The rapid development of digital streaming platforms such as Netflix has generated a large volume of content data with diverse characteristics, thereby requiring effective analytical methods to understand emerging patterns and trends. This study aims to classify Netflix content into two main categories, namely movies and television shows, and to analyze genre trends and content characteristics using a data mining approach with the Naive Bayes algorithm. The dataset used in this study is the Netflix Shows dataset, consisting of 8,809 content entries, with the primary features analyzed including genre, rating, and country of production. The research process begins with data exploration and preprocessing stages, including data cleaning, handling missing values, and transforming categorical features to enable effective model construction. Subsequently, the dataset is divided into training and testing sets to objectively and systematically build and evaluate the Naive Bayes classification model. Model performance is evaluated using accuracy, precision, recall, and F1-score metrics to assess the model’s ability to accurately distinguish between Netflix content types. The experimental results demonstrate that the Naive Bayes algorithm is able to classify Netflix content into Movie and TV Show categories with accuracy, precision, recall, and F1-score values of 100%, respectively. The confusion matrix indicates that no misclassification occurred, suggesting that genre, rating, and country of production features provide a very clear separation between content classes. These findings indicate that the Naive Bayes algorithm can achieve exceptionally high classification performance with optimal evaluation results. The results further reveal distinct differences in characteristics between movies and television shows based on genre and production attributes. Therefore, this study is expected to contribute to the development of content recommendation systems and strategic content management within the streaming industry.

For decades, television as a mass media has been the most popular medium for entertainment and information. Because of its audiovisual nature, television can present music shows, movies, soap operas, variety shows, reality shows, and other programs involving celebrities adored by the public. The purpose of this study is to understand and analyze the exposure of artists' privacy on the Insert Pagi program on TRANS TV on December 1, 2024, from the perspective of the Broadcasting Behavior Guidelines for Standard Broadcasting Programs (P3SPS). Several related theories are involved in this research, including TV Production, Broadcasting, Television, Television Program Genres, Infotainment, Broadcasting Law and Ethics, and the Broadcasting Behavior Guidelines for Standard Broadcasting Programs (P3SPS). The method used in this study is descriptive qualitative. The data collection techniques conducted by the researcher include in-depth interviews, documentation, and observation. The result of this research on the Insert Pagi program on December 1, 2024, is the discrepancy of the program that was broadcast due to the information presented not aligning with the provisions of the articles of P3SPS. This is evident in the exposure of the privacy of artist couple Andrew Andika and Tengku Dewi in the broadcast. As stated in the Broadcasting Behavior Guidelines Article 13, which reads, “Broadcasting institutions must respect a person’s privacy rights in producing and/or broadcasting a program, whether live or recorded.

This research discusses the representation of Quranic values in the movie Setetes Embun Cinta Niyala through the Charles Sanders Peirce semiotic approach. Movies as visual media are not only entertainment, but can also be a means of da'wah and moral education. This research aims to reveal how the sign structure (icon, index, symbol) is used to represent Quranic messages, and how the meaning of the sign is interpreted by audience. The method used is descriptive qualitative with observation techniques of scenes in the movie that contain Islamic values. The analysis technique was carried out using the Charles Sanders Peirce Semiotics method. The results of the analysis show that this film explicitly and implicitly displays Quranic messages through visual representations (prayer rugs, prayers, social interactions) and verbal (dialog, quotations of Qur'anic verses). Values such as tawakkal, filial piety, honesty, brotherhood, and sharia restrictions on marriage are displayed by referring to the verses of the Qur'an, which are reinforced through symbolic meaning based on Peirce's theory. This research shows that film can be an effective medium in conveying religious and moral messages, especially when the signs in the film are analyzed in depth through a semiotic approach.

