This study aims to develop a storytelling-based learning media in the form of a YouTube video to support students’ understanding of narrative text based on their learning needs. This study employed a Research and Development (R&D) design using the ADDIE model, focusing on the stages of analysis and development. The data were collected through a questionnaire as part of the needs analysis to identify students’ responses toward listening and repetition activities, as well as the difficulties they face in understanding narrative texts. The results show that students generally respond positively to listening and repetition. However, they still experience difficulties in understanding the storyline and vocabulary. The findings also indicate that students need learning support in the form of audio, visual elements, and vocabulary assistance. Based on these findings, a learning product was developed in the form of a YouTube-based digital storytelling video entitled “Learn Narrative Text Through Fun Storytelling (Listen, Repeat & Retell)”. The video integrates storytelling, repetition, vocabulary explanation, and speaking practice to support students’ comprehension. Due to time limitations, this study was limited to the development of a prototype and has not yet included expert validation. Therefore, future research is recommended to conduct validation to evaluate the feasibility and effectiveness of the developed product.

This study aims to examine the strategy of meaning in Arabic language learning at SMA Terpadu Darut Tauhid with a focus on understanding narrative texts. Through a qualitative-descriptive approach, data were obtained from observations of learning activities, documentation, and in-depth interviews with teachers, students, and language program managers. The results of the study indicate that strategies such as Jigsaw, Index Card Match, and direct methods (al-thariqah al-mubasyarah) are effective in improving students' linguistic understanding and contextual values. The implementation of these strategies is carried out in an integrated manner in a daily language-based program, supported by a conducive religious environment. The use of narrative texts, especially the stories of the prophets and companions, not only enriches the mastery of mufradat and tarkib, but also becomes a means of internalizing the values of akhlakul karimah. The challenge of time constraints is overcome through creative approaches such as role-play and short dialogues. This study recommends the importance of integration between linguistic strategies and spiritual values in Arabic language learning in a religious-based educational environment.

This study aims to examine the effectiveness of using short stories to enhance the writing creativity of fourth-grade elementary students through a literature review approach. It employs a qualitative descriptive method with a non-experimental design. Data were gathered from various written sources such as scientific journals, books, and relevant proceedings, focusing on the role of short stories as a medium for writing instruction. The findings indicate that short stories can stimulate students' imagination, expressive abilities, and narrative understanding through structured plots rich in emotional meaning. Short stories also support students in composing more organized, creative, and expressive narrative texts, in line with the concrete thinking stage of Piaget’s theory. This approach aligns with constructivist principles, as it encourages students to connect personal experiences with story content. In the learning process, short stories are considered more engaging than traditional methods because they create a more interactive and meaningful learning environment. Therefore, the use of short stories has the potential to be an effective instructional strategy in fostering writing creativity and building a strong foundation in literacy from an early age.
