This study aims to determine the parenting style of parents in building children's independence, because the role of parents is very important in building independence in children. Education in early childhood is an effort to stimulate, guide and provide learning aimed at developing skills in children. Parents as caregivers of children must have an understanding of their child's development. The development of children's intelligence at an early age develops optimally at the age of 4 years. Along with these developments, children will actively move, imitate units, or say something to interact with those around them. Therefore, the development of a child is influenced by the treatment of parents and families towards him.

Observing the news of crime committed by minors today certainly raises concerns and unrest in social life. The disturbing behavior of children, such as the behavior of children away from religious teachings, disrespecting their parents, dressing inappropriately, saying dirty words, smoking, and the most troubling thing is that children are now involved in criminal acts. This issue has become a hot topic that is often reported on television, such as news about crimes committed by students, violence against friends, brawls, rape, and even murder. Responding to the negative behaviors of children that often appear in the news of child crimes need special attention. Therefore, as a form of attention, it is necessary to first understand the condition of the child himself and his relationship with the surrounding environment, both parents and family as well as the school as the smallest unit in society that has the responsibility to help children grow and develop optimally. Parents are the first people to be known by children, the first people to give life understanding to children, so parents play an important role in the formation of children's character. However, ironically, the family becomes a source of threat and unrest for children, because of the wrong treatment given by parents to children. Basically, the relationship between children and their parents is an emotional and cognitive source for children. These relationships provide opportunities for children to explore the environment, including school and social life, and children's early relationships can serve as models for later relationships. This initial relationship begins when the child is born into the world, in fact it has started since the fetus was in the womb (Sutcliffe, 2002: 15).1. Furthermore, the role of Christian Religious Education is an effort made by educators continuously to equip students with sources of faith. Character formation is very important in the educational process which is a process of internalizing the values of the Christian faith through education. So that the personality or noble character of students is formed through habituation that is constantly practiced, without stopping.

Information related to the characteristics of the learning styles of students to be taught is very important for lecturers to improve the quality of their learning. Students will also find it easier to motivate themselves in learning. There are 3 learning styles such as visual, audio and kinesthetic where each style gives characteristics to the child. , the task of parents is to observe the child and then learn how to deal with the pattern of educating him at home. Habituation in education is very much needed because psychologically, students model more behavior or figures they idolize, including their teachers. Habituation is also no less important in learning activities. The method of habituation given by means of getting used to the behavior or moral attitude of the child repeatedly and continuously. In addition to the habituation carried out by teachers in schools, the role of parents is actually important for children's habituation in practicing Islamic teachings that have been taught through habituation in schools, but this role will not be maximized when parental involvement is not full on the development of children's behavior and morals.

Christian education plays a very important role and is the main basis in the family to educate and develop children's character into individuals who fear God (Proverbs 1:7). Character is a way of thinking and behaving that is characteristic of each individual to live together, both within the family and society. Individuals with good character are individuals who can make decisions and are ready to be responsible for every consequence of the decisions they make. For this reason, the Christian education pattern is very important to be a foothold in training children's character. Specifically, the Christian education pattern is one of the education patterns that teaches the Word of God so that children have guidelines in their lives and ultimately they experience changes in terms of character, behavior and actions. There are various forms of education patterns used by parents in educating children. Among them are 3 forms of education patterns discussed in this thesis, namely authoritarian, democratic and Laisses Faire education patterns. Where this education pattern is used by parents to shape the character of children, but without Christian education, the character of children will remain rotten. For families, they must provide Christian education from an early age to their children so that their character is formed well. Because the family is the main institution in educating children, the most successful child education is if parents walk according to the standards set by God. For Christian parents, the result of education is that our children have respect for God, for us as parents, for the church, and for the country.