Sarcasm is often used in movies to create humor, but it can also show deeper emotions like anger, disappointment, or hidden criticism. In the movie Avengers: Endgame, sarcasm is used by many characters to express their feelings and relationships in a funny but meaningful way. This research aims to analyze how sarcasm is used in the movie and to identify which types of sarcasm appear the most. The researcher used Elisabeth Camp’s theory, which divides sarcasm into four types: propositional, lexical, like prefixed, and illocutionary sarcasm. The method used is descriptive qualitative, by watching the movie, collecting sarcastic dialogues, and analyzing them based on the theory. The result shows that propositional sarcasm is the most used (43%), followed by lexical sarcasm (36%), illocutionary sarcasm (14%), and like-prefixed sarcasm (7%). From these findings, it can be concluded that sarcasm in Avengers: Endgame is not only for jokes but also helps to express the characters’ emotions, conflicts, and closeness, making the dialogue more interesting and meaningful for the audience.  

Language plays a crucial role in communication as it occurs in every individual's or group's interaction. When visiting a country that speaks a foreign language, it is essential to effectively communicate in that language. This research studied international students who qualified to study abroad yet still experienced some language barriers while living in Australia. This study aims to find what are the types, effects, and their strategy to prevent the language barrier they experienced. A qualitative approach was applied in this research and semi-structured interviews were conducted with 3 Indonesian students who study in Australia. The result shows that the types of language barriers faced by the participants were: technical jargon, badly expressed message, and unclarified assumptions. Then, confusion was the primary impact of the language barrier on each interviewee. Lastly, the strategies they used to prevent the language barrier were: speaking slowly and clearly, asking for clarification, frequently checking for understanding, and being patient. In addition, it is suggested that international students find out more about the culture through local television movies or series so that they become familiar with the local terms.

This study aims to explore the effect of watching English movies on improving students' speaking skills. Using the literature review method, this research analyzes previous studies that discuss the relationship between exposure to English-language films and the development of speaking skills. The results showed that watching English movies contributed to the improvement of vocabulary, contextual understanding, as well as confidence in speaking. In addition, the use of subtitles and movie-based learning techniques such as shadowing proved effective in improving speaking fluency and intonation. The study also revealed that active engagement in movie-based discussions can accelerate language acquisition and increase students' learning motivation. Thus, the integration of English movies in the language learning curriculum is recommended to enrich conventional teaching methods. In conclusion, watching English movies is an effective strategy in improving speaking skills, especially when combined with appropriate pedagogical approaches.

This mass Media can be the main media in mass communication activities that aim to spread messages to audiences. Film is a persuasive type of mass media. movies can greatly affect people's perception of the storyline and the message contained in the film. One of the problems in society is suicide. Suicide is a serious issue that can have a negative impact on a person's mental health. Films have a significant role in shaping adolescents ' perceptions of various issues, including suicide attempts. However, there is still a lack of understanding about teenagers ' perception of suicide scenes in films. Therefore, this study will fill this knowledge gap by analyzing adolescents ' perceptions of suicide scenes in the movie "Fireworks”. This study aims to describe adolescents ' perception of suicide attempts in fireworks films. This study uses qualitative research methods by using perceptual analysis. This method views the message Maker creates a message in such a way with a certain meaning that is expected to be accepted by the audience. The results showed that there are differences in perception between informants with each other. Audiences conduct negotiations based on their knowledge and experience. Based on the results of the study, the researcher concluded that the aspects presented in this study do not completely agree. the meaning of each informant moves by itself from one position to another. Such interpretations come from knowledge, experience gained from their environment.

The main focus of this research is to understand how the character of Maverick played by Tom Cruise is represented through various signs and symbols in the film. The method of analysis used is semiotic analysis, which allows researchers to identify the signs and symbols used in representing the character. This research uses a qualitative approach by analyzing various visual, narrative, and contextual elements in the film. The findings of this research reveal how Tom Cruise as an actor and the character of Maverick are represented in the context of relevant culture and ideology. The results of this analysis provide a deeper understanding of how the character is understood and accepted by the audience, as well as the implications of his representation in a broader social and cultural context. This research contributes to the understanding of how symbols in popular media such as movies can shape our perception and understanding of certain characters in popular culture.

