The quality of interaction between physicians and patients plays a crucial role in the healthcare system, as it directly affects patient satisfaction. Ineffective communication by physicians may reduce patient satisfaction and increase the risk of complaints and medical disputes. This study aims to analyze the relationship between doctor–patient communication patterns and patient satisfaction in outpatient services. This research employed a quantitative approach with an observational analytic design using a cross-sectional method. The study population included all outpatient patients, with a sample of 110 respondents selected through accidental sampling. The independent variable was doctor–patient communication, while the dependent variable was patient satisfaction. Data were collected using a questionnaire, and analysis was performed using the Chi-Square test with a 95% confidence level. The results showed that the majority of respondents rated doctor–patient communication as good (80.9%) and reported high levels of satisfaction (75.5%). The analysis revealed that among respondents who experienced good communication, 84.3% reported high satisfaction, whereas the proportion of high satisfaction decreased significantly in the groups with moderate and poor communication. In conclusion, there is a significant relationship between the quality of doctor–patient communication and patient satisfaction in outpatient services, where improvements in communication quality are consistently associated with increased patient satisfaction.

Patient safety is often viewed exclusively as the responsibility of clinical personnel. However, administrative errors occurring during the admission process and documentation stages constitute major contributors to medical risk. This study aims to explore the strategic role of administrative staff in strengthening patient safety culture and mitigating medical risks through effective communication coordination. A narrative literature review was conducted extensively using the Scopus, PubMed, and Web of Science databases, covering publications from 2014 to 2024. Data were analyzed using a thematic synthesis approach. The findings identify four main themes: administrative staff as information gatekeepers, the role of health information technologies (HIS/EMR) in bridging communication gaps, collaboration barriers arising from hierarchical structures, and the need for an Interprofessional Shared Governance framework. Administrative accuracy in the early phases of care is proven to be critical in preventing latent errors with potentially fatal consequences. Strengthening patient safety culture requires the integration of administrative staff through cross-departmental training, standardized communication protocols, and non-punitive incident reporting systems. Administrative staff are not merely bureaucratic support personnel but are key actors within the modern hospital patient safety ecosystem.

Preoperative anxiety is one of the psychological problems that patients often experience and can affect physiological stability, response to anesthesia, and the postoperative recovery process. High levels of anxiety in patients leading up to surgery can have negative impacts, both physically and emotionally. One of the interventions that can be done to reduce anxiety is therapeutic communication by nurses. Therapeutic communication has an important role in creating a relationship of mutual trust, providing a sense of security, and helping patients understand the medical procedures to be undertaken. However, there are still conditions where therapeutic communication has not been implemented optimally. This study aims to determine the relationship between nurses' therapeutic communication and the level of anxiety of preoperative patients at RSI Pekajangan. The study used a quantitative approach with a correlational design and involved 72 respondents who were selected through purposive sampling techniques. The research instruments included a therapeutic communication questionnaire and the Amsterdam Preoperative Anxiety and Information Scale (APAIS). Data analysis was carried out using the Spearman Rank test. The results showed that most respondents rated therapeutic communication in the categories of good (81.9%) and moderate anxiety (72.2%). Statistical tests showed a significant relationship between nurses' therapeutic communication and preoperative patients' anxiety levels (p = 0.027) and moderate correlation strength (r = -0.260). The conclusion of this study confirms that therapeutic communication plays a role in lowering patients' anxiety, so it is recommended that nurses improve therapeutic communication skills as part of pre-surgical interventions.

The Intensive Care Unit (ICU) is a specialized unit in a hospital that provides intensive care and close monitoring for critically ill patients. This unit is equipped with advanced medical equipment such as ventilators and hemodynamic monitors, and has a high staffing ratio to ensure optimal care (Smith & Jones, 2020; Brown et al., 2019; Williams & Green, 2021).  The multidisciplinary team in the ICU, including specialist physicians and trained nurses, works together to meet the medical and psychological needs of patients (Taylor, 2022; Miller & Adams, 2018). According to the WHO (2023), 10–20% of hospital patients require ICU care. In Indonesia, ICU patients account for approximately 15% of total hospital patients (Kusuma, 2021). Data from Dr. Moewardi Regional Hospital (RSUD) shows an increasing trend in ICU patients, primarily due to infectious diseases (Ministry of Health, 2021). Meanwhile, in the ICU of Sultan Agung Islamic Hospital (RSI Sultan Agung Semarang), 1,278 patients were admitted between January and October 2024, with the most cases being respiratory failure (143 patients). This study used a quantitative design with a cross-sectional approach. The sample consisted of conscious patients treated in the ICU and met the inclusion criteria, with 71 respondents.  The research instrument used a validated questionnaire to measure family support, therapeutic communication, and anxiety levels. Data analysis was performed using the Spearman test. Based on the Spearman test, the 71 respondents were found to have the following characteristics: the highest age group was early elderly (36.6%), the highest gender was male (64.8%), the highest education level was high school (45.1%), the highest occupation was 80.3%, high family support (74.6%), good therapeutic communication (90.1%), and mild anxiety (59.2%). There is a significant relationship between family support and patient anxiety levels. Furthermore, therapeutic communication also significantly reduced patient anxiety levels in the ICU at Sultan Agung Islamic Hospital, Semarang.

