Semarang Regency harbors an exceptional geological record comprising three evolutionary phases of the Kendeng Zone: deep-marine sedimentation (Early Miocene–Pleistocene), tectonic uplift, and ongoing volcanism of Mount Ungaran. This study aims to inventory and identify geodiversity, biodiversity, and cultural diversity across 19 sub-districts of Semarang Regency as a scientific foundation for the Semarang Regency Geopark Master Plan, and as the initial step toward UNESCO Global Geopark (UGGp) designation. An integrative literature review with a qualitative-descriptive approach, complemented by field observations, was employed. The inventory identified 22 geosites, 19 biosites, and 19 culture sites with demonstrable causal interconnections. The key uniqueness of Semarang Geopark lies in its complete record of three geological phases within one integrated area—from ancient deep-sea floor sediments in Bancak Sub-district, comparable to the Luk Ulo Mélange Complex of Kebumen UGGp, to active hydrothermal manifestations of Mount Ungaran at the Gedongsongo Temple Complex. The geotourism narrative 'Traversing the Time Corridor: From the Ancient Ocean Floor to the Summit of the Magma Pathway' is proposed as a unifying theme integrating conservation, education, and sustainable economic development. This study confirms the international potential of Semarang Regency Geopark based on the UNESCO & IUGS (2023) geological heritage assessment criteria.

Mental health disorders, particularly depression and anxiety, remain major contributors to the global burden of disease and disability. Socioeconomic inequality, including differences in Gross National Income (GNI) per capita, is considered an important factor influencing mental health outcomes. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between GNI per capita and the prevalence of depression and anxiety disorders globally using data from the Global Burden of Disease (GBD) 2023 database. A descriptive ecological study design was conducted using secondary data from 187 countries and regions. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, Spearman correlation tests, and regional comparative analysis with ANOVA. The results showed substantial disparities in mental health burden and income distribution across regions. Africa had the highest average prevalence of depression, while Asia showed the greatest variability in anxiety disorders. A significant negative correlation was found between depression prevalence and income levels (r = -0.213; p = 0.003), indicating higher depression rates in lower-income countries. However, anxiety showed a weak and insignificant relationship with income (r = -0.079; p = 0.281). These findings emphasize the need to reduce socioeconomic inequalities and strengthen mental health systems through integrated healthcare services and multisectoral policies.

Stroke remains one of the leading causes of mortality and disability worldwide, including in Indonesia. The increasing prevalence of stroke and Years Lived with Disability (YLD) reflects its growing health burden. This study aimed to analyze trends in stroke prevalence and YLD in Indonesia during 2021–2023 using data from the Global Burden of Disease (GBD). A quantitative descriptive design with an ecological and time-trend approach was employed. Secondary data were obtained from the GBD Results Tool and analyzed using R version 4.4.1. The analysis focused on major geographical regions across Indonesia. The results showed a gradual increase in both stroke prevalence and YLD during the study period. Java recorded the highest prevalence and YLD, while Maluku and Papua showed lower prevalence but greater variation in YLD. These trends were associated with urbanization, unhealthy lifestyles, hypertension, diabetes, and unequal access to healthcare and rehabilitation services. Pearson correlation analysis demonstrated a very strong association between stroke prevalence and YLD (r > 0.99) across all years. The findings highlight increasing stroke burden and regional disparities, emphasizing the need for equitable healthcare access, risk factor control, and strengthened post-stroke rehabilitation programs.

Colorectal cancer and paralytic ileus are significant health concerns worldwide, including in Indonesia, where their prevalence and mortality rates have shown concerning trends. This study aims to compare the prevalence and mortality of paralytic ileus and colorectal cancer in Indonesia using data from the Global Burden of Disease (GBD) for the years 2019, 2021, and 2023. A secondary data analysis was conducted using GBD 2023 data, focusing on prevalence, incidence, and mortality rates for both conditions across 34 provinces in Indonesia. The study employed a time-trend analysis to observe the changes in disease burden over the specified years, along with examining the differences in disease characteristics based on sex, age groups, and regions. Results indicated that colorectal cancer has a higher burden of disease, with significantly higher prevalence and mortality rates compared to paralytic ileus. This highlights the urgent need for enhanced prevention, early detection, and management strategies for colorectal cancer in Indonesia. The findings emphasize the importance of integrated healthcare policies to address both conditions effectively, focusing on regions with the highest disease burden. Further research is recommended to explore the underlying risk factors and to evaluate the effectiveness of current healthcare interventions.

This study aims to analyze the trends in the prevalence of ischemic heart disease (IHD) in Indonesia from 2019 to 2023 based on data from the Global Burden of Disease (GBD) study, with a focus on gender differences between males and females. The data used in this study includes detailed prevalence data for IHD based on province and gender. The analysis reveals that the prevalence of IHD is higher in males than in females, with greater fluctuations observed in females, particularly after menopause. Although there are significant differences in the prevalence across several provinces, risk factors such as smoking, obesity, hypertension, and diabetes contribute significantly to the increasing prevalence of this disease. However, the differences in prevalence between provinces and genders are not always statistically significant, indicating that other factors such as access to healthcare, lifestyle, and socio-economic factors also influence the distribution of this disease. This study provides valuable insights for the development of gender-based heart disease prevention policies and introduces more targeted interventions.

