This study aims to analyze the novel Laskar Pelangi by Andrea Hirata using a critical hermeneutic approach developed by Jürgen Habermas. The focus of this research is to uncover the critical meaning contained in the novel as a reflection of social reality, especially in the field of education. The method used is descriptive qualitative research with data collection techniques through literature studies and text analysis in the form of excerpts in novels. The results of the study show that the novel Laskar Pelangi not only presents an inspiring story, but also contains criticism of the education system in Indonesia which is still colored by inequality and injustice. In the aspect of communicative action, it was found that there was a dialogical interaction between teachers and students as well as the value of solidarity and strong struggle. However, in the aspect of communication distortion, there is injustice in access to education and a lack of space for poor groups to voice their interests. In addition, the analysis also reveals the existence of ideology and domination, especially economic dominance over education and social systems that oppress the lower groups. On the other hand, the emancipatory interest in this novel is reflected through education as a tool of liberation and the struggle of its characters in fighting against limitations. Thus, this study concludes that the novel Laskar Pelangi has an important role as a social criticism medium that is able to build readers' critical awareness of the reality of education and social inequality that occurs in society.

This research is motivated by the importance of studying characterization in novels as a means of understanding human values ​​and character education relevant to social reality. Tere Liye's novel "Moga Bunda Disayang Allah" presents characters with complex characters that reflect empathy, compassion, and struggles facing limitations and social stigma. This study aims to comprehensively describe the characterization contained in the novel. The method used is a qualitative descriptive method with a structural literary analysis approach, specifically Nurgiyantoro's characterization theory. The research data, consisting of narrative excerpts and dialogues depicting the characters' characters, were collected through reading and note-taking techniques. Then, they were analyzed based on the categories of main and supporting characters, protagonist and antagonist, simple and round characters, static and developing characters, and typical and neutral characters. The results show that this novel displays diverse and dynamic characterization, with most of the characters experiencing significant character development and playing a crucial role in conveying moral values. The implications of this research are expected to enrich the study of Indonesian literature and be used as an alternative teaching material in character education-based literature learning.

This research was conducted to assess the effectiveness of using the Problem Based Learning (PBL) approach in teaching poetry writing in Indonesian language classes. This method was applied to assess the extent of students' mastery of the material and their response to problem-based learning. Based on the results of the questionnaire distributed, it was found that materials such as procedural texts, expository texts, negotiation texts, poetry, drama, and novels are materials that often use the PBL model. The results show that around 75%–80% of students understand learning with the PBL approach and show active and enthusiastic responses during the learning process. However, the implementation of PBL faces a number of obstacles, including limited time allocation and the level of readiness of students in digesting complex problems. Thus, periodic assessment and adaptation of the learning approach are key to optimising the effectiveness of this method.

This study employs the formalism theory. Furthermore, aligning with it, the used of  qualitative method  to embark the information inherently exists as linguistic. It bears relevance to the focus of this research, that being novels, with the researcher endeavoring to scrutinize the characters' perspectives, viewpoints, and conduct within their fictional environment. The novel, The Awakening is utter the journey of unique married woman, Mrs. Edna Pontellier, to unfold the secret of ‘Edna’. From the analysis indicated there were two major ironies which majorly decorated the progress of the story, and those are ‘life and death’ and ‘innocence and maturity’. By bringing ‘Edna’ the main character, into a consciousness, she would awaken from seemingly an innocent woman through challenging journey to acknowledge maturity in herself.  Even though, ironically, in order to maintain her ’life’ in the end she has to face ‘death’ but at least she had been tried to complete her journey to be an whole self.  

This study aims to identify the representation and manifestation of social values contained in the novel “40 Hari Takdir Itu Bernama Hidup dan Mati” (40 Days of Destiny Called Life and Death) by Adeicama. The research method used is a literature study with note-taking techniques on primary data (novels) and secondary data (related literature). Data analysis was conducted using descriptive qualitative methods based on Wirawan's theory of social values, Mulyana's theory of religious values, and Nurgiyantoro's theory of literary analysis. The results show that this novel represents social values through solidarity, caring, responsibility, and criticism of technological dependence. Religious values are manifested through faith in destiny, sincerity in loss, self-control, and the role of prayer and hope. These two aspects of value are interrelated, enriching the meaning of the story and providing an understanding of how humans deal with the uncertainties of life through social norms and spiritual strength. This research contributes to the development of literary studies and literary sociology, and is relevant for increasing public appreciation and critical understanding of the function of literature as a reflection of ethical and social norms.

