Drug abuse among adolescents has been increasing, including among youth in Papua. According to data from the National Narcotics Agency (BNN) of Papua Province, there was a 1.73% increase in 2023. One of the contributing factors to adolescent involvement in drug abuse is low self-control. This study aimed to provide self-control training to help prevent drug abuse among adolescents independently. The program involved 37 vocational high school students in Jayapura City and employed a one-group pretest–posttest experimental design without a control group. The intervention consisted of self-control training delivered through lectures, discussions, and a structured learning module. The results indicated a significant improvement in self-control before and after the intervention, as evidenced by a significance value of 0.000 (p < 0.05) using a paired sample t-test, with an increase in the mean pre-test score (M = 46; SD = 7) to the mean post-test score (M = 48; SD = 6). These findings suggest that students of SMK Negeri 9 Jayapura experienced an improvement in self-control after participating in the training. Practically, this study demonstrates that self-control training can serve as an effective psychological intervention to address drug abuse and harmful substance use among adolescents. This intervention not only helps reduce addictive behaviors but also has the potential to enhance students’ quality of life and academic achievement.

Drug abuse (NAPZA) has become a serious threat among students and poses significant risks to their physical health, psychological well-being, and future development. Therefore, preventive efforts through structured education and mentoring programs are essential. This community service activity aims to describe the process and outcomes of a drug abuse prevention mentoring program conducted at SMP Negeri 2 Bulu, Temanggung. The program applied a participatory approach consisting of four stages: coordination with the school, educational socialization on the dangers of drugs, follow-up activities through discussions and student reflections, and evaluation to measure students’ understanding. The educational sessions were delivered using interactive lectures, question-and-answer methods, and visual learning media to enhance students’ engagement and comprehension. The results indicate an increase in students’ knowledge and awareness regarding the types, impacts, and prevention strategies of drug abuse. Moreover, students demonstrated more positive attitudes and a stronger commitment to avoiding drugs as a form of self-protection for their health and future. This program is expected to serve as a school-based preventive education model to reduce drug abuse among students through collaboration between teachers, schools, and the wider community.

Drug abuse among university students is a problem that needs serious attention because it can damage health, reduce academic achievement, and hinder the future of the younger generation. University students are in a phase of self-discovery, making them susceptible to unhealthy environments and social circles. Therefore, comprehensive drug prevention efforts are needed in higher education settings. This article discusses various forms of drug prevention among students through education, character building, and active student involvement in positive activities. The method used is a literature review from various relevant sources. The results of the discussion show that drug prevention can be effective if supported by cooperation between the campus, families, and students. Education about the dangers of drugs, strengthening moral values, and creating a safe and healthy campus environment are important steps in preventing drug abuse. With continuous prevention efforts, it is hoped that students will be able to protect themselves from the influence of drugs and play a role as a healthy, accomplished, and responsible young generation.

Adolescent drug abuse remains a major public health concern with adverse consequences for health, social functioning, and educational attainment. Limited knowledge and poor refusal skills in the face of environmental pressure are key risk factors. This study assessed the outcomes of a school-based Participatory Action Research (PAR) intervention aimed at improving students’ knowledge and preventive attitudes toward drug abuse. The program was implemented at Madrasah Aliyah Manaratul Islam, Jakarta (August 2025), involving 57 students. The educational intervention combined interactive counseling, small-group discussions, and role-play simulations, followed by pre–post evaluation using the same questionnaire and quantitative analysis with the Wilcoxon signed-rank test. Results demonstrated a statistically significant improvement in post-test scores compared with pre-test scores (Z = −3.506; p < 0.001; r = 0.46), with a mean paired difference (pre–post) of −0.877 indicating a positive shift after the intervention. Descriptively, the proportion of students classified with high awareness increased to 87.7% after the program, while mean knowledge scores rose from 63.2% to 85.5%. Qualitative feedback further suggested better understanding of physical and psychological harms, increased confidence to refuse illicit substances, and more active communication with peers and teachers. Overall, the PAR-based school intervention effectively strengthened students’ drug-abuse prevention literacy and readiness and may be scalable to similar school settings.

This community service activity was carried out to increase students' understanding of the dangers of drug abuse and its impact on academic achievement and the future of the younger generation at SMK Negeri 1 Pagelaran. The problem of low student awareness and limited access to accurate information about drugs was the main background for this activity. The community service program was designed using interactive socialization and education methods that included direct counseling, educational video screenings, group discussions, and the provision of supporting media in the form of leaflets as a means of reinforcing the material. The results of the activity showed an increase in students' knowledge and understanding regarding the risks of drug abuse, particularly its impact on decreased learning concentration, physical and mental health disorders, and weakened motivation and academic achievement. In addition, students showed high enthusiasm during the activity and were able to identify internal and external factors that can encourage and prevent involvement in drug abuse. This activity made a positive contribution to the school as a preventive effort and became the basis for the development of a sustainable and more comprehensive drug prevention program.