Hospitalization in preschool children often causes anxiety due to several factors, such as unfamiliar environments, uncomfortable medical procedures, and separation from parents. This condition can negatively affect the child’s psychological state, which may influence both the healing process and adaptation during hospital care. Therefore, it is important to understand the description of anxiety experienced by children during hospitalization so that health workers can provide appropriate interventions. This study aimed to describe the anxiety caused by hospitalization among preschool children admitted to the Parkit Ward of Qolbu Insan Mulia (QIM) Hospital Batang. The study employed a descriptive quantitative design with a purposive sampling technique. A total of 65 preschool children aged 3–6 years who met the inclusion criteria were recruited as samples. The instrument used was the Spence Children’s Anxiety Scale (SCAS) Preschool Parent Report, which was completed by parents to assess the children’s level of anxiety. Data analysis was carried out using frequency distribution to present both the respondents’ characteristics and the level of anxiety. The results showed that most respondents were 5 years old (36.9%) and predominantly male (61.5%). A majority of the respondents had never been hospitalized before (63.1%), making hospitalization a first-time experience that could trigger anxiety. The highest proportion of anxiety levels was in the mild category (38.4%), followed by moderate anxiety (30.7%). Only a small proportion of children experienced severe anxiety. In conclusion, preschool children undergoing hospitalization in the Parkit Ward of QIM Hospital Batang mostly experienced mild to moderate anxiety. These findings provide an important overview for nursing staff in designing interventions to reduce children’s anxiety. Suggested approaches include play therapy, effective communication, and active parental involvement in the care process. With such strategies, it is expected that children’s anxiety can be reduced, making hospitalization a more adaptive experience that supports the recovery process.

Maternal anxiety during the childbirth process is a common psychological condition that can potentially increase the risk of complications, prolong labor, and reduce the likelihood of a positive birthing experience. High anxiety levels in mothers may interfere with the effectiveness of labor, impact maternal and fetal well-being, and lead to increased medical interventions. One of the most important support systems during labor is the presence and active involvement of the husband. The husband’s role is not only limited to being present but also includes providing emotional, physical, and motivational support to the mother. Recognizing the importance of this role, this community service program was designed to enhance husbands’ understanding and skills in supporting their wives during childbirth, thereby helping to reduce maternal anxiety. The program consisted of several stages, including the delivery of structured health education sessions on maternal needs during labor, demonstrations of effective communication techniques, simulations of support during different stages of childbirth, and interactive discussions to address questions and share experiences. Through these activities, participants were encouraged to build empathy, strengthen their knowledge about labor, and develop the confidence to assist their wives effectively. The results of the program indicated a noticeable improvement in the husbands’ awareness of the importance of their role, as well as increased confidence in providing both emotional reassurance and physical assistance. Participants reported feeling better prepared to accompany their wives, manage unexpected situations, and foster a more supportive environment during childbirth. This initiative highlights the significant impact that targeted education and training for husbands can have on maternal psychological well-being, ultimately contributing to safer and more positive birth experiences.

The implementation of the Enhanced Recovery After Cesarean Surgery (ERACS) method as an innovation in the Sectio Cesarea (SC) surgical procedure aims to accelerate recovery, minimize pain, and improve patient comfort. Although it has been clinically proven, there is still limited research exploring patients' subjective experiences with this method, particularly in eastern Indonesia. This study aims to explore in depth the physical, emotional, psychological experiences, as well as perceptions of service and patient expectations after undergoing SC with the ERACS method at Banggai Laut General Hospital. The study employs a qualitative approach with a phenomenological study design. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with purposively selected informants and analyzed using Braun & Clarke's thematic analysis technique. The results showed that patients experienced rapid physical recovery, minimal pain, and were able to mobilize early. Emotionally, patients felt calm and stable, supported by good communication with medical staff and family support. However, information about the ERACS procedure before surgery was still perceived as lacking detail. Patients also hope that this method continues to be implemented with improvements in educational aspects and financial support from BPJS. Patients' experiences with the ERACS method are generally very positive and reflect the success of this approach not only clinically but also in creating a more comfortable, efficient, and humane childbirth experience. This study recommends enhancing preoperative education, postoperative monitoring, and more inclusive financial support systems.

The community movement to assist childbirth operates within a complex context, where social, cultural, and economic factors interact with each other. At the Babirik Community Health Center (Puskesmas Babirik), community service partners face a number of challenges. One of the main issues is the limited human resources, with an insufficient number of medical personnel and volunteers to reach all pregnant women in the area. Ineffective communication between the health center and the community has led to low awareness and participation of pregnant women in existing programs.Based on these challenges, a solution was developed by introducing the Community Movement to Assist Childbirth at Puskesmas Babirik, abbreviated as Germas Tulin. The Germas Tulin program at Puskesmas Babirik has shown a positive impact on community service, especially in supporting childbirth. Through various initiatives, the community actively participates in providing services and support needed during the delivery process. Germas Tulin plays a vital role in creating a safer and more supportive environment for pregnant women, as well as contributing to the improvement of healthcare service quality in the area.