This study examines the emergence of localized English expressions in Indonesian social media discourse, highlighting how English is adapted and reinterpreted in multilingual digital contexts. While previous studies on English in Indonesia have primarily focused on formal domains such as education and language policy, limited attention has been given to informal online communication where linguistic innovation is highly visible. This study aims to analyze how English lexical items are re-semanticized and creatively transformed by Indonesian users on social media platforms. The study employed a qualitative approach using data collected from Instagram posts and comments, focusing on selected examples of English-derived expressions such as boba, gas, voucher, server, and suamiable. The analysis compares the conventional meanings of these terms in Inner Circle English with their localized meanings in Indonesian usage. The findings reveal that English functions as a flexible linguistic resource, undergoing processes of semantic shift, metaphorical extension, and lexical blending. These localized forms reflect users’ creativity as well as their ability to adapt global linguistic resources to local cultural contexts. The study concludes that English in Indonesian social media is not merely borrowed but actively reconstructed, contributing to the dynamic development of English in the Expanding Circle.

This article examines the relationship between Islam and the local traditions of the Minangkabau community in West Sumatra, Indonesia. The focus covers three main issues: the historical process of Islamization, the philosophy of Adat Basandi Syarak, Syarak Basandi Kitabullah (ABS-SBK), and the coexistence of the matrilineal kinship system with Islamic inheritance law. Using a qualitative approach through systematic literature review of peer-reviewed journals published between 2020 and 2025, the study synthesizes findings from multiple academic sources. The results reveal that Islam entered Minangkabau gradually through trade and the surau educational institution, rather than through forced conversion. The resulting ABS-SBK philosophy meaning customary law is grounded in Islamic law, which is grounded in the Quran serves as a comprehensive life guide integrating religious norms with adat practices. The matrilineal inheritance system (pusaka tinggi) coexists with Islamic inheritance law (faraid) through a functional distinction: communal ancestral property follows adat, while individually acquired property follows Islamic law. Contemporary challenges such as globalization, urbanization, and weakened institutional roles of adat leaders threaten the vitality of ABS-SBK, though cultural revitalization efforts show promising resilience. This study concludes that Minangkabau represents a unique model of Islam-culture integration in the Indonesian archipelago.

The stock market is a place to buy shares for profit. In Indonesia, energy stocks are highly unpredictable because global commodity prices change constantly. This study examines what affected energy stock returns in 2024, focusing on trading volume, price swings, company profits, and cash flow. Using financial reports and statistical analysis, all these factors were tested together and individually. The results show that combined, all these factors do affect stock returns. However, when looked at one by one, only the company's net profit truly matters to investors. On the other hand, busy trading, daily price swings, and cash flow have no impact at all. In fact, all the factors studied only account for 14% of stock return movements, while the remaining 86% is driven by other outside forces. In conclusion, for those looking to invest in energy stocks, the most important thing to watch is the company's ability to generate net profit, rather than just looking at how busy daily transactions are in the market.

This study examines the implementation of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles as a sustainability instrument for consumer cooperatives from the perspective of Islamic economics. Consumer cooperatives, as people-based economic institutions, face significant challenges in maintaining sustainability amid rapid economic transformation and increasing demands for corporate accountability. ESG, as a global framework for measuring sustainability performance, is considered relevant to the values of Islamic economics which emphasize justice, transparency, social benefit, and environmental responsibility. This research uses a qualitative approach through literature study and document analysis to formulate a conceptual model of ESG implementation in consumer cooperatives based on Islamic economic principles. The findings show that ESG dimensions are in line with maqashid al-syariah, namely the protection of religion, life, intellect, lineage, and property. Environmental aspects correlate with the stewardship principle of khalifah fil ardh, while social aspects align with the concept of takaful ijtima’i, and governance reflects the values of amanah and shura. This study offers a conceptual framework for integrating ESG within the cooperative institutional governance system as a strategic step toward sustainable and equitable economic development.

