One of the problems during the postpartum period is swollen breasts or breast milk retention. The cause of breast milk dams is breast milk that is not released immediately, causing the breasts to swell. Breast care during the postpartum period is a necessity for mothers. Breast care during the postpartum period is very important to facilitate the release of breast milk. The government has made various efforts to increase exclusive breastfeeding. In this regard, health education about breast care is an effort to improve mothers' skills in breastfeeding and especially increase breast milk production. The aim of this activity is to provide knowledge and improve postpartum mothers' skills in caring for breasts and then carry out an evaluation of knowledge and skills before and after counseling. The stages consist of a pre-test, followed by a presentation of educational material using lecture methods and breast care practice on teaching aids, followed by a question and answer session and discussion then ending with a participant post-test. The results showed that there was an increase in the level of knowledge and skills of postpartum mothers regarding breast care after the counseling was carried out.

According to WHO data from 2018, the average percentage of women experiencing breast engorgement during breastfeeding reached 87.06% or 8242 women. However, according to a study by the Indonesian Health Research and Development Agency in 2018, the highest incidence of breast engorgement in Indonesia occurred in working mothers, accounting for 6% of breastfeeding mothers. The aim of this literature review is to determine the extent of the influence of breast care on breast engorgement in breastfeeding mothers. This study utilizes a literature review method by collecting and analyzing 10 full-text Indonesian-language journals from 2019 to 2023 from sources available in databases such as Google Scholar using keywords such as breast engorgement, breast care, and breastfeeding. The inclusion criteria for this work are journals that investigate breastfeeding mothers undergoing breast care. Based on the keywords used, 10 journals that meet the criteria were found, and all of them indicate that breast care has an impact on breast engorgement. In the 10 journals reviewed, breast care is identified as one of the dominant factors in breast engorgement incidence because it can facilitate breast milk flow and reduce the likelihood of breast engorgement.

A pregnant woman is a woman who carries a fetus in her womb after being fertilized BACKGROUND by spermatozoa. Pregnancy is a special situation for a woman as a prospective mother, because during pregnancy there will be physical changes that affect her life. During pregnancy, many changes will occur, both physical, social and mental. Pregnant mothers must have adequate nutrition, because the nutrition they get will be used for themselves and their fetus. For pregnant women, basically all nutrients require supplementation, but what is often lacking is protein energy and several minerals such as iron (Pantiawati in Mulyani, 2017). Breast care is a health behavior. Health behavior (according to Skinner) is: "a person's response to stimuli related to illness and disease, the health service system, eating and drinking, and the environment" (Unimus, 2012). Becker describes health behavior into three domains, namely health knowledge, attitudes towards health, and health practices (Wikipedia, 2012). According to Lawrence Green (1980) in Notoadmodjo (2007) there are 2 factors that influence human behavior in terms of health, namely: internal factors which include knowledge, perception, emotions, motivation, socio-economics and culture, and external factors, namely the environment. So far, from the literature that researchers have examined, there have been many studies that discuss breast care behavior, both during the antenatal period and during pregnancy.OBJECTIVE To analyze the relationship between factors that influence pregnant women in carrying out breast care at the Pratama Nirmala Clinic in 2023. METHOD chi square test p value < 0.05 means H0 is rejected and Ha is accepted as a statistical test result of a significant relationship. RESULTS There is a significant relationship between the factors that influence pregnant women in carrying out breast care at the Pratama Nirmala Clinic in 2023. ADVICE is given for research and for research sites and for educational institutions regarding breast care
