saccharomyces cerevisiae). The oil yield was calculated based on the oil volume ratio to the coconut cream volume, and the composition of fatty acid was then determined by a gas chromatography-mass spectrophotometer (GC-MS). The results showed that the quality of VCO obtained in this study is very good based on Indonesian National Standard (SNI) No. 7381:2008. The higher the growing location of coconut, the oil yield decreases slightly, the peroxide number increases slightly, the water content and free fatty acids are decrease. The correlation between the altitude of the coconut growing location and the fatty acid composition: lauric acid (strong and positive); palmitic and oleic acids (strong and negative); linoleic acid (very strong and negative); capric, myristic, and stearic acids (very weak and negative).

Gouty arthritis or gout is a joint disease caused by high levels of purines in the blood. A person is said to be suffering from gout if the uric acid level in their body exceeds the normal limit, the normal limit is 7 mg/dL for men and less than 6 mg/dL for women. Excessive uric acid can cause a buildup of purines in the joints and other body organs, causing pain and inflammation in the joints. This condition can make the joints feel painful when moved and can also cause joint abnormalities and disabilities (Efendi et al., 2022). In Central Java, the prevalence of gout sufferers is approximately 2.6 - 47.2%, which varies in various populations (Zakiudin et al., 2024). Based on data from the Kecipir Community Health Center, the prevalence of gouty arthritis at the Kecipir Community Health Center in 2023 will reach 13.67%. The utilization of coal as a fossil fuel causes several ecological problems, as for the consequences of the coal combustion process, namely pollution and emissions. Combustion of high sulfur coal produces sulfur dioxide gas (SO2). This sulfur dioxide (SO2) will become H2SO4 (sulfuric acid) which can directly or indirectly disrupt human life, such as causing acid rain, causing tightness in the respiratory tract and causing corrosion and shortening the life of factory equipment. To reduce SO2 gas, a reduction in sulfur content is carried out before combustion which is called desulfurization. This research was conducted using the leaching method with variations in leaching agent and solution concentration. Leaching agents used in this study are NaOH and HCl. The coal to be desulfurized is coal from PT Anugerah Krida Utama with an initial total sulfur content of 4,05% adb. 10 grams of coal with a size of 0,212 mm was leached with 250 ml of chemical solution using a hot plate stirrer at 80˚C and 250 rpm for 1 hour. The results showed that the optimum condition for leaching agent NaOH occurred at a concentration of 8 M showing the initial total sulfur content of 4,05% adb decreased to 1,69% adb with a maximum percentage decrease of 58,27% and at leaching agent HCl the optimum condition occurred at a concentration of 1 M showing the initial total sulfur content of 4,05% adb decreased to 2,91% adb with a maximum percentage decrease of 28,14%.