This study explores the application and violation of Grice's conversational maxims in the animated films "Finding Nemo" (2003) and "Finding Dory" (2016). Grice's maximsquantity, quality, relation, and manner are key to effective communication in pragmatics. The research analyzes how these maxims are followed or flouted by the characters, affecting humor, tension, and narrative flow. Through a qualitative approach, the study identifies specific instances of adherence and violation, examining their impact on character development and audience engagement. The findings indicate that flouting the maxim of quantity often creates humor, while manipulating the maxim of relation generates suspense. This analysis demonstrates the role of conversational maxims in enhancing storytelling and character interactions in animated films, contributing to their narrative and entertainment value.

The purpose of this study is to find out how the construction of liberal feminism reality is depicted in the Barbie (2023) movie by Greta Gerwig. The research method used in this study is a qualitative research method using a content analysis approach. By referring to the theory of liberal feminism, this study produces a conclusion about the existence of a scene about liberal feminism, precisely about the freedom of women to do anything in their lives such as the freedom to achieve dreams, the freedom to be a leader, the freedom to do good, the freedom to fight oppression, the freedom to get happiness, and the freedom to receive awards which are part of the construction of the reality of the world today. The construction of reality appears in a Barbie movie because the director of this Barbie movie wants to show how the state of the world now often makes all women feel threatened and not free to do anything according to their wishes, besides that through this movie the director of the movie wants that there will be no more injustice or unfreedom for women. The implications that occur here can certainly make the audience who has watched this movie can treat anyone, especially women, well, namely giving justice and freedom wherever they are and the audience can understand that the movie is created from the existing reality, then neatly constructed into a movie by presenting a moral message that is useful for anyone.

With the semiotic analysis of Roland Barthes, the film Kamen Rider Black Sun can understand the meaning of the visual signs conveyed in the film, so that this film becomes an important lesson in creating a fair society regardless of one's race, ethnicity and background.

In recent years, the world of cinema cannot be separated from literary works. Many literary works, one of which is a novel, are used as inspiration to produce a film. Novels that have popularity and high sales levels are able to attract producers to adapt novels into film form. The focus of this research is to describe the ecranization of the novel into the EL film, which includes (1) ecranization of the plot, (2) ecranization of the characters, and (3) ecranization of the setting. The approach used in this study is a qualitative approach with descriptive methods. The main instrument in this research is the researcher himself. The source of the research data is the novel el by luluk h.f.ke in the film el by director findo purwono. Data collection techniques are reading, watching, and recording data contained in EL novels and films. The results of this study's data analysis indicate that there is a process of ecranizing the novel into EL film which includes adding, shrinking, and varying changes.

Illocutionary speech acts can be found in everyday life or can also be found in movies which are a reflection of life. The author focuses research questions on (1) directive illocutionary speech acts; and (2) expressive illocutionary speech acts. This research method is descriptive qualitative. This method is used because the author describes the results of the analysis by describing. After conducting the analysis, the writer concludes that directive illocutionary speech acts and expressive illocutionary speech acts found in the dialogue of the film are based on several factors that support the validity of directive illocutionary speech acts and expressive illocutionary speech acts in the dialogue, namely the existence of other meanings from the actors' utterances. as well as the influence that arises from the speaker to the interlocutor.

Deixis is a pragmatic study that examines the relationship between the structure of language and the environment in which the language is used. The phenomenon of deixis or use is most often seen in everyday conversation in the form of verbal language. Deixis is also found in the conversation of characters or figures in literary works such as films. The study entitled "Deixis in the Film Bumi dan Manusia by Hanung Bramantyo" examines the use of deixis in the film directed by Hanung Bramantyo with the title "Earth and Man". Persona, time, place, social, and discourse deixis are the five categories of deixis studied in this study. Researchers used analytical methods in the form of pragmatics with qualitative techniques to analyze the data that had been collected. The data used in this study include fragments of speech from film conversations, both words and phrases containing deixis, including personal deixis, time deixis, location deixis, social deixis, and discourse deixis. Watching movies, capturing data, recognizing, categorizing, analyzing, formulating, and presenting data are the stages of analyzing in this research. Data analysis illustrates that the film directed by Hanung Bramantyo with the title "Bumi dan Manusia" has a deixis in the form of person, time, place, social, and discourse.
