Background: Menstruation is a natural physiological process that indicates the functional maturity of the female reproductive system. Menstrual cycle disorders can be influenced by several factors, including stress and obesity. Stress may cause hormonal changes through the hypothalamic-pituitary axis, leading to decreased luteinizing hormone (LH) levels and menstrual irregularities. Obesity can also affect ovarian function and disrupt the menstrual cycle. Objective: To determine the relationship between stress and obesity with menstrual cycle disorders among female adolescents at SMAN 1 Majene in 2026. Methods: This study used an analytical observational design with a cross-sectional approach. Data on stress levels, obesity status, and menstrual cycle disorders were collected simultaneously from 84 female respondents. The chi-square test was used to analyze the relationships among variables. Results: The analysis showed a significant relationship between stress and menstrual cycle disorders (p = .006; α < .05). A significant relationship was also found between obesity and menstrual cycle disorders (p = .002; α < .05). Many obese respondents experienced irregular menstrual cycles. Conclusion: There is a significant relationship between stress and obesity with menstrual cycle disorders among female adolescents at SMAN 1 Majene.

Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) is a chronic condition that not only impacts reproductive and metabolic functions, but also has a major impact on the mental health of women who experience it. This study aims to explore the factors that affect mental health in women with PCOS through a biopsychosocial approach. The method used was a review of the narrative literature on 11 scientific articles obtained through Google Scholar. The results of the study show that there are three main dimensions that are interrelated, namely biological factors (insulin resistance, obesity, hyperandrogenism, menstrual disorders, and infertility), psychological factors (neuroticism, coping style, and body image), and social factors (social stigma and social support). These three dimensions interact in a complex way and can contribute to the appearance of psychological disorders such as depression, anxiety, and low self-esteem. Therefore, a biopsychosocial approach is important to understand and treat the mental health of people with PCOS holistically. Interventions that are integrated between medical, psychological, and social aspects are needed to improve the emotional well-being and quality of life of women with PCOS in a sustainable manner.

Menstrual cycle disorders can negatively impact athletic performance. A combination of irregular eating patterns and intense training can increase the risk of such disturbances. Factors influencing menstrual cycle irregularities include nutritional status, physical activity, dietary habits, stress levels, smoking, hormonal medication use, and endocrine disorders. A study conducted in Semarang found that 28.8% of female athletes experienced menstrual cycle issues. This research aims to investigate how physical activity and food intake affect menstrual cycle disorders among adolescent volleyball athletes in Kudus Regency. The methodology employed was an observational analytical study with a cross-sectional approach, selecting 46 respondents using purposive sampling techniques. The IPAQ and SQFFQ questionnaires were used as research instruments. Data were analyzed using bivariate analysis with the Chi-Square test. The results indicated that the majority of athletes had a high level of physical activity (76.1%), while 50% were categorized as having severe food intake deficits. Additionally, 78.3% of athletes experienced menstrual cycle disturbances, which included 36 individuals. Bivariate analysis revealed that physical activity influenced the menstrual cycle of adolescent volleyball athletes (p-value = 0.045), and dietary intake also had an effect (p-value = 0.000). Therefore, both physical activity and eating patterns significantly impact menstrual cycle disorders among adolescent volleyball athletes.

Personal hygiene during menstruation is a crucial aspect in maintaining the reproductive health of adolescent girls. Failure to adhere to personal hygiene practices during menstruation can potentially lead to various health problems, such as reproductive tract infections, pruritus vulvae, and vaginal discharge. Parents play a crucial role in shaping healthy behaviors in adolescent girls by providing education regarding the reproductive process and how to properly care for their genitals. Parents' roles in this context are considered effective if they actively provide reproductive health education, establish open communication, and model healthy behaviors. This education includes providing accurate information about reproductive organ function, techniques for cleaning genitalia during menstruation, and discussing health issues related to menstruation. This study aims to determine the relationship between parental role and menstrual personal hygiene practices among adolescent girls at SMP Negeri 1 Sambirejo, Sragen. The study used a quantitative method with a descriptive correlational design and a cross-sectional approach. The study sample consisted of 81 respondents, selected using a purposive sampling technique. The instruments used were questionnaires on parental roles and menstrual personal hygiene practices. The results showed that 53 respondents (65.4%) had parents with good roles, and 62 respondents (76.5%) had good menstrual personal hygiene practices. Data analysis using the Spearman Rank test resulted in a p value = 0.000 (p < 0.05), which indicates that the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted and the null hypothesis (H0) is rejected. Thus, there is a significant relationship between parental roles and menstrual personal hygiene practices in adolescent girls at SMP Negeri 1 Sambirejo. This finding underscores the importance of parents' role in supporting proper menstrual hygiene practices through providing accurate information, open communication, and examples of healthy behavior, thus contributing to the prevention of reproductive health disorders among adolescents.

Adolescent girls commonly experience menstrual disorders, with a 67.2% incidence of dysmenorrhea and 63.1% of premenstrual syndrome (PMS). Menstrual pain, or dysmenorrhea, is one of the most frequent reproductive health issues experienced by women, affecting both adolescents and adults. This condition can significantly hinder daily activities, which calls for appropriate treatment. Dysmenorrhea can be managed through both pharmacological and non-pharmacological methods. While pharmacological treatments offer quick relief, non-pharmacological approaches are considered safer as they do not induce side effects, unlike medications. One effective form of non-pharmacological therapy is acupressure, which has shown promising results in alleviating menstrual pain. According to a study by Latifah and colleagues, acupressure was proven to be effective in reducing menstrual discomfort. In line with this, a community outreach initiative was conducted to educate and train adolescent girls on acupressure techniques as a form of self-care. From May 5 to 9, 2025, acupressure education was provided to 30 female students at a local school. The training focused on teaching students how to apply acupressure to specific pressure points that relieve menstrual pain, without the need for medication or herbal remedies. Pre- and post-training assessments showed a significant increase in students’ knowledge and skills related to the practice of acupressure. The results indicated that students were able to effectively apply acupressure techniques and felt more confident in managing menstrual pain independently. This approach not only offered immediate relief but also empowered the students with a long-term strategy to manage dysmenorrhea in the future. This activity demonstrated positive outcomes, suggesting that acupressure is a valuable, sustainable solution for menstrual pain relief among adolescents.

Adolescence is a critical phase in individual development, especially for adolescent girls who begin to experience menstruation as a sign of reproductive maturity. However, not all adolescents experience menstruation normally; some experience disorders such as menstrual pain, irregular cycles, and prolonged bleeding. This study aims to explore in depth the subjective experiences of adolescent girls with menstrual disorders at SMP Negeri 2 Bunta, Banggai Regency, focusing on the nature of the disorders experienced, their interpretation of these experiences, coping strategies, and the social support received. This study employs a qualitative approach with a phenomenological design. The primary informants were female adolescents in grades VII–IX who had experienced menstrual disorders in the past six months, selected purposively until data saturation was achieved. Data collection techniques included in-depth interviews, non-participatory observation, and document analysis. Data were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model through data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of the study indicate that menstrual disorders are viewed as normal by most informants, despite causing physical discomfort and psychological anxiety. Adolescents' responses to these disorders vary, ranging from the use of warm compresses and medication to no intervention at all. The primary sources of information are mothers and social media, while the roles of teachers and schools remain limited. Social support is most commonly provided by family, although some adolescents also feel supported by peers and teachers. This study emphasizes the importance of systematic reproductive health education, school involvement in supporting adolescents, and the creation of safe and stigma-free discussion spaces regarding menstruation-related issues.