This study aims to examine the role of Ahlussunnah wal Jama'ah (Aswaja) An-Nahdliyah in strengthening religious moderation among young people amid increasingly complex, pluralistic, and digitalized societies. Globalization, advances in information technology, and easy access to diverse religious perspectives through digital media have influenced the religious attitudes and behaviors of younger generations, highlighting the need to reinforce moderate religious values. Aswaja An-Nahdliyah promotes the principles of tawassuth (moderation), tasamuh (tolerance), tawazun (balance), and i'tidal (justice) as the foundation for social, national, and civic life. This study employed a qualitative approach using a library research method. Data were collected from books, scientific articles, official documents, and relevant literature on Aswaja An-Nahdliyah and religious moderation. The data were analyzed using content analysis to identify the contribution of Aswaja values in fostering moderate attitudes among young people. The findings indicate that Aswaja An-Nahdliyah plays a strategic role in internalizing inclusive, contextual, and tolerant Islamic values through formal and non-formal education, youth organizations, religious study groups, and digital media. The implementation of these values enhances tolerance, respect for diversity, patriotism, and critical awareness among young people in confronting radical and intolerant ideologies, thereby supporting the development of a harmonious and peaceful pluralistic society.

Journal of Islamic Law and Legal Studies 2026 Mabadi Iqtishad Al Islami

This study explores the role of Islamic economic law in promoting sustainable development by establishing an integrated relationship between ethical values, legal frameworks, and public policy. Although sustainable development has emerged as a major global agenda, its implementation continues to face challenges due to the limitations of conventional economic and legal systems, which often prioritize efficiency and economic growth while overlooking ethical and social dimensions. Employing a qualitative research approach through content analysis, this study examines classical Islamic jurisprudence, contemporary scholarly literature, and relevant policy documents to analyze the alignment between Islamic economic principles and sustainability frameworks. The findings demonstrate that Islamic economic law provides a comprehensive and ethically oriented framework based on fundamental principles, including tawhid (unity), adl (justice), maslahah (public interest), and maqasid al-shariah (objectives of Islamic law). These principles are manifested through various institutional and legal instruments, such as zakat, waqf, and risk-sharing financial mechanisms, which contribute to social justice, economic inclusion, financial resilience, and environmental sustainability.

This study aims to examine the historical origins and development of the sociology of education, explore the biographies and ideas of key scholars from both Islamic and Western traditions, and analyze their relevance in the context of modern education. The development of education has always been closely linked to social, political, and economic dynamics, which gave rise to the sociology of education as a discipline that investigates the relationship between education and social change. Contemporary challenges such as social inequality, the impacts of globalization and technological advancement, and the growing demand for the democratization of education require a comprehensive examination of the major sociological theories that have emerged over time. This research employs a qualitative approach using a literature review method through the analysis of relevant books and scholarly journal articles. The findings indicate that the ideas of scholars such as Ibn Khaldun, Auguste Comte, Émile Durkheim, Karl Marx, Max Weber, Herbert Spencer, George Herbert Mead, Talcott Parsons, and Ali Shariati have made significant contributions to understanding the functions, conflicts, and interactions within education. Structural functionalist, conflict, and symbolic interactionist theories provide complementary analytical frameworks for explaining education’s role as a means of social integration, an arena for the reproduction of inequality, and a space for the construction of meaning and identity. By adopting a comparative approach across different intellectual traditions, this study offers a holistic perspective for the development of the sociology of education in the modern era.

This study examines the gap between Nestlé’s sustainability commitments and the reality of ecological damage caused by the use of unsustainable raw materials in its global supply chain. Using a descriptive qualitative approach based on literature reviews and case study analysis, this study evaluates various data sources, ranging from scientific journals and corporate reports to documentation from independent organizations such as Greenpeace and the Rainforest Action Network. Findings indicate that Nestlé’s procurement of key commodities such as palm oil, cocoa, soy, dairy products, and singleuse plastics significantly contributes to deforestation, systemic plastic pollution, water extraction in vulnerable regions, and greenhouse gas emissions exceeding 87.5 million tons of CO₂e per year. In Indonesia, these highrisk areas are evident in palm oil sourcing in Sumatra and Kalimantan and cocoa sourcing in Sulawesi. Theoretically, this study argues that Nestlé’s sustainability governance exhibits a pattern of strategic decoupling, where public reporting on progress in primary supply chains is deliberately used to mask ongoing environmental damage within their hidden supply networks. Thus, this article makes a critical contribution by integrating supply chain management theory, environmental accountability, and the governance of multinational corporations.

This study examines how Nicolás Maduro's anti-neoliberal politics in Venezuela triggered a systematic securitization process by the US from 2014 to 2026. Drawing on Securitization Theory (Buzan et al., 1998) and a Neo-Gramscian perspective (Cox, 1981), this study argues that Maduro's anti-neoliberal policies constitute a counter-hegemonic challenge created by the United States. This threat is framed as a threat to democracy, regional security, and ultimately the narco-state, ultimately leading to the military intervention of January 2026. Economic sanctions failed to pressure the regime, exacerbated the humanitarian crisis, and set a dangerous precedent for the norm of state sovereignty in international law, suggesting that this securitization process proved ineffective. By addressing temporal and conceptual gaps in previous research, this study adds to the Security Studies literature. This study also highlights implications for international law, regional stability in Latin America, and the broader debate on securitization practices in contemporary global politics and US foreign policy strategy and international security governance frameworks debates.