This study aims to analyze the implementation of the policy on drug abuse education programs for students in Senior High Schools. The main focus of this research is to examine the extent to which government and institutional policies have been effectively implemented within the school environment. The problem identified in the field indicates that the implementation of anti-drug education programs has not been optimal, due to limited coordination among stakeholders, inadequate resources, and the low level of teacher and student participation in preventive activities. This research employed a qualitative descriptive approach with a case study design conducted in several Senior High Schools that implemented drug abuse education programs. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and document analysis. The research questions focused on: (1) how the policy on drug abuse education programs is implemented in schools; (2) what factors support and hinder its implementation; and (3) how the implementation of the policy affects students’ understanding and attitudes toward drug abuse prevention. The results revealed that the policy implementation was partial and not yet fully integrated into the curriculum or school culture. The main supporting factors included the strong commitment of school principals and partnerships with the National Narcotics Board (BNN), while the main inhibiting factors were limited human resources, weak policy monitoring, and a lack of contextualized educational materials. Nevertheless, the program has had a positive impact on improving students’ awareness and preventive attitudes toward drug abuse, especially when activities were conducted collaboratively and sustainably.

Drug abuse among university students is a serious phenomenon that affects the social, moral, and intellectual aspects of the younger generation. Students, who are ideally positioned as agents of change and drivers of national development, are often found to be vulnerable to drug abuse. This study aims to analyze the implementation of Law No. 35 of 2009 on Narcotics in preventing drug abuse among university students in Lampung Province, as well as to identify its inhibiting factors. The research employs a normative juridical and empirical juridical approach, using primary and secondary data obtained through interviews, field studies, and literature reviews. Key informants include the Narcotics Directorate of the Lampung Regional Police, P4GN Unila, the Vice-Rector III for Student Affairs and Alumni at Unila, and lecturers from the Criminal Law Department at Unila. The findings show that the Lampung Regional Police have implemented preventive strategies such as counseling, campaigns, urine tests, and drug abuse education on campuses, as well as repressive strategies through law enforcement against students involved in narcotics distribution, with 283 recorded cases over the past five years. However, the effectiveness of implementation is still hindered by limited campus facilities (counseling centers, safe reporting systems), the lack of regulatory responsiveness to digital challenges, and low student trust in law enforcement. Therefore, prevention efforts need to be strengthened through cross-sectoral synergy, policy updates, and the enhancement of the role of universities in creating a safe, healthy, and drug-free campus environment.

Drug abuse among Indonesian teenagers continues to rise and poses a significant challenge to the development of the nation's future generation. Limited knowledge about legal and health issues makes students vulnerable to the negative impacts of narcotics. This initiative aims to provide legal education and information on the medical effects of drugs to students at SMPN 1 Kopo, Garut. The outreach program was conducted face-to-face using an interactive approach, including presentations, educational videos, and two-way discussions. The results showed an increase in student participation and understanding of the dangers of drugs, as well as legal awareness. This activity demonstrates that a collaborative educational approach can build resilience among teenagers in facing environmental pressures and encourage the creation of change agents within the school environment. The program is expected to serve as the first step toward long-term collaboration between educational institutions, law enforcement agencies, and the community in preventive anti-drug efforts. It is hoped that with closer collaboration, the younger generation will be better educated and protected from the dangers of drugs, and will contribute to creating a healthier, drug-free environment. This program is also a model that can be applied in other schools as part of a broader effort to prevent drug abuse within the community. By strengthening the understanding of legal consequences and health risks, this program can also act as a preventive measure, fostering a safer environment for students and promoting greater community engagement in combating drug-related issues, ensuring a sustainable impact on the community’s future. It is essential for such initiatives to be continuously reinforced and expanded to reach more schools and communities, thereby creating a more extensive network of awareness and prevention.

The abuse of Narcotics, Psychotropics, and Addictive Substances among the younger generation is a serious issue that threatens the future of the nation. This abuse has significant negative impacts on the mental and physical development of the younger generation. Therefore, prevention efforts through education, routine counseling, and positive activities in the community are crucial. The rampant abuse of Narcotics, Psychotropics, and other Addictive Substances among students and college students has become a new problem in the education sector. According to a survey conducted by the National Narcotics Agency (BNN) and the Indonesian Institute of Sciences (LIPI) in 2019, 2.3 million students or college students in Indonesia have consumed narcotics. The lack of knowledge and information among students about the effects of drug abuse is a major factor in the spread of this issue. The approach to implementing community service is carried out in several stages, including initial surveys, problem identification, needs analysis, target audience determination, and program implementation. Based on the community service activities carried out, the benefits are greatly felt. This is evident from the enthusiasm of the participants in engaging in the community service activities. The author would like to express their deepest gratitude to the Principal of SMAN 1 Kutacane, Southeast Aceh Regency, who has provided time and space and fully supported this community service activity so that it could be carried out successfully.