These characterizations are related to the values ​​that occur in the lives of the characters in the novel Simfoni Persahabatan by Fakhri Violinist. This study uses a qualitative method with a structural approach that focuses on characterization and its relationship to educational values. Data were collected through document study techniques by carefully reading the novel and noting parts related to characterization, then analyzed using content analysis techniques to draw conclusions about the values ​​and messages contained in the novel. The results of the study show that the author successfully presents the characterization of two main characters, namely Nancy who has an arrogant nature and often insults others, and Bintang who is humble and always prays to God. Through the characterization of these two characters, the author conveys various educational values ​​including the value of simplicity, the spirit of pursuing ideals, moral education such as diligent study and humility, character education regarding respect for parents and teachers, the value of hard work, responsibility, patience in facing trials, the importance of admitting mistakes and forgiveness, and friendship. This research contributes to the world of education in utilizing children's literature as a medium for character formation, and provides references in selecting reading materials that suit the needs of children's character development.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the foundation of the novel Suluh Rindu by Habiburrahman El Shirazy, analyze the moral values ​​in the novel Suluh Rindu by Habiburrahman El Shirazy, and study the sociology of literature of the novel Suluh Rindu by Habiburrahman El Shirazy. This study is a qualitative descriptive study. The data in this study are in the form of researcher notes in the form of words, phrases or sentences. The data source in this study is a document in the form of a literary novel entitled Suluh Rindu by Habiburrahman El Shirazy. The data collection technique used in this study is the reading and note-taking technique. The reading technique is carried out by reading the entire novel Suluh Rindu by Habiburrahman El Shirazy. While the recording is done by recording data in the form of words, sentences, and paragraphs that show the content of moral values ​​and religiosity in the novel Suluh Rindu by Habiburrahman El Shirazy. Increasing the degree of trustworthiness in research using triangulation of analysis results. The data analysis technique in this study uses the hermeneutic reading technique, namely reading, noting and drawing conclusions. The results of the study in the form of moral values ​​contained in the novel Suluh Rindu by Habiburrahman El Shirazy are classified into three forms, namely: Human relations with God, Human relations with themselves, and Human relations with other humans. 

Arabic literature has undergone significant development from pre-Islamic times to the modern era, reflecting social, cultural and intellectual changes in Arab civilization. Changes in literary works, whether in the form of poetry, prose, or novels, have also influenced the development of the Arabic language in terms of vocabulary, structure, and style of expression. This study aims to analyze how the evolution of Arabic literature impacts the development of the Arabic language by using qualitative research methods. The approach used is descriptive analysis with library research techniques, where data is collected from various sources, such as classical and modern literary works, academic journals, and previous studies that discuss the relationship between literature and language. The results show that Arabic literature plays a role in the formation of modern Arabic through vocabulary enrichment, syntactic innovation, and the spread of various dialects. In addition, the influence of literature on language is also seen in the context of education and mass media. By understanding the close relationship between literature and language, this research is expected to provide new insights for the study of Arabic linguistics as well as the preservation of literary wealth in language development.

The novel Teruslah Bodoh Jangan Pintar by Tere Liye is one of the novels that has many readers in Indonesia. This study aims to describe the structure and educational values in the novel Teruslah Bodoh Jangan Pintar by Tere Liye. This research uses qualitative method. The data in this study are in the form of sentences in the novel Teruslah Bodoh Jangan Pintar by Tere Liye. The data source in this research is Teruslah Bodoh Jangan Pintar by Tere Liye. The result of this research shows that Teruslah Bodoh Jangan Pintar by Tere Liye has an intact structure as a novel. The structure includes theme, plot, characterisation, setting, language style, point of view, and mandate. Furthermore, the novel Teruslah Bodoh Jangan Pintar by Tere Liye also contains educational values such as the value of loving the environment, honest value, empathy value, responsibility value, courage value, and critical thinking value. Thus, the novel Teruslah Bodoh Jangan Pintar by Tere Liye can be used as an alternative teaching material in schools.

Reading novels that captivate and motivate youngsters is one approach to help them develop positive character traits. This study aims to analyze the different types of characters in Agatha Christie's Mengungkit Murder. By adopting a qualitative approach and descriptive analysis method, this study identifies the characters in the novel and their roles and relationships in the storyline. The research data were obtained through literature study and text analysis, which were then analyzed using content analysis techniques. The results show that the characters in the novel not only serve as plot drivers, but also reflect broader themes, such as justice and betrayal. This research is expected to make a significant contribution to literary studies, especially in understanding characterization in Agatha Christie's works.

In this study, we discuss how social transformation, innovation in publishing technology, and shifts in reader preferences shaped the novel genre from the 18th century to the modern era. A historical approach and literary analysis are used to highlight the important role of publishers, book distribution, and technology in expanding the reach of novels to a wider audience.

The rise of Islamophobia worldwide is often fueled by ignorance and negative stereotypes about Islam. This situation calls for more effective educational efforts to counter misinformation and restore the image of Islam as a blessing for all, or Rahmatan lil 'Alamin. In response to this challenge, da'wah (Islamic preaching) through literature, especially novels, offers a way for readers to gain new perspectives and understand the complexities of religious life through engaging narratives that do not come across as patronizing. This study aims to identify the da'wah messages in Harlis Kurniawan's novel Bujang and Portuguese General and analyze the most dominant themes within the text. The novel serves as a potential medium for educating people, including non-Muslims, about the true teachings of Islam. The research employs a descriptive quantitative approach using content analysis. The data analysis involves categorizing the content, evaluating it through judges' assessments, and calculating the findings using Microsoft Excel and the Slovin formula, followed by interpretation of the results. The result of this study shows that the novel possesses 37.66% message of morality which is very dominant, 32.46% sharia messages, and of 29.88% aqida messages.

Reading is an interactive process where readers construct meaning from texts, relying on various skills, including comprehension. It is fundamental for learning and daily life, and its importance is underscored by the rise of information and communication technology (ICT), which facilitates access to information through tools like the internet. Online platforms, such as Wattpad, have emerged as popular resources for improving literacy among students, particularly in narrative texts. At SMPN 28 Bekasi, English is a compulsory subject, yet students face challenges in reading comprehension, especially in understanding narrative texts. Despite the implementation of the Kurikulum Merdeka, which focuses on project-based learning, many students struggle to meet reading standards. This research aims to investigate the impact of the Wattpad application on students' reading comprehension of narrative texts, given their difficulties and lack of engagement with traditional reading materials. The survey revealed mixed preferences among students, with strong leanings towards novels (45%), fiction (56%), and romance (44%). Short stories are less popular but still attract the interest of some readers. The majority of students (46.7%) use Wattpad daily, spending mostly 30-60 minutes per session. Many read 2-4 texts per month and often follow specific authors. About 60% of students use bookmarks regularly, while 66.7% prefer texts recommended by Wattpad. The note-taking feature shows mixed use, indicating varying levels of engagement. Reviews and ratings are very important to 83.3% of students when selecting texts. Students generally felt confident in following the storyline (83.3% often or always), analyzing characters (83.3%), and identifying the main conflict (83.3%). Most students apply information from texts in real life, frequently reread for clarity, and often create summaries. Overall, these findings demonstrate high engagement and understanding among Wattpad students, demonstrating their diverse reading habits and interactive use of the platform.

By studying the understanding of sentence function patterns, class XII students can understand the important role of sentence function patterns in a novel. This research aims to be an informative and interesting learning resource for class XII students to use novels as enrichment material and improve their language skills. This research considers the function patterns of sentences in the novel "Pulang" by Tere Liye and the feasibility of sentence readability as enrichment material for class XII students. The method used in this research is a qualitative-descriptive method. Qualitative descriptive methods do not rely on evidence-based systematic logic, numerical principles, or statistical methods. This research helps determine the function patterns of sentences through the functions, categories, and roles of sentences in the novel, as well as the data and data sources in this research in the form of collections of sentences in the novel "Pulang" by Tere Liye. The data analysis technique used in this research uses the AGH method. The results of this research found sentence function patterns in the novel "Pulang" by Tere Liye. There are two S-P sentence patterns; there are three S-P-O sentence patterns; there are three S-P-Pel sentence patterns; there are four S-P-O-Pel sentence patterns; there are three S-P-K sentence patterns; there are four S-P-O-K sentence patterns; there are five S-P-O-Pel-K sentence patterns; and there are five S-P-O-Pel-K sentence patterns. Analysis of sentences based on function found the following sentence function patterns: S, P, O, and K. Analysis of sentences based on categories found in sentences is as follows: Function S is in the noun category. Function P is categorized as an adjective or verb. Function O is in the noun category. Ket functions are categorized as verbs, adjectives, and verb phrases. The analysis of sentences based on the roles found in the sentences is as follows: S's function is to act as an actor. Function P acts as a command or action. Function O acts as a sufferer. The functions of information are time, nature, and circumstances.
